  • The House of Chanel: History

The House of Chanel: History by Aparajita Jaiswal The House of Chanel: History 1 May 2021 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Coco Chanel, the artistic genius of a million dollar empire, who was born by the name of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, was a French fashion designer who ruled over Parisian haute couture for almost six decades. Her elegantly casual designs inspired women of fashion to abandon the complicated, uncomfortable clothes like petticoats and corsets that were prevalent in 19th-century dress code. Among her ever so classy innovations were the Chanel suit, the quilted purse, costume jewelry, and the “little black dress”. Although the cosmetics and perfume wing of the French fashion house began many years ago with a little fragrance called No5. It started life back in 1921 when Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel was already reigning over the Paris fashion world. Everyday is a fashion show, the world is our runway Coco Chanel Chanel was born into poverty in the French countryside. After a brief stint as a shop girl, Chanel worked for a few years as a café singer. She later, with financial assistance from Arthur Capel, opened a tiny millinery shop in Deauville, France, where she also sold simple sportswear, such as jersey sweaters. Within the span of mere five years, her use of jersey’s fabric to create a poor girl look had attracted the attention of influential wealthy women seeking relief from the prevalent corseted styles. Faithful to her belief that “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury,” Chanel’s designs stressed simplicity and comfort and revolutionized the fashion industry, changing uncomfortable corsets to leisure suits. Chanel enlisted a lot of financial help from various companies and wealthy gentlemen. The magnificent empire of Chanel no. 5 was first supported financially with the help of Ernst Beaux and introduced to the world in 1921 for the very first time. Ernst Beaux was one of the most-talented perfume creators in France. It is said that from the various samples procured by Ernst Beaux, Chanel chose the fifth sample, giving the perfume its official name. It was a combination of jasmine and several other floral scents that was more complex and mysterious than the single-scented perfumes then on the market. Chanel was the first major fashion designer to introduce a perfume and that she replaced the typical perfume packaging with a simple and sleek bottle also added to the scent’s success. She partnered with businessmen Théophile Bader of the Galeries Lafayette department store and Pierre Wertheimer of the Bourjois cosmetics company, who both agreed to help her produce more of her fragrance and to market it in exchange for a share of the profits. After signing a contract wherein she received only 10 percent of the royalties, Chanel enacted a series of lawsuits in the ensuing decades to regain control of her signature fragrance. Although she was never able to renegotiate the terms of her contract to increase her royalties, Chanel nonetheless made a considerable profit from the perfume. By the late 1920s the Chanel industries were reportedly worth millions and employed more than 2,000 people, not only in her couture house but also in a perfume laboratory, a textile mill, and a jewelry workshop. At the same time, Chanel started to expand and go global launching a cosmetics line in 1924 and a range of skincare products in 1929. Chanel closed her couture house in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II. Her associations with a German diplomat during the Nazi occupation tainted her reputation, and she did not return to fashion until 1954. That year she introduced her highly copied suit design: a collarless, braid-trimmed cardigan jacket with a graceful skirt. She also introduced bell-bottomed pants and other innovations while always retaining a clean classic look. In the 50s, Chanel No5 really was the perfume to be smelt in. In a 1954 interview, Marilyn Monroe famously answered the question “What do you wear to bed?” with the line “Just a few drops of No5”. After her death in 1971, Chanel’s couture house was led by a series of different designers, stabilizing the situation in 1983 when Karl Lagerfeld became chief designer. The popularity of the perfume continued to grow but this wasn’t necessarily a good thing. In the 1970s it was decided that No5 had lost its air of exclusivity so it was reinvented and made less widely available. Huge advertising campaigns were adopted using big name directors and big name stars; a Chanel tradition that lives on to this day. Chanel’s shrewd understanding of women’s fashion needs, her enterprising ambition, and the romantic aspects of her life, her rise from rags to riches and her sensational love affairs, continued to inspire numerous biographical books, films, and plays, including the 1970 Broadway musical Coco starring Katharine Hepburn. Chanel Today Today Chanel is 87 years old and worth $100 Million. Chanel is owned by by Alain Wertheimer and Gérard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of the couturière Coco Chanel. Chanel focuses exclusively on women’s high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods, and accessories. Chanel has a huge range of fancily-priced makeup with seasonal launches and limited edition collections that come thick and fast. In more recent years, something strange happens when Chanel launch a new shade. People get a bit giddy, waiting lists are formed and cheap copycats are produced. It is one of the top luxury brands, a classic understanding of from rags to riches and a desire of every woman across the globe. Overtime they have become exclusive, desired and rare which are the reasons why Chanel’s items are both popular and expensive. #Jasmine #Chanelno5 #Fashionindustry #Fashiondesigner #Corsets #Fashion #InèsdelaFressange #HouseofChanel #Broadwaymusical #Paris #Chanelscouturehouse #Perfume #WorldWarII #Chanel #Nazi #Littleblackdress #KatharineHepburn #Dress #France #KarlLagerfeld #French #Hautecouture #Petticoats #Jewelry #Scent #ErnstBeaux #CocoChanel SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah The Art Of Resort Dressing, According To Hanne Bloch 30 July 2026 FASHION By Sakshi Shah The New Foundations Of Style, According To Invogue 27 June 2026 FASHION By Sakshi Shah What's The Colour Of My Voice: Inside The Wonderfully Strange World Of Absent Findings' SS27 23 June 2026 FASHION By Sakshi Shah Caslay and the New Language of Conscious Dressing 17 June 2026 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • Porsche Unveils The Next Generation 911 Cup: Precision, Power, And Purpose For 2026

Porsche Unveils The Next Generation 911 Cup: Precision, Power, And Purpose For 2026 LIFESTYLE Porsche Unveils The Next Generation 911 Cup: Precision, Power, And Purpose For 2026 By Anurag Sen 24 August 2025 Advertisement There’s an unmistakable presence when a Porsche 911 lines up on the grid: the low, assertive stance, the unmistakable cry of its naturally aspirated flat-six, and the way it demands commitment from anyone behind the wheel. For 2026, Porsche has sharpened that character even further, revealing the 992.2-based evolution of the world’s most celebrated one-make racer, a car designed not to change its DNA, but to elevate it. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car has long been the heartbeat of the Porsche Carrera Cup championships and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup , building a legacy on reliability, drivability, and precision engineering. This new iteration builds on that winning formula with targeted refinements that aim to make it faster, more consistent, and more rewarding over the course of a season. At its heart remains the 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six, a masterpiece of mechanical honesty now tuned to deliver sharper throttle response and broader power delivery. The output remains at a formidable 510 PS, but Porsche’s engineers have focused on fine-tuning drivability, ensuring racers can extract peak performance lap after lap without sacrificing mechanical sympathy. The six-speed sequential gearbox, operated via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, returns with updates for quicker, cleaner shifts, marrying durability with precision. Aerodynamics take a leap forward for 2026. Discrete turning vanes hidden behind the wheel arches guide airflow with greater precision, working in tandem with a reshaped underbody that enhances stability when the brakes bite hard. At the rear, a new swan-neck mounted rear wing offers broader adjustability, giving teams the ability to tailor downforce to track conditions without disrupting the car’s finely balanced handling. The net result is a car that feels planted in high-speed corners yet alive in the driver’s hands. Suspension geometry has been subtly reworked to improve mechanical grip, particularly in slow- to medium-speed corners where tenths are often found. Revised damper tuning and reinforced components promise improved feedback without compromising the Cup car’s well-earned reputation for resilience in the heat of competition. New generation Michelin racing slicks developed in parallel with the chassis updates promise better warm-up characteristics and longer peak performance windows. Inside, the 2026 Cup car blends purpose with comfort in the way only Porsche Motorsport can manage. The FIA-compliant safety cage remains a central element, but the seating position has been fine-tuned for better ergonomics and sightlines. A new multi-function display provides clearer telemetry and data readouts, ensuring drivers have instant access to crucial performance information mid-lap. The 992.2 GT3 Cup will make its competitive debut in the 2026 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup before filtering into the Carrera Cup series across the globe. This rollout strategy mirrors the car’s development process, rigorous, global, and laser-focused on ensuring the car is as adaptable to street circuits as it is to fast, flowing tracks. In a motorsport landscape that is constantly evolving, the new 911 Cup remains a purist’s delight: unapologetically mechanical, beautifully engineered, and built to reward commitment. It’s a car that doesn’t just race it continues to teach the art of precision driving, one corner at a time. • Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History

Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History LIFESTYLE Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History By Anushka Uniyal 27 February 2025 Advertisement Imagine drifting for over 17 kilometers, but on ice. Sounds impossible? Not for Porsche . When you think of cars with record-breaking drifts, screeching tires and clouds of smoke probably come to mind, right? But this time, Porsche turned up the chill with icy roads and hot wheels! On January 14, 2025, at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland, the all-electric Porsche Taycan GTS made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest drift on ice by an electric vehicle. The distance? A jaw-dropping 17.503 kilometers of continuous drifting on a slippery ice track. Now, that’s how you make an entrance! Commanding the wheel? Porsche Experience instructor Jens Richter, whose unmatched skills kept the Taycan GTS drifting incredibly for 132 laps around a 59-meter diameter ice circle. The previous record? 14.809 kilometers. Yes, you read that right. Porsche didn’t just break the record—they shattered it! Glide, Drift & Conquer! Let’s talk about adrenaline. The icy track threw a curveball but Team Porsche was more than ready to take it on. When the surface nearly gave way under the Taycan’s sheer power, backing down wasn’t an option. With precision and patience, Richter swiftly swapped out the tire spikes and waited for the perfect temperature drop and just like that—BOOM! The Taycan GTS roared back onto the track, delivering a flawless oversteer spectacle that earned Porsche its fourth Guinness World Records title. Richter nailed it when he said, “With our new Guinness World Records title on ice, the Taycan has once again proven its sideways driving qualities. And this time, even with all-wheel drive!” Bottom line? The Taycan GTS isn’t just electric, it’s electrifying, even when the stakes are icy! The Icy Feat Let’s be real, the Taycan GTS wasn’t pulling this off in flip-flops! This powerhouse came fully equipped with well fitted Michelin tires packed with one-millimeter spikes because ice demands serious respect and grip. And of course, every epic record needs slick-tech right? A precision GPS tracked every drift to the last meter. Keeping it official was Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville, ticking all the right boxes. Christian Lehwald, Managing Director of the Porsche Arctic Center, said it best: “We knew the Taycan GTS had the power and precision. We just needed the ice. And here in Levi, Finland, we’ve got the perfect playground for it.” A Record Run Like No Other The Taycan has been collecting records like stamps. Let’s go back to 2023 when the Taycan Cross Turismo set its first record by climbing an incredible 5,573 meters on the Xinjiang-Tibet route, the greatest altitude change by an electric car. In 2021, driver Leh Keen drove the Taycan to 165.1 km/h inside an exhibition hall, proving that limits are meant to be pushed, and let’s not forget 2020, when the Taycan marked the longest drift record at the Porsche Experience Center in Hockenheimring. Clearly, the Taycan doesn’t just drive—it dominates! Where Power Meets Experience For fans craving some action, the Porsche Experience is the place to be. Since 1996, the Porsche Ice Experience in Levi has given drivers the chance to push their limits on icy tracks with expert instructors by their side. The 2025 season brings a revamped 300,000 square-meter track, designed by the legendary Hermann Tilke, ready for future record-breakers. What’s next for Porsche? If history says anything, they’re just getting started. The Taycan GTS is redefining what electric cars can do on roads, at altitude and now, even on ice. Stay tuned because Porsche’s ride is far from over! • Lana Scolaro: Breaking Barriers In The Male-Dominated Music Industry

Lana Scolaro: Breaking Barriers In The Male-Dominated Music Industry by Anushka Sharma Lana Scolaro: Breaking Barriers In The Male-Dominated Music Industry 2 March 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement Lana Scolaro, a rising star in the electronic music scene, has been breaking barriers in the male-dominated industry since she first stepped behind the decks. Hailing from Ibiza, the birthplace of electronic music, Lana's passion for music began at a young age. She played the cello and keyboard and was surrounded by DJs and music every summer. This exposure sparked her interest in pursuing a career as a DJ. In an industry where men dominate the scene, Lana faced some challenges as a female DJ. Some venues and people did not take her seriously due to her ultra-feminine style and look. However, Lana did not let this deter her from achieving her dreams. She persevered, constantly producing music, and releasing at least one song a month. She also participated in podcasts, interviews, and radio shows, always looking for new sounds to keep her relevant in the industry. As an artist, Lana has a unique vision that she balances with the demands of the music industry and her fans. Currently, she is incorporating her creative vision in the digital metaverse, where she has created her own dream house that is already in the NFT Oasis. This way, her music can be displayed, and fans can watch her in concert in the digital world. Lana is continuously evolving, and her creative vision is evident in her work. Throughout her career, Lana has been influenced by several artists, including Solomun, Santiago Garcia, Rami Bedouin, and Luciano, whom she watched perform in Ibiza. However, Gwen Stefani is the artist she looks up to the most. She adores Gwen Stefani's music, and she loves her style. Lana relates to the emotions that go into Gwen Stefani's songs and finds her inspiring. Apart from music, Lana loves painting and producing short animation projects. If not a DJ, she would have chosen to be an actress or a painter. When asked about her advice to aspiring female DJs, she encourages them to keep practicing and mixing on CDJs. She also advises them to put their music out on SoundCloud, YouTube, and every platform possible to be heard. Showcasing your music and getting feedback from fans is crucial to success. Touring and traveling can be challenging, but Lana manages to balance her personal and professional life with four phones. One of her most memorable performances was at the Texas Road to Nowhere Festival. It was her first time in Texas, and she was not supposed to play, but her good friend Chanel West Coast put her on stage and let her perform her single "Rick Ross." Lana envisions the future of the music industry as a digital metaverse, where people can watch her DJ in the virtual world. Her current and future projects include collaborating with brands in the fashion industry, producing a unique track with a male artist, and working on a new collection for her jewelry line LS Diamonds. With her drive, creativity, and passion for music, Lana Scolaro is sure to make waves in the industry and continue breaking barriers for female DJs. • Karishma Kotak Playing Her Innings In Fashion, Sports And Fitness

Karishma Kotak Playing Her Innings In Fashion, Sports And Fitness by Rupashree Ravi Karishma Kotak Playing Her Innings In Fashion, Sports And Fitness 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Actress, model, and television presenter Karishma Kotak is a well-known face in the entertainment industry. From Bigg Boss to acting in films to hosting the IPL, she has come a long way and has found her path in showbiz. She is also a huge health and fitness enthusiast. In today’s dynamic and ever-changing industry, Karishma Kotak is definitely an all-rounder. Such an industry with immense talent and competition can be difficult for the new generation to leave their mark. “I believe leaving a mark is a personal journey. I don't compare my success to anybody else. A successful Bollywood actress will look at Julia Roberts and think that they're not successful, but they are. I think the industry keeps shifting. Right now, I have done a movie called Ira and I've done a guest appearance in Shaad Ali’s Mister Mummy . But I didn't have this kind of work two years ago. If you're willing to work hard, there will be so many opportunities for you. If you're good, you can get that work. I don't know if I necessarily want to leave a mark on the industry. I'm just happy that I'm working.” When asked about her experience so far as an actress, she said, “I am very busy with anchoring and doing projects in-between. I'm just happy because I think as an artist, you just want to do good work so whether I'm anchoring IPL, whether I'm in Dubai hosting a T10 League, whether I'm doing a movie or shooting for a brand, I'm just happy to be given these opportunities. Because that's the best thing you can do.” Currently, Kotak is working on many different projects. She recently wrapped up the dark web techno-thriller, Ira, and will also be seen portraying a guest role in the film, Mister Mummy . The movie also stars Ritesh and Genelia Deshmukh. Kotak cites Penelope Cruz as her inspiration along with Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She mentioned that her favourite role so far was her guest appearance in Freaky Ali alongside Arbaaz Khaan, Sohail Khan, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. “It was a really fun opportunity. We got to shoot on this beautiful golf course in Pune. It was such a fond memory for me. Although it was just a short cameo, it was a lot of fun and I worked with a great team,” she said. Sharing her views on body shaming and body positivity, she said, “I think there's a lot of pressure on women to look a certain size and a certain way. And I definitely think social media has a huge part to play in it. People need to understand that a lot of celebrities go under the knife to meet unrealistic expectations. I believe if you lose too much weight, it ages your face, and it makes you look older. So, to look youthful, a little bit of plumpness on the face, and a little bit of collagen on the face are needed. There's no such thing as fault reduction. I believe you should learn to enjoy life, but in a balance.” Kotak also left an inspiring message for the younger generation and all her fans . “I think young women and men need to stop putting pressure on themselves to be a size zero or a size two or go on unnecessary keto diets or intermittent fasting. Everybody has a different body and their body reacts to things differently. What works for someone else will not always work out for you. So do the research. Take social media every day in small doses. Remember there's more to life than your weight and your health is the most important aspect. So, thank you to my lovely followers on Instagram and Twitter for following me and for your love and your kindness.” SEARCH A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma COVER STORIES Inner Joy Trails My Inspiration : A Candid Conversation With The Creative Anushka Kaushik COVER STORIES Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview COVER STORIES Educate, Empower, Excel: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary's Inspirational Overture COVER STORIES Waluscha De Sousa On Being Her ‘True Self’ And Going On The Dream Journey COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah The Many Chapters Of Lekha Prajapati, From Performer To Storyteller 6 July 2026 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Shah Across Languages, One Voice: Sheena Chohan 1 April 2026 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Shah Mananveer Singh On Making Music That Feels Natural And Real 24 March 2026 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Shah Falak Khan On Acting, Identity, And Letting Her Work Speak For Itself 9 March 2026 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement

Luxury, Beauty & Everything In Between — The Ultimate Mother’s Day Edit LIFESTYLE Luxury, Beauty & Everything In Between — The Ultimate Mother’s Day Edit By Sakshi Shah 10 May 2026 Advertisement Mother’s Day gifting has changed beautifully over the years. It’s no longer just about last-minute flowers or predictable gift boxes, but about finding something that genuinely reflects who she is outside of being “mom.” Today’s mothers are beauty lovers, wellness enthusiasts, frequent travellers, fashion-conscious, and increasingly intentional about the way they spend their time and care for themselves. Which is why this year’s gifting landscape feels more personal, versatile, and thoughtful than ever before. Some of the most meaningful gifts this season are the ones that effortlessly slip into her everyday life while still feeling indulgent. From timeless jewellery and luxury beauty to wellness rituals, fragrances, fashion, and modern lifestyle upgrades, this year’s edits are all about celebrating her in ways that feel elevated yet deeply personal. Beauty continues to remain one of the most loved gifting categories, especially products that make everyday routines feel a little more luxurious. Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless, Mattify & Set Kit brings together complexion-perfecting essentials designed to blur, smooth, and lock makeup in place for hours, while the YSL Mini Couture Clutch Eyeshadow Palette adds a polished touch of glamour through wearable couture-inspired shades. Simply Nam’s Ultimate Kajal Multistick further celebrates effortless beauty with its rich, versatile formula made for women constantly balancing busy schedules with moments of self-expression. Skincare and wellness-led gifting have also taken centre stage this year, especially as more women move toward thoughtful, long-term self-care. Aminu’s Better Aging Bundle shifts the conversation from anti-aging to pro-aging, focusing on resilient, healthy skin through science-backed formulations designed to support skin over time. Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and Elizabeth Arden’s Retinol + HPR Ceramide Capsules further bring luxury skincare into everyday routines through products designed to visibly smooth, firm, and rejuvenate the skin. Modern beauty routines are also becoming smarter and more simplified. FOY’s 7-In-1 Face Lifting Beauty Device combines LED therapy, cleansing, microcurrent technology, and massage functions into one sleek at-home skincare tool, while Skinvest’s Face Hug + Sunny Side Up duo focuses on hydration, barrier repair, and everyday skin protection. Haircare-led self-care is also seeing a rise with products like Skinvest Hairloom , designed to support scalp health and stronger-looking hair from the root. Earth Rhythm’s Rosy Ritual Glow Tinted Sunscreen reflects the growing love for skincare-makeup hybrids that offer both protection and glow in one easy step. Haircare and wellness are equally becoming part of everyday self-care rituals rather than occasional indulgences. indē wild’s Momi’s Care Kit and Supermom Set combine scalp care, hair nourishment, and lip essentials designed for women constantly on the go. Ikonic’s Mini Vibe Hair Dryer adds a playful yet practical touch to daily styling with its compact travel-friendly design, while the brand’s Serene Foot & Calf Massager encourages mothers to finally slow down and take a moment for themselves after long days. This year’s gifting trends also lean heavily into mindful self-care and everyday rituals. Hibiscus Monkey’s Velvet Spray and Kansa Body Massager Wand elevate body care into something far more intentional through tactile wellness experiences rooted in simplicity and restoration. TEGO’s wellness essentials , including its Stance Yoga Mat and curated gift sets, encourage movement, balance, and moments of pause, while Sol de Janeiro’s Bom Dia Jet Set turns bodycare into a full sensory experience through indulgent textures and signature fragrances. Thoughtful gifting also feels increasingly experience-led. Kimirica’s MOMents of Care collection beautifully captures this shift through curated self-care gift boxes designed to make mothers feel celebrated beyond just the occasion itself. Smaller luxuries are finding equal importance this season too. From L’Occitane’s nourishing Shea Butter Hand Cream to indulgent bodycare and wellness rituals, gifting is increasingly shifting toward products that quietly become part of her everyday routine. Similarly, Plate & Peonie’s Pink Bouquet Dinner Plate transforms something as everyday as dining into a more intentional and aesthetic experience, perfect for mothers who genuinely enjoy hosting, styling spaces, and finding beauty in small details. Fashion and lifestyle gifting continue to evolve in equally interesting ways. Sanya Batra’s elevated kurta sets bring a refined take on modern Indian dressing through rich fabrics and timeless silhouettes that work beautifully for intimate celebrations and everyday elegance alike. Rosso Brunello’s statement heels further bring together wearability and craftsmanship for women who appreciate timeless accessories, while Oceana’s sculptural evening bags blur the line between accessory and art. Nimmit’s consciously designed clothing and handcrafted home pieces focus on comfort, sustainability, and long-lasting everyday use, making them ideal for mothers who appreciate simplicity and thoughtful design. Diesel’s statement luggage pieces further tap into the growing love for travel and movement, especially for women embracing spontaneity and modern lifestyles with confidence. Brands like Annasimona Kids are also reimagining modern motherhood through thoughtfully designed baby essentials that blend functionality with soft, aesthetic design sensibilities, making everyday moments feel a little more elevated. Fragrance, meanwhile, remains one of the most personal gifts to give. Chloé Cedrus combines soft amber and cedarwood for an effortless woody sophistication, while Burberry Goddess Parfum offers a richer, warmer interpretation of vanilla that feels both comforting and powerful. For those drawn to playful everyday fragrances, Fraganote’s Candy Babe and Beach Holiday bring nostalgic sweetness and tropical freshness into daily wear. CK Hair & Body Perfume Mists and Victoria’s Secret Bare Luxe fragrance set further add versatile scent options designed for women constantly moving between work, travel, and everyday life. Jewellery gifting this season also feels far more intimate and meaningful. Palmonas’ Initial Collection transforms simple initials into wearable keepsakes through delicate necklaces and bracelets designed to keep loved ones close every day. Contemporary jewellery labels are also leaning into meaningful craftsmanship this season. Janvi Sachdeva Design’s Aquila Bracelet , inspired by the celestial eagle constellation and detailed with green quartz gemstones and CZ diamonds, brings together modern artistry with timeless elegance. At the fine jewellery end of the spectrum, Zoya’s beautifully captures themes of individuality, stillness, and emotional connection through pieces like the Autumn Chinar Necklace, Leafsong Pendant, and My Embrace Bracelet. Adding to this sense of timeless gifting is Movado’s BOLD Evolution 2.0 watch — a sleek, minimalist timepiece that balances practicality with understated sophistication for women who appreciate quiet luxury. And while flowers may never truly go out of style, this year even florals feel more thoughtful and expressive. • The story of the suicide forest: Japan’s suicide forest

by Aishwarya TRAVEL The story of the suicide forest: Japan’s suicide forest by Aishwarya 1 November 2022 Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement What does come to your mind, when you hear the word “forest”? Well, for obvious reasons, you would think about lush green space, a ton of trees, breezy and cool, and a very peaceful place. A forest that isn’t known for its peaceful atmosphere, but rather a disturbing truth, is a weird thing, right? There is a forest in Japan that has the reputation and recognition for having the second-highest number of suicides happening there. It gets even more spooky when the locals over there claim the forest to be possessed by the spirits of the suicide victims. This is the story of a forest in Japan, named Aokigahara Forest, located northwest of Mount Fuji. The entrance of the forest warns its visitors, to “Think carefully about your children, your family. Your life is a precious gift from your parents. Quietly think once more about your parents, siblings or children. Please don’t suffer alone, and first, reach out.” These are the words that are adorned at the entrance of Aokigahara Forest. This forest is globally known as the Suicide Forest. It is the second most famous place for suicides, the first being the Golden Gate Bridge. The forest is spread across a huge area of 35 sq km, giving it the name “Sea of Trees”. It is believed that getting lost in the forest is a very common thing here, and the way out of it is an impossible mission. With a story so dark, it is pretty common to have a reputation for it being possessed. According to Japanese mythology, the forest is said to be home to Yurei- which means ghosts of the dead. As per the official statements , around 105 bodies were discovered in the forest, in the year 2003. Most of the bodies were severely decomposed and/or eaten by wild animals. Due to its story, many Japanese spiritualists believe that the suicides have permeated the trees, which results in paranormal activities in the forest. People often lose their way inside the forest, as the technologies and devices such as compasses and mobile phones fail here. It is due to the deposits of magnetic iron created by the volcanic salt in this region. The devices start behaving weirdly and show wrong directions. Now, this is the reason, it's an impossible mission to find your way out of this forest. People also believe that the bodies of suicide victims should not be left alone in the forest. They believe that it is bad luck for the victims and often their spirits cry and scream for help, and also move their bodies. Now, we don’t know how true it is, but the belief of some people cannot be ignored just because it isn’t proven. Keeping this in the mind, the forest workers bring them back and keep them in a special room at the local forest police station. Many experts have researched why people choose to die in this forest. Almost three decades ago, a Japanese psychiatrist interviewed some Aokigahara suicide survivors and wrote that a key reason for their selection was that “they believed that they would be able to die successfully without being noticed.” Another psychiatrist, Dr Yoshitomo Takahashi, believed that movies and media reports have played a role in influencing people. He also said that they might have wanted to “share the same place with others and belong to the same group”. The nation has been taking steps to curb suicides, over the years. Security cameras are being set at the entrances, hoping to track those who walk inside, according to Imasa Watanabe of the Yamanashi prefectural government. The local government has also opted for suicide prevention methods, such as raising the bridge rails' height, having volunteered to talk to and convince suicidal visitors, increasing police patrolling and discouraging movies and TV shows to not promote the forest as a suicide forest. With a reputation so dark, Aokigahara Forest has failed to be peaceful and beautiful, as a forest should be. We need to know that, suicide doesn’t end your problem but rather removes you and replaces your family & loved ones, in your problem. There is a forest in Japan that has the reputation and recognition for having the second-highest number of suicides happening there. • From Dull To Dreamy: How I Wake Up My Face Instantly With Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish & Stoned Rose Lipstick

By Teyana Sharma By Teyana Sharma From Dull To Dreamy: How I Wake Up My Face Instantly With Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish & Stoned Rose Lipstick 4 December 2025 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement In reality, it’s often 6 AM flights, back-to-back meetings, and very little sleep. Some mornings, I look in the mirror and "dull" is the only word that comes to mind. I don't have an hour to contour; I have five minutes to look alive. Over the years, I’ve tested hundreds of beauty products, and most end up in the "maybe" pile. However, there are two items—my absolute holy grails—that I literally hit pan on. They are the secret to how I fake a full eight hours of sleep and get that "rich girl skin" instantly. I used to avoid powder like the plague because I thought it emphasized my texture and made me look "cakey," but that changed the moment I met the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish 2 Medium . This isn't just makeup; it’s micro-fine magic that has earned a permanent place in my bathroom cabinet. The reason this product has gone viral is that it features soft-focus nanoparticles that blur away lines and imperfections like a real-life filter. When I press it into my T-zone, my pores simply disappear, yet unlike other powders that settle into fine lines, this formula contains Rose Wax and Almond Oil to hydrate while it sets. It is hands down the best setting powder for blurring pores I have ever found, leaving me with a finish that looks like skin, only better. Once my base is set, I’m usually rushing out the door, which brings me to my backseat taxi essential: the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Stoned Rose lipstick. Finding a creamy, hydrating lipstick that lasts all day but doesn't dry out your lips is a struggle, but this shade is the answer. While everyone talks about Pillow Talk , Stoned Rose is the unsung hero of the collection—the perfect everyday coral-rose lipstick that brings instant warmth and life to the complexion. It mimics the natural flush of a bitten lip, making my teeth look whiter and my face look brighter. The satin-soft formula allows me to apply it without a mirror in a moving car, proving it to be the ultimate low-maintenance, high-impact product for a busy lifestyle. In a world of fast trends, these two products are permanent fixtures in my bag. Whether I'm under harsh studio lights or dim dinner candles, the Airbrush Flawless Finish 2 Medium keeps me looking polished, and Stoned Rose lipstick keeps me looking feminine and fresh. They aren't just products; they are confidence in a compact. If you want to take your look from dull to dreamy in under 60 seconds, this is the investment you need to make. The Legacy Of Gold: A Journey Through Time With Munnalal Maheshlal Arya Jewellers By Anushka Sharma The Legacy Of Gold: A Journey Through Time With Munnalal Maheshlal Arya Jewellers 19 July 2024 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In the very heart of Bihar, a state steeped in the richness of tradition and culture, lies Munnalal Maheshlal Arya Jewellers , a family-owned jewellery business that has been passed down through six generations. With a legacy that spans over a century, this jeweller has seen it all - from the rise and fall of empires to the evolution of consumer preferences. Isn’t that a note-worthy, admirable legacy? When asked about the inspiration behind their collections, the jeweller revealed that their focus lies in creating everyday light wear jewellery that caters to the average Indian, with a special emphasis on the rural market. With a price range that starts from a lakh and goes up to 25 lakhs a piece, their jewellery is designed to be worn and treasured for generations to come. They’re deemed as heirloom pieces and cherished by the families through generations. When asked about the typical customer who walks into their store, the jeweller described an average Indian household that comes with a lot of trust and savings, looking for a piece that will hold its value and be cherished for years to come. After all, don’t we love the idea of good jewellery for a beloved’s wedding? Mr. Bhavesh revealed that most of their jewellery is purchased for weddings, gifting, and self-use, with a focus on gold jewellery that holds investment value. When asked about the current trends in the industry, the jeweller noted a resurgence in the demand for gold jewellery, particularly in certain markets. While diamond and Kundan jewellery have gained popularity in recent years, the jeweller believes that gold will always hold its value and remain a preferred choice for Indians. Jewellery and skin tones: When it comes to skin tones and colours, the jeweller explained that yellow gold stands out well on Indian skin, making it a popular choice for the Indian subcontinent. However, for those with a fairer skin tone, rose gold and white gold can be a good option. The jeweller also emphasized the importance of tradition and customs in the Indian jewellery industry, stating that yellow gold will always be the preferred choice due to its cultural significance. Beyond the point of sale, Munnalal Maheshlal Arya Jewellers engages with customers through local events, music concerts, and CSR initiatives. With a strong offline presence, Mr Bhavesh believes that trust and legacy are key to their success. When asked about the challenges they faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, the jeweller revealed that while it was a difficult time for many jewellers, their business actually saw a surge in sales as people turned to investment opportunities. Is gold a viable option for investment in today’s times? In today's economy, Mr Bhavesh believes that gold is a superb investment option, offering returns of 5% to 6% every year. With a plan to establish an online presence in the next 6 to 9 months, Munnalal Maheshlal Arya Jewellers is confident that their legacy will continue to shine for generations to come. Lastly, he also emphasized the importance of education in the jewellery industry, stating that not many brand owners today have a qualification in jewellery. All that one requires is a burning desire for a business of gemstones. Mr Bhavesh has had an impactful qualification to back his career in gemmology though: He has graduated as a gemologist from Gemological Institute of America, Carlsbad. Needless to say, with a focus on gold and a commitment to quality, Munnalal Maheshlal Arya Jewellers is a true testament to the power of legacy and tradition in the Indian jewellery industry.
