From sculptural corsetry and architectural volumes to romantic bridalwear and expressive resort dressing, the second day of Dubai Fashion Week explored the many ways contemporary fashion can balance structure, softness and individuality.

Femininity in fashion has never belonged to a single silhouette. It can be expressed through the precision of a tailored line, the fluidity of a skirt, the intricacy of an embroidered surface or the confidence of an unexpected colour combination. On the second day of Dubai Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2027, designers approached this idea from markedly different perspectives, creating a conversation between couture craftsmanship, contemporary dressing and the ease of resort wear.

The day's programme moved across these interpretations, beginning with the curated world of Gigi Boutique before turning to the more sculptural design languages of KEL’ and L’SCARLETT. GNL Couture brought a romantic sensibility to eveningwear and bridal design, while Nafsika Skourti closed the day's designer presentations with a distinctly individual approach to resort dressing.

At Gigi Boutique, fashion was presented through the lens of a considered lifestyle. Its intimate, see-now-buy-now showcase brought together a selection of international designers, spanning resort wear, contemporary pieces and statement accessories. Hosted at the Gigi Lounge at Dubai Fashion Week, the presentation connected a curated fashion offering with the hospitality-led identity of Gigi Rigolatto. The emphasis was on pieces that could move naturally into a wardrobe, placing immediate wearability alongside the appeal of discovery.

A more architectural sensibility emerged in KEL’s Genesis. Founded by Olena Kondratova, the Ukrainian label explored transformation and self-expression through the symbolism of the butterfly. Corsetry and sharply defined tailoring established the collection's structure, while lace, sheer tulle and velvet introduced contrasts in texture and transparency. Three-dimensional hand-stitched appliqués and hand-embroidered crystals added further complexity, with sculptural hair accessories and statement body jewellery extending the collection's visual language beyond the garments themselves.

What made the presentation compelling was the interplay between technical construction and ornamentation. The butterfly served as a conceptual starting point, but its interpretation was expressed through the relationship between shape, surface and detail. KEL’ approached transformation as something tangible, built through the architecture of a garment and the precision of its finishing.

L’SCARLETT offered a different interpretation through AUREA, a collection by founder Le Nguyen that explored modern femininity through light, strength and understated opulence. Sculpted silhouettes and fluid skirts were balanced by architectural volumes, creating a dialogue between movement and definition. Gold-toned crystals, intricate hand embellishment and three-dimensional floral details inspired by the lily brought dimension to the designs.

The collection's appeal lay in this contrast. Fluidity provided softness, while defined forms gave the garments a distinctive outline. Gold-toned embellishment introduced luminosity without becoming the sole focus, allowing construction and surface detail to work together. The result was a contemporary vision of occasionwear that drew its character from the relationship between shape, texture and light.

At GNL Couture, the mood shifted towards romance. Le Jardin Enchanté, or the enchanted garden, translated botanical inspiration into a collection of eveningwear and bridal creations. Mint, blush pink, pistachio green and ivory formed a gentle palette, while intricate hand embroidery and delicate beadwork brought floral references to life. Sculpted silhouettes and fluid draping were complemented by cascading embellishments, giving the garments a sense of movement and delicacy.

The collection demonstrated how a narrative drawn from nature can become an organising principle for couture. Rather than relying on floral motifs alone, GNL Couture carried its garden-inspired theme through colour, texture and silhouette, creating a cohesive visual world that connected romantic eveningwear with luminous bridal design.

Nafsika Skourti brought a more playful sensibility to the day's proceedings with the label's Resort 2027 collection. Founded by sisters Nafsika and Stephanie Skourti, the brand combined bold colour, unexpected textures, florals and metallic accents, balancing softness with structure. Its approach to dressing embraced contrasts, with individual elements coming together through a distinctive sense of personality.

Across the day's presentations, contemporary femininity emerged as an idea shaped by choices rather than conventions. It appeared in KEL’s architectural construction, L’SCARLETT’s sculptural fluidity, GNL Couture’s romantic craftsmanship and Nafsika Skourti's expressive styling, while Gigi Boutique offered a broader view of how these design perspectives translate into a fashion-led lifestyle.

For Dubai Fashion Week SS27, day two highlighted the breadth of a modern wardrobe, from carefully constructed couture to pieces designed for resort living. The common thread was an appreciation of individuality, with each designer creating a recognisable visual language through the interplay of silhouette, material and detail. Together, the collections offered a nuanced portrait of contemporary fashion, where femininity can be architectural, romantic, playful or all three at once.
