Multifaceted Himanee Bhatia Not Only Proves To Be An Advocate For The Law But Also For Mental Health by Aparajita Jaiswal Multifaceted Himanee Bhatia Not Only Proves To Be An Advocate For The Law But Also For Mental Health 24 January 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement While pursuing her passion for acting, in a freewheel chat with Aparajita Jaiswal, Himanee Bhatia shares her journey about building her career from scratch , from working as a lawyer seeking justice to writing and now being a beloved actress. Her fans are eagerly awaiting her latest releases, wanting to see more of the beloved actress on screen, including but not limited to a webshow for Zee5, two Punjabi music videos , one to be shot in London and one in Japan and a Hindi film for a leading OTT platform and for a south film which is still untitled. An ambitious young woman with much to bring to the world, Himanee Bhatia talks about her fashion mantra, "As cliche as I sound, but really just be yourself. As they say, fashion may come and go but style is eternal. Discover what represents your personality rather than copying what someone wore at a party. See what represents you." Adding to that, Himanee talks about her own fashion style, "I constantly change my fashion choices. One day you'll see me wearing a princessy frilly dress, one day a leather jumpsuit that represents the adventurous side of me and sometimes just a plain white lakhnavi kurta with jeans and no make up- which represents the innocence and simple side of me. It really just depends on my mood." In a race to the death for the spotlight in a trying and difficult industry such as acting, one needs to be patient and have the courage to follow their dreams. What most of us lose out on while looking at the glamorous outlay of Bollywood, Tollywood or Hollywood is the struggle behind the screen for each and every aspiring actor. The key to success is not only perseverance and talent but also the patience to try again after getting rejected multiple times. Himanee Bhatia talks about the struggle of making it as an actress and offers her two cents. "I would like to advise all the girls, that firstly be proud of yourself. It takes courage to follow a path not everyone takes as when you do, you know you have immense competition, you may feel like a drop in the vast ocean, fingers will be raised at you by society, friends may leave you when you struggle and there will be thousands of people who will tell you that your dream is impossible. So be proud that you actually have the guts to take the risk to follow your dreams. "Having said that, I would encourage the girls to believe in their dream and work extremely hard. It is not a cake walk, you will get many rejections unless you're lucky and get a call back right away. But for most of us, we need to understand to be patient, to keep trying, to work on your skills and craft, to take care of yourself, to regularly give auditions and put yourself out there, to train in theatre and to work on yourself and identify what makes you different from the rest. Be unique, rather than falling for the rat race and never, ever compare yourself with others as everyone has a different journey. I would also advise that you need to be extremely disciplined in all aspects. Discipline and hardwork is what will actually make you talented, rather than relying on 'luck'." The multifaceted writer is also an incredible writer, dipping her toe into all genres of writing including poetry. "I write poetry, in both English and Hindi, and each and every poem of mine stands for everything I believe in; love, friendship, questioning society, health, hard work, success and talks about struggle, heartbreak, rising, falling and different experiences we face in life," says Himanee Bhatia. "People inspire me to write. When I see how everyone has a deeper layer to them than what meets the eye, I just feel writing is a beautiful way to see the soul of another human being. I aim to heal through my writing. I also believe in writing comedy, love, friendship and so much more, because a book often helps us escape a darker reality we live in to a happier place." The darker reality of today is the unaccepted and needed cure of therapy. Therapy for mental health issues amongst men and women in today's climate is a must and yet we are extremely judgemental and uninformed about the need of mental health therapy. Himanee Bhatia brings to life this very argued conversation. "Therapy should be accepted as much as going to any other doctor for a case of mild cold or cough. When someone has a fever, we never ask them, 'What led you to have a fever?' or 'Just get over it. Just smile.' Then why do we question this in the case of mental health? As a society we need to understand mental health is as important as physical health and the change begins at home. I urge all parents to recognise the signs and even for children who may see signs in their parents. Teachers need to educate and spread awareness about mental health not just for students but also for their parents. I feel even offices and other workplaces need more awareness for mental health. Therapy is essential for people who need it, and it is time we raise more awareness and stop asking people to 'Just get over it' and for that, change begins at home." As a former lawyer, Himanee Bhatia talks about what inspires her about the law and with our country trying to climb up from the cracks, what is the most heartbreaking thing about our legal system according to her. "I feel the need for justice is what made me do law. Law is for someone who believes in the concept of thinking, rather than just following the rules. Our country is doing our best, however I feel we can do much more. For starters , there are over 5 crore pending cases in India. We need to ensure everyone has a right to justice and speeden up the process, rather than delaying it and making the common man spend years of their life in courts. We all know we have a long way to go for stricter laws for violence against women and children. Every day you read of a case of domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse and so much more against women. Most of the cases are not even reported because as a society we still have a tendency to blame the victim. When a woman goes to report a case of rape, she is made to answer all sorts of derogatory questions which make her relive her trauma and is ridiculed at each step. We still read cases where a woman is chopped alive by her own lover, burnt to death for not giving dowry, rape which also involves marital rape and torture, both mental and physical. A country that cannot protect its women and children has indeed a very long way to go. We also need much, much, much stricter laws for abuse of any kind against children." The passionate actress adds to her thoughts on our law enforcement by also talking about animal abuse. "I wish there would be stricter laws for violence and abuse against animals. Day in and day out we hear of animal abuse and the punishment for some cases is as low as a fine of Rs 50. Only in cases of extreme abuse, is their imprisonment which is also bailable. I also feel we need to take strict action against acid attacks. For starters, even though sale of over the counter acid is banned in India, it is still extremely accessible and we need extremely strict laws to ban this." The actress passionately goes on to add, "the uniform civil code should be applicable in our country, rather than multiple laws applicable depending on different communities. Last but not the least, the men and others that are falsely blamed for false cases of dowry ,rape, etc by a woman or any gender should also be dealt with strictly as laws misused by women are detrimental to the women who actually seek justice." - Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26
Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The night was heavy with anticipation, the kind that hums beneath the skin before a story begins. The chandeliers above glowed like constellations suspended in velvet darkness, and the murmurs of the audience rose and fell like a tide against the shore. Then the music swelled, low at first, almost imperceptible, and the runway came alive. A figure emerged from the shadows, draped in fabric that caught the light like a secret being revealed. In that moment, silence fell, and DIBBA Studio began to write its chapter at Thailand Fashion Week AW25/26 . What unfolded was not a mere display of garments but the telling of a story. DIBBA Studio has always carried the reputation of a brand unafraid of innovation, but this collection transformed that ethos into something much deeper. Each look became a sentence, each fabric a metaphor, each silhouette a carefully chosen word. The runway was their page, the models their narrators, and the tale was one of identity, transformation, and artistry at its most distilled. The collection leaned into contrasts, weaving the past into the present, precision into fluidity, stillness into movement. Jackets cut with sharp edges softened into cascading hems. Drapes suggested tradition yet refused to remain confined within it, dissolving instead into gestures of contemporary rebellion. The designs seemed to speak to heritage without echoing it too literally, translating memory into a language meant for now. Textures played the role of punctuation. Heavy wool stood solid, cotton carried the warmth of familiarity, while gauzy layers slipped through the air like whispers. One could almost imagine the sensation of fabric against skin, the steady weight of a structured shoulder, the fleeting coolness of silk as it brushed against light. The tactile story was as vivid as the visual one, reminding everyone that clothing is an experience, not just an image. Movement deepened the narrative. With each step, garments shifted their meanings. An oversized coat that at first appeared austere softened into unexpected gentleness, angular lines collapsed into liquid ease, rigid outlines dissolved into forms that seemed to breathe. Fashion here was not frozen in presentation; it lived, altered, adapted, like a character revealing new facets as the plot unfolded. The palette carried the emotional arc of the tale. Earth tones such as ochres, greens, and browns offered grounding, as though rooting the collection in the soil of memory. Then came flashes of surprise: a lining of crimson like a pulse of hidden passion, silver threads that glimmered like moonlight, indigo breaking through the muted tones with quiet brilliance. These choices were not decorative but revelatory, moments of sudden clarity embedded within the flow of the story. What struck most was the restraint. DIBBA Studio did not need extravagance to command attention. Every detail seemed deliberate, each garment confident in its simplicity. There was no reaching for spectacle, no unnecessary flourish, only the assurance of a voice that knew its strength. Even the styling of the models reflected this clarity. Sleek hair, understated makeup, and an aura of authenticity emphasized the garments rather than overshadowed them. They moved not as mannequins but as people, carrying the designs into the realm of lived reality. Beneath the spectacle, the collection posed deeper reflections. Fashion is always about more than fabric; it is about identity, about the tension between what we inherit and what we become. DIBBA Studio seemed to ask: how do we honor the past while stepping into the future? How do we carry roots without being bound by them? In a time when the industry wrestles with sustainability, cultural representation, and the place of technology, this collection offered a quiet answer. Progress does not demand erasure, and innovation shines brightest when grown from tradition. As the final model disappeared into the darkness and the applause broke free, the audience was left not with fleeting admiration but with a lingering sensation. This was fashion that lived beyond the runway. It was art, philosophy, narrative, woven into fabric and carried forward in memory. DIBBA Studio’s AW25/26 showcase was not content with being seen; it demanded to be felt. In the end, what unfolded was more than a fashion show. It was an experience, a reminder that clothing is never just about what we wear but about the stories we choose to tell through it. And in that story, DIBBA Studio has carved a chapter that will not fade easily, a chapter that threads itself into the future with poise, confidence, and quiet brilliance. - All About Homebrewing: The Art of Making Probiotic Fermented Beverages
by Rupashree Ravi All About Homebrewing: The Art of Making Probiotic Fermented Beverages 2 August 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement From being gut-friendly and improving digestion to keeping you hydrated and healthy, there are a number of reasons why fermented beverages are finding favour with people all across the world. More and more people are drinking and making non-alcoholic beverages as it offers a host of benefits. Homebrewing, which is simply making beer or wine on a personal and small-scale level, is a hobby and a profession for many. The reason is, that it is high on flavour, low on alcohol, and does not require any fancy equipment. The process of fermenting and making probiotic drinks is very easy, anyone can do it. Homebrewing has become a great hobby and experiment that people are taking up in recent days. The basic idea is to brew a taste test batch of your favourite beverage at your home, be it Kombucha, Tepache, Ginger Beer, Red Table Wine, among a wide variety of options. It can be intimidating at first, but can be very rewarding, and cheap! All you really need is a big vessel, something fermentable, and some yeast. “There are a variety of beverages you can brew and once you get the basics down, it can be simple to add your own unique twist to a recipe.” A great way to start is by brewing a Hard Cider. The easiest method is crushing the juice from a batch of apples, putting it in a jug, and letting it ferment in a dark place for one to three weeks. Apple skins contain various natural yeasts, which end up in the apple juice when the fruit is pressed, but you can choose to add cider yeast which is great for fermentation. You can also add sugar and spices to enhance the taste. Another brewer’s favourite is the Kombucha, which is a great alternative to alcoholic beverages. It is naturally packed with probiotics and is made with water, tea, sugar, bacteria, and yeast. It starts out as a sugary tea, which is then fermented with the help of a SCOBY, an acronym for ‘Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast.’ It is refreshing, fizzy, slightly sour, and low in calories and sugar. You can ferment Kombucha for seven to ten days in a mason jar and close it shut with a tightly woven cloth and lid. Tepache is a fizzy fermented drink made from just pineapple skin, sugar, cinnamon, and water. Its taste can range from cider-like and sweet to yeasty like beer. The process is simple: add pineapple peels to a large jar, add sugar and cinnamon and drown them in water until the peels come to the surface of the jar. Let it ferment for one to three days. The longer it ferments, the less sweet and more yeast-flavoured it will become. You will know the tepache has fermented when you see many small bubbles on top. Refrigerate and enjoy your drink! A batch of Kombucha (left) and Tepache (right) kept for fermentation A sparking probiotic beverage that is very easy to make, Ginger Beer is a traditional remedy for nausea and digestion problems and is good for the throat. You will need to make a powerful fermented mixture, Ginger Bug to make this drink. The wild yeast or ginger bug is made by adding water, sugar, and finely chopped ginger to a glass container and letting it sit for twenty-four hours after stirring. Take the next two-three days to add the same amount of ginger and sugar every twenty-four hours until it becomes fizzy. Strain it and add lemon juice. Let it sit at room temperature for three to six days until it gets fizzy. Once they’ve reached that point, you can refrigerate them; but make sure you’re opening the top and burping them once a day. Ginger Beer and Red Table Wine are said to be great for health having healing properties To make a batch of Red Table Wine, add one cup of sugar into a bottle of purple grape juice, add a packet of wine yeast, pop in an airlock, and come back in a few weeks. Alternatively, you can add around three quarts of the juice to a glass jar, before adding six cups of sugar and a pack of yeast. With these amazing and easy-to-make beverages, you can start homebrewing some of your own in no time. It’s a healthy hobby and is definitely a skill that comes over a period of time. Ultimately, it will be worth all the time and effort. Moreover, it is the best way to take part in an age old tradition that stretches all the way back to the Neolithic! #Homebrewing #Fermentation #Probiotic #Kombucha #SCOBY #Tepache SEARCH How to keep your skin healthy naturally FOOD Fantasy breakfast FOOD All About Homebrewing: The Art of Making Probiotic Fermented Beverages FOOD Virgin Territory: These non-alcoholic thirst quenchers are mixologist approved FOOD Tasting the sunny side of Christmas: Christmas Cocktails FOOD POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah Mumbai’s Take On Valentine’s, From Dinners To Sweet Endings 10 February 2026 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape Breeze By Lebua State Tower: Duck Skin, Oolong, And The Distance Between Who You Are And Who You Were 9 September 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape China Table Restaurant At Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok: A Dim Sum Story At Dusk 7 September 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape The Blooming Gallery: A Fever Dream Of Matcha And Moss 15 August 2025 FOOD RELATED POSTS Advertisement
- Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern 16 July 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In India, this socially viable topic catches many eyeballs on discussion forums, political rallies and media galleries. We have often seen philanthropists, social entities or de crème de la crème of the society embellishing their views to fight for the profoundly rooted theories of Gender Equality, Equal participation, democratic decision making and most specifically Women Emancipation. But the recorded statistics provoke us to unleash the peel of these heated discussions which might sound very promising but lack the realistic angle. For instance, in many parts of our country sex ratio has dropped to fewer than 850 females per 1000 males. India is ranked 132 out of 148 countries on Gender Inequality Index as per the 2013 Global Human Development Report. The crimes against women fly directly against orchestrating women empowerment in India. A report on the crime against women by National Crime Records Bureau justifies the statement with some alarming facts and figures: Crime Head – % Variation in 2012 over 2011 Rape (Sec.376 IPC) – 3% Kidnapping & Abduction (Sec.363 to 373 IPC) – 7.6 % Torture (Sec.498-A IPC) – 7.5 % Dowry Death (Sec. 302/304 IPC) – 4.5 % Molestation (Sec.354 IPC) – 5.5 % Sexual Harassment (Sec. 509 IPC) – 7.0% Importation of Girls (Sec 366 – B IPC) – 26.3% This ironical phase of Women Empowerment is the central protagonist of our concern. We have a sense that holistic development cannot be imagined without the vigorous participation of women but like a silent admirer we are calmly supporting the fragmentary concept of Marginalization. No matter what our esteemed leaders said or done. But women have always been marginalized and ostracized as undesirable members of our society. No forum has been constructed to rationalize the Tag of “Second Citizen” which we bestow to this clique of women. Societal prism gives a stereotypical account of Empowerment which defines- “Empowerment” is the mere craftsmanship of an environment where women can make independent decisions on their personal development as well as shine as equals in society. But this definition does not channelize a concrete route which could actually lead women to this illusory environment. In spite of having epic discussion on this topic, this marginalized group is deprived of the mainstay of Empowerment i.e. Pride of Self Accomplishment and Self Supporting. Often Empowerment is seen as a force from the outer world like NGOs, Social groups or Govt. who stretches their hands to this neglected clan, but this disquieting issue cannot be faded without encouraging and developing skills for, Self Sufficiency, with a spotlight on eliminating the future need of any superficial assistance. For instance, instead of equipping them with peripheral aid, this band of victims must be encouraged to create their own non-profits organisation, using the rationale that only these marginalized people, themselves, can know their own people need most, that control of the organization must be centralized in their hands only. If women were empowered to take dynamic partaking in the organized sectors of the society, the possibility for economic growth becomes perceptible. Empowering women in developing countries is critical to curtail global poverty since women represent most of the world’s poor population. Eliminating a significant part of the nation’s workforce on the sole basis of gender can have detrimental effects on the economy of that nation. In addition, female participation in counsels, groups, and businesses is seen to aggrandize competence. For a general idea on how an empowered women can impact a framework monetarily, a study found that of Fortune 500 companies, “those with more women board directors had significantly higher financial returns, including 53% higher returns on equity, 24% higher return on sales and 67% higher returns on invested capital (OECD, 2008).This study shows the impression that women can have all round economic benefits of a Co. If implemented strategically on a global scale, the inclusion of women in the formal workforce can provide an edge to the economic productivity of a nation. But as discussed in the initial episodes of this article, there are several challenges that are currently plaguing the issues of women’s rights in India. The native goal of empowerment can only be achieved by targeting these issues. Studies of this paradigm say – Education is the core element that can either make or mar the authenticity of empowerment. While the country has grown from leaps and bounds since its independence where education is concerned, the gap between women and men is ruthless. While 82.14% of adult men are educated, only 65.46% of adult women are known to be literate in India. Not only is an illiterate woman damsels in distress but aloof from the errands of this cosmetic world. Additionally, the norms of culture that title the man as the alpha and omega of family decisions are gradually spoiling the society of the country. Poverty is considered the greatest threat to peace in the world, and due to hopeless poverty, women are exploited as domestic helps and wives whose incomes are usurped by the man of the house. Even the horrifying reality of sex slaves are a direct outcome of poverty only. The third pal of these two unpromising causes is Health & Safety. The health & safety concern of women are paramount for the wellbeing of a country, and most importantly a vital factor in gauging the empowerment of women in a country. However there are threatening statistics where maternal healthcare is concerned In its 2009 report, UNICEF came up with shocking figures on the status of Indian mothers in India. The maternal mortality report of India stands at 301 per 1000, with as many as 78000 women in India dying of childbirth complications in that year. We can’t deny that there are several series of programmes that have been set into motion by the Govt. and several NGOs in the country to bridge up the dead pan gap between these gender conflicts but these external bodies can only conceal the problem. If we really want to get liberated of this dual world in terms of Gender, then, the strapping pole of Marginalization must be shunned and men oriented fiefdom syndrome must be broken into unbreakable pieces. In short, Empowerment is not an ostentatious or grandiloquence portrayal of outer self but an honest urge to get unshackled from the rotten dogmas of society and earn the power of “Self”. - The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom
The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom by Yashi Srivastava The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom 15 December 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement India is a land of traditions that go thousands of years back. From Ayurveda to Yoga and festivals, even buttons, exhibit Her glorious culture, and a splendour that my country really is! Amongst the many spectacular factors that help India stand out from the western countries is the way Indians dressed – back in time. So, when we talk about Indian attire, there is no way that we wouldn’t talk about the exuberance that flow from the oldest Indian fabric used for weaving attires – handloom! Before the Britishers took over our beautiful country, Indians wore attired made only from handloom fabric. So, yes, the history and heritage of Indian handloom goes way back in time and in this article, we shall throw some light on the rich history of Indian handloom. What is handloom? Handloom was originally a variety of wooden frames used by artisans to weave fabrics out of them. The fabrics usually came from natural fibre including cotton, wool, jute, silk, etc. The procedure involved spinning the yarn followed by coloring to weaving the fabric on the loom – the final product came to be known as handloom. The history of Indian handloom – Early Days The history of Indian handloom takes us back to the Indus Valley civilization, when the first evidence of the fabric came up. Ancient India was the only producer of raw cotton and even exported the same to other countries, including Rome, China, and European nations. In fact, back in the time, every village in the country has its own weavers who spent hours in making attires like saree and dhoti to fulfil the clothing needs of the villagers. The beauty of the time was that the Indian handloom, in its beginning, was the purest material and the same showed when people wore it. The history of Indian handloom – The Gandhian Era Even though India enjoyed a golden phase of handloom heritage, its popularity went down once British took over the country. In order to increase the consumption and production of the yarn, Britishers used violence and coercion on the workers and weavers. The machine-made imported yarn made it difficult for the poor workers to keep up with the production, and thus, led to the downfall of the fabric. Most workers started working for the middlemen and traders, and the authenticity of Indian handloom shook to the core. However, during the Gandhian era, the age of handlooms was revived through Swadeshi Movement, where Mahatma Gandhi re-introduced the spinning wheel or ‘charkha’ to continue the production of khadi products. Since every Indian was involved in spinning the ‘charkha,’ the economy of the country saw a massive upgrade! People burnt the imported clothes and wore khadi everywhere, which even led to closing of mills in Manchester. The history of Indian handloom – Post Independence Even after India earned Her independence, textile industry continued to bloom and different weaving styles and fabrics were introduced. Even though, handloom didn’t rise exactly as high as it did before British colonisation, it was still widely used. The beauty of Indian handloom today Today, the cost of natural fibre is blowing by leaps and bounds because most people are not interested in buying the same these days. Most Indians prefer cheaper fabric and don’t really connect with the rich heritage of Indian handlooms. Khadi products, today, have a high cost, in comparison to other materials, and thus, not many regular people in India can afford to buy the fabric. Even so, the beauty of Indian handloom is unmatchable and still boasts of rich tradition and glorious past of our country. Even though the original Indian handloom cannot compete with the poly-mixed products that are way cheaper, the timelessness of handloom will always carry the hard work and skills of Indian craftsman from the past. Conclusion It is all right to say that the popularity of Indian handloom is only vanishing since the time we earned independence. The beautiful handloom deserves a place in the present as much as it did in the past. So, let’s work our bit to bring the true Indian attire back into business. Blob - The beauty of Indian handloom is such that goes back to the Indus Valley civilization, and even though, it faces tough competition from the poly-mix fibre today, the fabric has withheld a place of its own. - Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained
Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained by Aishwarya Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained 9 December 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Colour has a major role in our day-to-day life. Colours influence our mood and perception in life. They are an inevitable and important aspect of our lives. We buy clothes based on our colour liking, but the psychology behind it often goes unnoticed. Colour is the first thing that we notice, whenever consuming something. The concept of colour psychology plays a big role in the fashion design field. Now, you might be thinking what is colour psychology? Colour psychology is the influence of colours on the functioning of a person. It is a study of colours and their shades, to know more about our human behaviour. We get influenced by many things like perception, placebo, moods, nature etc. It is believed that our ancestors also used colour psychology as a therapy. It isn't a modern-day concept but, Egyptians, as well as Chinese people, practised Chromotherapy. This therapy included colour psychology, through which they used to heal people from their ailments. Colours have their own significance and meaning, and this is used in the design field to provoke a certain emotion. For example, red indicates bold and fierce, blue indicates calmness and loyalty and so on. Some colours are also associated with the calendar seasons. In the fall season, we tend towards shades of brown and orange, while in the winters we tend towards bright fun colours. The four primary colours- red, blue, yellow and green, is related to our mind, body and emotions. Let us see a few colours and how it affects our cognitive behaviour. Red colour indicates physical strength, warmth, energy, excitement and stability. In spirituality, it is the colour of the root chakra, the chakra that controls our existence and deep rooted knowledge. It is a dominant colour and is often related to defence, aggression and strain. Red should be preferred when you want to show power and warmth at the same time. Blue colour indicates intellect, communication, trust, logic, loyalty, calm and serenity. It is the colour of the throat chakra, the chakra that rules communication and our truth. It is also associated with coldness, aloofness, and unfriendliness. Blue colour calms the mind unlike red colour, which excites the mind. Blue can be worn for professional endeavours as it represents confidence and reliability. The yellow colour indicates optimism, creativity, self-esteem, extraversion and emotional strength. It is the colour of the Solar Plexus chakra, the chakra that rules the self, and the identity of the person. It is also associated with irrationality, fear, depression and suicide. The yellow colour has a long and emotionally stimulating wavelength to it. Yellow is considered to be the most active colour, psychologically. Violet indicates spiritual awareness, containment, vision, luxury, truth and quality. It is the colour of the Third Eye chakra, the chakra that rules intuition and higher perspective. It also indicates introversion, suppression and inferiority. It is considered that the people who wear purple are creative, insightful, and have an artistic approach. They are often mysterious and dreamy. The Grey colour depicts a lack of confidence, hibernation and depression. Grey is the only colour that has no direct psychological effects. The absence of colour makes it a depressing sight to see. It is a symbol of tranquillity, maturity and neutrality. It is difficult to define the characteristics of a person wearing a grey colour. The most loved colour, black depicts sophistication, glamour, efficiency and security. It also indicates oppression, menace and heaviness. Black is an absorption of all colours and doesnt depict a single characteristic of its own. Black creates an impression of importance and power. It makes the person to be taken seriously and respectfully. The effects of colours on our minds are more than we can ever imagine. So, the next time you choose a dress for yourself, make sure to know what you are looking to represent and then choose the colour. Choose the colours that you want in your life and, don't let the colours choose you instead. Colour psychology is the influence of colours on the functioning of a person. - Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
SOCIETY by Anadi Gupta Why India is the most depressed country in the world? 1 September 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement India is the world’s most depressed country and we don’t talk about it as much as we talk about other diseases, but you’ll be shocked to know that 300 million people worldwide are suffering from depression. Depression and bad mental health have been ignored as a serious issue since ages. Mental health is as important as physical health but sadly nobody takes it as a serious illness and avoid talking about it. People in India still take it as a taboo. A study reported in WHO, conducted for the National Care Of Medical Health, states that at least 6.5 per cent of the Indian population suffers from some form of the serious mental disorder, in spite of the rural-urban differences. Though there are effective measures and treatments, there is an extreme shortage of doctors and mental health workers like psychologists and psychiatrists. As reported latest in 2014, it was as low as ”one in 100,000 people”. The average suicide rate in India is 10.9 for every one lakh people and the majority of people who commit suicide are below 44 years of age. According to these data, India is in a serious mental health crisis but the attitude which Indians show towards it is not helpful at all. It won’t make any change. A major part of population of India is highly judgmental towards those who have any kind of mental illness. They don’t like to talk to such people because they think it will affect their mental health too. According to the surveys the people who understand it come from good socio-economic environment and are highly educated. The young kids are coming forward to support many mental health campaigns because they understand and are facing stress a lot. India has less resources and more population but one of the main aspects in which we highly fail is the stereotypical thinking of the people who live here. People still are blinded by the fake traditions and rituals. But depression is a serious mental illness which should be taken seriously otherwise it can cause long lasting severe feelings of sadness, hopelessness and loneliness. There can be different symptoms for different people and it can also be differentiated according to gender. Many people mistook depression for sadness but it is more than just being sad and lonely. Symptoms of it can last from months to years. A person with depression cannot find pleasure or joy in anything. It gets very difficult for one to start a day and get off from the bed. There is just so much hopelessness in everything they do. Everything seems so tiring and difficult. If you see a person like this please tell him to get help if needed and get a proper treatment otherwise it may result in us losing another life. Spread awareness against it, try to make people aware everywhere that mental peace and stability is the most important thing. Many celebrities are now breaking stereotypes and coming forward to talk about it publicly so people can realize its effects. Many mental health foundations are doing great work for the cause. And we can now only hope for things to get better. SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - 8 Teenage Girl Fashion Ideas For Your First Date
8 Teenage Girl Fashion Ideas For Your First Date by Yashi Srivastava 8 Teenage Girl Fashion Ideas For Your First Date 11 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Imagine this. You are finally going on your first date, and you have so many outfit ideas hovering inside your brain. From make-up to hair to footwear and your attire, there is so much to do and prepare for, right? But if you worry about your ensemble, when will you revel in the excitement of going on your first date? Well, this is the part where we step in. Even though there is no doubt that you will wear something swoon-worthy on your date, we want you to make (read-create) a fashion statement! To help you with the same, we have curated a list of some spectacular fashion ideas that not only scream style but also whisper class. Check these ideas below and let us know how you like them! 1. Throw in the colors According to many stylists, the best colors to wear on a date are black, blue, red, and white. While we agree with them, we want you to experiment with many yellows, oranges, and greens. For example, how about exhibiting this bright yellow skirt with a floral yet funky slim jacket and casual white top? You can match the same with super-chic sneakers or black heels as well. Extra points for leaving your hair open and carefree with those stylish shades and minimal make-up. If you like this combination, you would love this printed dress that encompasses countless colors that are vibrant in every sense of the world. Pairing this dress with either loose hair or a relaxed fishtail would give you a look with this feminine dress. The look will quadruple your style statement if you wear heeled boots in a shade of brown. You must, however, always choose to wear shoes that you feel comfortable there. You got the idea, right? 2. Keep it simple but sexy Many teen girls don’t appreciate the idea of garnering too much attention on their first date. It is quite understandable since you are only breaking into the dating world. So, it is excellent to keep it soft, supple, and straightforward, but to make a statement of your own; you have to make it all sexy. So, how about this gorgeous combo of a brick-red halter top and linen high-waisted black skirt? It is simple, comfy, and subtle with a touch of sexy, and that’s precisely how you would like it! With this pairing, you can make a loose plait or twist and fold your hair while letting them go wherever they want. To add a pinch of calm, you wear converse with visible socks or classy flats, peep toes, or simple heels to go with it. Here’s another idea for you to bring sexy with your simple! All you have to do is get your hands on a grey or a dull-brown fit and flare dress and fuse it with a lace shrug. You can also accentuate the look by wearing thin-rimmed glasses with elegant earrings, a pretty necklace, or a choker. An elegant anklet won’t hurt when paired with casual chappals or flats. 3. Monotone Aesthetic When nothing makes sense, go mono! In other words, you can never go wrong with a monotone dress, co-ed, or whatever keeps your vibe flowing. For example, check out this gorgeous all-pink bodycon dress coordinated with silver-rimmed black sunglasses. You can choose the shades that go well with your face and leave your hair open, clip them up, or go for a loose bun. Now the footwear could be anything from flats to wedges to heels and even white Nike sneakers to go with it – you will look spectacular in any of those! About the make-up part, we’d tell you to choose dark and smoky eyes with nude lipstick, and you would blow their minds! 4. Class it up with layers! Every young girl knows how classy it is to ensemble your fashion statement in layers and how challenging it is to pull them off on your first date! If you want to do it right, here’s another idea! Our pick is this shoulder tunic blouse blended with a stunning corset belt. Wear khaki trousers or regular jeans for the bottom, and you will be good to go! We believe you can go for sneakers or stompers with this one, but many girls would love to wear elegant flats with flowy trousers or so! With this one, you can add charm bracelets, hoop earrings, a nose pin, or a watch. Minimal make-up with nude lips is undoubtedly the way to go with! Not to forget, a messy or top bun would amp up this look, but we believe it is eventually the style you feel most comfortable in! 5. Black is the color of all seasons Finally, a fashion idea all teenagers will agree on! Black, and it is, by all means, the color of every season in all fashions! So, what would be an ideal black fit for a perfect date night? Let’s start with this easy and comfortable fit that you can quickly put together – a casual black top paired with a long pleated skirt and sleek black belt that adds extra oomph to the entire ensemble. Your whole aura would scream with a new class genre when paired with ankle-length and high-heeled boots - bonus points for carrying this look with pixie-cut, Harry Potter’s dark-rimmed circular glasses, and dark lips. Since we are talking about the color of all seasons, it would be only fair to add ideas to your wardrobe. So, let’s go for a look that would work breathtakingly well on a winter night. You must get a body-hugging top and wear it with black tights or skinny-fit jeans with knee-length black boots. The charm of this outfit would be an Italian wool-mix jacket, and you would be good to go! We recommend red lipstick to go with the look since it will make you glow under the moonlit night. How about throwing a woolen scarf around your neck as well? The choice is yours, by all means! 6. Elegance goes a long way, even as a teenager! Whether you are 18 or 30, elegance will never leave the building! So, we decided to suggest some simple yet impressive ways to carry your grace where ever you go – especially if it’s the first date of your life! Here is an example of the same. Dirty blue full-sleeved lace top tucked in a dark blue maxi skirt. Let’s not forget the white-rimmed tinted sunglasses that add adventure to the entire fit! Trust us; you won’t go wrong with this one. Go ahead and add your style to your hair or choose between free-flowing locks or a braided bun and rock the whole look with a stiletto in your choice of color. When talking about elegance, we certainly cannot leave this look behind. This gorgeous black fit crop top and cut out mustard skirt is thus far, our favorite look for teenage girls going out on their first date. Don’t forget to amp the look up with those breathtaking dangler earrings and stilettos. Leave your hair open and put on pastel shades of shadow with heavy mascara and liner. You can leave the lips nude or a shade of pink and you would be good to go! 7. Cute girl casuals As a teenager, perhaps the most comfortable fashion statement would be to wear a pair of jeans with a white t-shirt and style your hair in a ponytail, and that’s it. Well, you are right, and it’s precisely what we expect you to do! Here’s the look for you! You can also pair up a little white dress with a leather jacket and black boots with no make-up and no accessory look. Trust us, and this won’t be your only date with them. Check out the look below. 8. Funky girl forever No matter the age, you must always channel the inner funky girl whenever the situation demands! And so, if you want to dress up with funk and blue and all that jazz on your first date, we’d say go ahead with it and make them wonder if they deserve you! For the funky girl fashion, here’s how we would dress you! The cut-sleeved faux fur gilet highlights this entire look but looks better when fused with a cream-colored - chanderi silk skirt. Let’s not take our eyes off the stunning leather boots that bring a suaveness to the entire look. Since you are a teenager, we would also recommend a no-make-up look for this look, but surely you can add a glittery eye shadow and heavy mascara on the eyes with this. Conclusion When it comes to style, there is no right way. It is always about the fashion you are comfortable carrying with confidence, class, and elegance. So, don’t worry if you think you cannot pull off particular looks like other girls – you are beautiful in your way. So, keep looking for your perfect look might be around the corner! Fashion for teenage girls shouldn't be just about clothes and style but also confidence, class, and smile. - Labels are to be stuck on goods, not on people
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Labels are to be stuck on goods, not on people 1 June 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Labels, growing up we’ve heard this word for over a thousand times, put the label on chart honey, the price is on the label sir, and many more diverse examples. The thing that we learned the hard way, was that those labels are also stuck on our bodies, our existence, and our whole selves. And the worst part is that these petty labels are stuck by someone else. Human society has an integral concept of putting labels on things they have no say in, things that they should not bother themselves with yet they do engage in this activity. The intrinsic need to have that much control over everything comes out of habit, out of the need to stay with one another in the early stages of human development. But, as time grew, and our bodies evolved and left these inseparable marks in the construct of societies. These labels are put on us right from the minute we are born, the minute our little bodies leave our mother’s safe womb there awaits the band of labels waiting to be stuck on our bodies. This band of labels prolifers into a herd as we grow up. The primary labels are divided into the binary gender system that society believes to be solely existing in this world. Being any of the two genders, there are expectations that our society has from us. A little girl must learn to be polite, silent, and obedient. A teenage girl must be an expert at cooking, staying away from a sparkling social life, and most importantly should be homebound. A woman on the other hand must be fostering every person in her family and should prioritize everyone above her. When they fail to perform even one of these expectations they are suddenly labeled as ungrateful, selfish, and self-centered. Little boys are taught that they should not cry, for crying is the virtue of a girl. Teenage boys are conditioned to choose a career path that could land them tons of money. A man on the other hand should be robust, they should be quick to change a tire at the roadside, they should take care of every financial need whatsoever. Similarly, when they fail to uphold these virtues that society has their tags to hook on you, labels to stick to your existence, and judgments to lay off. Men are called feminine, irresponsible, and a lot of other slangs challenging their manhood if they go against the architecture of societal emotions. The question arises in curious minds that why do these labels exist, why they have been nurtured over centuries, why these things were not removed when we got educated enough? The problem is when we evolved from our biological needs into functioning independent adults, there was always a trace of knowledge that was missing in our minds. All of these attributes that we were subjected to, once used to serve humans as their boat in this sea of life. The glitch is that they didn’t know we could swim through this ocean with our very own hands and legs. That this life is just an act of self-dependence was a very later discovery, until then damage was done. The man had developed an ego, status, and the fact that some people were going against the piece of information they sought was offensive to them. As a result, they started oppression of people they thought could go out of their hands. they specified everyone’s virtues as they pleased and decided labels to ascertain when people don’t obey. Their first target was to suppress women, as they in their sense knew what an epitome of power she is. The one who can create a seed of life can surely rebel against them and show the world the right way. And to stop men from supporting them in any way, they traced a set of tags. Tags so nascent that they will cease the support at once. This seems like a plausible explanation for all these things. Apart from these binary labels, many labels are stuck to our existence in certain specific situations and beliefs. The LGBTQ community is the first slap to their binary understanding. There had and is still prevailing an incessant urge to demolish their community as non-existent, that their orientation is just blurred and that it is against God’s creation that they are living this sinful life. The next is the labels given on the basis of Skin color, the whites are supposed to be the fairer and better race than the darker. Their supremacy has no logical explanation in any terms but these labels still haunt society to this very day. These realms of labels and tags don’t cease, it is present at the vibrance of variants in each specific society. A notion should be held on whether these are required, whether they leave a good impact on one’s mental health, etc. The answers to any of these questions do not go affirmatively. There must be understanding that these labels are downright suicidal to someone, suffocating to others, and mind-numbing to one. We should understand that we are no one to label one person, it’s not a diagram of the nervous system to be labeled but a human being’s mental health that we play along the lines. Thus, it is our duty as a society to be vigilant and responsible to a person. SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
