Atout By Dr. Supriya M: The Trailblazing Educator-Turned-Entrepreneur Redefining Saree Culture By Sakshi Batra Atout By Dr. Supriya M: The Trailblazing Educator-Turned-Entrepreneur Redefining Saree Culture 12 March 2025 FASHION Advertisement What happens when a passionate media educator decides to channel her love for tradition into fashion? When you think of Dr. Supriya M, it’s hard to place her within a single box. A passionate media educator, accomplished researcher, and now an ambitious entrepreneur, Dr. Supriya’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Born and raised in Bangalore, she carved her academic path in journalism, earning a Ph.D. from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism. Today, she is the dynamic Assistant Professor and Head of the Media Club at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education. But her identity doesn’t end with her academic accolades. Dr. Supriya’s story reveals her evolution from an academic powerhouse to the visionary founder of “ Atout ,” a brand that is revolutionizing the way we perceive sarees. The Journey From Academia To Entrepreneurship For Dr. Supriya, the spark of entrepreneurship was ignited during her Ph.D. journey. A serendipitous moment occurred when she was required to wear sarees frequently. What could have been a mundane requirement turned into a revelation. As she explored the beauty of sarees, their fabrics, prints, and the stories they carry, she found herself captivated by their charm. It was this fascination with sarees, combined with her enduring love for natural fabrics, that planted the seeds for her entrepreneurial venture. “India is one of the largest exporters of cotton, and I’ve always been inspired by natural fabrics. Sarees, especially, make me feel comfortable, carefree, and stylish all at once,” she shares. Dr. Supriya firmly believes that sarees can effortlessly merge tradition with modernity. “People often associate trendsetting fashion with Western attire like jeans, tops, or skirts. But a saree? It’s sexy, elegant, and timeless—all in one,” she adds with a smile. Introducing Atout: More Than Just A Brand When it came to naming her brand, Dr. Supriya chose something unique - “Atout”, a French word meaning "An Asset." The name reflects her vision, to create sarees that are not just garments but treasured assets for every woman. Atout embraces traditional Indian culture while introducing modern design elements. Dr. Supriya’s love for mul cotton, natural dyes, and block printing forms the core of the brand. She envisions sarees that are free from chemicals, affordable, and versatile enough to fit into every woman’s wardrobe, from festive celebrations to casual outings. Atout: Tradition With A Twist Atout isn’t just about draping fabric; it’s about embracing heritage with a modern lens. Dr. Supriya’s designs are rooted in mul cotton, natural dyes, and block printing, ensuring sustainability while celebrating India’s rich textile legacy. Each Saree From Atout Tells A Story: Comfort Meets Elegance : Natural, chemical-free fabrics make Atout sarees a dream to wear. Bold Meets Beautiful : Vibrant hues, pastels, and timeless prints bring tradition into the 21st century. Affordable Luxury : Elegance doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag—Atout makes beauty accessible to all. Breaking Stereotypes: Sarees As The Ultimate Fashion Statement Dr. Supriya’s philosophy challenges the notion that Western wear dominates modern fashion. “A saree can make you look fashionable, trendy, and powerful. It’s not just a garment; it’s a statement piece,” she asserts. Atout’s sarees aim to showcase how this timeless attire can be reimagined with unique concepts like pastel tones, vibrant hues, and intricate block prints, proving that tradition and trend can coexist beautifully. The Support System Behind Her Success Dr. Supriya credits her family’s unwavering support for her success. Coming from a respectable background -her father an IPS officer, she grew up in an environment that encouraged her to chase her dreams. “My family has always given me the freedom to fly with my wings,” she reflects fondly. On Competition: A Philosophy Of Self-Growth When asked about her competitors, Dr. Supriya’s response is as bold as it is refreshing. “I don’t see anyone as my competition. My only competitor is myself. If I’m satisfied with the quality of my products and my customers are happy, that’s enough for me,” she says with confidence. Future Aspirations: Building A Legacy Looking ahead, Dr. Supriya has ambitious plans for Atout. Her focus is on sustainability, customer satisfaction, and expanding the brand through multiple channels, including e-commerce platforms, multimedia promotions, and word-of-mouth publicity. For her, success is not just about sales, it’s about creating a product that makes people feel good about what they’re wearing. Her vision? To design more innovative fabrics using natural methods and introduce unique sarees that resonate with modern sensibilities while staying true to their roots. The Core Of Atout Dr. Supriya encapsulates her brand’s philosophy in three key principles: durability, affordability, and timeless style. Atout sarees are designed to make women look and feel their best, combining high-quality craftsmanship with natural, chemical-free materials. A Message To Women Everywhere Dr. Supriya’s journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and staying true to one’s roots. Through Atout, she aims to inspire women to embrace sarees not just as traditional attire but as a bold, versatile, and fashionable choice. As she puts it, “Sarees have been celebrated for centuries. They’re not just garments; they’re a symbol of our culture, our identity, and our ability to blend tradition with innovation. With Atout, I want to remind women that they don’t have to choose between looking trendy and honoring their roots - they can have both.” Dr. Supriya M’s story resonates with anyone who has ever dared to dream beyond the ordinary. From her academic achievements to her entrepreneurial journey, she is a living example of how passion and determination can lead to extraordinary heights. And with Atout, she’s proving that the saree is not just a relic of the past - it’s the future of Indian fashion. - Rules, London
by Akash Khatri by Akash Khatri Rules, London 1 December 2021 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement When you think of the British culture, the one thing that comes to everyone’s mind is – the word ‘posh’. And what about the British food culture? Like every other part of the world, the UK has a conventional, classic, comforting and unique food. And what’s better than London’s oldest restaurant for getting a glimpse of the classic British cuisine? Rules, London’s oldest and finest restaurant was built in 1798 by Thomas Rule, in Covent Garden. The restaurant began as an oyster bar. Writers at the time rule started, admired the “rakes dandies and superior intelligence’s”. Not only has ‘Rules’ fed some of the world-famous writers such as Charles Dickens and William Thackeray but also has been mentioned in some great novels by John le Carrè and Claire Rayner. A cosy restaurant with an equally comforting bar, Rules gives one the feels of both- countryside and city. The classic British food on the menu is a great match with the friendly and luxurious service. Right from the moment you enter and leave your coat at the door, the place feels like you’ve actually entered the 18th century definition of ‘luxury’. Dining amongst the golden interiors, velvet red chairs like those in the old times and mahogany furniture, is an unexpected grandeur. And if you happen to visit on a Sunday, you might be lucky enough to see the bottle-green, vintage Rolls Royce- named ‘Bubbles’ in front of the restaurant. Coming to the food, Rules has a surprisingly wide choice on the menu. And it’s clearly obvious that after a huge success of 222 years, the food is outstanding. There’s a variety on the menu that displays the impeccable take on British delicacy perfectly served in fine silverware, brings forth the traditional flavours. When it comes to desserts, this is one restaurant in London with an amazingly evocative selection of sweet treats. And if you still haven’t had your fill, the cocktail bar upstairs gives you a choice of any cocktail of your liking with an elegant Rules twist. Rules is a heritage restaurant, with a fine collection of antique cartoons, drawings and paintings. The tradition is one of the most important features. This extremely comforting piece of history is full of life and yet takes you to a different era. With their crimson and gold carpets , and velvet lined booths, every inch of Rules depicts rich heritage. The menu is the best-of-British classics featuring native oysters, traditional beef, pies – fish or chicken, leek and mushroom. And you’ll be treated like an old friend from the moment you enter, as you’re greeted by the doorman. And you’ll be leaving with a satisfied heart and appetite and a smiling face. - Embracing Beauty: An Inspiring Journey Of Art With The Makeup Influencer “Kannikka Ahuja”
Embracing Beauty: An Inspiring Journey Of Art With The Makeup Influencer “Kannikka Ahuja” by Akshra Khandelwal Embracing Beauty: An Inspiring Journey Of Art With The Makeup Influencer “Kannikka Ahuja” 27 August 2023 FASHION Advertisement In a world where makeup artistry and beauty influencers reign supreme, some individuals have mastered the art and dedicated themselves to sharing their passion with others. Among them stands Kannikka Ahuja, a charismatic and talented makeup influencer whose journey of self-discovery and relentless pursuit of her dreams has touched the lives of countless individuals. In an exclusive interview with us, Kannikka Ahuja shares her experiences, challenges, and aspirations as she navigates the world of beauty and self-expression. "I'm doing very well. Thank you so much for asking. I've absolutely loved the work I and my team are doing. We're switching up our content, and it's been so much fun. On the personal front, things are finally getting better, and I'd love to talk more about it once it's all settled," Kannikka shares with a smile, embodying the strength and resilience that have defined her journey. Her path into the world of makeup influencing was far from conventional. As a child, Kannikka admits she was tomboyish and had little knowledge of makeup. However, as a teenager, something within her changed, and she deeply desired to learn the art of makeup. Embarking on this path of self-discovery, Kannikka started with self-makeup courses from skilled makeup artists in Delhi. But a pivotal moment after her separation propelled her to take a leap of faith and pursue her passion professionally. Kannikka flew to New York City to train at the prestigious Makeup Designory (MUD), setting the stage for her remarkable journey. The true inspiration for Kannikka's foray into the world of makeup influencing came when she met a bride during her freelancing days. The bride's grandmother, impressed with Kannikka's work, remarked humorously that she couldn't see all those layers of makeup that Kannikka was charging for. This lighthearted exchange sparked an idea in Kannikka's mind – to share her passion for makeup on the internet and teach others the art she had come to love. Thus, the transformation of Kannikka Ahuja into a beauty content creator and influencer began. "The moment someone from my online family messages me or comments on my posts that my videos and story tutorials have helped them learn makeup or debunked some makeup/skincare myths for them is when I feel the happiest about being a makeup influencer or, as I like to call it, a beauty content creator," Kannikka shares enthusiastically. Her joy lies not only in her creative expression but also in her positive impact on her audience. However, being a makeup influencer comes with its own set of challenges. One of the significant hurdles that Kannikka and other content creators face is the ever-changing algorithm of social media platforms. The constant influx of new launches, trends, and viral products can be overwhelming, leading to a desire to accumulate more than necessary – a pitfall she warns against as it can become a toxic habit. Kannikka shares some of her top makeup tips and hacks to offer her readers valuable insights. She emphasises the importance of skin preparation before makeup application to achieve a flawless finish. Waiting a minute between different skincare layers ensures optimal product absorption and prevents makeup from appearing patchy or pilling. These fundamental tips form the foundation of any successful makeup routine. For those looking to establish a skincare or makeup routine, Kannikka provides her priority recommendations. She advises beginners to include a gentle cleanser, a Hyaluronic Acid serum to be applied on damp skin, a suitable moisturiser based on their skin type, and most importantly, SPF for daytime protection. In the realm of makeup, she suggests investing in essential products like concealer, cream blush, loose powder, kohl pencil, mascara, and creamy matte nude lipstick, all of which contribute to a versatile and polished look. And, of course, a brow pencil, as brows can make or break the overall appearance. As someone who continues to draw inspiration from her peers, Kannikka shares that international makeup artists and influencers like Tati Westbrook, Nikkie Tutorials, and Rose Siard have played an influential role in her journey. Additionally, she expresses gratitude for Indian beauty creators like Shreya Jain, Malvika Sitlani, and Srishti Bhatia, who have inspired her growth and evolution in the field. Looking towards the future, Kannikka has grand aspirations. "The biggest goal that I have for myself is to represent India globally; I'm manifesting it through this interview. I want to evolve the way India does makeup and sees beauty. And lastly, I want to make my parents proud of my achievements and success while being extremely down-to-earth and humble since that matters the most!" she declares with determination. As our conversation with Kannikka Ahuja comes to a close, we are left inspired by her journey of self-discovery, resilience, and unwavering passion for makeup. Her success as a makeup influencer and beauty content creator stems from her exceptional skills and her genuine desire to empower and uplift others in their own beauty journeys. Kannikka's story is a testament to the transformative power of following one's heart and embracing the beauty within and around us. Simran Mittal: From Fashion To Entrepreneurship - A Journey Of Glam & Glow by Akshra Khandelwal Simran Mittal: From Fashion To Entrepreneurship - A Journey Of Glam & Glow 26 August 2023 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In the world of glitz and glamor, it's not every day that you come across a young and vibrant influencer who has successfully divided into entrepreneurship. Simran Mittal, a fashion and beauty industry name-making wave, recently sat with us for an exclusive interview. Her journey from being a teenage model to establishing her salon chain, "Glam & Glow," is inspiring. Let's dive into her world of creativity, passion, and empowerment. "How are you doing?" we asked, and she replied with a beaming smile, "I am doing wonderful." That cheerful demeanor set the tone for an engaging conversation, and we were eager to learn more about her journey. "To begin with, I come from a Punjabi business family; I was never a 'bright student'; I got decent grades and was not like everyone; I was waiting to finish school," Simran began, recounting her early days. It's fascinating how destiny often has its own plans for us, and for Simran, those plans were about to unfold. At 16, Simran started her journey as a model, walking on runways and featuring in brand shoots. But she realized that modeling alone wasn't enough to quench her thirst for success. Her real passion lay in winning pageants and entering the entertainment industry. However, a setback came when she was rejected from a prestigious pageant due to height criteria, which she believed was untrue. That moment left her shattered, but Simran, determined to prove herself, participated in another pageant and emerged victorious at 18. Little did she know that her journey would take an unexpected turn. "Never did I know my love for being in front of the camera would begin my career from my Instagram page," she said. With around 4-5k followers, brands started reaching out to her, and she unknowingly stumbled upon the realm of influencing. "One day, I got a call for a Fashion reality show, and I was all in to see what it's got," she continued. Though her stint on the show was brief, being the youngest contestant gave her invaluable experience. Simran confessed that entrepreneurship was always on her mind. At 19, she started her salon, "Glam & Glow," driven by her creativity and love for fashion. The salon chain aimed to deliver quality services with an eye for detailing. "It was never just a business for me; it was my baby that I wanted to grow and nurture," she said. Her entrepreneurial journey didn't stop there. At age 21, she launched her own nail cosmetic range, "S&T Beauty," which offered 100% vegan products with fewer chemicals, which was rare in the market. Simran's passion for fashion and glamming up is evident in her style. She described her fashion must-haves, including an Oversized White Shirt, Well-fitted High-waisted ripped jeans, and a Corset belt to elevate any look. Pastel co-ords are her go-to when she wants to look effortlessly glam. When asked about her fashion inspirations, she mentioned Blake Lively and Natasha Poonamwala, admiring their bossy and glamorous styles. Beyond fashion and entrepreneurship, Simran also emphasized the importance of self-care. She has been doing CrossFit for four years, which keeps her active and toned. Journaling and writing down affirmations are also part of her self-care routine. Simran shared some valuable advice for young creators as an influencer and entrepreneur. "Stay authentic instead of putting up content just for the sake of it," she said. "It's fine to take breaks and not post every day. Quality over quantity is crucial." She also emphasized the significance of sticking to one or two niches, which helps the audience connect better. Simran's message to the world reflects her compassionate and fearless nature. "Be kind and choose the right people to spend your time and energy with," she advised. She also urged everyone to express their opinions without fear and to keep experimenting without waiting for the "right time." Simran Mittal's journey is a testament to the power of passion, determination, and embracing unforeseen opportunities in the ever-evolving world of fashion and beauty. From facing rejection to becoming an influential entrepreneur, she has carved her own path, inspiring countless others. We couldn't help but be inspired by Simran's sheer determination and passion. - Seerat Kapoor – An All-rounder’s journey in today’s era
Seerat Kapoor – An All-rounder’s journey in today’s era by Aparajita Jaiswal Seerat Kapoor – An All-rounder’s journey in today’s era 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Seerat Kapoor has indeed been an all-rounder through her dancing, singing and acting. When asked about her experience training with Ashleigh Lobo, she reveals- “In all honesty, when I started off as a dancer, I had no long term plan of taking it up as a choreographer. I had merely taken it to train the passion that I have towards dance. I enrolled into Ashleigh’s company as a student, along with a couple of seniors who within my first class spotted me and offered me a scholarship program.” Moreover, the artist claims that she became a co-member of Ashleigh’s team and was landed with the opportunity of working as a choreographer in the movie, Rockstar. Taking a sneak peek into the artist’s journey as an actor, Seerat reveals that performing theatrical dance trained her to “face the camera and the big screen”. Seerat’s parents guided her through the process of training professionally as a singer. “I was very young and my parents had this knack of already understanding that there were two creative kids born to them, my brother and I. My parents thought if I trained, I could potentially stand up in the field of professional singing. At that point, all I wanted was to dance, sing and act. I remember a very open conversation at home about how Hindustani Classical music influences your vocal training.” The artist’s inspiration game is rather idealistic and taken from various forms. “I draw inspiration from everywhere, there are no one or two people, not just industry professionals, but the people I work with. Right from the management to my PR to the team that supports me; everyone inspires me. Seeing old ladies in the gym is an inspiration. Therefore, it’s holistic and I’m also inspired by many films and performances by actors.“ Being a public figure can bring out its “pros and cons”. According to the artist, the perception of a situation and whether it is bound to work in favour or not is in the stride of an actor. Her approach towards negative criticism is constructive as she looks at them as opportunities for her betterment in her art. Seerat Kapoor appeared in Slow Slow music video with Badshaah and Abhishek and has been working on several projects currently. She claims that featuring in Slow Slow music video was extremely good. The opportunity was out of her comfort zone. She added that meeting Badshah created a personal level attachment on a deeper level. In terms of her recent projects, the artist reveals that she has a Bollywood debut release with Tushar Kapoor Entertainment Productions along with veterans such as Nawazuddin Siddiqui sir. She is currently filming another movie with Suryadevara Naga Vamsi.“ The conversation was extremely delightful. Seerat concluded the interview with a heart- wrenching message for her fans. “I want to tell my fans that they have been such a great support and I won’t stay silent here, because they very loudly cheer for me when I put up something.“ #TaraTaraKhandelwalBooksBooksandbeyondBoundWritersReadersAuthorsLiterary #Love #depression #society #Seerat #Fashion #SeeratKapoor #lutopia #Anxiety #Reality #LutopiaMagazine #skincare #Life #Kapoor #Mentalhealth SEARCH Actor Kangna Sharma gives a sneak peek into the movie of her life COVER STORIES Finding Power In Individuality: In Conversation With The Stunning Alina Rai COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Neon Nights And Yellow Lights: The Sonic World Of Natania Lalwani 30 April 2025 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement

- Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist
Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist By Anushka Sharma Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist 17 April 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In a world where Instagram filters reign supreme and beauty standards constantly evolve, the concept of pretty privilege has sparked countless debates. But what exactly is pretty privilege, and does it really exist? Let's embark on a journey through the realms of attractiveness and societal advantages to uncover the truth behind this captivating notion. First things first, what is pretty privilege? Simply put, it's the idea that attractive individuals enjoy certain benefits solely based on their appearance. From getting better job opportunities to receiving special treatment in social settings, the notion suggests that being conventionally attractive comes with its set of perks. But hold on a second! Before we jump to conclusions, let's break it down. Is pretty privilege a real phenomenon or just a figment of our imagination? Well, the answer isn't as black and white as we might think. Sure, being attractive might catch the eye of others and open some doors, but does it guarantee success and happiness? Not quite. While a beautiful face might grab attention, it's what lies beneath the surface that truly matters. Personality, skills, and character play a far more significant role in determining one's journey through life. Let's take a closer look at some common scenarios often associated with pretty privilege. Ever heard of the phrase, "Beauty opens doors"? Well, it might hold some truth. Studies have shown that attractive individuals are more likely to land job interviews and receive favorable treatment in certain situations. But does that mean they have it easy all the time? Certainly not. Consider this: A stunning applicant might catch the recruiter's eye, but it's their qualifications and skills that seal the deal. Pretty privilege might get your foot in the door, but it's your capabilities that keep it open. After all, no amount of beauty can compensate for incompetence. In social settings, attractive people might attract more attention and receive compliments more frequently. But does that translate to genuine connections and meaningful relationships? Not necessarily. True friendships and romantic connections are built on mutual respect, shared interests, and emotional compatibility, not just physical appearance. Moreover, beauty standards vary widely across cultures and individuals. What one society deems attractive might be completely different from another's perception. So, who decides what's pretty and what's not? It's all subjective. Now, let's address the elephant in the room: discrimination based on appearance. Yes, unfortunately, it does exist. Studies have shown that less attractive individuals might face prejudice in certain situations, such as hiring processes or social interactions. But does that mean pretty privilege is the flip side of the same coin? Not quite. Rather than focusing on the privileges or disadvantages associated with appearance, perhaps it's time we shift our perspective. Instead of fixating on beauty standards and societal expectations, let's celebrate diversity and individuality. After all, true beauty lies in embracing our uniqueness and loving ourselves for who we are, not how we look. So, does pretty privilege exist? Well, it's complicated. While attractiveness might open some doors, it's what we do once we're inside that truly matters. - Neha Bhasin: ‘I want to take Indian music to the same global level as international artists like Michael Jackson, Beyonce’
Neha Bhasin: ‘I want to take Indian music to the same global level as international artists like Michael Jackson, Beyonce’ by Rupashree Ravi Neha Bhasin: ‘I want to take Indian music to the same global level as international artists like Michael Jackson, Beyonce’ 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Singer and songwriter Neha Bhasin has carved a unique artistic identity over the years as a pop artist and folk musician in India. Known for her popular film songs ‘Kuch Khaas,’ ‘Dhunki’ as well as ‘Hum Naye Geet Sunaye’ from the girl group, Viva! she has established herself as a powerful vocalist and independent artist, who has broken many stereotypes of the music industry. In a recent interview, Bhasin shared details about her upcoming singles and collaborations, the struggles of being an independent artist, and her future goals. She also spoke about her biggest inspirations and what she wishes to achieve in the ever-changing industry. “I started my journey as an independent artist right after Viva! but I released my first album in 2010. I’ve been very fortunate to not just sustain myself but balance a great career between Bollywood music and also my own independent music. Of course, you need good music, funds, and the right support system. I believe what really matters is the connection you share with your audience and the music that you're producing while maintaining the consistency of the good stuff that you produce. It’s not easy, but consistency is the key,” she said. Bhasin shared with us that she enjoys a wide range of music genres. Since she was young, she always enjoyed listening to pop rock and classic rock bands like Aerosmith and Pink Floyd. Old school artists like Prince have influenced her musical career. She cites Michael Jackson as her biggest musical influence during the start of her career and Adele as her all-time favourite. “I love keeping myself updated with the world's music space. I listen to current dance genres and I’ve also recently warmed up to a lot of Sufi music. Many artists have inspired me like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Queen, Aerosmith, and Bon Jovi. So many artists from Billy Joel to BTS have moved me. Among Indian artists, I would say Kishore da, Asha Ji, Lata Ji, Reshma Ji, Noor Jahan Ji are my favourites. Some current artists I love are Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, and Sam Smith It's typical to put them in one word because I feel every great artist has a great impact on your life but I think the reason why I started loving music was Michael Jackson,” she shared. When asked if any album or single is in the works, she said, “Yes, I'm working on my next single. Singles, rather and some folk song originals. Once they're ready I would know which is the next one for release. I’m always working on new music.” On artists that she would love to collaborate with, she mentioned singer and composer Amaal Malik. She expressed her interest to collaborate with Punjabi artists and also shared that she is currently in talks with composers Yuvan Shankar Raja and Devi Sri Prasad from the south industry. She hopes that there will be some big stops coming this year with regard to international collaborations, although it is a bit far-fetched at the moment. As a public figure who has been a part of the industry for many years, Bhasin has been very vocal about social issues like sexism and body shaming and has taken part in a lot of campaigns. “I've had different sizes of bodies in the span of my career. At the very beginning, I was actively body-shamed by the people that I worked with. Body positivity is something I really believe in. It’s something I was very sensitive about because it really impacted my life. I suffered from body image issues and food disorders for a very long time. So, I understand the impact it has on a young person's mind. I hate the word ‘plus size.’ I feel like your body is a beautiful armour that God has given for your soul's residence. It should be appreciated and loved. I think it's my responsibility to put out the right message especially, being a victim of body shaming myself. Hence, I'm active about it,” she said. The award-winning singer shared that her biggest goal or mission as a musical artist is to produce great music that means something in the world. She shared, “The kind of music that I grew up listening to, that gave me goosebumps and changed my life, made me the artist I am today. I want to be the change that I want to see in the industry. My job is not to preach to people or to change them, but to live by example. That's what I'm doing and that's what I’ve always done. I hope to make my label bigger and have more resources to produce good music. As of now, I'm the only artist who’s in it. I'll be happy if we can get more artists in the future. My mission is to take Punjabi folk music global. I've kind of resurrected a dead genre and I want to make that bigger and better.” Her ultimate dream to achieve in the music industry is to live a legacy of great work and for people to remember her work as legendary music. She wants to take India to the same global level as international artists like Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Madonna and have worldwide concerts with great production value. “Of course, my ultimate dream is to win a Grammy and release my English album, which is something that I’ve not done much about till now except for writing good music,” she added. Well, it completely depends on the mental or chosen age of the person that how they want to present themselves through their fashion. Many teenagers love wearing sneakers and accessories while a lot of them prefer to adorn baggy jeans with loose T-shirts. In a social event, no two people of the same age will dress the same. Woman A would come in a little black dress while woman B would wear a shimmer top with boyfriend jeans. Fashion and gender The identity surrounding men and women's fashion is another way fashion shapes and represents us. For example, skirts are for women and pants for men. Make-up is only for women while men cannot wear mascara even if they want! If you notice, fashion represents our identities as male and female, even though the world is awakening and the boundary between gender according to gender is fading. The fashion where women must cover their skins with long skirts and full tops reflects the value of not just an individual buy an entire culture. However, the times are changing and we, as human beings, need to understand that fashion and culture may go hand in hand but it doesn't have to be as per the norms, but individual choice of men and women both.
