  • Tom Ford: The Fashion Genie

Tom Ford: The Fashion Genie by Aparajita Jaiswal Tom Ford: The Fashion Genie 1 May 2021 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Among many of our favourite luxury brand designers, Thomas Carlyle Ford, an American fashion designer and filmmaker, is truly one of the most inspiring and looked upon creators of fashion. He launched his eponymous luxury brand in 2006, having previously served as the creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Ford currently also serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Tom Ford had quite the journey, figuring out his interests. At age 16, he enrolled at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, but quickly dropped out. He moved to New York City to study art history at New York University where he met Ian Falconer, who took him to Studio 54 for the first time, spiking his interest in acting and directing. Ford dropped out after a year, focusing on acting in television commercials. Ford began studying interior architecture at The New School’s art and design college, Parsons, in New York City. He kept visiting Studio 54, where he realized he was gay. The club’s disco-era glamor ended up being a major influence on his later designs. Before his last year at New School, Ford spent a year and a half in Paris, where he worked as an intern in Chloé’s press office, inspiring his interest in fashion. He spent his final year at The New School studying fashion, but graduated with a degree in architecture. In an interview with The New York Times, Ford said, “If I was ever going to become a good designer, I had to leave America. My own culture was inhibiting me. Too much style in America is tacky. It’s looked down upon to be too stylish. Europeans, however, appreciate style.” At the time, Italian fashion house Gucci was struggling financially and was seeking to strengthen its women’s ready-to-wear presence as a part of a brand overhaul. The company’s creative director, Dawn Mello hired Ford as the brand’s chief women’s ready-to-wear designer in 1990 and Ford moved to Milan. “I was talking to a lot of people, and most didn’t want the job,” Mello said. “For an American designer to move to Italy to join a company that was far from being a brand would have been pretty risky.” Ford’s role at Gucci rapidly expanded; he was designing menswear within six months, and shoes soon after that. He also took over Richard Lambertson left as design director in 1992, heading the brand’s ready-to-wear, fragrances, image, advertising, and store design. In 1993, when he was in charge of designing eleven product lines, Ford worked eighteen-hour days. Although there were creative tensions between Ford and Maurizio Gucci, the company’s chairman and 50% owner, inspiring Maurizio Gucci wanted to fire Ford, Domenico De Sole insisted that he remain. Nonetheless, Ford’s work during the early 1990s was primarily behind the scenes; his contributions to Gucci were overshadowed by those of Mello, who was the company’s public face. In 1994, Ford was promoted to Creative Director of Gucci. By 1999, the house, which had been almost bankrupt when Ford joined, was valued at more than $4 billion. When Gucci acquired the house of Yves Saint Laurent in 1999, Ford was named Creative Director of that label as well. In April 2004, Ford parted ways with the Gucci group after he and CEO Domenico de Sole, who is credited as Ford’s partner in Gucci’s success, failed to agree with Pinault Printemps Redoute’s boss over control of the Group. He has since referred to this experience as “devastating” and as a “midlife crisis” because he had “put everything into that for fifteen years”. When Ford left in 2004, Gucci Group was valued at $10 billion, hiring four individuals to split the work Ford had done. After leaving Gucci, Ford launched a line of menswear, beauty, eyewear, and accessories in 2006, named after himself, “Tom Ford”. De Sole became chairman of the label. Ford has described “the Tom Ford customer” as international, cultured, well-traveled, and possessing disposable income. For women, he added “strong and intelligent women who know their own style”. From the time we’re born until we die, we’re kept busy with artificial stuff that isn’t important. Tom Ford First Lady Michelle Obama wore an ivory floor-length evening gown designed by Ford to Buckingham Palace in 2011. He has also dressed Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, Daniel Craig, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Julianne Moore, Hugh Jackman, Jon Hamm, and Henry Cavill. Ford designed Daniel Craig’s suits for his last three James Bond films: Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. Jay Z released a song titled “Tom Ford” with “Tom Ford” rapped numerous times within the song. Ford responded that he was flattered and “it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.” Following the song’s release, Ford received a huge spike in online search engine queries. Ford has been called a “fashion icon” and a “style icon” and he was included in “All-TIME 100 Fashion Icons” list. Ford has been included in several best-dressed lists, such as International Best Dressed List,The Guardian’s “The 50 best-dressed over-50s”, and British GQ’s “50 Best Dressed Men in Britain 2015”. He was featured on the cover of the 2011 spring/summer issue of Another Man, giving his opinion on what makes the modern day gentleman. He won several awards including several VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards and Council of Fashion Designers of America. Ford is known for sexy clothes, making provocative statements, and creating racy advertisements. Ford’s designs convey a “sophisticated sex appeal” and he has been credited for “bringing sexy back”. His advertisement campaigns have drawn controversy for use of nudity and “provocative sexual imagery”. Ford is also known to pose with celebrities and models in his ad campaigns. Ford is not only a designer but also a creative artist. Ford directed the Academy Award-nominated films A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals. In March 2005, Ford announced the launch of his film production company, Fade to Black. In 2009 he made his directorial debut with A Single Man, based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. The drama stars Colin Firth as an LA-based, gay college professor, alongside Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult and Matthew Goode. The novel was adapted by David Scearce and Ford; Ford was also one of the producers. In 2015, Ford became attached to direct Nocturnal Animals, an adaptation of the Austin Wright novel Tony and Susan. The film was released in 2016. Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams played the lead roles of Tony and Susan. Michael Shannon, Armie Hammer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Isla Fisher co-starred in the film. The film received praise from critics, as well as winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. • Porsche Taycan Turbo GT : Luxury In Overdrive

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT : Luxury In Overdrive By Ananya Patankar Porsche Taycan Turbo GT : Luxury In Overdrive 19 July 2025 LIFESTYLE Advertisement The silhouette of speed, frozen in time. With Yas Marina in its rear-view mirror, Porsche’s electric flagship is rewriting the language of luxury performance. On the cool tarmac of Yas Marina Circuit , beneath the desert stars and surrounded by the hushed intensity of track lights, Porsche made history. The Taycan Turbo GT didn’t just break the record for fastest production electric vehicle around the 5.281-kilometre Formula 1-grade circuit—it shattered it, clocking in a blistering 2:07.247. With GT racing driver Ramez Azzam behind the wheel and FIA observers on watch, it was speed redefined—silent, surging, and steeped in precision. The moment was official. The message was unmistakable: this isn’t just Porsche’s fastest EV. It’s a revolution on rubber. Meet the new, redefined and evermore powerful Taycan Turbo GT. Every surface, every seam of this Porsche is a study in how performance can meet poise. The optional Weissach Package strips away the rear seats in the name of performance purity, while carbon fibre elements and a dramatic fixed rear wing don’t just add character—they subtract drag. Even when parked, it seems ready to pounce. It’s not just streamlined—it’s sculpted, as if every curve has been air-brushed by speed itself. And yet, despite its aggressive silhouette, the Taycan retains Porsche’s design ethos of grace without gimmick. This is not a car you drive. It’s a car that propels you. With up to 1108 PS on tap thanks to Launch Control and Attack Mode—borrowed straight from Porsche’s Formula E bloodline—the Taycan Turbo GT explodes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds. Top speed? 305 km/h. But those are just numbers. What is truly astonishing is how it all feels: the torque isn’t delivered, it’s detonated. Corners don’t resist, they invite. Straightaways feel like warp zones. It’s not brute strength—it’s balletic savagery, every motion engineered with minute attention and unleashed with seamless poise. At the heart of the Taycan Turbo GT lies a pulse inverter derived from Porsche’s 99X Formula E car , boosting current and response time to near-telepathic levels. The Porsche Active Ride suspension, tuned specifically for this GT variant, balances wheel loads like a tightrope walker mid-performance. And those brakes—lightweight ceramics refined with optimized disc chambers—shave kilograms where it counts. Even the weight savings from the Weissach Package are deliberate: 75 kilograms gone, and not a gram wasted. Its performance is measured in milliseconds and engineered in milligrams. The result? A machine that doesn’t just harness electricity—it commands it. As for the driving experience, low-slung and snug, the driver’s seat in the Taycan Turbo GT isn’t a throne—it’s an exoskeleton. You feel it before you even move: the pulse of potential underfoot, the poised anticipation of launch. As Azzam noted, “You sit low in the car so you feel connected.” And connected you are—every flick of the wrist on the steering, every feather of the throttle, met with immediate, almost emotional response. This isn’t merely about performance. It’s about presence. The GT isn’t trying to impress you. It’s trying to include you—in something precise, poised, and unrelentingly Porsche. And yet, despite its circuit credentials, the Taycan Turbo GT is still wrapped in the refined language of everyday Porsche luxury. Inside, it’s all clean interfaces, sculpted surfaces, and tactile satisfaction. It's as practical as it is provocative—offering the driver all the data, comfort, and control needed for daily roads, even as it carries the DNA of a track predator. There's an ease here, a confidence. No shouting. No theatre. Just seamless transitions—from traffic light to track lap, from asphalt to afterglow. There was a time when electric was seen as an alternative. Then, it became inevitable. Now, thanks to machines like the Taycan Turbo GT, it’s aspirational. This is not just Porsche's fastest production EV. It’s one of its most significant. A car that shows how sustainability and sensation can coexist—without compromise. With every lap record it shatters, with every supercar it silently humbles, the Taycan Turbo GT whispers a truth that’s getting louder with every passing year: the future isn’t coming. It’s already at the start line. And it’s wearing a Porsche crest. • Narrating Stories With Fabric: Rick Roy’s Masterful Ability To Influence An Era Of Fashion

Narrating Stories With Fabric: Rick Roy’s Masterful Ability To Influence An Era Of Fashion by Akshay T S Narrating Stories With Fabric: Rick Roy’s Masterful Ability To Influence An Era Of Fashion 7 July 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement With his creative flair and impeccable attention to detail, the costume designer Rick Roy brings characters to life through the power of wardrobe. Steeped in a world of imagination and boundless creativity, the costume designer is a masterful storyteller in his own right. He has a unique ability of translating the essence of a character into visual form, crafting costumes that not only enhance the narrative but also become an integral part of the storytelling process. Each stitch, fabric choice, and accessory speak volumes, reflects the nuances of personality, era, and emotion. He is a master collaborator, working closely with directors, actors, and production teams to bring their collective vision to life. He has worked with a variety of Bollywood films where his costume designing ability has melded his own artistic instincts with the broader creative vision of the production. When asked about why he chose costume designing as a career, he inferred that he was always an artistic person with an eye for aesthetics and colors. He had never shown much interest in traditional studies and he was glad to have found the support of his parents since they were also pretty much inclined towards art. He further talks about what usually goes on inside his mind, revealing that insanity paves way to the creation of art. His head is usually brimming with multitudes of ideas and he finds it hard to fixate on one specific idea for a design. As a costume designer, he loves creating different looks for different characters in a variety of films and that way he is able to channel these ideas into multiple areas. Diving into the topic of fashion critiques with the question of which Indian fashion critique, in his opinion, does their job well, he takes a moment before revealing his answer. He believes that there is a lot of fashion know-how that goes behind fashion critiquing and it serves more than just the purpose of entertainment. There is more to fashion critiquing than just criticization and he is slowly learning to master it on his own. So, there is no specific fashion critique that comes to his mind yet. When asked about who his favourite fashion designer is, he immediately expresses his admiration for the international designer John Galliano. Other designers whom he really looks up to are Alexander McQueen, Manish Arora, Tarun Wendell, Abu Sandeep, Rohit Bal, Jivalaya Sabya, and Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna. He finds their individual voice and authentic, trend-setting viewpoint to be very inspiring. His personal sense of style can be described as a mix of the eccentric rock grunge, showy disco colours yet something that brags a comfortable fit. He believes he is a maximalist with a bit of ‘extra’ in all of his looks, but he further clarifies how careful and economical he is with his purchases so that his every buy can be utilised in the best way possible. Another candid question of what place has he learnt the most about fashion from, he reveals that a lot of the major learnings of his career has come from people more than the place itself. They have taught him more than just the technicalities of fashion and one of the people whom he credits the most is one of his co-workers Malaika. He elaborates more on the workings of the fashion industry when a particularly insightful question about what needs to be changed I the fashion industry is asked. He majorly talked about trends, iterating that people need to stop following trends and instead, start creating them. There is an individual point of view that needs to be developed. One of the major inputs in the Indian fashion industry comes from wedding couture and a lot of designers have followed through with the same genre, limiting the Indian fashion industry to that specific genre mainly. He enunciates how he finds inspiration in people when asked the question of who or what inspires him the most. Most of his designs are for the characters on screen and hence, they also serve as the source of inspiration of him. He carefully understands the nuances of a character and works upon their wardrobe instead of creating a look that pleases his personal tastes. He further tells us about his favourite project till date which was one of the recent Bollywood films called ‘Sarvagunn Sampann’ that he has worked on. It was one of his best experiences as it gave him a lot of creative freedom and seamless support from the director and the producer of the film. There was a lot of trust involved in the process and he truly felt at home as he worked upon this exciting project. Perhaps this is what made it one of his favourite projects till date. With his undeniable talent and passion, Rick Roy enhances and illuminates the world of storytelling, infusing it with an enchanting visual tapestry that allows us to truly believe in the magic of the characters we encounter. His artistry and love for fashion is a true reminder of the profound impact costume has in shaping our perception and connection with the stories we all hold so dear. • From Dental Drills To Instagram Thrills: The Journey Of Mekhala Bawsay

From Dental Drills To Instagram Thrills: The Journey Of Mekhala Bawsay By Anushka Sharma From Dental Drills To Instagram Thrills: The Journey Of Mekhala Bawsay 16 August 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In an era where digital transformations are reshaping careers and creating new pathways, few stories are as intriguing as that of Mekhala Bawsay . Once a practising dentist with a flourishing clinic, Mekhala now stands as a prominent figure in the digital realm, an influencer who has mastered the art of content creation. But how did this remarkable transition occur? Let’s dive into Mekhala’s journey and uncover the secrets behind her success. Mekhala’s venture into the world of influence was anything but planned. Four years ago, while juggling a dental practice and part-time modelling, she felt an undeniable pull towards the fashion and beauty industry. "I realised that being in front of the camera, getting ready, and creating content made me genuinely happy," Mekhala recalls. Despite a successful dental practice, she couldn't ignore her true passion. The decision to shift careers wasn't easy, especially coming from a family of doctors. However, Mekhala was determined. "One day, I decided to pursue what I actually wanted to do rather than what I was supposed to do," she explains. She began posting content on Instagram, even before the advent of Reels, focusing on beautiful, curated photos. Slowly but surely, her follower count grew from a few hundred to several thousand. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Mekhala seized the opportunity to hone her skills. With events and launches on hold, she and a friend invested time in learning about photo and video creation, editing, and upgrading their gear. This period of intense learning paid off when Reels emerged, revolutionising Instagram and catapulting Mekhala’s following to over 400,000. Brands took notice, and her collaborations expanded significantly. Interestingly, Mekhala’s journey was entirely self-taught. Despite pursuing an MBA in marketing, she learned the intricacies of digital content creation on her own. "There was no such recognized field as an influencer back then," she notes. Her ability to adapt, learn, and create captivating content set her apart in an increasingly crowded space. But Mekhala’s transformation wasn’t just about personal passion; it also required strategic thinking. She emphasises the importance of loving what you do, even if it means making sacrifices. "Unless you love what you do, you won't feel like getting up in the morning," she advises. For her, the joy of creating content outweighed the security of a traditional career in dentistry. Mekhala’s success also stems from her understanding of the digital marketing landscape. Today, she runs a digital marketing agency, managing brands and handling multiple projects simultaneously. "I enjoy this more," she admits, highlighting the fulfilment she derives from her current role. A vital aspect of Mekhala’s influence lies in her authenticity. She remains true to her roots, focusing on skincare , beauty, and lifestyle content. As a new mother, she has seamlessly integrated mom-influencing into her repertoire. Her relatable and genuine approach resonates with her audience, fostering trust and engagement. When asked about skin care tips, Mekhala shares timeless advice passed down from her mother. "I used to apply a lot of organic sandalwood," she reveals. She also swears by coconut oil for removing makeup, emphasising the importance of nourishing the skin naturally. Her commitment to these practices has helped her maintain a clear and healthy complexion. Mekhala’s rise to influencer stardom is not just about posting pretty pictures. It's about strategic content creation, continuous learning, and staying true to oneself. For aspiring influencers, she offers valuable advice: "Find your talent and work on it. You don’t need to invest heavily initially. Start small and keep improving." In terms of finances, Mekhala sheds light on the potential earnings in the influencer industry. While initial stages might involve barter collaborations, serious income opportunities arise as follower counts grow. "The pricing can start from 5,000 to 10,000 INR and go up to 1 lakh to 2 lakhs per brand collaboration," she explains. However, she notes that regular income often requires consistent collaborations. Mekhala also addresses the competitive nature of the industry, particularly in Mumbai. While the city offers numerous opportunities for brand collaborations, she believes there’s untapped potential in regional areas. "The more local you are, the more chances there are for you to grow," she asserts, encouraging influencers to stay connected to their roots. Reflecting on her journey, Mekhala’s story is a testament to the power of following one’s passion, adapting to change, and embracing new opportunities. A recipient of an award of recognition among 45 healthcare change makers on social media , Her transition from dentist to influencer serves as an inspiring example of how embracing digital platforms can lead to uncharted territories and fulfilling careers. For those considering a similar path, Mekhala’s journey underscores the importance of authenticity, hard work, and unwavering dedication to one’s true calling. • The Pygmalion Effect

SOCIETY by Akshaya Chandar The Pygmalion Effect 6 August 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Not many may know - the ancient Greek mythological tale of Pygmalion, has been a source of inspiration for more than a hundred works of literature, and about fifty films and plays. To refresh, Pygmalion was the prince of Cyprus and was a great sculptor. He creates an ivory statue of a woman so passionately that he gets obsessed with it. He prays to god for the statue to come alive and the God grants him the same! The Pygmalion is one of the most famous plays by George Bernard Shaw. The wisdom passed down to generations that a strong will can induce life even in a rock. George Bernard Shaw put the same prophecy in the play, and it was also created in the musical composition 'My Fair Lady'. Today we refer to the concept, that a person will achieve or perform as he is expected to perform as "The Pygmalion Effect". The main idea concerning The Pygmalion Effect is that if you believe that someone is capable of achieving greatness then that person will indeed achieve greatness. In other words, believing in potential simply creates potential. "The Pygmalion Effect" may occur all around us-whether it be at work, at schools or even at home. Closer home, the tour of Akshardham Temple at Delhi starts with the same concept of a rock turning into a human, with the qualities that the sculptor sees in it. Here at school, we the parents and teachers can create better students, scholars and pupils just by believing in the fact that they are the best. Let that be in behavior, academics, social conduct or any such attribute. This is truer, when working with underachievers. All it takes is, really believing in this fact. If we relate this closely, for instance, you tell a new teacher in a school - who has no previous experience with her new to be students, that a particular student of hers is extremely bright and clever. The new teacher will automatically be more supportive, more encouraging, teach more challenging material, be patient and allow that student more time to answer questions. The main concern is that this new teacher entirely believes that this student is bright and clever, and so is the converse for which we should be more careful. If I co-relate this with my young friends, I would say-just start communicating with yourself and others, with strengths and qualities, or skills and talents. You must start focusing on all that is positive and dismiss everything that is negative. Believe in yourself and others and you will give yourself the power to change lives. Every human, including you, has strengths, qualities, attributes, talents and skills. Use it for your best advantage. If the famous octopus Paul could create history in World Cup Football by his predictions, should we talk more for humans. Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be. #PygmalionEffect #Cyprus #Sculptor #GeorgeBernardShaw #Myfairlady #Greek SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? • Fashion Pieces That Will Never Go Out Of Style

Fashion Pieces That Will Never Go Out Of Style by Priti Sharma Fashion Pieces That Will Never Go Out Of Style 6 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Our sense of style is quite individual to us; it's a fantastic and special method to showcase our personalities while being at ease and making a significant statement about who we are. However, maintaining a current wardrobe and feeling great in our outfits may be challenging in our ever-evolving society and trends. Yes, being current with fashion trends will keep you current, but every genuine fashionista understands that you must invest in a few timeless pieces if you want to stay in style. If you want to seem effortlessly put together, making purchases of wardrobe essentials is the way to go. Fear not, though; despite the constant influx of new fashion fads, there are a few timeless essentials that we can always rely on, no matter what the most recent trend may be. In addition to being fashionable, these kinds of clothes will make your outfits seem to be put together and prevent you from making impulsive purchases. Do you have any upcoming shopping or wardrobe updates? Here are a few timeless pieces of clothes that will always be in fashion: Black Skinny Jeans I am aware that Gen Z is at war with thin jeans. Mom jeans are also a great way to switch up your look. But nothing can match or take the place of a black pair of slim jeans for a timeless, polished appearance. They won't take attention away from your gorgeous face while still giving every body shape a wonderful, feminine silhouette. Dark skinnies have the advantage of being both dressy when paired with a lovely top and shoes and informal when worn with a tee and sneakers. Your trusty black skinny jeans will never fail you. Classic Heels One heel never goes out of style: the traditional pump. Other heels, such as strappy, clunky, lace-up, or platform heels, come and go. Sometimes all you need is a pair of timeless shoes to instantly dress up an ensemble. They instantly give us a bit more height, lengthen our legs, and are easy to put on and take off. Simple heels are always a good choice, whether you're wearing them with jeans, a pencil skirt, a pantsuit, or a fancy dress. A White V-Neck Tee Hear us out: Although this might sound simple (or perhaps too simple), we've discovered that less is frequently more when it comes to long-lasting wardrobe necessities. A white t-shirt can be worn with anything; you can dress it up by tucking it into a long skirt or be cool and casual by letting it dangle from your favorite shorts. White t-shirts aren't spectacular, but they're always a nice option and let other pieces stand out while serving as a wonderful foundation. A Little Black Dress The current flowery maxi dress trend that we see streaming across our feeds is easy to get sucked into and fascinated with, but the little black dress has never stopped being a timeless option that gives its user a feeling of mystery, elegance, and timelessness. Knowing you have an excellent choice for practically every event in your go-to LBD will always make those difficult selections simpler. A Chunky Pullover Sweater If you're going to remain warm, at least do it stylishly! Chunky sweaters are basic, uncomplicated garments that will always make us feel both put-together and appropriate for the season, from the moment the fall leaves start to change until the spring temperatures start to rise. A bulky sweater may look good whether you tuck it into a skirt and wear knee-high boots with it or wear it with your favorite pair of jeans. A Leather Jacket Thanks to leather jackets, even the most basic outfits may be spiced up in less than ten seconds. Additionally, the leather jacket looks great with nearly everything and there is a tonne of faux-leather alternatives available that feel much like genuine leather. Wear it to liven up an otherwise too plain ensemble of jeans and a t-shirt or pair it with a flowery, feminine dress to add some edge to your appearance. A Pea Coat Even though we have to bundle up during the colder months, we still want to appear stylish, right? Thankfully, there are several jackets available to select from, but the pea coat is unrivaled in terms of fashion and practicality. This coat matches any outfit, will never go out of style, gives you a classy look, and will genuinely keep you warm. It comes in an amazingly broad selection of colors (try red if you're feeling brave!). Changing fashion trends are possible. Yet, timeless clothing never goes out of style. It's always a good idea to invest in classic pieces of clothes since they make it easier for you to seem put together and well dressed. Just be careful to choose items that complement your body type and style preferences. #Fashion #Style #NeverGoOutOfStyle #LittleBlackDress #WhiteVneckTshirt #ClassicHeels #LeatherJacket SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution 19 October 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

Think flowing gowns, sharp silhouettes and bold colours, all coming together in a collection that proved once again why she’s a force in MENA fashion. The collection featured soft and traditional feminine silhouettes with fluid shapes and dynamic palettes with details like twisted knots around the waist, heart-shaped necklines, ruffles and the models’ wet hair strands that were fixed in winding shapes down their faces. Zaki’s collection is a masterclass when it comes to storytelling and narratives, where each piece unfolds like a new chapter. The display showcased a visual journey which began from dark, structured silhouettes to softer, ethereal designs symbolizing resilience and renewal. Contrasting elements, like sleek black dresses and fluid pastels, mirror personal growth, while the suspenseful soundtrack enhances the storytelling. Every detail felt like a tribute to the luxury and cultural exchange of the past, woven into couture. The grand finale? A show-stopping gown—ornate, regal, and covered in intricate beadwork, bringing history to life. Angelo Estera didn’t just put on a show; he told a story of luxury, heritage, and timeless style. A Fashion Capital In The Making Dubai Fashion Week at Dubai Design District (D3) is a celebration of style and creativity. With a mix of new talent and big names, it highlights Dubai’s growing influence in fashion. Each show brings bold designs, exciting moments, and fresh energy to the runway. • The planet’s number one choice of beverage

by Aparajita Jaiswal The planet’s number one choice of beverage 7 July 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Is coffee just a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans? A love of all things connected with coffee has brought both large and small companies into the world of coffee production and trading. Coffee culture is constantly changing as coffee drinkers seek new ways to enjoy their favorite beverage. People get together for a cup of coffee and a whole cosmos of conversations. In North America and a lot of western European countries, Starbucks and other coffee chains have dominated the market because they are providing to the customers a complete experience around coffee. Coffee and friends, coffee and work, coffee and snacks and coffee to go! The Irish mix coffee with whiskey and they call it “Irish coffee”. In Italy the espresso and espresso machine were born and made into the favorite whole-day beverage of Italians. In Greece, there is an old fashioned coffee shop for old gentlemen, the “kafenio”, where they drink Greek coffee and exchange political ideas or they play cards and a board game called “tavli”. Also, some countries, like Colombia or Brazil, the whole economy is based in coffee. Although, the majority of coffee is produced in Brazil. It produces 40% of the world’s coffee. Interestingly enough, the word espresso comes from Italian and means “expressed” or “forced out”. Espresso is made by forcing very hot water under high pressure through finely ground, compacted coffee. Wherein, the cappuccino was named after Capuchin friars because its color resembles the Capuchin robe. Contrary to the popular belief, dark roast and light roast coffee actually have a similar amount of caffeine. “Coffee – the favorite drink of the civilized world.” – Thomas Jefferson Historically, the word ‘coffee’ comes from the Arabic word ‘qahwah’ which refers to a type of wine. Before coffee became widely available, the popular breakfast drink was beer. No one knows exactly how or when coffee was discovered, though there are many legends about its origin. It is said that coffee grown worldwide can trace its heritage back centuries to the ancient coffee forests on the Ethiopian plateau. Legend believes, the goat herder, Kaldi, first discovered the potential of these beloved beans. The story goes that that Kaldi discovered coffee after he noticed that after eating the berries from a certain tree, his goats became so energetic that they did not want to sleep at night. Kaldi reported his findings to the abbot of the local monastery, who made a drink with the berries and found that it kept him alert through the long hours of evening prayer. The abbot shared his discovery with the other monks at the monastery, and knowledge of the energising berries began a journey which would bring these beans across the globe. Before people learned how to brew coffee, east African tribes mixed coffee berries with animal fat and consumed it as food. It takes a lot to brew the perfect cup of coffee. Some of the best coffee in the world comes from high-quality beans and unique processing methods. Each of these specialty coffees is known for their distinct flavour and aroma, as well as their high price tag. “Kopi Luwak” is the most expensive coffee in the world. It comes from Indonesia and is made from beans digested from the Asian Palm Civet. In other words, it comes from cat poop. It sells for €350 and up per kilo! Another one of the most expensive coffee in the world is Black Ivory Coffee. It can cost up to $1,100 per kilogram. This coffee is produced from part-digested coffee cherries eaten and defecated by Thai elephants. “Beethoven was such an ardent coffee lover that he’d count 60 beans per cup before making his brew.” Not only can your daily cup of joe help you feel more energised, burn fat and improve physical performance, it may also lower your risk of several conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. In fact, coffee may even boost longevity. A study by the University of Texas has found that men who drank two cups a day were 42 per cent less likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction compared to men who didn’t. Studies have shown that drinking coffee may lower your risk of depression. Globally people consume about 2.25 billion cups of coffee every day. Coffee is most effective if you drink it between 9:30 and 11:30 AM. Scientists have now successfully turned ground coffee into bio-diesel, so one day coffee may be fuelling your car. Historical facts about coffee are almost unbelievable but very true like for example coffee was banned in Mecca in 1511 as it was believed to stimulate radical thinking and idleness. In ancient Arab culture, a woman could only divorce her husband if he didn’t like her coffee. Another strange fact is the Guinness World record holder for the “Oldest Cat Ever,” a 38-year-old cat named Crème Puff; drank coffee every morning her whole life. #CoffeeCoffeebeansBrazilEspressoBeverageBrazil SEARCH How to keep your skin healthy naturally FOOD Fantasy breakfast FOOD All About Homebrewing: The Art of Making Probiotic Fermented Beverages FOOD Virgin Territory: These non-alcoholic thirst quenchers are mixologist approved FOOD Tasting the sunny side of Christmas: Christmas Cocktails FOOD POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Breeze By Lebua State Tower: Duck Skin, Oolong, And The Distance Between Who You Are And Who You Were 9 September 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape China Table Restaurant At Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok: A Dim Sum Story At Dusk 7 September 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape The Blooming Gallery: A Fever Dream Of Matcha And Moss 15 August 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape Thiptara At The Peninsula Bangkok: Thai Soul By The River 28 July 2025 FOOD RELATED POSTS Advertisement
