A stay at AVASA Hyderabad

I've always believed the easiest way to judge a hotel is by how much time you actually want to spend in it.

Some hotels become little more than a place to sleep after a busy day of exploring a city. You check in, leave in the morning, return late at night and barely notice where you're staying. Others have a way of slowing you down. They make you linger over breakfast, take the long route back to your room, spend an extra hour by the pool, or simply sit by the window and watch the city move beneath you.

My two days at AVASA Hyderabad belonged firmly in the second category.

Located in the heart of Hyderabad's bustling HITEC City, AVASA sits amongst glass office towers, technology parks and the constant rhythm of a neighbourhood that rarely seems to pause. Arriving there, I expected what most people would expect from a luxury business hotel: efficiency, comfort and convenience.

What I didn't expect was how quickly it would start feeling less like a hotel and more like an experience.

The first thing that struck me wasn't necessarily the scale of the property but the sense of calm that existed despite being surrounded by one of Hyderabad's busiest districts. The moment I stepped into the lobby, the city's noise seemed to fade away. Natural light poured into the expansive reception area, contemporary interiors balanced elegance with warmth, and there was an immediate feeling that everything had been designed to make guests slow down rather than rush through.

Checking into my room felt effortless, and within minutes I found myself standing by the large windows looking out across the city skyline. The view stretched far beyond the busy streets below, and over the next two mornings it would become one of my favourite parts of the stay.

The iconic Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge slowly emerged from the morning haze, catching shades of gold as the city came alive around it. It wasn't part of any itinerary or scheduled activity, yet it became one of the most memorable moments of my stay.

The room itself was comfortable, contemporary and thoughtfully designed, but what stayed with me most were the small details. A beautifully arranged welcome hamper greeted me on arrival, filled with premium treats and thoughtful touches that immediately made the stay feel personal. Later that evening, a surprise dessert was delivered to my room, a gesture that felt genuine rather than performative.

Luxury is often associated with grand gestures, but more often than not, it's the smaller moments that leave the strongest impression.

As I began exploring the property, I realised AVASA offers far more than what first meets the eye. What initially appeared to be a polished business hotel gradually revealed different sides of its personality. One moment you're surrounded by conference spaces, corporate meetings and business travellers. Next, you're relaxing beside the pool, enjoying a leisurely meal or discovering a quiet corner that feels completely removed from the city outside.

One of my favourite discoveries was the pool area.

Tucked away amidst lush greenery, it felt surprisingly tranquil for a hotel located in the centre of a major metropolitan district. The gentle movement of water, the surrounding palms and the absence of urban noise created an atmosphere that felt almost resort-like. I found myself spending far longer there than I had originally planned, simply enjoying the calm.

The spa offered a similar sense of escape.

After spending most of the day exploring the property and documenting my experience, the treatment provided a welcome opportunity to slow down completely. Soft lighting, soothing aromas and attentive therapists transformed what could have been a routine spa appointment into a genuinely restorative experience. It was one of those rare moments during travel when you stop thinking about schedules, deadlines and content creation and simply enjoy where you are.

Of course, no hotel experience is complete without its culinary offerings, and AVASA quickly proved that food is one of its strongest assets.

Dinner at Mekong became one of the highlights of my stay.

Inspired by the diverse cuisines of countries connected by the Mekong River, the restaurant offers a menu that celebrates Asian flavours without sacrificing authenticity. The atmosphere strikes a balance between sophistication and comfort, making it equally suited for a business dinner, a special occasion or a relaxed evening meal.

Over the course of dinner, I sampled a variety of dishes ranging from sushi and seafood to classic Asian favourites. What impressed me most was the consistency. Every dish felt carefully prepared, balanced and thoughtfully presented. Rather than relying on theatrical presentation or unnecessary complexity, the food focused on flavour, which ultimately made the experience far more memorable.

Breakfast the following morning offered an entirely different experience.

At Pi, AVASA's all day dining restaurant, the scale of the buffet was immediately impressive. Yet despite the extensive selection, it never felt overwhelming. Freshly prepared local dishes sat alongside international favourites, allowing guests to either indulge or keep things simple depending on their mood.

Breakfasts often become forgettable parts of hotel stays, but this was one of those rare occasions where I found myself taking my time. Instead of rushing through the meal, I lingered over coffee, sampled more dishes than I intended to and simply enjoyed the slower pace of the morning.

As evening approached on my second day, I headed to Noya, the hotel's rooftop venue.

If Mekong is about flavour and Pi is about variety, Noya is about atmosphere.

The rooftop offers sweeping views of Hyderabad's skyline, and as the sun begins to set, the city transforms into a sea of lights stretching across the horizon. Conversations become longer, meals feel more relaxed and the pace of the day naturally slows down. It was the perfect place to end my stay and reflect on everything I had experienced over the previous forty eight hours.

By the time I packed my bags, I realised my favourite memories weren't tied to any single standout moment.

They were the accumulation of smaller experiences.

The sunrise over the city.

The unexpected calm of the pool deck.

The thoughtful gestures waiting in my room.

The comfort of returning after a long day.

The flavours at Mekong.

The relaxed breakfasts at Pi.

The skyline views from Noya.

Individually, they're simple moments. Together, they create the character of the hotel.

What impressed me most about AVASA is that it never tries too hard. It doesn't rely solely on extravagant luxury or dramatic displays. Instead, it focuses on delivering a consistently thoughtful experience across every aspect of a guest's stay.

For business travellers, it offers efficiency, location and excellent facilities. For leisure travellers, it offers comfort, relaxation and memorable dining experiences. Most importantly, it manages to combine both worlds without either feeling like an afterthought.

I arrived expecting a luxury business hotel.

I left feeling as though I had discovered a destination in its own right.

And perhaps that's still the simplest way to judge any hotel.

Not by how impressive it looks when you first walk through its doors, but by how reluctant you feel to leave when it's finally time to check out.
