  • The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution

The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution By Shriniwas Kodape The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution 19 October 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The night smelled of aerosol and adrenaline. In a cramped studio littered with spray cans and half-finished sketches, Zachary Michael Roberts stood under a flickering bulb, hood pulled low, a cloud of red mist swirling around him. His hands moved fast, sharp, precise, as if he were conducting an orchestra only he could hear. Each burst of paint hissed like a snake exhaling. On the table lay the beginnings of a myth: the Vision Cultured™ “VC x YOTS Shedding Modular Piece.” Waterproof nylon. Breathable lining. An anatomically accurate ribcage stenciled across the front. Two snakes entwined in the back, their heads forming a heart. A jacket that could turn into a backpack, then into a tote bag, a shape-shifter. “I wanted something that evolves,” Roberts says, eyes gleaming with a mix of pride and exhaustion. “Like us.” He was nineteen when he started Vision Cultured™, a name that sounded less like a fashion label and more like a movement. And that’s exactly what it is, a rebellion stitched in nylon and sealed with Mod Podge. “I never wanted to be one thing,” he admits. “I draw, paint, shoot videos, design; everything I’ve ever loved comes through this one company. It’s my legacy in motion.” Now, at twenty-something, with a Bachelor of Fashion Design underway, Roberts moves like a man who knows he’s onto something not chasing trends, but purpose. The Shedding Modular Piece wasn’t born in a boardroom but from a university assignment on modular fashion that spiraled into obsession. He laughs when he recalls the drafts. “Hundreds of them,” he says. “The hood was the hardest. It covers the face, only the eyes visible. It hides, but it also dares. Red, bold, defiant, dangerous.” Thailand changed everything. A trip to Bangkok for inspiration turned into a revelation Muay Thai fighters, their coiled energy and calculated patience, reminded him of snakes. “They strike only when it matters,” he says. “They shed ego through discipline. That became the philosophy of the piece: protect, adapt, evolve.” The snake, symbol of 2025’s Chinese zodiac, slithered straight into his imagination. It wasn’t just aesthetic; it was spiritual. “Shedding is uncomfortable,” he says. “It’s growth through pain. That’s what the snake represents what we all go through.” But Roberts didn’t stop at symbolism. He turned it into texture. The jacket’s surface is hand-sprayed using Loop Colors, layered with streaks of red and white that crack, peel, and shift over time. It’s deliberately imperfect, a skin in transition. “Like graffiti,” he says. “Claimed, buffed, erased, then reclaimed again.” Each wear tells a new story. The Mod Podge seal begins to break; the colors flake and shift. The garment changes as its owner does. No two ever age the same. It’s not about permanence, it's about the poetry of erosion. There’s a quiet boldness to Roberts’ world, one foot in streetwear, the other in philosophy. “Vision Cultured™ is the intersection of identity, expression, and community,” he says. “It’s about transformation, rebellion, growth. Every piece has intention. Every stitch has a story.” And it’s not just talk. You can feel it in the weight of the jacket, in the way the ribcage aligns with your own when you wear it. It’s both armor and confession raw, exposed, unafraid. “I’ve always been fascinated by what’s beneath the surface,” Roberts says. “People, design, life, all of it. Showing bones feels vulnerable and powerful at the same time.” He describes his customers like characters in a novel. “Artists, fighters, wanderers, thinkers. People who’ve lived through something and aren’t afraid to wear that.” There’s something cinematic about the way he says it as if he’s already seen them walking through neon-lit streets, the red jacket glowing like a pulse in the dark. For Roberts, Vision Cultured™ isn’t just fashion; it’s alchemy. The transformation of pain into purpose. “Everything I said I would do,” he repeats softly, “I will do.” It sounds less like a quote and more like a spell. And maybe that’s what Vision Cultured™ really is a collection of living spells disguised as garments. They breathe, they age, they shed. They whisper stories about becoming. In the end, the Shedding Modular Piece isn’t just a jacket it’s a mirror. One that reflects not who you are, but who you’re becoming. Because true expression, like true evolution, never stays still. It coils. It sheds. And then, it strikes. WHAT DROVE CAR DESIGNERS SO FAR? by Akash Khatri WHAT DROVE CAR DESIGNERS SO FAR? 1 January 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement #HOWTOACCELERATEINLIFE MILES THEY WALKED BEFORE THEIR VEHICLE TOOK OFF, CONFUSIONS THEY FACED AMIDST THE CHAOS, DECISIONS MADE; SWEAT ROLLED DOWN FROM SCRATCH TO DESIGN, TOWN TO TOWN NEVER DID THEY EVER PULL BRAKES ON HOPE, LIVED THEIR LIFE IN FULL GEAR TODAY LET’S PEAK INTO THEIR WAY OF LIFE WHAT DROVE THEM SO FAR WHAT MADE THE CAR-MAKER ITSELF A MISSILE… FAMOUS AUTO MECHANICS HENRY FORD Henry Ford was an American industrialist and founder of the FORD MOTOR COMPANY. He created the first automobile that middle-class Americans could afford. He converted the automobile from an expensive curiosity into an accessible conveyance. He was given the title of FORDISM. He became one of the richest and best-known people in the world. He offered high wages for workers. Ford had a global vision and believed in consumerism as the key to peace. “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black.” – Henry Ford, Autobiography Henry Ford (dbsn), was born in Michigan. His father’s family emigrated from Somerset, England in the 16th Century. Henry had four siblings. His father gave him a pocket watch in his early teens. At fifteen, he dismantled and reassembled the timepieces of his friends and neighbors. He did this dozens of times that made him gain the reputation of a watch repairman. He was devastated when his mother passed away in 1876. His father expected him to take over their family farm, but he despised farm work. He later wrote, ” I never had any particular love for the farm-it was the mother on the farm I loved.” Ford left his home in 1879 to work as an apprentice machinist in Detroit. Three years later, he returned to Dearborn to work on the family farm. There he became adept at operating the Westinghouse portable steam engines. He was later hired by the Westinghouse. During this period, he also studied bookkeeping at Goldsmith, Bryant & Stratton Business College, Detroit. When he was 12, he received a watch. Also, he witnessed the operation of a Nichols and Shepard road engine. In his farm, Ford built a “steam wagon or tractor.” In 1890, he started work on a two-cylinder engine. In 1892, he completed his first motor car, powered by a two-cylinder four horsepower motor. In 1893, the machine was running to his partial satisfaction and giving an opportunity further to test the design on the road. Between 1895 and 1896, Ford drove that machine about 1000 miles. Ford then started a second car in 1896, he built three cars in his home workshop. By 1918, half of all cars in the United States were Model Ts. Ford was always eager to sell to farmers who looked on the vehicle as a commercial device to help their business. MILTON FINGER, BOB KANE AND GEORGE BARRIS MILTON FINGER, also known as BILL FINGER, was an American comic strip and comic book writer best known as the Creator. An aspiring writer and a part-time shoe salesman, Finger joined Bob Kane’s nascent studio in 1938. Kane later offered him a job ghost writing the strips Rusty and Clip Carson. Early the following year, after National Comics’ success Kane conceived “the Bat-Man.” Finger then recalled ‘Batman’. Finger offered such suggestions as giving a cowl, a cape instead of wings, adding gloves, and removing the red sections from the original costume. Soon this unique style received love and appreciation from across the globe. But Finger’s name did not appear as an official credit on Batman stories or films until 2015. The BATMOBILE is the fictional car driven by the Batman. Housed in the Batcave, which it accesses through a hidden entrance, the Batmobile is both a heavily armored tactical assault vehicle and a personalized custom-built pursuit and capture vehicle that is used by Batman in his fight against crime. The Batmobile made way into people’s lives in actual shape and form as FORD LINCOLN FUTURA 1955. It was customized in 15 days at a cost of $15,000 by George Barris. Barris was born in Chicago. His mother died when he was a toddler. After that he moved to California to with his uncle. He began restoring with cars at an early age, later moved to Los Angles at the age of 18. There he set up a custom shop with his brother. He soon became known for his daring, flashy designs and customized cars for Hollywood sets. Experts say he helped to redefine the field of car customization, elevating it to a new, more populist art form in much lesser time and money. It was featured in the original Batman TV series starring Adam West. Barris kept it in his private collection until 2012. It eventually sold for $4.2 million. CARL FRIEDRICH BENZ Benz was a German engine designer and an automotive engineer. The first ever practical automobile was made by him as Benz Patent Motorcar from 1885. He received a patent for the motorcar in 1886. When he was two years old, his father died of pneumonia. His name was changed to Karl Friedrich Benz in remembrance of his father. Benz’s lifelong hobby brought him to a bicycle repair shop in Mannheim. In 1883, Benz along with the two owners of the bicycle repair shop founded a new company producing industrial machines, usually referred to as Benz & Cie. Quickly growing to twenty-five employees, it soon began to produce static gas engines as well. The success of the company gave Benz the opportunity to indulge in his old passion of designing a horseless carriage. With his fondness and experience, he used similar technology when he created an automobile. Benz was unhappy because he was left with merely five percent of the shares and a modest position as a director. Worst of all, his ideas weren’t considered when designing new products. One year later, he withdrew from that corporation. Benz began to sell the vehicle and made it commercially available automobile in history. The second customer of the Motorwagen was a Parisian bicycle manufacturer who had already been building Benz engines under license from Karl Benz for several years. Roger added the Benz automobiles to the line he carried in Paris and initially most were sold there. During the last years of the nineteenth century, he came to be known as the owner of the largest automobile company in the world with 572 units produced in 1899 and sales kept increasing tremendously. In 2011, a dramatized television movie about the life of Karl and Bertha Benz was made Carl & Bertha by Das Erste. The famous three-pointed star comes from a postcard sent by Gottlieb Daimler to his wife which said that he was living in a three-pointed star and that ‘one day this star will shine over our triumphant factories.’ The three signify Land, Sea and Air, first seen on a car in 1910. GEORGE FOOTE FOSS George was a machinist, bicycle repairman and inventor from Quebec. He was the inventor of the FOSSMOBILE. It was Canada’s first successful gasoline-powered automobile which he manufactured in 1896. Foss became an entrepreneur at an early age. His first job was running up and down the streets of Sherbrooke, ringing a bell on auction day to help his father. Foss obtained electrical expertise, while apprenticing with Whitney Electrical Instrument Company. He gained knowledge about how to assemble electrical instruments and wind electrical motors. At the age of eighteen, he opened his own shop. He built a 52-volt boat motor. As he traveled, after thirty minutes the batteries in the car died. Then he began to design and build an automobile that would address the problem. He started with a chassis made of old bicycle frames. He never tried to market or mass-produce his automobile. He turned down an offer to finance the production of his automobile. In 1900, he met Henry Ford who offered him a chance to help build a new company that Ford was trying to establish. Foss declined his offer, seeing Fossmobile as inferior. Later, at the age of 37, he went back to working as a machinist. He opened a machine shop in Montreal, Quebec and became a key contributor in the manufacturing of World War 1. In 1960, Foss became an honorary member of the Vintage Automobile Club of Montreal. • The USA Is Almost Giving Up On TikTok, And Here Is Why

The USA Is Almost Giving Up On TikTok, And Here Is Why By Anushka Sharma The USA Is Almost Giving Up On TikTok, And Here Is Why 15 March 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, few platforms have captured the hearts and screens of users quite like TikTok. From viral dances to comedic sketches, TikTok has become a global phenomenon, with its user base skyrocketing to over 170 million in the United States alone. However, behind the curtain of seemingly innocent cat videos and lip-sync challenges lies a brewing storm of geopolitical tension and national security concerns. The latest chapter in the TikTok saga unfolds in the hallowed halls of the US House of Representatives, where lawmakers have recently passed a bill that could spell trouble for the app and its Chinese parent company, ByteDance. The bill, aptly named the "Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act," aims to force ByteDance to divest from TikTok or risk being booted out of US app stores altogether. But why all the fuss? Well, it boils down to one word: trust. Or rather, the lack thereof. US legislators have voiced concerns that TikTok's close ties to the Chinese government could compromise user data and national security. With China's track record of tight control over its tech companies and its infamous "Great Firewall" restricting access to Western social media platforms, the fear is that TikTok could be used as a tool for surveillance or propaganda. These concerns have been exacerbated by TikTok's meteoric rise to prominence, fueled by its addictive algorithm that seems to know exactly what content users want to see before they even know it themselves. This uncanny ability to capture and retain users' attention has raised suspicions about the true intentions behind the app's development and operation. In response to mounting pressure from US lawmakers, TikTok CEO Shou Chew has adamantly denied any allegations of wrongdoing, insisting that ByteDance is a private company not under the thumb of the Chinese Communist Party. However, skeptics remain unconvinced, pointing to China's 1 percent stake in ByteDance and its control over one of the company's board members as evidence of deeper ties. As the battle over TikTok rages on, it has become a microcosm of broader tensions between the US and China. With Washington increasingly wary of Beijing's growing influence on the world stage, TikTok has become a convenient target for politicians looking to flex their muscles and protect national interests. But what does all this mean for TikTok's legions of devoted users? Well, for now, it's business as usual. The bill passed by the House of Representatives does not explicitly ban TikTok outright but rather gives ByteDance six months to divest its ownership. However, some observers argue that this is essentially a death sentence for the app, as finding a buyer willing to navigate the treacherous waters of US-China relations may prove to be an insurmountable challenge. Despite the uncertainty surrounding its future, TikTok remains defiant, with supporters rallying behind the platform in the name of free speech and digital innovation. Whether TikTok will emerge victorious or succumb to the pressures of geopolitical brinkmanship remains to be seen. But one thing is for certain: the battle for TikTok's soul is far from over, and the stakes have never been higher. So, grab your popcorn and stay tuned for the next twist in this captivating tale of politics, power, and social media supremacy. What do you think? Do you think the era of TikTok has finally come to an end? "During my childhood, I recorded myself doing anything and everything, speaking my heart out and dancing in front of the camera." The seeds of her future as an influencer were sown early, nurtured by her intrinsic love for self-expression. The pivotal moment arrived when Suhani discovered the app "musically," now known as TikTok. "I started making videos randomly, never expecting anything, but gradually gaining many followers," she reminisced. By the time TikTok was banned in India in 2019, Suhani had already amassed a following of 300k. Unfazed by the setback, she shifted her focus to Instagram and began creating reels, steadily building a new audience. But the journey could have been smoother. Suhani shared the heartache of waking up one day to find her Instagram account hacked or deleted. "I tried to regain that account for months but could never get it back." Her superpower, a testament to her resilience and compassion, highlighted the pressing need for kindness and understanding in the digital age. Curious about the woman behind the camera, we asked about a typical day in Suhani's life. Her response was refreshingly relatable. After college, Suhani finds solace in her interactions with loved ones. "Giving my mom some tea about the day, playing and petting Buddy (my pet)." The simple moments ground her in the whirlwind. The role of friends, family, and personal reflection is pivotal, emphasising the balance between her digital persona and her true self. Navigating the tumultuous teenage years, Suhani spoke about her sources of motivation. "Sometimes, I feel unmotivated and anxious when my days are not going well or too hectic." Her vulnerability highlighted the challenges influencers, particularly young ones, face in managing multiple responsibilities. Yet, the uplifting messages from her followers keep her going. "I open my Instagram DMs and find so many people loving and supporting me for what I do; that really makes me feel blessed and cheered up." Her parents, too, stand as pillars of strength, supporting her journey to become the best version of herself. As our conversation flowed, Suhani shared a glimpse of her career's most cherished milestones. One that stood out was her debut as the main lead in the music video "Mann Aasmaani Hua." • How To Find And Where To Look For Your Ikigai

How To Find And Where To Look For Your Ikigai by Aarti Singh How To Find And Where To Look For Your Ikigai 29 October 2022 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Ikigai (生き甲斐), a Japanese concept which means purpose of living. To put it simply, a reason of being. The cause for which you wake up every morning. Something that gives you direction in life. Something that moves you and gives you a reason to keep trying, keep going on, no matter what. Your purpose needn’t be as huge as World Peace. Infact the one time you should be truly and genuinely selfish is while looking for the purpose of your life. Your purpose should be yours only. It should be special and personal to you. Afterall it’s yours. It’s yours to build, it’s yours to work upon, it’s yours to wake up to, it’s yours to sleep to, it’s yours to dream, it’s yours to achieve. Your purpose, your calling is the one thing in the world that is completely yours and no one else can take it from you. Your reason does not need to make sense to anyone but you. And you know what, it should not. It makes sense to you, and that’s enough because you’re the only one who gets a say in this matter. You might think that the most critical decisions in your lives are maybe your choice of subject, or your partner, or maybe the college you want to go to. But no, the most important decision of your life is whether you really want to find your purpose or whether you want to lead a life without ever knowing your full-potential. Because your full potential can only be unlocked when you’re doing something you love whole heartedly and believe in. Your Ikigai is something so very personal. Just like that diary you made when you were a teenager. Your purpose consists of all your failures, your hardships, your success, your attempts, your good days, your bad days, your self-doubt, everything. But most importantly, it has seen you try even when you were at your lowest and were considering to give up. But you know what the most tiresome part of this process is? It’s not the numerous failures. It’s definitely not the self-doubt. It is the search. The search for you Ikigai. The search for your purpose. Maybe you haven’t found your purposed yet. Or maybe your purpose hasn’t found you yet. But that, my friend, is the beauty of it. That you can go look for it yourself. You can look for it right now if you want. Look for it in the deepest darkest crevices of those nights where nothing seemed to make sense, look for it in the firs ray of sunshine on the mornings which felt like a new start, look for it in the classes that always felt useless, look for it in the clouds which were too stormy and in the silver rays of hope which shone after it, look for it in the daydreams that you’d rather live in and look for it in the nightmare you never wanna relive. Your reason will start as a dream initially. It will seem like something that you have to achieve one day. Sometimes it may also seem like a hazy wish but you have the power to make it your reality because it isn’t something you achieve, no, it is something that you cherish everyday as you wake up. It is not a pedestal, it is something in you, that makes you, you. Your purpose should be yours only. It should be special and personal to you. Afterall it’s yours. • Victoria’s Secret’s Bombshell Turns 15: A Fragrance That Still Owns The Room

By Shriniwas Kodape By Shriniwas Kodape Victoria’s Secret’s Bombshell Turns 15: A Fragrance That Still Owns The Room 3 June 2025 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Some perfumes fade into the background, and then there are those that define a moment. A decade and a half ago, Victoria’s Secret launched Bombshell—a fragrance that didn’t just sit pretty on a vanity but boldly claimed its space in culture, closets, and memory. Fifteen years later, Bombshell is not simply returning for a nostalgic nod; she’s stepping back into the spotlight with all the elegance, charm, and quiet ferocity that made her a household name. Let’s be honest: the early 2010s were saturated with scents. But Bombshell didn’t just join the party—she threw her own. Crafted by perfumer Adriana Medina, it was a fragrance that didn’t tiptoe into the room. It strode in, heels clicking, leaving behind a trail of fruity-floral intrigue. The formula was feminine but not fragile—think passionfruit, peony, and a whisper of vanilla orchid. It was sweet, yes, but with an undeniable edge. The kind of scent you’d wear on both a first date and a boardroom pitch. It didn’t just smell good; it smelled intentional. Now, as the fragrance marks its fifteenth year, Victoria’s Secret has gifted Bombshell a complete moment. The limited-edition 15th Anniversary bottle gleams like it knows it’s the centerpiece. Sleek, structured, and bathed in high-gloss pink, it pays homage to the original design while upgrading it with a sharper, modern elegance. The signature stripes are still present—like a wink from the past—but the overall silhouette feels grown, grounded, and glamorously minimal. This anniversary isn't just about a new bottle. It’s a global celebration of what the fragrance has meant to millions. From Manhattan’s cobblestoned Gansevoort Plaza to the heart of Kuala Lumpur and even the buzzing fashion energy of Riyadh, the Bombshell pop-ups were not perfume counters—they were immersive experiences. Picture pink-hued florals cascading across archways, scent bars where visitors could discover their perfect match, exclusive merch drops, and branded cafés with rose-tinted lattes. It wasn’t just marketing—it was memory-making. The kind of experience where fragrance and fantasy blur. In each city, women lined up not only for selfies and samples but for something quieter, more personal: a reminder of who they were when they first wore Bombshell. A return to that spark. Fronting the campaign is model Devyn Garcia , who brings an effortless magnetism to the reimagined Bombshell story. Photographed by Lachlan Bailey and styled by Emmanuelle Alt, the visuals are stripped of overproduction and rich with intimacy. Gone are the flashbulbs and maximalism of past eras—replaced instead with softness, natural light, and quiet confidence. Devyn doesn’t shout. She doesn’t need to. She embodies a woman who knows herself—and that’s the point. Bombshell has matured, but she hasn’t lost her spark. She’s simply shifted her power inward. At the center of it all is Adriana Medina, who reflects on what it means to create a fragrance that’s become iconic. “I never imagined how many women this scent would connect with,” she says. “It represents a kind of empowered femininity—sensual, but self-assured. That’s what keeps it alive, even fifteen years later.” And she’s right. Because Bombshell is more than notes and chords—it’s nostalgia. For many, it was the first perfume they saved up for. The one that got them compliments on elevators. The one they wore to graduation, to heartbreak, to new beginnings. It’s the invisible signature that lingered after the goodbye. A spritz of Bombshell isn’t just a scent—it’s a return to self. In an era where the fragrance industry constantly chases the next “clean” or “genderless” formula, there’s something almost rebellious about Bombshell’s steadfast femininity . She never deluded herself. She never tried to be everything for everyone. She’s pink, she’s unapologetic, and she’s timeless—not because she resists change, but because she evolves without losing herself. Fifteen years is no small feat in an industry that often thrives on reinvention. But Bombshell didn’t just survive the trend cycles—she transcended them. She stayed relevant not by shapeshifting, but by growing alongside the women who wore her. So here she is—sharper, sleeker, and as magnetic as ever. Not looking back, but walking forward. A little wiser, just as bold. The 15th Anniversary collection is now available in Victoria’s Secret stores and online. The Eau de Parfum is accompanied by mist, lotion, and even a diffuser—because why should your apartment smell like anything less than your best self? Bombshell at 15 is more than a birthday. It’s a statement: Some icons don’t fade. They just get better with time. • Festival of Stones

SOCIETY by Neha Pande Festival of Stones 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Bagwal also known as DevidhuraFair is celebrated at Maa Varahi Devi Temple in Devidhura located at a distance of 45km from Lohaghat in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand. Devidhura also marks the tri-junction of Almora, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts and is famous for its rich cultural fair that is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm. This fair is celebrated every year during Rakshabandhan that falls on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. Thousands of people from Uttarakhand and Nepal come to visit this grand fair. Bagwal is celebrated by dividing four different groups, collectively known as ‘Khams’. The four groups are four different tribes – Gharwal Kham, Chamyal Kham, Lamgriha Kham and Valig Kham. The fair starts out with the worship of Goddess Varahi, after the worship Prasad is distributed and this is when everything gets a bit tricky. The members of each Kham position themselves on the four corners of the field of the temple and the priest commences the festival with the sound of the ‘shankh’/shell. Bagwal is no normal festival with just worship and joy but here the Khams are fighters who carry sticks, stones and a farra/shield for the fight. These fighters throw stones at one another while at the same time protecting themselves with the shield. It does not matter how wounded or injured they get, the fight does not stop till the priest concludes the fight with the sound of the ‘shankh’. While the fight is going on the rest of the attendees cheer their teams with fight drums, folk songs and folk dances. After the fight all the injured are treated with ‘bichchu grass’ ie. Urtica Dioca. The Myth behind the Bagwal festival:- According to the myth, there once was a tradition of sacrificing a man (Narbali) from the Kham each year to Goddess Varahi. On one such year, it was the turn of this old woman to sacrifice her grandson, with a heavy heart and mind full of devotion she prepared her grandson for the sacrifice. This touched the Goddess’s heart and she spared his life under the condition that an equal amount of blood should be offered to her. Since that day, Bagwal fair is celebrated by the people where the members of each Kham throw stones at each other in order to draw sacrificial blood for Goddess Varahi. Reason for taking this Cultural Fair :- The main reason I choose to write upon Bagwal cultural fair is because my hometown is in Uttarakhand and I also wanted to address the issue of ‘Bali’/Sacrifice. Sacrificing animals as well as people have been going on in our religion as well as many other religions since the dawn of time; from Mayan, Pagan, Hinduism, Muslim etc. Sacrifice or ‘Bali’ in Hindu religion has its own significance, it is symbolic of getting rid of 6 evil forces/enemies ie. Kama– Lust Krodha – Anger Lobha–Greed Mada– Pride Moha – Attachments Matsarya – Jealousy By the sacrificial festival of Bagwal the basic idea of sacrificing men or animals was stopped yet the sacrificial blood was spilled by the act of fighting and throwing stones at each other. Our culture and heritage is one of the oldest; yet, I wanted to showcase some of the flaws in it which have changed and evolved but are still there. In August 2019, 100 men got injured under 10 minutes while celebrating Bagwal in Champwant district, Uttarakhand on Thursday. Even though the human sacrifice was stopped yet, hundreds of people got injured which is not a small thing. This is just one small case, there are many more cases tied up to this festival. Even though there is a high court ban on the use of stones during the festival yet the locals seem to sneak in with stones while outsmarting the authorities.Even a lot of local authorities encourage this practice instead of putting a stop on it. I personally believe that the concept behind ‘Bali’ is not bad because every Dussehra we burn Ravan as a sign of victory of good over evil, just like that ‘Bali’ is the concept of sacrificing 6 evils to the goddess yet the literal concept of ‘Bali’ ie. To sacrifice a living breathing creature or to injure one another is completely wrong. God didn’t make us to harm each other therefore the literal concept of ‘Bali’ should be condemned just like the literal practice of Bagwal should be put to an end. The ideology, unlike the festival, should carry on and pass on from generation to generation. Bagwal is a beautiful festival from Kumaon, Uttarakhand which should be celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, without harming each other as the concept of Bagwal is beautiful just like the myth. Bagwal is the story of love and sacrifice therefore it should be practiced with love and sacrifice of our inner demons instead of throwing stones towards each other to draw out blood as a symbol. The festival is a perfect blend of folk songs, folk dances and folklores. And just like Bagwal our country has hundreds of festivals and practices with a beautiful story but an unlikely tragic execution. #MohaAttachments #Myth #6evilforcesenemiesie #Devidhurafair #Tribal #Regionalfestival #IndianMyths #Indianfestival #MaaVarahiDeviTemple #Bagwalfestival #MatsaryaJealousy #Champawatdistrict #KrodhaAnger #Shravan #Sacrifice #Culturalfair #Lohaghat #IndianRitual #Uttarakhand #LobhaGreed #MaaVarahi #KamaLust #Rituals #Bali #Khams #MadaPride #Rakshabandhan SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
