  • Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded

Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded by Aishwarya Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded 3 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Fragrances play a huge role in our day-to-day life. They are an important aspect of our life. Often we human beings associate a certain person, food, incident or event, with the fragrance that reminds us of them. They play the role of making us feel nostalgic and associate with the source even more. While we all love a good fragrance, some people seem to have problems with perfume being in skin care. Though unfortunately, there isn’t a clear answer to whether fragrance in skincare is bad or not, still there is a lot of controversies surrounding it. A nice-smelling face mask seems like a perfect match for your me-time routine, but for some, it's the worst thing to do for their skin. The fragrance has become controversial in recent years, and the credit goes to YouTube videos, Subreddit threads, and many other social media platforms. According to a study, the American Academy of Dermatology suggests that fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact dermatitis , which affects roughly 1% of the population. As you can see, the number is quite nominal. So whether your skin could suffer some irritation due to scented skincare or not, is subjective and complex. On top of that, there isn’t a particular way to find out whether your skin will get irritated or not. There isn’t a single or particular symptom to find out the risk, which makes it difficult for you to decide, whether to use scented skincare or not. There are two types of fragrances, that can be used in your skincare; synthetic and natural. Your basic instinct would be to opt for natural fragrances. But is natural always better than chemicals? According to the experts, not really. Let us first understand what synthetic fragrances are. Synthetic fragrances are the ones, that are created in the lab. Furthermore, synthetic fragrances can be either fully synthetic or semi-synthetic. Semi-synthetics are the ones that are partially created and the rest is natural. Many brands choose synthetic fragrances for their products, as it lasts longer than natural fragrances. Generally, the natural scent has a shelf life of around one to two years, while synthetic fragrances has a shelf life of five years. Natural fragrances are derived from a natural source, like lavender or rose. They aren’t created by humans, so they are available in just one form; all-natural. The only problem with natural fragrances is their shelf life, rather than that it serves its purpose. Now, that being said, even natural essential oils can cause severe skin irritation. So, before you get into investigating the concerns of fragrances in skincare, look for the products that work best for you. Not everyone is allergic to fragrances and you need to know that skincare is subjective. While it is important for us to know what’s there in our skincare. We should also know, how a certain product reacts to our skin. Applying a little bit of the product to the back of your ear can be a great way to start. Fragrances are harmful to some people, but it isn’t toxic chemical you need to be worried about. With that being said, always do what your skin needs. According to a study, the American Academy of Dermatology suggests that fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact dermatitis , which affects roughly 1% of the population. #Skincare #Fragrances #UnscentedSkincare #Fragrancefree #Controversy #SkinTalk #SkinFacts SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah The Pursuit Of Comfort: Body By Victoria’s Secret Redefines The Everyday Bra 18 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion

The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion by Priti Sharma The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion 11 December 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement All of us are familiar with Kanye West's outrageous outbursts. Like when he climbed the stage and took Taylor Swift's microphone, or when he declared his intention to run for president in 2020. Although Kanye West has made several odd statements, he has had the greatest impact on modern fashion because of his distinct aesthetic from other rappers' aesthetics, his real effect on sneaker culture, and how rappers define masculinity as a whole. Rapper Kanye West stood out among others for his sense of style. Kanye used thinner clothing, whereas the majority of rappers before him had a more "thug"-like aesthetic. With the elegance of a bull in a Givenchy shop, Kanye West challenged the hip-hop fashion establishment. The self-described "slave to fashion" stood apart from his contemporaries when he first entered the rap industry in 2002. The Chicago MC deviated from the typical look of rappers, who were often dressed in tall tees, enormous sports jerseys, and baggy pants. Instead, he wore Ralph Lauren polo bears and backpacks. Although Kanye is not the first rapper to defy fashion conventions or wear pink, the Louis Vuitton Don paved a previously unheard-of road into the realm of high-end design. The multi-hyphenate has transformed into a respectable fashion hero thanks to stunts like his listening party/fashion show held at Madison Square Garden and connections with industry figures like Riccardo Tisci, Anna Wintour, and Phoebe Philo. However, this visionary's creativity goes beyond only introducing thinner fits to hip-hop. Since he persuaded youngsters to wear those godawful shutter sunglasses and ask their parents to purchase them Air Yeezys, Kanye's influence on the fashion world and the youth has been clear. With the ballerina-filled ingenuity of Runaway, he later exposed street youngsters to Phillip Lim on his own. Rap fans saw The Throne debut various Givenchy collaborations, including leather kilts and album artwork, demonstrating how individualism and creative expression triumph over outdated gender conventions. At Coachella, Kanye purposefully disregarded gender stereotypes by donning a women's Celine top, redefining masculinity in hip-hop. Of course, haters frequently question the rapper's sexuality because of the widespread homophobia in the genre. However, Kanye has never let criticism get to him. He is doing more than merely dispelling the erroneous link between sexual desire and skirts by dressing in gender-neutral attire. A$AP Rocky, Young Thug, and Jaden Smith are just a few of the expressive, progressive young musicians he is giving the world. Thugga has no qualms about saying that "90 percent of my clothing are women's," and Jaden celebrates gender fluidity in his most recent Louis Vuitton advertisements, thanks in part to Yeezy's creation of safe places for males to dress however the hell they want. Even rappers A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar have acknowledged The Life of Pablo MC as having a significant influence on their sharply tailored clothing. Not to add, it's impossible to go five blocks in downtown NYC without seeing ten Yeezy impersonators. Even if some people don't like Kanye's so-called rants, he has a point when he says, "I am so credible, so important, and so relevant that I will alter things." And he has that. Regardless of how often his Yeezy designs are criticized, Kanye is a visionary with the ability to alter how people dress. Beyond the mic, he is amazing. He has become one of the most important people in the world of fashion because of his constant dominance in the fashion world. And, buddy, the youngsters are making notes. #KanyeWest #HipHop #Fashion #Rappers #Yeezy #LouisVuitton #Givenchy SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs.

  • Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress

Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress by Aparajita Jaiswal Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement In a freewheel chat with Neha Pande and Aparajita Jaiswal, Madhura Naik shares her journey in the acting industry. She is a brilliant actress, model and proud brand owner who has appeared in popular shows such as Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath, Tumhari Pakhi, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji and many more. She is an extremely hardworking, optimistic and creatively talented sensation who is not just an amazing actress but also someone who is an inspiration for the youth. Born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Madhura has been in the industry since 2007. Wanting to first be a Genetic engineer, Madhura moved to Bombay and has a degree in economics and Law. “Being an actress was never planned for me. I got discovered in my college campus for Universal and one thing led to the other.” For Madhura hardwork is the key ingredient for anyone. “I believe that every role I have played has had a memory for me. I was attached to Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani because we became a family on set and all of us are still great friends. It was basically coming on the set and having fun. I was just a kid, probably seventeen or eighteen, while shooting it.” “From 2020 a typical day in my life starts with washing vessels and cooking in the morning. I work during the day. In the evening I like to concentrate on my fitness and at night I am usually chilling with my friends” Madhura says. “ I had to learn how to cook on a stove for ‘Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji’. “I love cooking and I think in the lockdown I discovered cooking all over again” she told us. Madhura has been working for ‘The Ghost Thesis’ for an Amazon Web Series which will be released so keep an eye out for that. “When it comes to T.V I’ve worked with Star Plus, UTV, Sony channel, Life OK, Star One. It has been a great experience working with these brands and production houses. As far as fashion brands are concerned one of my most memorable experiences is working with Baume Mercier in Paris. I was very young when I was living in Paris so that would always hold a special place in my heart,” she said. Madhura is an extremely creative individual. “I like to create new things. The monotony gets to me sometimes so I feel it is important to reinvent myself every now and then. That is something that is constant about me and keep up with the upcoming trends and keep learning new things.” Madhura also usually tends to improvise slightly when she cannot relate to the dialogues of the script. As a kid Madhura aspired to be a genetic engineer but after she ended up in Mumbai she was discovered on her college campus for a music video with Universal and one thing led to another. “There is a huge difference working as a tv actress and a movie actress,” she says. “For tv sometimes you end up working fourteen hours a day. Films usually wrap up in fourth five days or sixty days whereas tv series go on for years on end. It’s a completely different ball game on tv because you have to put in a lot of hardwork and time. Sometimes the content you’re shooting is scheduled to release the very next day so you’re almost on real time. The pressure is far more on tv.” Madhura stresses that hardwork is the key point for success in this industry. “I wish I had guidance as to what projects to pick up and which projects to refuse when I was starting off in this industry because I did not have a career plan. I wish today if I was starting off, I wish I had somebody to guide me on which projects to concentrate on and how to go about films as I did not have a film background.” Madhura has created her own brand Lady M as she has always been inclined towards fashion. When asked what inspired her to dip her feet into fashion and creating her own brand she said, “I always like to dress well and see others dressed well and I feel it inspires you as a person when you’re having a bad day but when you step into the right shoes and clothes you feel really good about yourself. Fashion is not just about wearing good clothes but feeling good while you wear them. I wanted to also introduce new trends to my close friends and the actors but also it is also for the masses. I would love to also dip my feet into the makeup industry but fashion is more my thing than makeup.” Every role I’ve played has had a memory for me. Madhura did an advertisement in association with Bindass tv for PETA with Ashmit Patel against caging birds. “It was for a very good cause and I am completely against caging birds because their first instinct is to fly and it is very sad to have their first instinct being taken away from them. I feel sad seeing birds in cages and I would still like to talk about this because I want people to be aware of what they are doing when they are caging birds. The response to this ad was good and I feel like at least my fans would listen to me and not cage birds.” Madhura continues to work with PETA. “Whenever I see an animal suffering on the roads I always call up PETA and the team is very kind to take them in and take care of them. Madhura has played both roles, protagonist and antagonist. “There’s a vast difference while playing the two roles. When you’re playing the antagonist you have so much to explore because the character has so many shades but when you’re playing a positive role there is just one boring side to the character. I personally prefer playing negative roles. Acting is all about how you train your mind. You just have to become that person so I do not think it is hard for any actor to pretend to be someone else and be in a character’s shoes.” The most challenging part of the job, Madhura says, are the long hours because you don’t have a life and balancing your work life and professional life is crucial. “From morning to evening you’re engaged in the shoot and then when you’re back you’re so tired that you sleep and the next morning when you wake up you’re again gearing up for the shoot. People really need to know the hard work that goes behind the glamour. They just see the glamour and the exotic destinations. What most people do not realise is that while shooting we do not have time to explore cities even while shooting in Paris or London. I start my day in front of the camera and end my day in front of the camera.” Her biggest inspiration is the hard work that Beyoncé puts into her work. “I always find Beyoncé to be a big inspiration because of the hard work that she puts into doing anything that she does, the process of creating from scratch to releasing the final video. She is always on her toes, always working round the clock and she makes it look effortless. She inspires her team also to work that hard so the blood and sweat that goes into her work is a true inspiration,” she says. “As an actress I find Deepika Padukone to be an inspiration as she always gets her characters point on and as a model I find Bella hadid an inspiration as Victoria’s Secret models put in a lot of effort into their bodies. The kind of training that they go through before going on the ramp is not easy. They play all sorts of sports and are grilled to have the perfect bodies. They follow a strict diet and I know how difficult it is to stay without water before your shoot. The fashion industry is quite cut throat.” Hardwork according to Madhura is not the only thing that is the key to this industry. It is a combination of hardwork, talent and luck. Some people are lucky enough to land in the right place at the right time and find the right role. That is something I feel is destiny. I believe in destiny. No matter how hard work, destiny and timing has to be just right.” She feels that the one person that keeps pushing you forward is yourself. “The toughest time I faced was when I got into a road accident while shooting pyaar ki ek kahani. I dislocated my shoulder and did not have enough time to recover before being back on set. For three months I had to shoot with a broken shoulder and my entire harness on.” Madhura says that it is tough playing characters that you cannot relate to. “This industry has been kind with the roles and achievements I have had till date so just being able to stand up on my own two feet and the financial stability and freedom has made me who i am today. I will always be grateful for that.” “I just want to inspire people and fill their minds with positivity. I want to tell people not to take life so seriously because all you have is right now and life is not meant to be taken so seriously. Just enjoy who you are today.” This quarantine Madhura discovered herself as an artist. “I had a lot of time to read, sketched and rediscovered myself as an artist. I wrote, I sang, I read and it was a phase where I could bring back all my creativity. I personally like this book called Alice by Paulo Coelho. Madhura continues to be an inspiration to our youth with her zealous personality, her creativity and her work. She brings in positivity and wishes her fans safety and to enjoy their life. Her most aspiration quality being that she has always reinvented herself for the better and continues to add creative aspects to her work and personality. • In An Earnest Colloquy With Patricia Contreras

In An Earnest Colloquy With Patricia Contreras by Anushka Sharma In An Earnest Colloquy With Patricia Contreras 10 April 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement Patricia is most definitely an au naturel when it comes to acing the realm of fashion, art and beauty. Here’s us, encapsulating a bit of her life that she shares with us in much fondness. How are you? How’s life going? I am glad to share my path today with your community, it is an honor to be here to talk about my life. Everything is going very well, I have a lot of meetings, trips, and interesting people to meet. I am grateful with life for all the paths I am living, if I imagine all I am living today is exactly what I dreamt about when I was a child.” Well, it indeed is a rarity to be doing what you’ve always wished to do indeed! When asked about Beauty, fashion, art: If she could pick one and only one of these, what would it be and why? I am an artist, and expressing my creativity everyday is a must for me, I have always dreamed of having big collaboration with big brands like Vuitton, or with brands that align to my vision and moto in life, to reply to your question, I can’t choose one topic is just the way I can express and create something that drives my purpose everyday. We’ve been loving your fashion looks lately. Do you have any unpopular facts you’d want to share with us about the fashion weeks you attend? Style is the most important for me, not only in clothes but in everything I do, since I was a kid I always wanted to add my personal touch to everything I do. I have worked with many stylists and my style has grown through the years, I had experimented every single possible style with clothes, hair and makeup, I think I have tried it all and now I am focusing to develop a street - high fashion style, in my opinion is what is working now, we came to an era that everything is mixed now, we have to adapt everyday, I am open to collaborate with new brands, is part of my job. I love to experiment. If I can give advice, it is to not be afraid to experiment, or to not try to fit in the box, go far away from your comfort zone. If not in this industry, where else would you see yourself? I see myself in the United Nations or inside a laboratory experimenting new ways to improve health, DNA issues, I am a geek inside of me, I just love to learn and study. Well, this definitely brought a smile to our face! How rare is it to see such a bewitching combination! When asked about what inspires her art, she says, “My art is inspired by cinema icons, fashion legends, art movements during the time, everything that make an impact on society, art is the most powerful way to express the evolution of a society, art is power and is the ultimate luxury to manifest a position.” Patricia dons a lot of hats at once. We couldn’t help but ask where she sees herself ten years from now, to which she replied,”I do not make plans that long term, but certainly I would like to have the opportunity to create collaborations with fashion brands, make up brands, having my own talkshow, I will let life to surprise me, maybe life can change dramatically, who knows.” Which designer do you look up to in terms of haute couture? I admire and follow designers who know how to enhance the woman, who can magnify her beauty, I can list my favorite ones lately, Valdrin Sahiti, Georges Hobeika, Rick Owens, Dolce and Gabbana, Zuhair Murad, JeanPaul Gaultier, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, I think all of them know how to catch the true essence of a woman, there are so many out there, but I just love these ones. Have you ever considered exploring the Indian fashion industry? I have always been very curious about the Indian market. I admire and share their millenary culture, I have many Indian friends and it is my dream to explore India one time on a long trip. I love their cinema too and the people, very warm and kind. About fashion I only know Manish Arora that I used to assist at his show in Paris. At what age did you start involving yourself into the world of art? I was born an artist, I think art is a path that either you born with it or not, you can’t learn this, you have to born with it, since I was 3 I was already painting, everything I was doing was creative, I knew since the beginning that I was not like the rest of my class, I always feel different, the only thing I was interested in was drawing, painting, or plastic classes, I even wonder why I didn’t just did that, I need time to find myself too, I guess. What is art to you? Art for me can be everything, is the way you see and follow your life, the biggest artists are people who truly lived their life through it, there is no in between, you have to let it kill you and express from it, it can sound very dramatic but it can be obsessive, when I used to have my atelier I was consumed by it, I didn’t want to leave, I could eat and sleep in front of my paintings, I had dreams about what I should create, was crazy, is like your loose the meaning of time, hours, days, nothing matters anymore but to take out what is inside of you. What does your art revolve around? My art sparkles joy, fashion, sensuality, love and femininity. It is a tribute to women and how we had evolved through history, through the men's vision, and how powerful we are today, because the world now revolves around women. Can we know a little about your new projects? “I would like to crate an apparel brand, that can extend on the years, as I mentioned above to have my talk show, many things can happen, I will update you accordingly.” Well, we’re not sure of being updated about her ongoing and upcoming projects, but this conversation has definitely refreshed our perspective in understanding how one can do it all indeed! • Thiptara At The Peninsula Bangkok: Thai Soul By The River

By Shriniwas Kodape Thiptara At The Peninsula Bangkok: Thai Soul By The River 28 July 2025 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The river had secrets that night. It moved like a living thing—dark, slow, full of stories older than the skyline across it. A longtail boat parted the water gently as it brought me across, the city flickering behind like a dream I hadn’t quite finished. The Peninsula glowed on the far side, all grace and restraint, but I wasn’t headed for its marble hallways. I was following the scent of lemongrass through a garden lit by flame. Thiptara didn’t shout. It waited. You walked a stone path beneath banyan trees that might’ve been here when Ayutthaya was still a capital. The hum of insects, the low sound of the water hitting wood, and then—just past a carved gate—a table set in a private sala, the Chao Phraya unfolding just beyond your reach. It felt like entering someone’s home. Not just any home, but one that remembered you. A woman in a dark green silk blouse greeted me with the kind of smile that made you feel like you’d made a good decision. No script, no fanfare. Just water poured into a crystal glass and a small plate of fresh betel leaves, folded like an offering, filled with slivers of dried shrimp, peanuts, lime. Sweet. Salty. Sharp. Like the first sentence that dares you to keep reading. The sky burned low over the river. Gold turned to indigo. Lanterns blinked to life in the trees. And then the food began to arrive—not rushed, not arranged for effect, but paced like a conversation. A warm pomelo salad, tossed tableside. The prawns are still warm from the grill, the chili heat gentle but steady. The kind of dish that makes you pause and reach for a cold Singha, just to let your tongue catch up. The menu read like a travelogue. Grilled river prawns in red curry. A smoky eggplant dip, laced with minced pork and coriander. Chicken wrapped in pandan leaves—tender, scented like some memory you couldn’t place. There was a tom yum, too. Not the kind you see in neon-lit tourist spots, but the real thing. The broth was so clear it shimmered. Galangal and lime leaf in harmony. Chili enough to wake you, but not offend you. It reminded me of something my grandmother once said: “The best food speaks in low tones. You lean in to listen.” There was nothing showy about Thiptara. No foam, no dry ice, no fusion masquerading as innovation. Just technique and memory. Tradition without apology. It was food cooked by hands that understood time—how long to steep the broth, how to slice mango just ripe enough for the sticky rice finale. And when the coconut cream hit that still-warm rice, I swear, the air went still for a moment. The river kept talking. A barge groaned upstream. Somewhere behind me, the Peninsula’s jazz trio had started to play, faint but soulful. A breeze came off the water, carrying night with it. No one rushed me. No waiter hovered. My empty plates vanished the way old troubles sometimes do—quietly, respectfully. I stayed long past the point I needed to, because Thiptara didn’t ask me to leave. It asked me to feel something. You don’t write reviews about a place like this. You write letters. Or elegies. Or short stories that begin with a boat crossing the river and end with a plate of mango and sticky rice under a sky full of stars. Thiptara is the kind of place you carry with you. Not just because the food was unforgettable—but because, for one night, you were reminded of what hospitality can be when it isn’t trying to sell you anything. Not a meal. A memory. Not a restaurant. A return. And if Bangkok ever feels too loud, too fast, too much—remember this: the river still waits. And so does Thiptara. • What’s FOMO?

SOCIETY by Anadi Gupta What’s FOMO? 1 October 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement FOMO is an acronym which stands for the expression Fear of Missing Out. It is an anxious feeling you get when you feel other people might be having a good time without you. Majority of the youngsters these days face such kinds of problems. It was also officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013. It is certainly a terrible thing to feel. It makes you always keep checking social media until you stop feeling missed out. You do these things to make yourself feel better and to no longer feel left out. Sometimes it makes you feel anxious and sometimes it doesn’t but most importantly where does it come from? Is there something we can do to stay away from feeling this way? These days people tend to check their social media right after they wake up, before they sleep and between every important work which means almost the whole day. FOMO comes from unhappiness and unhappiness comes from comparing one another on social media. We need to realize that whatever we see on social media does not define reality. There is a huge difference between social media and reality. Everything seems perfect on social media; everybody is living a perfect life out there but we should always remember that we are only seeing what these people are wanting us to see. As Swarthmore professor Barry Schwartz writes in his excellent book, The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less : “Stop paying so much attention to how others around you are doing” is easy advice to give, but hard to follow, because the evidence of how others are doing is pervasive, because most of us seem to care a great deal about status, and finally, because access to some of the most important things in life (for example, the best colleges, the best jobs, the best houses in the best neighbourhoods) is granted only to those who do better than their peers. Nonetheless, social comparison seems sufficiently destructive to our sense of well-being that it is worthwhile to remind ourselves to do it less. It is basically a rollercoaster of emotions. It is also possible that maybe you’ve also put an edited version of yourself on social media and it would’ve made someone else felt worse about them. Who knows, right? The worst thing is that we try to find happiness in others instead of finding it inside ourselves. I know it might sound cliché, but nobody can make us as happy as ourselves. Self validation is the key to self confidence but we only tend to see the bad in ourselves and we never appreciate those things in us which we should. The person who overthinks is more likely to be depressed, anxious and stressed. The one thing we do not try is preaching gratitude. Instead of finding problems in everything, if we start being thankful for the things we have, we would be much happier. I know it is not as easy as it may sound but at least we can try. Just live every moment and appreciate every little thing you’re lucky to have and hang in there, you’ve got this. #FOMO #happiness #Anxiety #Reality #socialmedia #gratitude #acceptance SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
