  • Genderless Fashion Hits Indian Markets

Genderless Fashion Hits Indian Markets by Himanshi Sharma Genderless Fashion Hits Indian Markets 15 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement ‘Anytime you are putting barriers in your life, you are limiting yourselves’ - Harry Styles Since the 1970s, gender has been a "social construct." We know that fashion trends vary over time, and the same is true of gender norms. Now that gender fluidity is acknowledged by society, the fashion industry believes it to be fascinating. Fashion has no boundaries. As the name suggests, gender-fluid fashion defies all preconceived notions and infuses people with a fresh sense of self-assurance. Many prominent celebrities and models have already made a remarkable effect on the public by subtly highlighting the fact that ‘it is not gender that should have an impact on one’s wardrobe but it is the comfort and elegance that should prevail.’ Just Vogue-ing It Iconically Harry Styles, an English singer, songwriter, and actor, enraged the crowd with his outfit selection for the Vogue cover. He was the first man to appear on the solo cover of Vogue, therefore he chose an outfit that best complemented him. When questioned, he responded that he has always had a preference for such clothing. He disproved a number of socially built preconceptions with simply a cover. According to him, setting boundaries merely serves to hinder one from experiencing the outside world. His supporters and the fashion industry questioned and discussed his unique clothing style. Is fashion merely clothes, or does it push the boundaries of society by developing broader social convictions? Is a person's gender determined by their clothing? Is a person's gender determined by their clothing? Is the pace of fashion industry trends accelerating to the point where people are unable to follow them? Well, Harry's surprise left his followers speechless. According to him, the clothes he wears just reflect his personal style and fashion preferences and not gender. But what about India? Gender-Fluid Fashion in Indian Markets It would not be wrong if one implies that genderless clothing was mainstream in ancient India. Long kurtas, ear piercings, jewelry, dhottis and sherwanis have been a trend in the past. When one takes a look at the ancient statutes and scriptures, one might notice that all the goddesses have worn dhotis. Furthermore, the rulers in ancient India wore pastel colour kurtas and various layers of exotic jewelry. In bollywood movies like Hritik Roshan’s Jodhaa Akbar, we can see the actor wearing beautiful jewelry with pastel green kurtas. India, being home to numerous forms of classical dances has seen the costumes being confined to the dance forms with the well complement anklets rather than gender. The Great Fat Indian Weddings have also seen men choosing lighter and pastel colours. Men have always played safe but since the society has been changing, their choices have been evolving over time. Bollywood Dhamaka Desi Boyz and Desi Girls in bollywood have proven to be a dhamaka by seizing the hearts of their fans with genderless clothing. Not only do these bitmojis mimic the user of the app, but the user may also dress them. Due to the extreme genderless fashion influence, many users dress their bitmojis in a way that would make them feel good about themselves. • Do I feel pretty?

SOCIETY by Neha Pande Do I feel pretty? 1 September 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Do I feel pretty? Do I love my looks? Miniskirt or Salwar Suit, which one should I choose? A women’s life is scandalous and decided by the way she dresses or looks, it is the harsh reality of the women beauty standards where aesthetics is everything. A judgmental world where lipsticks are more expensive than books because that’s how the society is, isn’t it? Makeup, surgery and the way I “should” dress, publicised through all social media making young girls think they are to look a certain way. Society has made it a norm for women to dress pretty with makeup done neatly and not to dress tomboyish as it is impolite for a girl to be dressed in men’s clothing. Funny thing is it doesn’t even matter if she’s perfect with beautiful skin and a neatly dressed or if she is tom boyishly dressed with bad skin, it doesn’t matter the amount or makeup she has on or does not because the society still will judge, it will still try to nit-pick on whatever they can. You may think if she’s in a Miniskirt people will drool over her and if she is in a Salwar Suit people might call her a ‘behenji’; to that, yes, that might happen with our society falling into the tracks of western culture people might like the miniskirt and beautifully done makeup better but salwar suit has its own charm and will also invite a lot of spectators. But it doesn’t matter if it’s a Salwar Suit or a Miniskirt as the female behind it will still be criticized, as if her change in size or dressing has let everyone down. Her body is caged in reviews and views with titles on her as if she’s a zoo animal, shouldn’t she be allowed to dress however she wants? Shouldn’t she wear as much makeup as she wants or not? Society may change with feminist movements going around the globe, this mentality might change and till then all we can do is to stop asking the question about which one is better, Miniskirt or Salwar Suit because it doesn’t really matter as we all are passengers of the same ship which is headed by the captain called “Society” and we all are suffering the same from the same judgment as others. Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga by Akshra Khandelwal Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga 26 August 2023 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In a world brimming with talent and creativity, Shruti Yogi has emerged as a multifaceted influencer who has successfully etched her name onto the canvas of social media. As I sat down with her for an exclusive interview, her radiant smile and infectious enthusiasm set the tone for a conversation that delved into her journey from acting to influencing, her passion for travel, and the essence of her digital evolution. "Life is treating me well, personally and in terms of work," she shared as we began our conversation. A statement that echoed not just in her words but also in her vibrant demeanour. As an influencer who has managed to strike the perfect balance between personal and professional spheres, it was evident that Shruti's journey was marked by intention and dedication. With a sparkle in her eyes, she revealed her upcoming travel destination – a place lingering in her dreams for far too long. "Iceland," she exclaimed, her excitement palpable. After years of yearning, she was finally set to embark on an Icelandic adventure come October. Her face lit up as she spoke about the ethereal landscapes she was eager to explore and the thrill of experiencing the land of fire and ice. However, her journey to the world of influencers was paved with a different kind of spotlight – the television screen. "I started my journey as an actor in 2015," she reminisced. With roles in TV shows like "Kumkum Bhagya," "Ishq Me Mar Jawan," and cameo appearances in "Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi," she had already made her presence felt in the entertainment world. But it was in 2019 that she decided to expand her horizons and step into social media. "I started posting pics and videos for my audience, which was following me because of my TV shows," she explained. Little did she know that this step would lead to collaborations with renowned brands and even earn her the prestigious "Wander with Luxury" award by the esteemed "Scy Awards." "A most memorable day," she recalled with a smile, the recognition a testament to her dedication and hard work. Content creators often find their niche through experimentation in the ever-evolving social media landscape. Shruti's journey was no different. She began by sharing content related to acting and fashion, slowly shaping her platform into a reflection of her passions. "I found my niche: fashion, travel, and lifestyle," she shared. Her evolution into a creator who crafts captivating fashion and travel videos was a testament to her commitment to personal growth. Photography and videography had become integral parts of her creative arsenal, allowing her to weave narratives that resonated deeply with her audience. As our conversation flowed, I couldn't resist asking about the three things that held an irreplaceable spot in her life. She chuckled, her response reflecting her authenticity. "I can't live without working – without having a goal," she admitted. The fire within her to keep pushing herself was evident. Her love for travel followed closely, a passion she nourished by ensuring a getaway every few months. "It's keeping me sane in this busy life," she mused. And then, there was coffee – a source of unparalleled excitement. Her eyes twinkled mischievously as she shared her fondness for that energising brew. In the realm of travel, memorable moments often turn into cherished stories. Shruti had her fair share; one stood out vividly – a trip to Croatia with her husband. Amidst the country's breathtaking beauty, an unexpected twist unfolded as her husband fell ill. "He got sick badly for 4.5 days," she recalled, her voice tinged with concern. Yet, what could have been a daunting experience turned into a heartwarming memory. Strangers became friends as the Croatian people extended their care and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on her heart. "I loved Croatia for its beauty and the beauty of Croatian people," she reflected. The story was a testament to the power of human connections forged in adversity. Shruti's advice was simple yet profound for aspiring creators eager to follow in her footsteps. "Be consistent and work hard. Find your niche and stick to that," she advised. But above all, she emphasised the significance of passion. "Love what you do to survive longer," she added. Her journey was a testament to the rewards of perseverance and the joy that stems from pursuing one's true calling. As our interview drew close, I couldn't help but be inspired by Shruti Yogi's unwavering spirit and zest for life. From the glimmering world of television to the captivating realm of social media, she had seamlessly transitioned, leaving a trail of creativity and authenticity in her wake. With Iceland on the horizon and a heart full of dreams, Shruti Yogi reminds us that life's greatest adventures await those who dare to chase them. • 10 Must Try Classic Cocktails

by Akash Khatri 10 Must Try Classic Cocktails 7 July 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement You can’t go wrong with a classic cocktail. Whether you’re craving a tried-and-true Dark N Stormy, or a posh Cosmo. Here are 10 must try Classic Cocktails. COSMOPOLITAN: The origin of the Cosmopolitan is disputed. But one popular story is that the Cosmo was created by a college student named Neal Murray. He did not get the job just because of the management’s racism. But once while they were all away for a weekend for an event, the staff snuck him in. In three days, they trained him. And by the time the management returned, his talent and skill made them accept him as the new bartender. One night he was experimenting with the cocktail, Kamikaze. He discovered that adding a splash of cranberry juice to the drink gave it a delightful pink color, and a delicious fruity punch. When someone asked him what it was, he said he didn’t know. The customer responded by calling it “very Cosmopolitan”, which is how it got the name. SCREWDRIVER: Why would one call a drink made of vodka and juice “screwdriver”? The screwdriver originated when American Oil workers in the oil fields of Turkey, started adding vodka to their orange juice, for an extra kick. And since they didn’t have any spoons handy, they stirred it with screwdrivers. That explains the name. And since they weren’t supposed to be drinking on the job, “Screwdriver” was an easy way to refer to it without ginning it away. TOM COLLINS: In 1874, there was a mass prank going around in New York in which people used to tell their friends that a man named Tom Collins had been spreading nasty rumors about him or her in a nearby bar. People would then go to the local pub and ask for Tom Collins. The bartender of the pub heard that joke too many times and got an idea. After that, the next time somebody ran into the bar demanding to see Tom Collins; the bartender gave a refreshing gin cocktail. LONG ISLAND ICED TEA: A consistent theme with classic cocktails- the Long Island Iced Tea also has multiple origin stories. Some claim the drink originated during the prohibition, when an older gentleman with an entrepreneurial spirit created a cocktail to look like iced tea as a way to drink by disguise. Not only did the iced tea look aesthetic, but also having five different alcohols definitely added to the appeal. MARTINI: Martini is a mixture of gin and dry vermouth. In the early 1860s, people used to frequently go to the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco and order bartender Jerry Thomas’s special mixture of gin and dry vermouth. And then they would take an evening ferry to the nearby town of Martinez. The bartender later named his signature cocktail ‘Martini’ in reference to the destination people headed to after consuming the drink. MOJITO: A 16th century in Cuba holds resemblance to the modern-day Mojito. This mixture of mint, rum, sugar, and lime juice was originally made with a harsh liquor called aguardiente. The lime juice and sugar used to cut the hard taste. The name of the drink comes from a Cuban spice made from limes, called mojo. BLOODY MARY: In the 1920s, Fernand Petiot, an American mixed up equal parts tomato juice and vodka. A patron in the bar suggested he call the drink “Bloody Mary.” He said it reminded him of the Bucket of Blood Club in Chicago, and a girl he knew there named Mary. When he took the recipe to New York, the people weren’t too impressed at first. They said the drink tasted a bit bland. He added black pepper, cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, lemon and a splash of tabasco pepper sauce, for those who wanted it. And that’s how an American classic was born. DARK N STORMY: Made of spicy ginger beer and rich Gosling’s Black Seal dark rum, the drink allegedly got its name from an old sailor who compared the drink’s murky hue to the color of storm clouds. An old fisherman commented on how it looked, comparing it to a cloud “only a fool or dead man would sail under.” It’s an unproven legend. But the drink’s connection to the joys and dangers of seafaring is well-established. BELLINI: This delightful wine cocktail is a blend of white peach puree and Prosecco. Giuseppe Cipriani, started mixing up the fruity tipples in 1934 and the pink color of the drink reminded him of a saint’s toga from a painting by Italian Renaissance artist Giovanni Bellini. Thus, he named his cocktail ‘Bellini’ in honor of the painter and his artwork. MARGARITA: There is an old drink which is a mix of brandy, triple sec, and lemon juice; called the Daisy. A bartender in Tijuana, Mexico was making a Daisy and accidentally grabbed a bottle of tequila instead of brandy. The accident became a hit at the bar. And it was then made famous as a new drink called Margarita, the Spanish word for the Daisy. Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career by Aparajita Jaiswal Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career 3 March 2022 Advertisement In a candid interview with Manya Vadehra, Ahsaas Channa (actor) talks about acting in movies, television, and digital web shows. From Jugaadistan to shooting for Hostel days season 3, she gives us some worth noting down “deets” from her upcoming projects. She is a passionate actor and believer. Ahsaas Channa was born and brought up in Mumbai. She started her career as a child actor in films such as Vaastu Shastra and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, where she stepped into male roles. “I was three years old and I was a very active child. Anytime there was any scene playing on TV, I used to remember all the lines, and for a three-year-old to remember all the lines was kind of weird and it catches a lot of eyes. So, my mom noticed this, and she realized that I might do well if I start acting and she put me for auditions. I had auditioned for Vaastu Shastra, which was my first film, and for the part, they had wanted a boy because the whole film was about this boy, but they really liked my audition. So, the director requested my mom, you know, if it’s okay for me to play a boy. And at first, my mom was not very (convinced) and she had many reservations but eventually said that I was too young and she saw no problems” says Ahsaas. The film performed exceedingly well and Ahsaas was given several opportunities including advertisements. Ahsaas added “I think when I was around seven years old, my mom realized that this is it, this should stop, and I should start acting like a girl. That’s when I did Phoonk. This was my debut film as a girl.” In her acting journey, Ahsaas received several television roles such as Oye Jassie (Disney) and MTV Fanaah. “Television was great. It was a whole different experience. Honestly, I never wanted to do TV as much but at that time, I did not want to leave acting because I was studying, and a lot of things were there. So, I always made sure I did cameos on TV shows, or a Disney show that doesn’t take much time, just like a few months where they shoot all the episodes together. So, I tried to do that as much. Even in Fanaah, I had a cameo with a lead role. I think TV really teaches you a lot as an actor because there’s a lot happening. I think doing TV is the best if you don’t go to an acting school. So, I got to learn a lot from TV. I got to understand axis and lighting, professionalism, and all these things” says Ahsaas as she explains how television acting played an important and significant role in her career span. Digitally run web shows have become a new and revolutionary trend in today’s world. It has brought about novel concepts, story angles, and acting methodologies. When asked for an opinion about OTT and its difference from films and television, here is what Ahsaas had to say- “I’ve realized that there is literally no difference because everybody is doing the same thing everywhere, be it on TV or on OTT. We are all trying to tell a story and acting and becoming characters. The only difference, maybe, would be the time period; how long it takes us to shoot a web series or a TV series. I think TV takes longer, it binds you for a year or more and web series is like a month or two months at max. As it is rightly said, behind every successful person, is an inspiring story or person. For Ahsaas Channa, it is her mother. “She’s the reason I’m an actor today. She’s taught me everything. I never went to an acting school, she groomed me and worked on my craft with me. She’s also an actress and I’ve seen her act and work hard. So, she’s always been my inspiration.” While talking about her experience, Ahsaas also reveals some positives and negatives of being in the spotlight in show business. “One thing that we always need to look out for is that there are a lot of people running in the same race. They are trying to achieve exactly what you are achieving. So, the moment you lose yourself and become a little lazy, you can be taken for granted and somebody else is going to overtake. For an actor, I think there are many good things. My favourite thing is that I get to do things that I wouldn’t be able to do in real life, for example, I’ve never ever studied medical. But through Kota Factory, I was a medical student. So, an actor gets to do different kinds of things that they wouldn’t do in real life. Play different characters, be in different situations and get different kinds of experiences. I’ve never been to a hostel, but I’ve done two shows that are based on hostels. I got to live the hostel life through these shows. So, I think this is the best part of being an actor.” Ahsaas “goes with the flow” when it comes to preparing for a role. She says “I read the script a lot of times before I’m on the floor. Also, I read scenes with the writers and the directors and get their feedback”. Ahsaas does not follow a particular method to prepare for a role. She explains by giving an example- “In Jugaadistan, I’m a journalism student. I don’t know anything about journalism. I just started watching a lot of interviews, I read a bit about journalism and journalists. But that’s all. That’s the max I do. I feel like if I prepare too much then things become very mechanical.” Throwing light into her upcoming projects, here’s what she has to say about them- “ Jugaadistan is set in the college universe. The universe that I’ve already explored. But it’s still very different because we’ve tried to explore a very dark side of college and university. While it is a lot of fun, we are still exploring friendships, relationships, jugaads, and a college fest in the show. There’s a brilliant ensemble here as well and everybody has a story of their own. I’ve always wanted to work with Akarsh Khurana and when I got an offer for this, this was the first thing that caught my eye, that Akarsh is directing the show.” Ahsaas also gave details about Hostel Days season and two more upcoming projects. Ahsaas Channa is a hard worker and believes that one should not take things for granted but keep working, believe in oneself and make the most out of the opportunities one gets in life. #AhsaasChannatalksabouthermotherbeingtheinspirationbehindhercareer #actor #jugaadistan #AhssasChanna #Fashion #play #lutopia #magazine #LutopiaMagazine #actress #lionsgateplay #Bollywoodactress #lionsgate #jugaadistan SEARCH A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma COVER STORIES Inner Joy Trails My Inspiration : A Candid Conversation With The Creative Anushka Kaushik COVER STORIES Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview COVER STORIES Educate, Empower, Excel: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary's Inspirational Overture COVER STORIES Waluscha De Sousa On Being Her ‘True Self’ And Going On The Dream Journey COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Tej Music Vodka: The DJ Turning Youth Culture Into a Moving Dancefloor 30 January 2026 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Shah Khushi Bhardwaj Is Growing Up On Screen, And Doing It Her Way 31 December 2025 COVER STORIES By Shriniwas Kodape The Eternal Strings Of Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash 4 October 2025 COVER STORIES By Anurag Sen Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob 25 September 2025 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement

By Aarti Singh By Aarti Singh Valentine’s Gifting Made Easier With Nykaa Fragrance Range 2 February 2025 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Wouldn’t it be great if, just like Cupid’s arrow, your gifts also hit the bullseye? Although gift-giving might not be the only way to express your affection towards somebody, it surely is a huge aspect. And while affection can be showered through various other means, gifting adds on that extra sparkle. It is proof of how well you know the other person or simply how good of a listener you are. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, instead of flocking to the internet hurriedly to search “Gifts for Valentine’s Day”, simply take our advice and gift your partner something that tokenizes their essence to you. And nothing stands the test of time like a good old-fashioned fragrance that reminds you of that special someone. Whomsoever you might be, we have curated a list of fragrances that will automatically drive away all your gifting worries and put you and your partner in the mood for love. For Her You might be tempted to gift your female counterpart the same old bouquet of red roses and a Valentine’s Day card. We say do that! But pair it with any of these perfumes to match their true personality, and watch how that works in your favour. Burberry Goddess Just as the name suggests, this fragrance is perfect for the divine feminine who is ready to set the world ablaze every day. With top notes fused with Vanilla and Lavender, it is for the woman who knows herself in and out and is not afraid to show that. GUESS Seductive Noir It is a scent that embodies the oriental fragrance with playful hints. Top notes infused with bergamot, sage and peonies, this fragrance gives you a refreshing experience to evoke your inner edgy fashionista. It is an exquisitely quintessential scent for the woman who oozes confidence and embodies all the aspects of a dark feminine spirit. With heart notes of Iris Pallida, Jasmine Sambad and Muguet, this is the perfect gift for a woman who is slightly mature yet still flirty and playful. Victoria’s Secret Bombshell You can never go wrong with Victoria’s Secret. It is a sure-shot pathway of scoring instant royalty points with the woman you might be trying to woo, and Bombshell is one such fragrance that has never gone amiss. It is a fresh and brightening mixture of fruity florals on a sunny day picnic. It welcomes you with dominant notes of strawberries, pineapple and fresh citrus and hooks you to the hearty hints of Purple Passion Fruit, Shangri-La Peonies and Vanilla Orchids. It catches the essence of that woman who brightens up your day simply with her smile. This fragrance is perfect for a playful summer-spring symphony. NISARA Vanilla Rush Ambery With top notes of Orchid, White Floral and Vanilla, this fragrance lures you in with its cocoa-like scent and leaves you smelling like a bakery at the crack of dawn, basking in the effervescence of freshly baked goodness. It exudes a warmth that envelopes your senses in deft tones of caramel mocha richness. Its patchouli and amber undertones are perfect for someone who is in touch with her calm. Avon Little Black Dress This should be considered as killing two birds with one guaranteed stone since you can practically never go wrong with a classic LBD. With top notes of Ylang- Ylang, Milkwood, Honeysuckle, Apricot Blossom and Coriander, this fragrance is perfect for someone who owns their sensuality. A diverse blend of Gardenia, Jasmine, Datura and Tonka Beans makes this a perfect fit for that special someone who brings a classy, sophisticated vibe to the table. This fragrance is like that loyal LBD that never does you wrong. For Him If you are someone who is tired of their male partners using the same scent for ages or if you’re even just someone who has typed “Gift ideas for men on Valentine’s Day’, then a fragrance that compliments their personality might be an oldie but a goldie. Here are our top 5 suggestions in such a scenario: Davidoff Cool Water As cool, coral and aquatic as it sounds, this fragrance truly stands for its aquatic appeal, with top notes enveloping you in an ocean-like aura, especially for those who love the serenity of surfing the tides. The scent is like a bottled version of an entire oceanic ecosystem. With top notes consisting of Sea Moss, Lavender, Rosemary, Calone and Green nuances, it is a fit for someone who enjoys a life of thrill and refreshment with every whiff. Titan Skinn Raw Instinct This scent carefully blends citrusy freshness with bold hints of warm woodiness to bring forth a perfect semblance of a fragrance that swoops you away in the strong arms of the summer breeze. It brings forth a mix of spices and flora, fused with ambers that leave you with a fusion of robust notes; must for a man who is both soft & playful as the spring and ripe & mature as the summer. Base notes composed of Cardamom, Patchouli and Musk Melon preserve the essence of both the day and the night. Hugo Boss Energise A fragrance that combines Mint, Pink Pepper, Pineapple Leaf and Lemon for its top notes and makes it work wonderfully well together. It has Kumquat, Mandarin and Juniper forming its heart notes, giving it the proper distinctive palette. It is crafted for the spirit of masculinity that maintains calm and brings about a decisive mark. The undertones give off a balance of Leather, Vanilla and Teak Wood that adds to the richness of the entire concoction. Ora d’oro Perfume After Party As an ode to all those memorable and beautiful moments shared with your special someone, this scent bottles up all the nostalgia and chaos of some late-night shenanigans and presents it on a fragrant platter. It features top notes that are fresh, clean and sensual at the same time to reveal the essence of someone who determines their own story. The base is made from a fresh citrus accord, fused with ambery Cedar notes to give it a flawless blend. Ramson’s Once More It is an impeccable blend of Musk and Vanilla with affluent florals like Jasmine, Mimosa rose and Freesia that give it the pristine balance of soft masculinity. It is sweet and fruity with notes of Amber, Bergamot and Orange to serve you a leathery and woodsy feel. It creates a clashing palette that works wonderfully well in its favour. Now remember, gift-giving is a very intimate and vulnerable activity. It not only shows your affection but also the attention you hold towards the other person. Though material things might still be lower on the list, they are still something that adds a personalised touch to your celebration. And what better way to extend the very celebration than to carry a token of your partner’s appreciation in the form of rich scents to remember them by? • Dreaming Of Paris By Nykaa Wanderlust: Not Hers. Not Mine. Just Something We Both Left Behind

By Shriniwas Kodape By Shriniwas Kodape Dreaming Of Paris By Nykaa Wanderlust: Not Hers. Not Mine. Just Something We Both Left Behind 11 June 2025 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Some mornings, Mumbai feels like a fight I didn’t agree to. Horns blaring like insults, the air thick with yesterday’s heat and today’s unfinished thoughts. I light a cigarette and stare at the ceiling like it owes me answers. That’s when I reach for Dreaming of Paris. Yes. A woman’s mist. I know. But let’s be honest—some things smell like memory. And this one? It smells like hers. Not any one woman. Maybe all of them. Maybe just her—the one who looked at me like she already knew how the story ended and kissed me anyway. Dreaming of Paris doesn’t beg. It barges in, barefoot and hungover, demanding espresso and playing Gainsbourg on vinyl. First spray and you’re gone—thrown into some twilight rooftop in Le Marais, where the wine’s always slightly too warm and the conversation always cuts a little too deep. It opens with berries and champagne—sweet, sure, but not soft. Like biting into a secret. There’s citrus too, sudden and sharp, like the first laugh in a room full of strangers. You wear this not to impress, but to haunt. And it’s not just for skin. The Body & Hair Fine Fragrance Mist? That’s where the real seduction lives. Spray it into your hair, and suddenly your presence becomes a memory someone else is trying to forget. Or remember. Or write a song about. Amira used to run her fingers through my hair after I used it. She’d say, “You smell like you did something reckless and just haven’t confessed it yet.” She was right. This mist doesn’t fade. It lingers. Like old poetry taped inside a notebook you still carry. The scent settles into musk—warm, ironic, almost too familiar. Like a night you didn’t expect to mean anything. But now, years later, it still owns a piece of you. Then there’s the Rejuvenating Shower Gel & Lotion . I found it by accident—left behind in my bathroom by a woman I met in Goa who told me she used to live in Montmartre but came to India to disappear. One rinse and I got it. It’s clean, fizzy, with that same champagne-citrus rush—but quieter. More private. Like scrubbing off guilt and keeping the good parts. And finally, the Eau de Parfum . The real deal. No frills, no apologies. Just the purest version of what all these products are hinting at. You don’t wear it for likes. You wear it when you’ve got unfinished business. When you’ve lived enough to know that sometimes the right scent can carry you back to the best mistake you ever made. I’ve seen it all over Instagram—“Finally got my hands on this viral mist,” “Living my Parisian girl dream.” I used to roll my eyes. Now I spray it before I go out. Because some nights I want to be her dream. Or maybe just the man she wrote about once, then never spoke of again. They call it the IT-girl fragrance. Sure. But to me, it smells like old jazz bars, leather jackets you never returned, and one perfect day that broke your heart just right. It’s not about masculinity. It’s about memory. This scent doesn’t make me feel pretty. It makes me feel present. Like I still have time to rewrite the ending. Most brands sell Paris like a souvenir shop—berets, baguettes, bullshit. This one? It smells like the Paris you find at 3AM, kissing someone whose name you never asked, while the city lights flicker like bad neon promises. So yeah, I wear a woman’s mist. And every time I do, I remember: I’ve lived. I’ve lost. And I’ve loved like hell. Spray. Breathe. Move. Let them wonder. • Pad vs Banana

SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Pad vs Banana 19 April 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement What is Sex-education? I grew-up in a small town, where the people would receive a thrashing for uttering the word SEX. Writing the word SEX on any piece of paper, was no less than penning our own death warrant. Therefore, learning about it from our schoolbooks became impossible, and talking about it in the public was considered offensive. Along with my puberty came the age of 2G internet, and along with downloading video games setup on proxy servers, porn movies became the hot talk. These enabled the boys of my age to watch videos of penetrative sex. Yes, it was porn movies that gave us them first sex lessons. The debate of ban over pornography has always received mixed opinions, and even mine has fluctuated with time. Sex-education is certainly a must for every person in their late teenage and early adulthood. Particularly, for people like me who grow up in small towns with not much provided guidance. Having been a porn addict, I find myself qualified (read and learned) enough to write against pornography. Pornography lacks consent: I have watched many porn movies in which the female actors are seen undressing their male partners without their consent. The male actors are seen groping their female partners without their consent. Basically, pornography, in general promotes (at least supports) molestation in the name of sex. People may have different political, religious, and regional identities, but no one should consider molestation normal. Anyone defending pornography, for any intention, should at least not let this very thought slip away from their mind. Pornography encourages incest: A significant number of porn movies show the male actor having sex with a girl playing the role of his mother, sister, sister-in-law and even daughter. While the religions and cultures have different opinions on incest, research shows that incest is harmful to possible off springs. Majority of sex educators (gynaecologists) strongly oppose incest, and hence incest shouldn’t be encouraged in the name of sex through pornography. Sanitary napkins vs Bananas: A good porn movie (according to my younger version) is incomplete without a girl inserting unconventional items (like a banana) inside her private parts. The availability of such videos on the internet is a matter of disgrace. Sex education should be about spreading knowledge on the healthy menstrual cycle, sanitation of genitals, valuing consent, and so on. It should certainly not be about the ill-treatment of genitals but rather about EXPLORATION of sexuality. P.S.I do not intend to offend anyone. • The Best Of Both Worlds With Deepti Sadhwani

The Best Of Both Worlds With Deepti Sadhwani by Anushka Sharma The Best Of Both Worlds With Deepti Sadhwani 6 May 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement There is a lot that meets the eye when it comes to Deepti Sadhwani. From being an investment banker in London to finally realising a niche that she has always been interested in, it wasn’t until long that Deepti Sadhwani opened her own production company and got into the realm of music albums, TV, and a lot more. When asked about whether she’d prefer singing or acting, she couldn’t help but find it hard to choose! “Being good at both will always give one an edge above the rest of the competitors. Hence, I’d love to be great at both.” We asked Deepti about who inspires her the most in the realm of music, to which she replied, “Lata Ji has always been a favourite. She has contributed so much into the realm of music, and is synonymous with the Gods of music. Sonu Ji has always been a dear friend and an inspiration to me. In live singing, one can’t ever imagine him miss a beat.” Well, we couldn’t agree more! Speaking of where she sees her career to be headed in the next five years, Deepti tells us that she seeks to ace the events on a global platform and get international recognition. There isn’t much Deepti wishes to change much, considering how both the industries are so dynamic, I just feel that there should be ample chances given to newcomers. They should be welcomed with more openness. When asked about a memory that’s etched in her memory, she fondly recalls how she was crowed as Ms. North India amidst her family, which also helped her get a glimpse into the world of glamour. We didn’t want to wind the interview without something spicy. When asked to pick between Bad Boy Shah and Diljit Dosanjh, Deepti was quick to not be partial! She tells us, “I’ve already been a part of a project with Baadshah, and he’s a dear friend. I’d now love to collaborate with Diljit!” We love how versatile Deepti is. From being dynamic in the genres she is into to being open to a host of new projects in the future, it’s empowering to see her live and thrive through her passion.
