The Best Of Both Worlds With Deepti Sadhwani by Anushka Sharma The Best Of Both Worlds With Deepti Sadhwani 6 May 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement There is a lot that meets the eye when it comes to Deepti Sadhwani. From being an investment banker in London to finally realising a niche that she has always been interested in, it wasn’t until long that Deepti Sadhwani opened her own production company and got into the realm of music albums, TV, and a lot more. When asked about whether she’d prefer singing or acting, she couldn’t help but find it hard to choose! “Being good at both will always give one an edge above the rest of the competitors. Hence, I’d love to be great at both.” We asked Deepti about who inspires her the most in the realm of music, to which she replied, “Lata Ji has always been a favourite. She has contributed so much into the realm of music, and is synonymous with the Gods of music. Sonu Ji has always been a dear friend and an inspiration to me. In live singing, one can’t ever imagine him miss a beat.” Well, we couldn’t agree more! Speaking of where she sees her career to be headed in the next five years, Deepti tells us that she seeks to ace the events on a global platform and get international recognition. There isn’t much Deepti wishes to change much, considering how both the industries are so dynamic, I just feel that there should be ample chances given to newcomers. They should be welcomed with more openness. When asked about a memory that’s etched in her memory, she fondly recalls how she was crowed as Ms. North India amidst her family, which also helped her get a glimpse into the world of glamour. We didn’t want to wind the interview without something spicy. When asked to pick between Bad Boy Shah and Diljit Dosanjh, Deepti was quick to not be partial! She tells us, “I’ve already been a part of a project with Baadshah, and he’s a dear friend. I’d now love to collaborate with Diljit!” We love how versatile Deepti is. From being dynamic in the genres she is into to being open to a host of new projects in the future, it’s empowering to see her live and thrive through her passion. • Keeping it real with fashion & lifestyle influencer of the year Hofit Golan

Keeping it real with fashion & lifestyle influencer of the year Hofit Golan By Aparajita Jaiswal Keeping it real with fashion & lifestyle influencer of the year Hofit Golan 5 April 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Hofit Golan’s (Lifestyle, Fashion, Travel Influencer) interview with Manya Vadehra was quite a refreshing piece. With each question asked, she showcased positivity and the importance of valuing oneself. She won the title of Forbes Influencer of the year (2021) and has walked the ramp for several fashion weeks, including The Paris Fashion week in March 2022. She has modelled for brands such as Elisabetta Franchi and made significant appearances at The Venice Film Festival (2021) and Cannes Film Festival (2021). Hofit Golan’s entry into the fashion world was quite “by chance”. The influencer claimed that her first gig came as an opportunity from a relation of hers, trancing her journey as a “fashion entrepreneur”. She has actively contributed to organisations such as Global Angels Foundation, an international charity inspiring disadvantaged communities around the world to grow sustainably. According to her- “It is important to look at the bigger things in life. Even though I am an influencer, contributing to the society and maintaining healthy relations is way beyond that” Health and fitness are essentials in her lifestyle, and she motivates everyone to look after their body and mind and have a positive outlook towards it. When asked which amongst Runway catwalk, cover shoots and television and film acting she enjoys the most, she reveals- “None out of them. They all are a part of my job but being with my loved ones and meeting new people is what matters the most. I enjoy doing them all as part of my career, however I don’t look at them in the bigger picture”. Hofit Golan’s Instagram Bio says she is a Crypto Queen. When asked about NFT and Metaverse, here is what she had to say- “I think cryptocurrency and Metaverse are revolutionary developments in technology. There is massive technological growth and are huge inventions to invest in, especially in today’s era” Being a public figure and, therefore, shining in the spotlight can also have a negative side in terms of social media trolling. Hofit gives a positive outlook on such situations by saying- “If that is the case, the one stop solution is to simply block people. There is no need to give value to someone’s opinion who you may or may not know. It is not necessary for you to listen to such trolls. Personally, I received trolling way before I entered the space of social media but for those who are facing it, just learn to focus on yourself. Nothing is more important than your personal well-being. Therefore, prioritise that and everything else shall fall in place.” Hofit’s methods and manners of living life to the fullest are indeed inspiring. Her message to her fans and to the readers of the interview is to believe in themselves and their capabilities. “There is so much that you can do. Just believe that you are on the right path and keep going. You have got this” #Fashion #lutopia #LutopiaMagazine SEARCH Actor Kangna Sharma gives a sneak peek into the movie of her life COVER STORIES Finding Power In Individuality: In Conversation With The Stunning Alina Rai COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Neon Nights And Yellow Lights: The Sonic World Of Natania Lalwani 30 April 2025 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • India Is Finally Having A Major Fashion Moment

India Is Finally Having A Major Fashion Moment By Anushka Sharma India Is Finally Having A Major Fashion Moment 23 March 2024 FASHION Advertisement In the year of 2023. Mumbai lit up with the sparkle of Christian Dior's Autumn 2023 collection. It wasn't just another fashion show; it was a historic moment, marking Christian Dior's first-ever standalone show in India. The buzz reverberated across the internet, with clips flooding TikTok, Instagram, and beyond. When high-profile stars like Gigi Hadid and Zendaya adorned themselves in elegant saris, the message was clear: India had stepped onto the global fashion stage in style. For too long, fashion has been synonymous with exclusivity and elitism. While movies like "The Devil Wears Prada" may glamorize this image, it no longer resonates with today's society. Today’s society craves genuinity. Social media has democratized fashion, giving rise to influencers who speak directly to our hearts and minds. Fashion is no longer confined to runways; it's a conversation happening on the same platforms we use every day. And with that conversation comes a demand for inclusivity, diversity, and representation. We've made strides in embracing body and racial diversity, but cultural representation remains a challenge. Fashion is a universal language, yet its narrative has often been dominated by a narrow Western perspective. It's time to broaden that narrative and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that shape our world. Fashion should reflect the diversity of its audience, honoring traditions from every corner of the globe. In a recent event in London, Megha Kapoor, Vogue’s former India's Head of Editorial Content, highlighted a troubling trend. Content in Indian languages was deemed unfit for the world of high fashion, perpetuating a colonial mindset that devalues indigenous cultures. This attitude is changing, but it's a reminder that progress is still needed to break free from outdated notions of superiority. Fashion has always been woven into the fabric of my family's identity. From eagerly watching my mother adorn herself for special occasions to bonding over the choice of fabrics and accessories, fashion was more than just clothing—it was a connection to our heritage. This sentiment is echoed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the artistic director of women's at Christian Dior, who recognizes India's rich history in textile craftsmanship as integral to its culture. India's influence on fashion stretches back thousands of years, with its mastery of textiles dating back to ancient times. The legacy of the Mughal Empire infused Indian fashion with intricate details and exquisite embellishments, setting the stage for centuries of innovation. Today, as the fashion industry undergoes a transformation, India's heritage is taking center stage once again. Christian Dior's landmark show in Mumbai is more than just a fashion event; it's a testament to India's cultural legacy. Just as Fendi's show at the Great Wall of China sparked a renaissance in Chinese luxury, we can only hope that this moment will reignite interest in Indian fashion and history on a global scale. It's time for fashion to embrace its role as a cultural ambassador, celebrating diversity and heritage with every stitch and seam. • Aakanksha Singh, the Runway 34 actress talks about Self-Love and Self Upliftment

Aakanksha Singh, the Runway 34 actress talks about Self-Love and Self Upliftment By Aparajita Jaiswal Aakanksha Singh, the Runway 34 actress talks about Self-Love and Self Upliftment 6 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Aakanksha Singh, who made her film debut with the Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt -starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) , before turning her attention down South, is back in the Bollywood fold. She will be seen playing a pivotal role in Runway 34 , featuring Ajay Devgn , Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh . In a candid conversation with Aparajita Jaiswal, the actress talks about her experience so far in the film industry. Aakanksha Singh discerns that it is definitely a difficult job to leave your mark on the film industry. She recognizes that it is not only a challenge to leave your mark on the film industry but any field for that matter. “I feel that with so much of competition and so many good actors to compete with you. I feel that you have to be really good in your content and your craft. You have to keep updating your craft, you have to keep learning and with every project you have to prove yourself,” she persists. “The audience is really very smart. They like to see good content and good actors and it definitely is a challenge to give them what they want to see. So I would say that yes it’s difficult but it’s not impossible and if you are good I think that the audience will love you. Perhaps it may take time but it is not impossible at all.” “My journey so far as an actor, has been so good. I’m really grateful that I’m living my dream and I’m doing what I love. I’m very fortunate and grateful that I’ve got an opportunity to be in this industry and to be an actor. If I see my graph I would say that from here on I would really want to explore more and do more and more work and I always believed in quality rather than quantity.” The actress says feeling rather proud of the wonderful work that the movie-goers have been fortunate enough to see. “I’m really very proud of all my work and from here on out I really hope and wish that I’ll get more opportunities to perform better and to showcase my talent more.” Aakanksha Singh is making headway into the industry with warp speed as she is expected to release multiple new projects in the coming few months. The actress is excited to reveal her new project, a south anthology film, which is releasing on OTT very soon. Another one of her projects, an originally Telugu series, Parampara, dubbed in 7 languages including Hindi, is expecting its second season to release in July. Aakanksha plays 3 different age groups in a new Hindi series which is expected to be announced soon. “There are so many actors I look up to,” Aakanksha says. “But if I had to choose one name, I would say, both nationally and internationally, Priyanka Chopra . What she has done for herself and she really made our country proud. So, anyone who is dreaming to make it big, she is an inspiration and it’s amazing to see where she is at right now.” Aakanksha Singh is a true inspiration for those of us constantly worrying about where life will take us. “For me it is very important to live in the moment and I always try to live in the present. I am really enjoying the kind of projects I’m doing and the opportunities I’m getting. I don’t know where it will take me but the work satisfaction I’m getting is more than enough and I feel like if my work is good and if the audience is liking me, definitely it will take me somewhere. Nobody can plan that and I don’t plan my future. I go with the flow and I am just enjoying the process and without even thinking what will be there for me tomorrow.” Aakanksha Singh talks about the ease with which she slipped into the character that she played on screen for the movie Runway 34 . She felt right at home with the character. “I would say easiest of all was runway 34 . My character Samaira Khanna was easiest to slip into of all the characters I have played. It was not only just the character but the environment that I shot in. It was smooth and everything was in place. I feel that as a team, we enjoyed working together. So yes, that was the easiest character I feel, without any hesitation, I just slipped into.” Aakanksha Singh talks about her favourite character amongst all the ones she has played so far. “There are two short films, and both the characters are really close to my heart. One is Methi ke Ladoo where I played Radhika and the other one is Kaid. Both the characters were very complex to play, I would say. As I said, the easiest character was runway 34 Samaira Khanna but these two characters were really difficult to portray because there were so many complex emotions and I really enjoyed that.” The actress shares her views on Body Positivity and Women Empowerment. “I feel women empowerment and body positivity is much too correlated. I feel that it is very important for a woman to be empowered with the education and with a sense of self-worth. It is very important to accept yourself as you are. When it comes to body positivity as well, it is very important for us to accept ourselves and also accept others; the way they look and the way they are there. There should not be any judgement passed over. You have to be very comfortable in your skin. Recently I stated in one of my posts as well, how much I love myself. Initially I was not very aware of how I was not putting myself on the front foot but now I have realised it is important to love yourself, to work on yourself and to love the way you are. So I think it is very important to accept the fact that everybody is different from one another, and female empowerment also comes when you lift each other. One female can lift the other and they can cheer for each other. It is very important to know the importance of education and take your own decision in your life. I think the two are correlated as we talk about both being empowered and body positivity. One thing which plays an important role is the self-confidence that we have. It is very important to have that and we need to love ourselves.” Aakanksha Singh talks to the young readers of the magazine and says, “Life is too short so enjoy each and every moment of your life. Just be there, wake up, show up and love yourself as much as you can. Because the only thing which will stay with you is your body and your mind. So train your mind to be a healthy mind, be a healthy body, love yourself and just go for whatever you would like to do and whatever you love just to do. Don’t resist, don’t think much about what will be there for you in the future. Live in the present and just go for it!” SEARCH Actor Kangna Sharma gives a sneak peek into the movie of her life COVER STORIES Finding Power In Individuality: In Conversation With The Stunning Alina Rai COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Neon Nights And Yellow Lights: The Sonic World Of Natania Lalwani 30 April 2025 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • How To Organize Your Wardrobe

How To Organize Your Wardrobe by Prarthana Rohatgi How To Organize Your Wardrobe 16 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Expression is important. The human race has excelled in expressing itself with symbols like the car we drive, the literature we consume, or the clothes we wear. For some people, Fashion is a means of self-expression; it depicts our identity differently. The colors we wear, the style we choose, etc. Organization of your closet means a lot, like organizing your identity. Watching tik tok and vlogs for ideas or as a good sport is easy and fun, but doing the work is intimidating. If you need help and wondering where and how to begin, we've got a guide for you. 1. Declutter: The first step to organizing anything is to declutter. Empty your wardrobe. Clean every nook and corner. Think of emptying your closet like a cleanse. Someone clumsy might find various items you've lost over the years. Earrings that went missing months ago, shoes you have never worn, bags you don't remember owning, or clothes you have been searching for. Organizing anything is impossible if all the objects aren't present, which is why cleaning is essential. Cleaning brings with it some difficult decisions. What to keep and what not to. Tough, thoughtful decisions have to be made. Donate or discard items that you no longer need. Repurpose other items if you can. 2. Categorize The next step is categorizing. Categorizing is for convenience. Every person can have a different preference. Categorizing by seasons. Having easy access to seasonal clothes in regions with extreme climates, like those of the temperate region, can be very convenient Categorizing by color: This makes your wardrobe aesthetically pleasing. There is nothing more satisfying than having a color-coordinated closet. Categorizing by Style: Casual, sports, party, or traditional. Instead of having them all mismatched. Placing them in order helps you find them faster. If you're a last-minute dresser, this will make things easier. 3. Maximise space To maximize the storage of your closet use storage solutions like hanging organizers, shelf dividers, or boxes. Make sure to choose solutions that fit your specific needs and the dimensions of your closet. Make use of vertical space. Install additional hanging rods to maximize the use of the vertical space in your closet. It can help you store more items and have easy access. Once you have cleaned and organized your closet, only one thing remains: Maintaining your wardrobe. Regularly tidy up your closet and think of innovative ways to access your storage. You now have your brand-new closet ready for its debut. Like Amy fine collins said, "Opening your closet should be like arriving at a really good party where everyone you see is someone you like." #fashion #closetclense #organazing #maximisespace #declutter #newclosetnewyou SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai 25 April 2025 FASHION By Anushka Uniyal Kiyaan Silver: Timeless Jewellery For Every Woman 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra The Shoe Faktory Success Story: Ishpreet Singh Gujral’s Bold Business Leap 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra From Reality TV To Real Success: Nibedita Paal’s Inspiring Story 27 March 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS

  • AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai

AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai By Shriniwas Kodape AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai 25 April 2025 FASHION Advertisement There are days in Mumbai when the air feels heavier, as if the city’s leaning in, waiting for something to happen. This was one of those days. On the top floors of The St. Regis Mumbai, the curtains pulled back, the champagne flowed too early, and a different kind of storm rolled in — a beautiful, high-fashion cyclone called AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries . Now, if you’ve never heard of AiSPi , let me put it this way — it’s not your typical, sterile pop-up pushing overpriced clichés. No, this is the stuff of fashion folklore, the kind of operation run by people who chase labels in alleyways of Antwerp and underground ateliers in Istanbul. They traffic in stories, not trends. And this weekend, they turned Mumbai into their playground. Marzook was there — those wild, sculptural bags that feel like tiny spaceships for your secrets, glittering like fever dreams under the ballroom lights. These weren’t bags you politely slung over your shoulder. No. These are bags you build an entire damn night around. You walk into a room with a Marzook, and you don’t just arrive — you declare war on subtlety. Then came L’Afshar . Minimalist? Sure. But not in that quiet, forgettable way. Sharp-edged, modern relics that look like they were carved out of glass by someone with a hangover and a god complex. I watched people — the loud, the shy, the ones pretending not to care — run their fingers over those cool, marble-like surfaces. They didn’t just want to carry them; they wanted to be the kind of person who could. And if you drifted past the handbags and martinis, you'd stumble onto things that didn't shout — but whispered in the most intoxicating ways. The Pen Stroke , with hand-drawn journals and prints that made you want to run away to somewhere lawless and write everything down. And The Charm Shop , selling tiny, sparkling talismans — little anchors in a city that never stops spinning. But here’s what most people won’t tell you: It wasn’t about the shopping. Not really. It was about what those pieces made you feel. It was about holding something that carried the fingerprints of another world. About standing in a room full of strangers and thinking, Damn, maybe Mumbai’s finally getting the fashion scene it deserves. And adding to this electric madness, AiSPi unveiled their new Spring/Summer 2025 collections — a breathtaking lineup from 30+ global designers , each piece a portal to some sun-drenched square in Valencia, a candlelit studio in Paris, or a wild rooftop atelier in Tbilisi. These weren’t just collections; they were declarations of where fashion is going next, and Mumbai got the first, intoxicating taste. By evening, the place wasn’t just a pop-up — it was a fever dream. People weren’t browsing; they were hunting. The room smelled like perfume, leather, ambition, and a little danger. And that’s exactly how it should be. Wanderlust Diaries wasn’t a polite fashion event. It was a beautiful, decadent act of rebellion. Proof that in this fast, crowded, endlessly noisy city, there’s still room for things that are rare, strange, and alive. Here’s to more nights like this. More stories told in silk, sequins, scribbled journals, and hard-edged acrylic bags. And to AiSPi — may they keep smuggling this beautiful madness across borders, bringing the world’s finest, strangest, most beautiful things straight into the heart of Mumbai. See you at the next one. Bring your chaos. And your wallet. • Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern

SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern 16 July 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement In India, this socially viable topic catches many eyeballs on discussion forums, political rallies and media galleries. We have often seen philanthropists, social entities or de crème de la crème of the society embellishing their views to fight for the profoundly rooted theories of Gender Equality, Equal participation, democratic decision making and most specifically Women Emancipation. But the recorded statistics provoke us to unleash the peel of these heated discussions which might sound very promising but lack the realistic angle. For instance, in many parts of our country sex ratio has dropped to fewer than 850 females per 1000 males. India is ranked 132 out of 148 countries on Gender Inequality Index as per the 2013 Global Human Development Report. The crimes against women fly directly against orchestrating women empowerment in India. A report on the crime against women by National Crime Records Bureau justifies the statement with some alarming facts and figures: Crime Head – % Variation in 2012 over 2011 Rape (Sec.376 IPC) – 3% Kidnapping & Abduction (Sec.363 to 373 IPC) – 7.6 % Torture (Sec.498-A IPC) – 7.5 % Dowry Death (Sec. 302/304 IPC) – 4.5 % Molestation (Sec.354 IPC) – 5.5 % Sexual Harassment (Sec. 509 IPC) – 7.0% Importation of Girls (Sec 366 – B IPC) – 26.3% This ironical phase of Women Empowerment is the central protagonist of our concern. We have a sense that holistic development cannot be imagined without the vigorous participation of women but like a silent admirer we are calmly supporting the fragmentary concept of Marginalization. No matter what our esteemed leaders said or done. But women have always been marginalized and ostracized as undesirable members of our society. No forum has been constructed to rationalize the Tag of “Second Citizen” which we bestow to this clique of women. Societal prism gives a stereotypical account of Empowerment which defines- “Empowerment” is the mere craftsmanship of an environment where women can make independent decisions on their personal development as well as shine as equals in society. But this definition does not channelize a concrete route which could actually lead women to this illusory environment. In spite of having epic discussion on this topic, this marginalized group is deprived of the mainstay of Empowerment i.e. Pride of Self Accomplishment and Self Supporting. Often Empowerment is seen as a force from the outer world like NGOs, Social groups or Govt. who stretches their hands to this neglected clan, but this disquieting issue cannot be faded without encouraging and developing skills for, Self Sufficiency, with a spotlight on eliminating the future need of any superficial assistance. For instance, instead of equipping them with peripheral aid, this band of victims must be encouraged to create their own non-profits organisation, using the rationale that only these marginalized people, themselves, can know their own people need most, that control of the organization must be centralized in their hands only. If women were empowered to take dynamic partaking in the organized sectors of the society, the possibility for economic growth becomes perceptible. Empowering women in developing countries is critical to curtail global poverty since women represent most of the world’s poor population. Eliminating a significant part of the nation’s workforce on the sole basis of gender can have detrimental effects on the economy of that nation. In addition, female participation in counsels, groups, and businesses is seen to aggrandize competence. For a general idea on how an empowered women can impact a framework monetarily, a study found that of Fortune 500 companies, “those with more women board directors had significantly higher financial returns, including 53% higher returns on equity, 24% higher return on sales and 67% higher returns on invested capital (OECD, 2008).This study shows the impression that women can have all round economic benefits of a Co. If implemented strategically on a global scale, the inclusion of women in the formal workforce can provide an edge to the economic productivity of a nation. But as discussed in the initial episodes of this article, there are several challenges that are currently plaguing the issues of women’s rights in India. The native goal of empowerment can only be achieved by targeting these issues. Studies of this paradigm say – Education is the core element that can either make or mar the authenticity of empowerment. While the country has grown from leaps and bounds since its independence where education is concerned, the gap between women and men is ruthless. While 82.14% of adult men are educated, only 65.46% of adult women are known to be literate in India. Not only is an illiterate woman damsels in distress but aloof from the errands of this cosmetic world. Additionally, the norms of culture that title the man as the alpha and omega of family decisions are gradually spoiling the society of the country. Poverty is considered the greatest threat to peace in the world, and due to hopeless poverty, women are exploited as domestic helps and wives whose incomes are usurped by the man of the house. Even the horrifying reality of sex slaves are a direct outcome of poverty only. The third pal of these two unpromising causes is Health & Safety. The health & safety concern of women are paramount for the wellbeing of a country, and most importantly a vital factor in gauging the empowerment of women in a country. However there are threatening statistics where maternal healthcare is concerned In its 2009 report, UNICEF came up with shocking figures on the status of Indian mothers in India. The maternal mortality report of India stands at 301 per 1000, with as many as 78000 women in India dying of childbirth complications in that year. We can’t deny that there are several series of programmes that have been set into motion by the Govt. and several NGOs in the country to bridge up the dead pan gap between these gender conflicts but these external bodies can only conceal the problem. If we really want to get liberated of this dual world in terms of Gender, then, the strapping pole of Marginalization must be shunned and men oriented fiefdom syndrome must be broken into unbreakable pieces. In short, Empowerment is not an ostentatious or grandiloquence portrayal of outer self but an honest urge to get unshackled from the rotten dogmas of society and earn the power of “Self”. • Tom Ford: The Fashion Genie

Tom Ford: The Fashion Genie by Aparajita Jaiswal Tom Ford: The Fashion Genie 1 May 2021 FASHION Advertisement Among many of our favourite luxury brand designers, Thomas Carlyle Ford, an American fashion designer and filmmaker, is truly one of the most inspiring and looked upon creators of fashion. He launched his eponymous luxury brand in 2006, having previously served as the creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Ford currently also serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Tom Ford had quite the journey, figuring out his interests. At age 16, he enrolled at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, but quickly dropped out. He moved to New York City to study art history at New York University where he met Ian Falconer, who took him to Studio 54 for the first time, spiking his interest in acting and directing. Ford dropped out after a year, focusing on acting in television commercials. Ford began studying interior architecture at The New School’s art and design college, Parsons, in New York City. He kept visiting Studio 54, where he realized he was gay. The club’s disco-era glamor ended up being a major influence on his later designs. Before his last year at New School, Ford spent a year and a half in Paris, where he worked as an intern in Chloé’s press office, inspiring his interest in fashion. He spent his final year at The New School studying fashion, but graduated with a degree in architecture. In an interview with The New York Times, Ford said, “If I was ever going to become a good designer, I had to leave America. My own culture was inhibiting me. Too much style in America is tacky. It’s looked down upon to be too stylish. Europeans, however, appreciate style.” At the time, Italian fashion house Gucci was struggling financially and was seeking to strengthen its women’s ready-to-wear presence as a part of a brand overhaul. The company’s creative director, Dawn Mello hired Ford as the brand’s chief women’s ready-to-wear designer in 1990 and Ford moved to Milan. “I was talking to a lot of people, and most didn’t want the job,” Mello said. “For an American designer to move to Italy to join a company that was far from being a brand would have been pretty risky.” Ford’s role at Gucci rapidly expanded; he was designing menswear within six months, and shoes soon after that. He also took over Richard Lambertson left as design director in 1992, heading the brand’s ready-to-wear, fragrances, image, advertising, and store design. In 1993, when he was in charge of designing eleven product lines, Ford worked eighteen-hour days. Although there were creative tensions between Ford and Maurizio Gucci, the company’s chairman and 50% owner, inspiring Maurizio Gucci wanted to fire Ford, Domenico De Sole insisted that he remain. Nonetheless, Ford’s work during the early 1990s was primarily behind the scenes; his contributions to Gucci were overshadowed by those of Mello, who was the company’s public face. In 1994, Ford was promoted to Creative Director of Gucci. By 1999, the house, which had been almost bankrupt when Ford joined, was valued at more than $4 billion. When Gucci acquired the house of Yves Saint Laurent in 1999, Ford was named Creative Director of that label as well. In April 2004, Ford parted ways with the Gucci group after he and CEO Domenico de Sole, who is credited as Ford’s partner in Gucci’s success, failed to agree with Pinault Printemps Redoute’s boss over control of the Group. He has since referred to this experience as “devastating” and as a “midlife crisis” because he had “put everything into that for fifteen years”. When Ford left in 2004, Gucci Group was valued at $10 billion, hiring four individuals to split the work Ford had done. After leaving Gucci, Ford launched a line of menswear, beauty, eyewear, and accessories in 2006, named after himself, “Tom Ford”. De Sole became chairman of the label. Ford has described “the Tom Ford customer” as international, cultured, well-traveled, and possessing disposable income. For women, he added “strong and intelligent women who know their own style”. From the time we’re born until we die, we’re kept busy with artificial stuff that isn’t important. Tom Ford First Lady Michelle Obama wore an ivory floor-length evening gown designed by Ford to Buckingham Palace in 2011. He has also dressed Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, Daniel Craig, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, Will Smith, Julianne Moore, Hugh Jackman, Jon Hamm, and Henry Cavill. Ford designed Daniel Craig’s suits for his last three James Bond films: Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. Jay Z released a song titled “Tom Ford” with “Tom Ford” rapped numerous times within the song. Ford responded that he was flattered and “it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.” Following the song’s release, Ford received a huge spike in online search engine queries. Ford has been called a “fashion icon” and a “style icon” and he was included in “All-TIME 100 Fashion Icons” list. Ford has been included in several best-dressed lists, such as International Best Dressed List,The Guardian’s “The 50 best-dressed over-50s”, and British GQ’s “50 Best Dressed Men in Britain 2015”. He was featured on the cover of the 2011 spring/summer issue of Another Man, giving his opinion on what makes the modern day gentleman. He won several awards including several VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards and Council of Fashion Designers of America. Ford is known for sexy clothes, making provocative statements, and creating racy advertisements. Ford’s designs convey a “sophisticated sex appeal” and he has been credited for “bringing sexy back”. His advertisement campaigns have drawn controversy for use of nudity and “provocative sexual imagery”. Ford is also known to pose with celebrities and models in his ad campaigns. Ford is not only a designer but also a creative artist. Ford directed the Academy Award-nominated films A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals. In March 2005, Ford announced the launch of his film production company, Fade to Black. In 2009 he made his directorial debut with A Single Man, based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. The drama stars Colin Firth as an LA-based, gay college professor, alongside Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult and Matthew Goode. The novel was adapted by David Scearce and Ford; Ford was also one of the producers. In 2015, Ford became attached to direct Nocturnal Animals, an adaptation of the Austin Wright novel Tony and Susan. The film was released in 2016. Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams played the lead roles of Tony and Susan. Michael Shannon, Armie Hammer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Isla Fisher co-starred in the film. The film received praise from critics, as well as winning the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. • Journeying Through Fashion And Self - Expression With Paranosh Irani

Journeying Through Fashion And Self - Expression With Paranosh Irani by Akshra Khandelwal Journeying Through Fashion And Self - Expression With Paranosh Irani 27 August 2023 FASHION Advertisement "Fashion is a variable, while style is a constant. Style expresses who I am in my way!" - These words resonate deeply with the vibrant soul that is Paranosh Irani. From the colourful realms of Instagram to the poised corridors of the fashion world, Paranosh has carved a niche uniquely hers. In an exclusive interview with our magazine, she unveils her journey, her inspirations, and the philosophy that drives her. With a radiant smile that mirrors her effervescent personality, Paranosh Irani delves into her roots, giving us a glimpse of her evolution as a digital content creator and social media influencer. "Who is Paranosh Irani?" she muses as if teasing us to embark on a journey of discovery. A journey began on Instagram, where she found her voice through a quirky-edgy take on Fashion, offering honest reviews and invaluable tips on skincare and makeup. Her audience is not just followers; they are comrades, fellow Unicorn enthusiasts who understand her affinity for the mythical creature that represents her spirit – unique, magical, and full of dreams. The sparkle in her eyes intensifies as she shares her thoughts on Fashion and style. "Fashion is a variable, while style is a constant," she asserts. To her, style is the canvas on which she paints her individuality. It's not about following trends but creating a tapestry of self-expression. A style icon in her own right, Paranosh draws inspiration from Iris Apfel, a nonagenarian fashion maven. The connection between the two might not be obvious at first glance, but the audacity to be oneself, no matter the age, forms the bridge between their worlds. As she traces her journey, it's evident that the path wasn't always bedecked with confidence and self-assuredness. "Since childhood, I always felt I had an 'out-of-the-box' factor to give back to the industry," she confesses. Yet, her path meandered, and she grappled with self-esteem issues. Only later, after enrolling in an image consulting course, her vision cleared. The world of Fashion and self-expression, which had seemed distant, became an open field of opportunities. "It brought back my love for fashion," she reminisces, a reminder that sometimes our passions only need a gentle nudge to return. The tale takes a twist as we learn of her dalliance with setting up an online platform for local boutiques, a project that remained in the shadows. It's a testament to the fact that not every venture blooms into the spotlight, but each contributes to the growth of the creative spirit. Against the backdrop of these endeavours, the idea of fashion blogging simmered, waiting for the right moment to take centre stage. Paranosh Irani took her rightful place in the digital realm like a phoenix rising from the ashes. The days of indecision were behind her, replaced by a conviction to chase her dreams relentlessly. "When people around me work 3-4 jobs, why can't I manage two?" She questions a statement that encapsulates her relentless determination. With Instagram as her launchpad, she embarked on a blogging journey, eventually expanding her presence to a WordPress blog account. Today, her digital footprint is a testament to her creative prowess. She has crafted a space uniquely hers with content that reflects her quirky-edgy perspective on Fashion, insightful reviews, skincare tips, and lifestyle musings. But she didn't stop there. Winner of the Femina Mrs Stylista Pageant 2018, she broke her barriers and shattered the glass ceiling. "This was the first time I had ever won something beauty-fashion related," she chuckles, her younger self amazed by the woman she's become. The tale would only be complete by acknowledging her media collaborations. Her styling videos have graced the digital pages of My Good Times, while her story has been told through the ink of Eatmy News, Creme Magazine, Making HERstory Again, and the airwaves of Radio One, Pune. A highlight that gleams with pride is her participation in the Born on Instagram program by Instagram itself, a validation of her influence and creativity. Beyond the digital realm, Paranosh has ventured into entrepreneurship. Her online business, www.theaccessorys.com , and her preloved fashion endeavour, ReHome ReLove, symbolise her enterprising spirit. They are also a reminder that her journey is as much about creating pathways for others as it is about personal growth. As the conversation draws closer, her dreams emerge on the horizon. An ambassador on a global stage for fashion week, representing her unique style to the world – that's the crescendo she envisions. Yet, amidst the aspirations, her message remains grounded and potent. "Don't give up; perceive, push your boundaries and carve your niche because no one is like you!" Paranosh Irani is more than an influencer; she's a storyteller, a dreamer, and a warrior of self-expression. Her journey reminds us that pursuing passion is not a linear path but a tapestry of experiences woven with threads of resilience, audacity, and unyielding belief. As we bid farewell to this effervescent creator, we are left with the anticipation of the many chapters she's yet to pen, the stories she's yet to tell, and the fashion she’s yet to conquer.
