- Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
SOCIETY by Anadi Gupta Why India is the most depressed country in the world? 1 September 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement India is the world’s most depressed country and we don’t talk about it as much as we talk about other diseases, but you’ll be shocked to know that 300 million people worldwide are suffering from depression. Depression and bad mental health have been ignored as a serious issue since ages. Mental health is as important as physical health but sadly nobody takes it as a serious illness and avoid talking about it. People in India still take it as a taboo. A study reported in WHO, conducted for the National Care Of Medical Health, states that at least 6.5 per cent of the Indian population suffers from some form of the serious mental disorder, in spite of the rural-urban differences. Though there are effective measures and treatments, there is an extreme shortage of doctors and mental health workers like psychologists and psychiatrists. As reported latest in 2014, it was as low as ”one in 100,000 people”. The average suicide rate in India is 10.9 for every one lakh people and the majority of people who commit suicide are below 44 years of age. According to these data, India is in a serious mental health crisis but the attitude which Indians show towards it is not helpful at all. It won’t make any change. A major part of population of India is highly judgmental towards those who have any kind of mental illness. They don’t like to talk to such people because they think it will affect their mental health too. According to the surveys the people who understand it come from good socio-economic environment and are highly educated. The young kids are coming forward to support many mental health campaigns because they understand and are facing stress a lot. India has less resources and more population but one of the main aspects in which we highly fail is the stereotypical thinking of the people who live here. People still are blinded by the fake traditions and rituals. But depression is a serious mental illness which should be taken seriously otherwise it can cause long lasting severe feelings of sadness, hopelessness and loneliness. There can be different symptoms for different people and it can also be differentiated according to gender. Many people mistook depression for sadness but it is more than just being sad and lonely. Symptoms of it can last from months to years. A person with depression cannot find pleasure or joy in anything. It gets very difficult for one to start a day and get off from the bed. There is just so much hopelessness in everything they do. Everything seems so tiring and difficult. If you see a person like this please tell him to get help if needed and get a proper treatment otherwise it may result in us losing another life. Spread awareness against it, try to make people aware everywhere that mental peace and stability is the most important thing. Many celebrities are now breaking stereotypes and coming forward to talk about it publicly so people can realize its effects. Many mental health foundations are doing great work for the cause. And we can now only hope for things to get better. SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - Don Cristóbal’s AW26: Futuristic Folklore Takes Bangkok
Don Cristóbal’s AW26: Futuristic Folklore Takes Bangkok By Ananya Patankar Don Cristóbal’s AW26: Futuristic Folklore Takes Bangkok 11 July 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Exploring cosmos-inspired motifs, ergonomic tailoring, and compositional contrasts on the AW26 runway. In his 6th consecutive showcase, Don Cristóbal presents a balance of ancestral Filipino weaving with a complimenting contrast of futuristic textures, showcasing his boldest fusion yet. Don Cristóbal in his AW26 Thailand Fashion Week showcase quite literally aligned the stars on the runway with his celestial collection . Known for fusing heritage with high-concept fashion, the Filipino designer shifted into a new gear—charting a course that felt both celestial and grounded. This season, he leaned into cosmos-inspired motifs, ergonomic tailoring, and compositional contrasts. Where previous collections honored folklore, AW26 felt like a transmission from the future: metallics met natural fibers, and structure moved with unexpected ease. The result? A techno-spiritual narrative told entirely in silhouette and surface. After seasons of mythic storytelling and textile grandeur, Cristóbal’s latest work takes on a galactic scale—blending ritual, robotics, and radiant silhouettes. Building on the reverent storytelling of his SS24 “Flores de Mayo” and the metallic edge of AW25–26. The collection pays homage to Cristóbal’s roots, inspired by Filipino cosmic mythology and indigenous rituals, the collection channels ancestral spirituality through a futuristic lens. Cosmos-inspired motifs—constellations, astral geometry, lunar shapes—were dominant in garments incorporated via metallic jacquards, chrome appliqué, and reflective paneling. However, the collection incorporated Baybayin scriptures and indigenous tattoos and patterns like encoded prayers, subtly woven into fabric textures and structural silhouettes. This fusion resulted in a collection that feels simultaneously ancient yet advanced—rooted in the sacred but dressed for tomorrow. Cristóbal himself once quoted that fashion is “a place of experiments,” and his 2026 Autumn/Winter feels exactly that: a dialogue between identity and innovation, heritage and hardware, woven together under a galactic gaze. His 2026 collection advances in design vocabulary, with a tactile precision that balances futurism and craft. The fabrics chosen for the collection add tension—coated cottons, and high-sheen vinyls, and what seems like abaca-textured layers and fluid wool blends, creating contrast without conflict. The collection plays with weight and texture, wrapping rigid structures in soft movement. The collection presents a variety of silhouettes in sculptural tones; sharply tailored jackets with ergonomic seams, dramatic shoulders, and capes that billow with ceremonial grace. Cristóbal’s commitment to body-conscious design shows in how these pieces move—structured yet breathable, almost kinetic. Additionally, the collection accommodates technical elements like LED piping beneath transparent layers, reflective panels as armors, and stitching that mimics circuitry. Moreover, accessories pull together the themes with precision, such as headpieces that nod to robotics, evoking the mechanical elegance of his past pageant works without overt reference. A deep, moody palette grounds the collection: silver chrome and galactic blues are tempered by earth reds and neutral fibers, suggesting both orbit and origin. Every detail feels intentional—engineered poetry in motion. With an intergalactic collection at the Thailand Fashion Week, Cristóbal reasserts his position as a visionary voice in Southeast Asian fashion—bridging the ancestral and the avant-garde with signature clarity. This collection proves his ability once again to use tradition with speculative aesthetics—what some call “techno-folklore”—feels increasingly relevant in a region balancing identity and global modernity. More than a designer, Cristóbal is a mentor, a platform-builder, and a provocateur. As whispers of his next move begin, one question lingers in Bangkok’s fashion circles: will SS27 bring digital textiles, biotech couture—or something entirely unimagined? - Pale Volume: Where Clothing Becomes Quiet Confidence
Pale Volume: Where Clothing Becomes Quiet Confidence By Shriniwas Kodape Pale Volume: Where Clothing Becomes Quiet Confidence 12 July 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In a world that rarely pauses, Pale Volume moves to its own rhythm—measured, graceful, and deliberate. Born in Chengdu, this rising women’s wear label doesn't chase the algorithm. Instead, it leans into a slower, more thoughtful kind of beauty—one rooted in precision, restraint, and emotion. These are not clothes that clamor for attention; they hold it gently, like a soft hand placed with intention. Browsing through Pale Volume’s Instagram feed feels less like shopping and more like walking through a gallery bathed in gentle light. There are no bold slogans or loud colors—just quiet compositions, soft-toned fabrics, and garments that seem to breathe. Every hanger feels like it belongs. Every fold, every stitch, every drape carries intention. The mood is somewhere between a whispered memory and the poise of sculpture. This is not fashion stripped bare, but fashion distilled to its essence. Their Spring/Summer 2025 collection speaks this language fluently. Pastel pinks, soft mint, linen white, and chalky greys move through the pieces like a muted symphony. Nothing grips too tightly; nothing tries too hard. A sleeve falls with the casual grace of water; a hem floats just above the ground like it’s remembering how to land. A ruched bodice sits beside a barely-there skirt. Every garment seems designed not just to fit the body, but to accompany a mood, a moment. In Pale Volume’s hands, draping becomes an expression. Each fold becomes a phrase. Each hem, a breath. These are not clothes for the performance of femininity, but for the internal ritual of self-awareness. What’s striking is the brand’s discipline. There is no chaos here. The tailoring is exact, yet never cold. The silhouettes are modern, yet timeless. It’s easy to imagine these garments on a painter in Kyoto, a curator in Milan, or a novelist writing in Bangkok. Though its roots are unmistakably Chinese, Pale Volume’s aesthetic is quietly global—an understated dialect of elegance that needs no translation. The boutique in Chengdu’s Jinjiang District doesn’t scream retail. It murmurs. It invites. More concept space than storefront, the shop mirrors the garments it holds. Soft-filtered light spills across bouquets of blue hydrangeas. Mannequins dressed in pale muslins look less like mannequins and more like muses caught mid-thought. The stillness of the space, the restraint of its design, feels intentional—like the pages of a poem turned slowly. Retail architecture rarely feels this personal. Pale Volume’s social media presence follows suit. Modest in numbers but deeply curated in tone, the feed isn’t made for virality. It’s made for feeling. A garment caught swaying in a shaft of light. A model paused mid-step. A moment that feels lived-in. Nothing is polished to perfection, but nothing is careless either. It’s what some might call slow fashion, but here, slowness isn’t a statement—it’s a rhythm. A decision to create deliberately, to speak only when there’s something worth saying. There’s a kind of woman Pale Volume seems to dress—not defined by age or size or trend, but by intent. She lingers in front of the mirror not to check how she’s seen, but to check how she feels. She dresses not for approval, but for alignment. She doesn’t chase admiration, but she moves with it. She’s not trying to look beautiful; she’s looking to feel whole. In that intention, Pale Volume finds its purpose. It does not fill wardrobes; it carves out moods. It leaves space, for the body and the mind, to simply be. And maybe that’s what makes Pale Volume quietly radical. In an industry built on spectacle, it offers calm. In a culture of overproduction, it chooses restraint. In a market obsessed with what’s next, it dares to linger on what’s here. It’s not for everyone. But that’s exactly why it matters. If fashion can be a whisper instead of a shout, a breath instead of a performance, a mirror instead of a mask—then Pale Volume is already ahead of its time. And for the woman who finds herself drawn to that kind of quiet, it won’t just be a brand. It’ll feel like home. Pale Volume showcased this poetic Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Thailand Fashion Week , a platform where fashion finds depth and global voices shine. The brand’s inclusion in Thailand Fashion Week signals a broader movement toward intention-led, soulful design. - This Is What Will Happen If You Stop Using All Skincare Products For Three Months
By Anushka Sharma By Anushka Sharma This Is What Will Happen If You Stop Using All Skincare Products For Three Months 25 June 2024 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Well, to say the least, your skin will literally clear up like never before. Let’s talk about a case study and refer to that person as “X”, as “X” does not wish to disclose her real identity. X has been travelling the world as a digital nomad throughout her life, and definitely suffered from the adverse effects that travelling has on one’s skin. With a combination skin type, X was trying her level best to come up with a solution that would help her combat her skincare troubles. If you don’t know this already, combination skin type is one of the most common skin types around; It is signified as dry and sensitive in some areas such as one’s cheeks, and oily in others such as one’s T-zone. So, X starts on a journey of skincare which involved involved a twice-daily (morning & evening) face wash, followed by toner, hydrating face cream, and eye cream. She also included an exfoliating face wash once or two times a week. X didn’t want to exactly disclose the names of the brands, because the problem wasn’t in the brands, the problem was in the fact that the world told X to lather her skin with useless products. What happened after that? Well, nothing positive. Until no time, X started breaking out into little red bumps and developing high sensitivity around the cheek-region. It resulted in her skin being itchy, irritable, and inflamed. After a while, X realised that there was no point in using so many products on her skin which was already on a downgrade. Hence, she chose to blindly follow her father’s advice and eliminated every skincare product from her skincare routine. So, what was the new routine like? This routine was something that X would’ve never thought of adhering to in her wildest dreams. However, in this new routine, X chose to eliminate all the products and just keep the basics in hand. She ensured to wash her face every morning/evening with a damp warm towel (no products at all), and made it a point to use a natural lip balm for her lips, sunscreen during the day, and treated her skin to natural face masks on Sunday (All you need to do is literally spread aloe vera, yogurt or honey on your face.) What happened with this routine was BEYOND ORDINARY. For the first two days, X experienced inflammation where the cheek area got a tad irritated. After all, the skin was so fatigued. After two good days, the skin calmed down and continued to get calmer and calmer. Within ten days, X could notice that her skin had visibly calmed down and it looked significantly relaxed. The spots weren’t very prominent and the itchiness and sensitivity had faded. Within thirty days, X’s skin had adjusted to her new skin and saw pretty good results. Almost everything had faded and she was left with clear, almost supple, baby-like skin. This article isn’t written to make you hate lab-formulated products. However, it’s always ideal to look out for natural ingredients that are extracted from the goodness of the Earth. The usage of so many products definitely exposes our skin to a whole lot of chemicals and strips it off its essential oils. Why on earth would we ever want that for our skin? - K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe
K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe by Yashi Srivastava K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe 10 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement K-pop is more than a music genre in 2022. It is a wave, a trend, a bold choice of fashion coupled with luxury and serving looks! Korean pop music has its roots fixed in the 90s, but after the rise of artists like PSY and BTS, K-pop has taken over the global wardrobe, not just with its music but also fashion, style, and charisma. Why shouldn’t it? After all, K-pop idols are some of the most beautiful faces that you would come across. It is thus, not surprising to know that most of them are headlining several luxury fashion shows across the world and many have become the face of brands like Celine, Dior, Milan, Gucci, and more. So, how is K-pop influencing the wardrobe of the entire fashion world? We shall discuss the same in this article. The rise of K-pop fashion As mentioned already, it all began with during the early 90s when Seo Taiji and Boys created a concoction of South Korean tradition with western instruments and highlighted the same with stunning choreography! The world was in awe and since then, there's been no looking back for the music genre. With time, K-pop fashion promoted fashion accessories like bucket hats, loose fitting T-shirts and jeans, flannels, and more. By the late 90s, K-pop music soared since the term ‘idol’ was coined which led the musicians to become more than performers - they became celebrities and the global (wardrobe) domination of K-pop thus began. Currently, K-pop fashion dabbles between streetwear and sportswear off-stage and everything that’s luxury, starting from Gucci, Versace, Dior, Cartier, Celine, etc. The current popularity of K-pop fashion It is safe to consider K-pop fashion as one of the biggest trends of 2022. From baggy clothes to skirts, to anoraks, from Girls Generation being invited to 2012 Mulberry show in London to BTS attending the 2018 Billboard Awards in complete Gucci outfits - Korean pop culture fashion has certainly come a long way! It is not wrong to say that the digital media has played a prominent role in taking the K-pop popularity to a whole new level, not only in East- Asia and South-Asia but also the West. However, it is not just K-pop idols that have influenced the world wardrobe and have been a part of the global fashion world. Korean fashion brands such as Gentle Monster and Minju Kim are making waves across the world with their fresh styles and K-pop inclined clothing. In fact, popular brands like Adidas have now come up with merchandise that is completely influenced by the K-pop genre, and the sales are on an all-time high! The influence of K-pop idols in global fashion K-pop idols aren't just singers anymore - they are ambassadors of South Korean culture, style, and fashion - and the global fashion world is loving their charisma! From BTS’ V to GOT7’s Jackson and Blackpink’s Lisa, everyone is known for their unique sense of style and cosmic fashion trends. They are breaking the internet with their stunning fashion sense and persona! In fact, they can make or break a fashion trend within minutes and scream of luxury and charm in every sense of the word. It is thus, not uncommon for top fashion brands to seek out idols from K-pop groups like Blackpink, Twice, Aespa, Monsta X, TxT, Red Velvet, and more to promote their brand via advertisements and fashion shows. Why shouldn’t they? After all, K-pop idols are known for their extravagant sense of fashion loaded with high-end accessories and vibrant colors, both on hair and their outfits! However, their fashion isn’t only limited to the stage. From airport looks to casual outings, K-media has its eyes on them and most idols do not disappoint! And let’s not forget the influence they have on some of the most popular fashion brands, like Louis Vuitton, who moved an entire fashion show to Seoul, South Korea, only for the legends known as BTS to promote the brand. In fact, the collection was sold out within a few minutes of the event. BTS’ airport look, where they were dressed in LV clothes from top to bottom, also sold out within a few hours after photos were released online. While BTS have their own contribution in bringing the world’s attention to K-pop culture, it is the aestheri and eye-catching visuals of K-pop idols from several groups that keeps the genre’s popularity growing. EXO Kai for Gucci and Bobbi Brown, IU for Gucci, Red Velvet Irene for Prada, Blackpink’s Jisoo for Cartier and Dior, Aespa for Givenchy, EXO Sehun for Dior, are some of the popular K-pop names who are faces or brand ambassadors of some high-end luxury brands. Wrapping up K-pop idols, in recent times, have proven that they are way ahead of the curve in terms of fashion and media both, and they aren’t stopping anytime soon! So, get ready, because K-pop is and will be the moment for several coming years in trends, style, and of course, influential fashion. Blob - It is not just the outfit that defines fashion for K-pop idols. They are also about style that sends and spreads a message, the make-up that accentuates the beauty of the IDOL irrespective of the gender, and visuals that are as stunning as they can get. - Dear Earth
SOCIETY by Anushka Singh Dear Earth 1 October 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Dear Earth, I hope you’re doing fine. It has been an extended time since we last talked. To be honest, I feel wordless. It’s one of those dilemmas where we have got an entire ocean of thoughts inside us but we feel clueless of how to let it flow. We’ve been here before for countless times, the crisis chats, arguments, disputes, tears, promises and plenty more. But now, it’s different. Now I understand why they say: “It’s not you, it’s me.” I loved you from the instant I became capable of even understanding words like these. I saw your unequaled beauty, your tenderness and warmth, your soothing and diligently devoting nature. Although you never reacted to my ceaseless vents, you continued to make me feel the solace around you that I felt nowhere else. And, I am thankful. You have always been there, making me feel the very fact that I am not alone, through your littlest of efforts. Nightly, when I’ve spent hours watching the sky trying not to feel sad, you made me feel your presence. Every sundown, after I sat on the waterfront admiring your charm, the wind kissed my cheeks. I do know it surely was you, notifying that you love me back. I muse on all the content times we humans explored your magnificent mountains and endless seas; after we lazed in your sun, pacified by your pleasing breeze. I always hoped for these precious moments which are so near my heart, to never end. Over the years, I have tried to carry out my part of promises. I assumed multiple times, why do you even need me or people to talk on your behalf if you are the one to create us in the first place. I wasn’t sure if it was just another trick of yours to make people act or you were just terrified of something. I feel apologetic to admit, I didn’t even ask you. You were and you have always been my ally, my best friend and I like a stupid, just assumed that I knew what was best. I guess that is the point, isn’t it? You kept trying to speak. To me, to people, to the universe. We just took it light enough for you to destroy yourself. But today, I accept. It isn’t you, it’s me; it’s us. The reason i’m writing this letter is because I have realised something. It’s not you who needs the saving, it’s me. It’s me and us, the humans. We humans, who try to become the hero for you, forgot that you don’t actually need one. In those magnificent mountains and endless seas, lies the flair for us to nourish, clothe and foster ourselves, without limit. Your warm sun and pleasing breeze can give us the energy to learn, work and prosper over a lifetime. You’ve always been there helping us literally survive and live. You have been there in every way that you could but when came our turn, we backed off. We became selfish as we are. Dear earth, here I am. Here I am, apologizing on behalf of the whole civilization and human race, for destroying all that you gave us with all of your love. I am sorry, for the things that i could not stop and the things i am unable to change anymore. Please know, all of me loves all of you regardless of anything. It’s just that you won the game of proving yourself and I failed. Yours truly, Someone who is really sorry. SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - Love Yourself
SOCIETY by Neha Pande Love Yourself 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The 21st century has had some of the best inventions, theories, findings and the list goes on and on, but 21st century, especially 2017 and 2018, have also marked the beginning of body positivity for men and women. Now tell me how many times have you felt down thinking about your body? Thinking I’m fat or I’m too skinny or my arms are too long or my thighs need a thigh gap or maybe not. How many times have you looked into the mirror and felt sick of the way you look? But this year is the time when you leave all those worries behind and think positively about yourself and your body. Go to the gym because you want to be healthy, not skinny or eat a lot, not because you want more mass on your body, eat for yourself because it’s healthy for your body. Girls and guys at times get gloomy because of their body weight thinking “I’m getting too fat and I should probably go on a diet,” To them my answer is, No honey! No need to go on a diet! Because you look and are perfect just the way you are and let’s not forget in olden times a little bit of fat or plum was in fashion and now is coming back into fashion. The boys and girls who say “I’m too skinny, ” To them I’d like to say is that god you look beautiful and to my guy friends I’d like to say, you look handsome! I mean look at those collar bones, I want those. Beauty is subjective and it’s us who are making it objective but I’m proud of some high fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle for giving chances to models who do not fit the typical “model” standards that are tall, slim and oval shaped face models with great eyebrows. There has been a significant change in the fashion and makeup world which is embracing body positivity but there is always more scope as we still are hesitant towards it. We all should embrace ourselves and our bodies, go to the gym and exercise because it’s good for the body and eat yummy dishes because you deserve it! The best thing is nowadays we have amazing role models to look up to who talk about body positivity and how to embrace it, like Demi Lovato, Arjun Kapoor, Shane Dawson and many more who talk about how important it is to be body positive and spread body positivity. I mean if Robert Downey Jr. can be short and be the infamous Iron Man who has shaken up the movie industry. Our amazingly talented Adele can be plum and still embracing her body and rocking the stage, then we can also embrace our body and be positive about it. #BodyPositivitySelfloveLoveyourselfPositivityVogueEllePlussizeSkinnyDemiLovatoShaneDawsonRobertDowneyJuniorArjunKapoorAdeleBodylove SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview
Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview by Aparajita Jaiswal Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview 6 April 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Barkha Singh , an actor, and content creator, digs up some fewer known facts and details about her journey with interviewer Kavya Gupta. The conversation gets more exciting as Barkha discusses her YouTube Channel, her growth as an actor and a content creator, her experience shooting with Sushmita Sen and much more! Barkha Singh started her career in acting in 2015 in an MTV show. She claims that her Instagram and YouTube Content Creation were “by-products” of her acting experience. “Because of the MTV show, my Instagram handle suddenly started, skyrocketing. I was growing 20k-30k every day on Instagram. Before this, I didn’t even know content creation is a “scene” and people can do all this. I think very few people like Ashish in India had started it. Adding to this, Barkha gives us details about her inspiration to start her YouTube channel, “Because my followers started growing, the people managing me at that time, they made me realise like that since I travel so much and anyways shooting travel content, I can just upload it in one place on the YouTube channel and I was very much against starting a YouTube channel thinking I won’t be able do all of it (auditions, shooting, Instagram and YouTube and they were like, shut up and do it. As I started uploading more and more content, many tourists and boards of different countries started reaching out to me to create content on my YouTube channel. After that, I got great views you know so that’s when I decided this was the best way to make my love for travel sustainable.” When asked what she looks for in a new project before signing yes to it, Barkha reveals that other than the standard considerations regarding production and platform, the storyline and character offered to her plays an extremely important role. Barkha has had the opportunity to work alongside Sushmita Sen and claims and claims she had a wonderful experience. While contributing to wildlife and nature are some of her alternate interests, Barkha digs deeper by expressing the challenges one faces in the show industry. “I think, at least for me the most challenging part is showing restraint. A lot of people say it’s very important to select the right project. So, that is most challenging because as an actor you’re tempted to do every project that comes your way . Having the ability to pick and choose your projects is something that I feel is very challenging because every character requires a different dialect and a whole lot of work. I never bring up long hours, travel, staying away or not having weekends as challenges because all of that comes as part and parcel of being an actor. However, I think having to choose between projects and having gauze which one is good for you is most challenging thing according to me.” An eye catcher in this interview is the revelation of some of Barkha’s cherished and note-worthy accomplishments such as being a 12th board exam merit list holder and topping Maharashtra, raising awareness, and educating people for animal welfare, having the courage to make a shift into the web space and maintaining a healthy body lifestyle in terms of meditation, yoga and a fitness regime. Concluding the interview, Barkha also told us about some of her future goals and projects “One project that has already been announced by Jio Studios is The Great Wedding of Munnes which will release later this year. I am very excited about it. The entire look of the character I am playing is very interesting. It is like nothing anyone has ever seen me before in.” Booming with positive energy and quirkiness, Barkha Singh ends the interview with a heart-warming message for her fans- “YOLO. Everyone should really believe in living in the present moment. There is no point in spending time over-thinking. If you want to do something, do it now, don’t waste time procrastinating. If you feel like doing something, trust your gut and go for it!” SEARCH A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma COVER STORIES Inner Joy Trails My Inspiration : A Candid Conversation With The Creative Anushka Kaushik COVER STORIES Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview COVER STORIES Educate, Empower, Excel: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary's Inspirational Overture COVER STORIES Waluscha De Sousa On Being Her ‘True Self’ And Going On The Dream Journey COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah Across Languages, One Voice: Sheena Chohan 1 April 2026 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Shah Mananveer Singh On Making Music That Feels Natural And Real 24 March 2026 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Shah Falak Khan On Acting, Identity, And Letting Her Work Speak For Itself 9 March 2026 COVER STORIES By Shriniwas Kodape Tej Music Vodka: The DJ Turning Youth Culture Into a Moving Dancefloor 30 January 2026 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement
- Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words
Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words By Ananya Patankar Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words 30 June 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement Anshumaan Pushkar’s screen characters may exude intensity and silence, but off-screen, he’s refreshingly open, often goofy, and endlessly curious. In this honest conversation, he reflects on finding his rhythm—from the small-town chaos of Mokama to monologues that moved the nation. “I wasn't the first choice—but I became the right one.” Anshumaan speaks like someone who knows exactly where he came from, what it took to get here, and why the work—not the noise around it—matters. No performance, no myth-making. Just an actor who started from nowhere, reflected from his past, and built a career by paying attention. To craft. To people. To the stillness in between. From a small town in Bihar, Ashumaan knew he was meant for greater things. He expresses that “The urge to express was always there. I wasn’t a quiet kid—I danced, I performed, I mimicked everyone.” There was no road-map, no exposure, no acting school. What’s astonishing is that nothing about his journey was designed for the life he has now. It was all instinct, all self-taught. And somehow, that’s what makes it all work. As a child, Anshumaan was driven by a restless need to express. He would dance at weddings, mimic actors, and even imitate his school teachers just to entertain those around him. “I used to lock myself in my room and copy Hrithik Roshan or Govinda,” he recalls. His mother would watch from the doorway, often laughing, sometimes amused, sometimes surprised—but never dismissive. “She saw it as silly, maybe even strange, but she never stopped me,” he says. Without formal training or a clear path, he built his early discipline alone—practising monologues during lockdowns, experimenting with gestures and voices, rehearsing in private, like it meant everything. And in many ways, it did. That early, obsessive dedication is what carried him to the sets he stands on today. He describes that coming from a small town, the film industry seems like a fantasy world. Anshuman was following the script everyone around him expected—“study, job, settle down”, this did not stop the spark inside him. Conveniently, when the time to choose where to do his MBA came, he picked Mumbai—not for the degree, but for proximity, at the Ekjute Theatre Group . He says, “Cinema was the only reason I chose Mumbai. I wanted to be near the industry, even if I wasn’t in it yet.” With great resilience Anshumaan sprinted towards his dreams, he expresses that “this was the moment I said to myself—enough of waiting on the sidelines. The stage is there. Now you have to be there. Somehow, anyhow.” His first major break came with Jamtara , a project he auditioned for in 2017. “I felt like this was the kind of character I wanted to do. It felt right,” he says. But the process wasn’t immediate—shooting didn’t begin until 2018, and the release took even longer. “There was a one-and-a-half-year wait after we finished shooting. That confusion, that silence—it was real.” During that gap, he held on to one thing: theatre. “Theatre never let me feel useless,” he says. “Even when nothing else was happening, getting recognized on stage, even by ten people, was enough to keep going.” His passion for the stagecraft just grew stronger no matter the hindrances. The storms Ashumaan weathered strengthened not only his resilience, but also his instincts as an actor. He explains “I like to experience the emotion of a character rather than just map it out intellectually.” He doesn’t separate technique from emotion—he blends them. “You mix your own soul into the words written on paper,” he says, “and somewhere in that process, the performance becomes real.” Anshumaan’s effort as an actor is to embody the soul of every character he plays. He reflects on what a director once advised him, “You’re pretending to feel it, but when you actually feel it, there’ll be no difference between you and the character.” That’s the standard he holds himself to now—an internal honesty that can’t be faked, and shouldn’t be. It’s this depth of commitment to performance that often blurs the line between actor and character—so much so that people assume he’s exactly like the roles he plays. He mentions that the audience often pictures him in reference to his characters, broody, serious, and intense, however on the contrary he is the complete opposite. Anshumaan admits that “In reality, I’m fun-loving, adventurous… sometimes even goofy.” He recalls that his work in Moonwalk gave him the chance to do something entirely different. It gave him a space to express his true self. The character was lighter, more playful, and far from what audiences expected of him. “It was a shift,” he says, “but I relied on instinct, leaned into the rhythm of it.” With little prep time, he improvised freely, found humour in the moment, and surprised even himself. “That set taught me you don’t always need control—sometimes, you just need presence.” That ability to stay present—to read a room, adapt, and react without overthinking—comes from a habit he’s had since childhood. “Observation is my biggest tool now,” he says. Whether it was mimicking teachers or studying how someone walked or spoke, he was always absorbing. “Earlier, it was imitation for fun. Now, it’s about understanding emotion. That’s what helps me build truth into a character.” He didn’t have legacy, training, or access—just sharp observation, relentless patience, and a belief that even a boy from Mokama could belong in cinema. Everything he knows, he’s learned by doing: watching actors with reverence, listening to directors like a student, and trusting the rhythm of his own instinct. “I don’t know how it became reality,” he says, thinking back to the boy who once danced in a locked room while his mother smiled at the door. “But I think he’d be proud.” And maybe that’s the most powerful thing about Anshumaan Pushkar—he doesn’t just honour his craft, he honors the quiet, persistent child who had faith in himself, to craft his dreams into reality. - Unraveling The Luxurious Tapestry: A Journey Through The History Of Cashmere
Unraveling The Luxurious Tapestry: A Journey Through The History Of Cashmere By Anushka Sharma Unraveling The Luxurious Tapestry: A Journey Through The History Of Cashmere 27 February 2024 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Nestled high in the Himalayan mountains, there exists a fabric so exquisite, so revered, that it has adorned royalty and captivated fashionistas for centuries. This fabric is none other than cashmere, a material synonymous with luxury, elegance, and unparalleled softness. But what is the story behind this remarkable fiber? Let us embark on a journey through time to uncover the rich history of cashmere. The tale of cashmere goes back to the ancient lands of Kashmir, a region known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. It was here, over a thousand years ago, that the indigenous Kashmiri goats roamed the rugged terrain, their fine undercoat protecting them from the harsh mountain winters. The local artisans discovered the secret hidden within this fleece, and thus, the art of cashmere weaving was born. Intrigued by the remarkable properties of cashmere, merchants from distant lands began to trade for this precious commodity, transporting it along the ancient Silk Road to destinations as far-reaching as Europe and the Middle East. By the 14th century, cashmere had become a coveted luxury, sought after by nobility and aristocracy across the globe. During the Renaissance period, cashmere reached new heights of popularity as the European royalty graced in sumptuous cashmere shawls, often intricately embroidered with elaborate designs. These shawls became symbols of wealth and status, and were considered to be prized possessions which were passed down through generations as cherished heirlooms. The fascination with cashmere continued to flourish into the 19th century, spurred on by the romanticism of the Orientalist movement. European artists and writers depicted the exotic allure of the East, further fueling the demand for all things Kashmiri, including the coveted cashmere shawls. However, as the Industrial Revolution swept across Europe, the production of cashmere underwent a significant transformation. Advancements in technology enabled mass production, making cashmere more accessible to the burgeoning middle class. Yet, despite the increased availability, the allure of authentic, handcrafted Kashmiri cashmere remained unmatched. In the 20th century, cashmere experienced a resurgence in popularity, becoming a staple in high-end fashion houses and designer collections. Celebrities and trendsetters alike coveted the luxurious feel and timeless elegance of cashmere garments, further cementing its status as a symbol of sophistication and refinement. Today, the legacy of cashmere endures, with artisans in Kashmir continuing to uphold centuries-old traditions of craftsmanship and quality. While modern techniques have streamlined production, the essence of true cashmere remains unchanged – a testament to the enduring appeal of this remarkable fiber. Yet, the story of cashmere is not without its challenges. Environmental concerns and ethical considerations surrounding the treatment of cashmere goats have prompted calls for sustainable practices within the industry. As consumers become increasingly conscious of the origins of their garments, there is a growing demand for transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain. Despite these challenges, the allure of cashmere persists, transcending time and trends. Whether draped over the shoulders of royalty or adorning the shelves of luxury boutiques, cashmere continues to captivate and inspire, weaving a timeless tale of luxury, tradition, and enduring beauty. So, the next time you wrap yourself in the soft embrace of a cashmere sweater, take a moment to appreciate the centuries of history and craftsmanship that have gone into creating this truly remarkable fabric.
