- The Eternal Strings Of Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash
The Eternal Strings Of Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash By Shriniwas Kodape The Eternal Strings Of Amaan & Ayaan Ali Bangash 4 October 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement The concert hall is full, yet hushed, as though the audience is holding its collective breath. Two sarods lie across two laps, polished surfaces glowing under the stage lights. Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash sit side by side, their postures mirrored, their eyes meeting for just a fraction of a second. Nothing is said, but everything is understood. Amaan’s fingers strike the first note, bold and deliberate. Ayaan follows, answering with a softer resonance, his strings almost whispering in contrast. In that instant, the music is born not from one instrument, but from two souls in conversation. This is the essence of the Bangash brothers: a dialogue woven in sound, steeped in tradition, but alive with the intimacy of siblinghood. They were born into music. Sons of the legendary Ustad Amjad Ali Khan , the sarod was never a foreign object in their childhood home; it was as common as the dining table, as natural as the morning sun. Their earliest memories are not of playgrounds but of ragas drifting through the air as their father practiced. Where most children are lulled to sleep by lullabies, Amaan and Ayaan were cradled by alaps. Theirs was not simply an education in music; it was an immersion, a way of life. Yet being heirs to such a towering legacy was never easy. “Growing up, people assumed music would be automatic for us,” Amaan recalls. “But the truth is, it demanded discipline, hours of practice, endless corrections, the constant reminder that the sarod isn’t just an instrument, it’s a responsibility.” Ayaan adds more quietly, “It was never enough to imitate. Our father always told us to find our own voice.” And find it they did. On stage, their differences are striking. Amaan’s playing has a force that feels almost impatient; his notes cut through air like a storm breaking. Ayaan, meanwhile, shapes his sound with delicacy, coaxing tenderness from steel strings. Together, the tension between them becomes magic. It is fire and water, provocation and reconciliation, push and pull. At times, they sound like they are arguing; at others, like they are laughing together. The audience is simply invited to witness. But their journey has never been about replication. The Bangash brothers have pushed the sarod into unexpected spaces, collaborating with Western orchestras, jazz ensembles, and global musicians. Their projects blend centuries-old ragas with contemporary arrangements, without ever losing the core of Hindustani classical music. “For us, collaboration is not compromise,” Ayaan explains. “It's a conversation. Every genre has something to say, and we bring our sarods to listen and respond.” Despite their ventures into fusion, the soul of their music remains deeply traditional. They speak of ragas as though they are living beings. “Each raga has its own temperament, its own mood,” Amaan says. “Some demand patience, others erupt quickly. Our job is to reveal them, not control them.” It’s this reverence for the art form that grounds them, even as they innovate. What makes their story human is not just the music, but the bond between them. Offstage, they are brothers in every sense; sometimes clashing, sometimes teasing, always circling back to affection. Their dynamic fuels their art. Amaan admits with a grin, “We argue a lot about tempo, phrasing, everything. But when the performance starts, all that tension turns into energy.” Ayaan nods, “That’s the beauty of playing with family. The disagreements don’t divide you; they deepen the music.” Audiences around the world have felt that depth. Whether in an intimate baithak in Delhi or a grand concert hall in Europe, the Bangash brothers carry the same presence: music that demands surrender. In an era obsessed with speed and spectacle, their performances slow time down. Listeners lean in, pulled into a soundscape where centuries of tradition meet the immediacy of now. And perhaps that is their greatest gift. They are not simply performers; they are bridges between father and future, between East and West, between the sanctity of inheritance and the necessity of reinvention. Their sarods remind us that heritage is not static, but breathing. Each note is proof that memory and modernity can coexist without conflict. The final stroke fades, and silence fills the hall. But it is not an empty silence. It vibrates, alive with resonance, as though the music still lingers, refusing to let go. That is the world of Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash where strings are not just strings, but storytellers, carrying forward a legacy while writing their own. - Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob
Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob By Anurag Sen Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob 25 September 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement The first thing Vivian Dsena tells you is that he never wanted to be an actor. “I am the biggest fluke television industry has ever received,” he laughs, recalling how it all started. A modeling career had placed him in front of cameras, but acting was never the plan. Fate, however, had its own script. One day, while accompanying a friend to an audition, he ended up reading lines himself. That audition landed in the hands of Balaji Telefilms , and before he knew it, he was cast as Vicky Valia. What began as a coincidence quickly became destiny, and the boy who never dreamt of acting became one of television’s most enduring names. Over the years, Vivian has carried many characters on his shoulders, each with its own light and shadow. But he is careful about what he takes home with him. “Even if I carry something from a character, it better be a good part,” he says. For him, every role is both a lesson and a mirror, sometimes teaching what to do, and sometimes what never to repeat. This conscious separation between reel and real has kept him both grounded and versatile. Grounded, in fact, is a word that defines Vivian. He guards his privacy fiercely, even as his fame continues to grow. For him, humility is a constant reminder. “No matter what you achieve, no matter what you become, you are still not even a dot compared to the universe,” he reflects. His journey and experiences have taught him not to take himself too seriously, a wisdom that allows him to move through the highs and lows of the entertainment industry with calm assurance. When asked about inspirations, Vivian doesn’t point to a single towering figure. Instead, his perspective is broad and inclusive. “Inspiration is all around,” he says simply. From the people he meets while traveling to the talents he observes across industries, Vivian believes that every encounter offers a spark. Perhaps that is why he remains adaptable, open to growth, and curious about the worlds beyond his own. Fans often wonder which role left the deepest mark on him. Vivian’s answer is thoughtful. For him, there isn’t just one. Every role, he says, carries something valuable. Some characters gift him qualities worth cherishing, while others act as cautionary tales. Either way, his career has been a classroom, each project another lesson in life and craft. Interestingly, if given a blank canvas to design his dream character, Vivian knows exactly what he would choose. “A vampire and a rock star,” he grins. The thought of him exploring such roles excites his imagination, hinting at an actor who is far from done experimenting. As for Bollywood or OTT? Fans have long speculated about his entry into films or web series. Vivian is honest in his response. “I never had a Bollywood dream,” he admits. Content with his television journey, he feels no pressure to chase a bigger screen. But he leaves the door slightly ajar with a teasing hint about OTT platforms: “Very soon.” If there is one driving force behind Vivian’s career, it is his fans. “It is only the fans,” he emphasizes. Their love, he says, doesn’t burden him with pressure; it motivates him to outdo himself each time. Every project, for him, is an offering to the people who have stood by him unwaveringly. “Whatever I am today is because of my fans,” he declares, certain that his next step will not disappoint them. With a twinkle of mischief, he adds that his fans already have an idea about what is coming next. For young dreamers aspiring to enter the chaotic, glittering world of entertainment, Vivian leaves them with one truth: never give up. The industry is unpredictable, success fleeting, but perseverance is the only way through. His own journey, born from a chance audition, is proof that destiny favors the persistent. From fluke to phenomenon, Vivian Dsena ’s story reads like the kind of script you don’t see coming. An actor who stumbled into the spotlight but stayed because of sheer talent, grit, and an army of fans who refuse to let him fade. In a world where stardom often feels manufactured, Vivian remains refreshingly real, reminding everyone that sometimes the best stories are the ones you never planned to tell. - Unscripted, Unstoppable: The Many Lives Of Christine Gulasatree
Unscripted, Unstoppable: The Many Lives Of Christine Gulasatree By Ananya Patankar Unscripted, Unstoppable: The Many Lives Of Christine Gulasatree 22 August 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement The first thing you notice about Christine Gulasatree isn’t her beauty, though she has the kind of presence that can hold a camera lens still. It’s the energy—the restless spark she carries into a room, alive and uncontainable. It radiates in the way she speaks, in the way she moves, in the way her story keeps unfolding as if one medium could never be enough to contain it. Model. Actress. Singer-songwriter. Each of those titles fits her, but none of them capture her whole. To meet Christine is to understand that she’s less interested in labels than in the art of becoming. She is, above all, a storyteller—one who has learned that expression doesn’t need boundaries, only honesty. “I feel like I’m just a human who loves to do a lot of activities. An enthusiastic human,” she says with an easy laugh, brushing off the weight of a résumé that would intimidate most at 29. That humility disguises more than a decade of persistence, of carving out space in industries where resilience is the only currency. Born and raised in Bangkok, Christine grew up at the intersection of cultures—Thai, Chinese, and German—where expression was encouraged, and curiosity was never a fault. By fifteen, she had stepped into the whirlwind of modeling, chasing both ambition and the thrill of doing what few around her dared. “I didn’t know much about the industry, only that it looked cool and exciting,” she remembers. What followed was a baptism by fire. The fashion world was sharp, quick, and unforgiving. Christine stayed anyway. “Maybe I just wanted to prove people wrong,” she admits. “But then I realized it wasn’t about them—it was about me. About building the life I wanted.” Her look—delicate yet commanding—made her a fixture on Bangkok’s runways and in campaigns. Modeling gave her a stage, but not a voice. That hunger for more creative avenues eventually led her elsewhere. By 2018, Christine was no longer just striding under spotlights but standing in front of film cameras, playing her first role in The Judgement , a Thai drama. The shift was revelatory. “Acting was different from modeling. With acting, you can inhabit emotions that aren’t yours. You can tell stories that cut deeper than appearances. I loved that.” One role led to another— Wolf (2019), Pattaya Heat (2024)—each step sharpening her craft. But it was Netflix’s Reverse 4 You , a fantasy-romance released in 2024, that altered the trajectory of her career. Christine had her first leading role, and with it, a younger, more devoted audience. “When I became an actress two years ago, I suddenly had young fans,” she recalls, her voice softening. “And I realized I didn’t just want to entertain. I wanted to be real. I wanted to be a role model.” That desire to connect—to inspire—pushed her into music. For Christine, songwriting became something rawer than scripts or runways, a place to pour the unfiltered pieces of herself. “Music feels like my most honest form of expression,” she explains. “Modeling and acting are beautiful, but they’re interpretations of something outside me. Music is just me.” To her, there’s no divide between these worlds. They’re simply different branches of the same restless spirit, each one allowing her to step into a new version of herself. Her inspirations, she says, were there all along—in films she watched as a child, in music that echoed through her home, even in toys that carried stories of their own. “Those things made me want to create something of my own one day,” she smiles. That day, it seems, has arrived. Now, whether she’s walking a runway, embodying a character, or strumming out melodies, Christine’s compass is the same: authenticity. She wants to remind others—especially young women—that identity is not fixed, and the courage to evolve is its own art form. “I’m still learning, still growing,” she says, unafraid of the uncertainty. “But if I can show people, especially young girls, that it’s okay to take your own path—no matter how many times it changes—then that’s enough.” For Christine Gulasatree, the future isn’t about narrowing down to one label. It’s about claiming them all, without apology. A model who dares to act. An actress who dares to sing. A storyteller who refuses to stay in one lane. A restless, luminous spirit who keeps proving that passion, when paired with courage, always finds its voice. - Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words
Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words By Ananya Patankar Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words 30 June 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement Anshumaan Pushkar’s screen characters may exude intensity and silence, but off-screen, he’s refreshingly open, often goofy, and endlessly curious. In this honest conversation, he reflects on finding his rhythm—from the small-town chaos of Mokama to monologues that moved the nation. “I wasn't the first choice—but I became the right one.” Anshumaan speaks like someone who knows exactly where he came from, what it took to get here, and why the work—not the noise around it—matters. No performance, no myth-making. Just an actor who started from nowhere, reflected from his past, and built a career by paying attention. To craft. To people. To the stillness in between. From a small town in Bihar, Ashumaan knew he was meant for greater things. He expresses that “The urge to express was always there. I wasn’t a quiet kid—I danced, I performed, I mimicked everyone.” There was no road-map, no exposure, no acting school. What’s astonishing is that nothing about his journey was designed for the life he has now. It was all instinct, all self-taught. And somehow, that’s what makes it all work. As a child, Anshumaan was driven by a restless need to express. He would dance at weddings, mimic actors, and even imitate his school teachers just to entertain those around him. “I used to lock myself in my room and copy Hrithik Roshan or Govinda,” he recalls. His mother would watch from the doorway, often laughing, sometimes amused, sometimes surprised—but never dismissive. “She saw it as silly, maybe even strange, but she never stopped me,” he says. Without formal training or a clear path, he built his early discipline alone—practising monologues during lockdowns, experimenting with gestures and voices, rehearsing in private, like it meant everything. And in many ways, it did. That early, obsessive dedication is what carried him to the sets he stands on today. He describes that coming from a small town, the film industry seems like a fantasy world. Anshuman was following the script everyone around him expected—“study, job, settle down”, this did not stop the spark inside him. Conveniently, when the time to choose where to do his MBA came, he picked Mumbai—not for the degree, but for proximity, at the Ekjute Theatre Group . He says, “Cinema was the only reason I chose Mumbai. I wanted to be near the industry, even if I wasn’t in it yet.” With great resilience Anshumaan sprinted towards his dreams, he expresses that “this was the moment I said to myself—enough of waiting on the sidelines. The stage is there. Now you have to be there. Somehow, anyhow.” His first major break came with Jamtara , a project he auditioned for in 2017. “I felt like this was the kind of character I wanted to do. It felt right,” he says. But the process wasn’t immediate—shooting didn’t begin until 2018, and the release took even longer. “There was a one-and-a-half-year wait after we finished shooting. That confusion, that silence—it was real.” During that gap, he held on to one thing: theatre. “Theatre never let me feel useless,” he says. “Even when nothing else was happening, getting recognized on stage, even by ten people, was enough to keep going.” His passion for the stagecraft just grew stronger no matter the hindrances. The storms Ashumaan weathered strengthened not only his resilience, but also his instincts as an actor. He explains “I like to experience the emotion of a character rather than just map it out intellectually.” He doesn’t separate technique from emotion—he blends them. “You mix your own soul into the words written on paper,” he says, “and somewhere in that process, the performance becomes real.” Anshumaan’s effort as an actor is to embody the soul of every character he plays. He reflects on what a director once advised him, “You’re pretending to feel it, but when you actually feel it, there’ll be no difference between you and the character.” That’s the standard he holds himself to now—an internal honesty that can’t be faked, and shouldn’t be. It’s this depth of commitment to performance that often blurs the line between actor and character—so much so that people assume he’s exactly like the roles he plays. He mentions that the audience often pictures him in reference to his characters, broody, serious, and intense, however on the contrary he is the complete opposite. Anshumaan admits that “In reality, I’m fun-loving, adventurous… sometimes even goofy.” He recalls that his work in Moonwalk gave him the chance to do something entirely different. It gave him a space to express his true self. The character was lighter, more playful, and far from what audiences expected of him. “It was a shift,” he says, “but I relied on instinct, leaned into the rhythm of it.” With little prep time, he improvised freely, found humour in the moment, and surprised even himself. “That set taught me you don’t always need control—sometimes, you just need presence.” That ability to stay present—to read a room, adapt, and react without overthinking—comes from a habit he’s had since childhood. “Observation is my biggest tool now,” he says. Whether it was mimicking teachers or studying how someone walked or spoke, he was always absorbing. “Earlier, it was imitation for fun. Now, it’s about understanding emotion. That’s what helps me build truth into a character.” He didn’t have legacy, training, or access—just sharp observation, relentless patience, and a belief that even a boy from Mokama could belong in cinema. Everything he knows, he’s learned by doing: watching actors with reverence, listening to directors like a student, and trusting the rhythm of his own instinct. “I don’t know how it became reality,” he says, thinking back to the boy who once danced in a locked room while his mother smiled at the door. “But I think he’d be proud.” And maybe that’s the most powerful thing about Anshumaan Pushkar—he doesn’t just honour his craft, he honors the quiet, persistent child who had faith in himself, to craft his dreams into reality. - K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe
K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe by Yashi Srivastava K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe 10 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement K-pop is more than a music genre in 2022. It is a wave, a trend, a bold choice of fashion coupled with luxury and serving looks! Korean pop music has its roots fixed in the 90s, but after the rise of artists like PSY and BTS, K-pop has taken over the global wardrobe, not just with its music but also fashion, style, and charisma. Why shouldn’t it? After all, K-pop idols are some of the most beautiful faces that you would come across. It is thus, not surprising to know that most of them are headlining several luxury fashion shows across the world and many have become the face of brands like Celine, Dior, Milan, Gucci, and more. So, how is K-pop influencing the wardrobe of the entire fashion world? We shall discuss the same in this article. The rise of K-pop fashion As mentioned already, it all began with during the early 90s when Seo Taiji and Boys created a concoction of South Korean tradition with western instruments and highlighted the same with stunning choreography! The world was in awe and since then, there's been no looking back for the music genre. With time, K-pop fashion promoted fashion accessories like bucket hats, loose fitting T-shirts and jeans, flannels, and more. By the late 90s, K-pop music soared since the term ‘idol’ was coined which led the musicians to become more than performers - they became celebrities and the global (wardrobe) domination of K-pop thus began. Currently, K-pop fashion dabbles between streetwear and sportswear off-stage and everything that’s luxury, starting from Gucci, Versace, Dior, Cartier, Celine, etc. The current popularity of K-pop fashion It is safe to consider K-pop fashion as one of the biggest trends of 2022. From baggy clothes to skirts, to anoraks, from Girls Generation being invited to 2012 Mulberry show in London to BTS attending the 2018 Billboard Awards in complete Gucci outfits - Korean pop culture fashion has certainly come a long way! It is not wrong to say that the digital media has played a prominent role in taking the K-pop popularity to a whole new level, not only in East- Asia and South-Asia but also the West. However, it is not just K-pop idols that have influenced the world wardrobe and have been a part of the global fashion world. Korean fashion brands such as Gentle Monster and Minju Kim are making waves across the world with their fresh styles and K-pop inclined clothing. It is thus, not uncommon for top fashion brands to seek out idols from K-pop groups like Blackpink, Twice, Aespa, Monsta X, TxT, Red Velvet, and more to promote their brand via advertisements and fashion shows. Why shouldn’t they? After all, K-pop idols are known for their extravagant sense of fashion loaded with high-end accessories and vibrant colors, both on hair and their outfits! However, their fashion isn’t only limited to the stage. From airport looks to casual outings, K-media has its eyes on them and most idols do not disappoint! And let’s not forget the influence they have on some of the most popular fashion brands, like Louis Vuitton, who moved an entire fashion show to Seoul, South Korea, only for the legends known as BTS to promote the brand. In fact, the collection was sold out within a few minutes of the event. BTS’ airport look, where they were dressed in LV clothes from top to bottom, also sold out within a few hours after photos were released online. While BTS have their own contribution in bringing the world’s attention to K-pop culture, it is the aestheri and eye-catching visuals of K-pop idols from several groups that keeps the genre’s popularity growing. EXO Kai for Gucci and Bobbi Brown, IU for Gucci, Red Velvet Irene for Prada, Blackpink’s Jisoo for Cartier and Dior, Aespa for Givenchy, EXO Sehun for Dior, are some of the popular K-pop names who are faces or brand ambassadors of some high-end luxury brands. - Kaveri Priyam On Making Her Childhood Dream Come True
Kaveri Priyam On Making Her Childhood Dream Come True by Anushka Sharma Kaveri Priyam On Making Her Childhood Dream Come True 13 March 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement In a candid interview, Kaveri Priyam tells us that she had absolutely no idea about how to start working in the industry! All she was clear about was getting herself enrolled in an acting institute and continuing her theatres. Afterwards, she came to know about the auditions happening in Aram nagar and without the knowledge of the do’s and don’ts, she simply started giving them! Slowly, she started learning the various things about the industry and as it was a long process, she had the opportunity of experiencing the ups and downs, the rights and wrongs and helping herself when needed which further helped her to sustain in the industry. Kaveri says that it’s all those initial years which are helping her to support herself till date. She tells us that her experience was very good apart from the times when casting directors asked for money or when they tell you that you are not the appropriate shape or size or colour for this industry. She said that for some time she even took these comments on herself and tried to work in accordance with them but eventually she realised what was good for her and what was not. Kaveri says, “Working in the industry has always been very fun. Touchwood, I have been very lucky because I got the opportunity to work with very lovely people who never made me feel that I was a newcomer in the beginning.” As a child, she always wanted to become an actor. She says she was a born drama queen and was always a part of extracurricular activities. She says she has been lucky to have a good support system; good teachers who were very proactive and her mom, who got her enrolled in various classes. Straight after school, cycling daily to her Kathak classes was extremely hectic but she really enjoyed the part where she used to be on the stage. She used to act, direct, write stories and enact them with friends which unknowingly turned out to be street plays and attract a lot of crowd on the spot. She says that as a child you would think that you are just doing all this for your playtime fun but gradually she realised that she really liked doing all of it by heart. That’s when she decided to become an actor. Despite having a studious family and mindset she realised she didn’t really enjoy it all, and acting was actually what she truly wanted to do. The day she got rejected from one of the exams was her turning point. Thus, she started giving auditions, doing theatres in Delhi and finally she got selected for a show and came to Mumbai. The show didn’t work out well but it brought her to the place where she belonged! Talking about her upcoming projects she tells us, “I am super excited for my upcoming show which is going to air on Sony Sab very soon. The name is ‘Dil diyan Gallan’ and as the name suggests, it’s Punjab based story. So I am looking forward to it, playing a new character, getting into someone else’s shoes. I am super excited for it and also for my new music video which is going to be released soon.” Kaveri speaks about what she loves the most about acting and she said, “I love the way it takes you to different places, makes you meet a lot of different people and the way it helps you grow as a person and an artist. When you work with amazing people from different walks of life, you get to know more about life in general, about different people who exist in the society and with each character you get to be in someone else’s shoes. I believe an actor is someone who can live a thousand lives, which is something really attractive and I literally live to do this. I live to live different characters, different lives, visit new places, locations and meet new people and work with amazing directors and producers. So yes, that is what I feel life is, it should be exciting every day.” We asked her where does she see herself in the next 5 years in this ever-changing entertainment industry and she answered, “I know that this industry is ever-changing and I think nothing is permanent and change is the essence of life so I do not fear change, all I expect from myself is that I adapt to the change, adjust and keep entertaining people. In the coming 5 years I see myself as someone who knows all the tricks and trades of my field and then maybe later I can decide on what sort of work I want to do in the industry. I want to progress, that’s for sure.” Apart from being the character, she thinks, to look like the character is a challenging job. If the character is plumpy, extremely thin or ranky, it is something which takes a toll on your health because there is a limited amount of time in which an actor has to look a certain way and if not followed under proper guidance, it might hamper your health. She says that it’s not particularly tough but extremely challenging, and especially for her as she is a big foodie. But, as of now she hasn’t got the chance to completely transform herself and she does look forward to doing such roles in the future. Kaveri speaks candidly about the pressure in her work and what she does to tackle it, to which she simply said that she, personally, never really had to deal with any such thing. “If you enjoy doing something and can feel that it is meant for you then, that’s it. There is pressure in every other sector and I think that it is a part of work and it should be taken lightly. There is this constant thought that should be there in your mind that you are getting to do what you always wanted to, and so, it is a blessing. There are certain schedules you have to adjust yourself in but that is the fun and challenging part of it which makes it exciting.” About her journey and the obstacles, she tells us that, “Wherever I went to take acting classes, I was always told that I am gifted, which I didn’t understand at that time, but, slowly I got to know that some things are actually there within me but they need to be polished. To convert the talent into skills, the theatres and acting classes helped a lot. Talking about the journey, initially it was tough as you are exploring new things but once you cross that phase, get a break, get appreciated, gain the confidence then things become a little easier. Although competition is there, you have to be determined, focused, keep working on your craft and that is how one succeeds in any field. It has not exactly been a roller coaster ride but, I had my own challenges which I overcame. One of the challenges was that I was overweight for this industry but I decided I wanted to look good on camera and I made that transformation for my first show, from being a very plumpy to a very thin and lean girl. I won't call it an obstacle, but just a part of the job.” For our readers who may not be as familiar with her line of work, she says, “ Be it any industry, there are all sorts of people so, telling someone that this or that industry is not good, is baseless. Meeting, approaching and having the right circle of people around you is very important to achieve anything in life because there has got to be someone who shows you the path and the right direction. Maybe you will find it on your own or someone from your near and dear ones will guide you, but that direction is very important otherwise you might just be all over the place.” Be it any industry, move forward, stay focused, go in the right direction and make sure you meet the right people. - Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn
Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The September sun had barely risen over Florence when whispers began to ripple through the industry: Francesca Bellettini would be the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Gucci . It felt less like an announcement and more like the unveiling of a destiny, a return written years ago but revealed only now. Gucci, a house that has always blurred the line between heritage and revolution, had found its new storyteller, a woman whose path was carved not through sketches and fabrics, but through strategy, vision, and the quiet assurance of someone who knows how to turn possibility into permanence. Her story does not begin with fashion’s glittering runways but in London’s financial heart, where young Bellettini pored over numbers, forecasts, and balance sheets. It was a world of hard lines and clear logic, yet within it she discovered her own artistry: the ability to read hidden rhythms in the data, to sense opportunity where others saw risk. That discipline would later become her secret strength in an industry that thrives on the tension between dreams and reality. From Prada to Helmut Lang, her path wound steadily into the world of luxury, and in 2003 she arrived at Gucci, a young strategist entrusted with shaping merchandising and long-term vision. The arc of her career is almost cinematic. From Gucci to Bottega Veneta, and then to Saint Laurent, where she orchestrated one of the most remarkable transformations in modern fashion, Bellettini proved that leadership is not about controlling creativity but about framing it so it shines brighter. At Saint Laurent , revenues soared, yet the house never lost its edge, proof of her ability to nurture artistry while anchoring it in business clarity. There was nothing flamboyant about her leadership style. Instead, colleagues described her as precise, observant, and deeply human. She was the kind of leader who listened intently, who allowed creative visionaries the space to dream, while building frameworks that ensured those dreams could live beyond the runway. At Saint Laurent, this delicate alchemy between imagination and execution became her signature, and it is this same touch that now makes her return to Gucci feel almost poetic. Gucci is more than a fashion brand; it is a cultural mirror, reflecting desires, rebellions, and ideals of every era it passes through. From Tom Ford’s provocative sensuality to Alessandro Michele’s kaleidoscopic maximalism, Gucci has never stood still. Each reinvention became not just a collection but a zeitgeist, a movement. Yet in 2025, with consumers hungering for authenticity, sustainability, and meaning beyond logos, Gucci must find its new rhythm. Bellettini steps into this moment not as a disruptor crashing through the door, but as a custodian with vision, someone who knows how to protect legacy while charting new frontiers. Her words upon stepping into the role carried both reverence and ambition: an honor to guide one of the world’s most iconic houses, excitement to collaborate with Kering CEO Luca de Meo, and admiration for Demna’s fearless creativity. The balance of humility and resolve in her voice reflects a philosophy she has carried throughout her career that leadership is not domination but stewardship, a responsibility to nurture what already exists while daring to create what does not. This partnership with Demna is one the industry watches with intrigue. His avant-garde boldness has redefined Balenciaga, and now, under Bellettini’s guidance, his daring will find a new canvas at Gucci. The dialogue between his creativity and her clarity has the potential to redraw the contours of luxury. It is not about taming vision but grounding it, ensuring it resonates with a global audience while remaining undeniably Gucci. What makes this chapter compelling is that Bellettini does not see luxury as mere commerce. For her, it is culture, intimacy, and resonance. It is the way a bag becomes an heirloom, the way a show lingers in memory long after the lights dim. Her leadership suggests Gucci’s future will not simply be measured in profit margins but in its ability to spark wonder, to create belonging, and to shape moments that feel timeless. The appointment is both the culmination and beginning. A woman who once walked the corridors of Gucci as a strategist now returns as its leader, carrying decades of wisdom and a reputation forged in resilience. Gucci’s story has always been about transformation, about daring to reinvent itself while never losing sight of its soul. Under Francesca Bellettini, that story enters a new act, one that promises elegance without complacency, daring without dissonance. The lights are on, the stage is set, and history waits to be written. Gucci has chosen its narrator, and the world is ready to listen. - Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing
SOCIETY by Rupashree Ravi Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing 4 August 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Gender equality in the workplace is still a pipe dream for many. Education, discrimination, societal norms, and other factors affect women’s occupational choices and their pay. It is known that women are paid significantly lesser than men for the same work they do, whether it is paid domestic labour or a desk job. This is despite the fact that over the last several decades, millions of women have joined the workforce and have also made huge gains in their educational attainment. All this means that the gender pay gap is real. It also hurts women by suppressing their earnings and making it harder for them to keep a balance between work and family. The gender pay gap is essentially the average difference between the remuneration received by working men and women. But it is more nuanced as the pay gaps can be unadjusted or adjusted. The former is much starker as it simply differentiates between the mean and median wages of the two genders, while the latter takes into account differences in factors such as occupation, education, and job experience. Women are often blamed for not earning more “Worldwide, women only make 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. This results in a lifetime of income inequality between men and women and more women retiring into poverty.” This kind of inequality can be seen in all countries and across all sectors because women’s work is undervalued and they also tend to be concentrated in different jobs than men. Even though the nature of the work may require equal or more effort and skills, it is still valued and remunerated less. The gap widens for women of colour, immigrant women, and mothers, which pushes them into casual and part-time work in the informal economy. This kind of phenomenon is common and much larger in developing countries than in developed countries. It is alarming to know that in a country like India, the reasons for the pay gap are much more complicated. Girl students are forced to drop out of school and are married off, and even if they are educated, many women are not allowed to work by their families. Women who join the workforce often need to take extended leaves for maternity and child care, and even the healthcare of other family members. To top it all, they also take care of household duties like cooking and cleaning. All these factors lead to women’s earnings falling behind men’s over time. Women are forced to micro-manage at their workplace and home We have to understand why the gender wage gap exists and how we can tackle it, without shifting the blame to women for not earning more. Our economy itself provides unequal opportunities for women at every point of their education, training, and career choices. As a result, women tend to choose jobs that pay less, according to a study. They disproportionately enter lower-paid, and female-dominated occupations. However, this decision is shaped by discrimination, societal norms, and other forces beyond their control. Employers also choose to prefer men over women for the same positions and roles due to factors such as motherhood penalties. “Equal pay for work of equal value” The bottom line, however, is that socio-economic disparity and patriarchal power structures expose women to more unpaid care work and land the weight of multi-dimensional work, including primary caretaking on them. Factors like non-inclusivity and sexual harassment in the workplace further pressurise them to opt out of their career prospects. Studies reveal that it will 195 years to overcome the gender pay gap in India This is why we need to expand paid family and medical leave and improve the overall work-life balance. Paid paternity leaves for men are also a great start so that they can help at home as well and lift the burden from women. Implementation of stricter laws like the Equal Pay Act at the state and national levels will help to reduce the widening pay gap. Lastly, gender-sensitive employment practices and measures to reduce sexual harassment in the workplace are the need of the hour all across the world. #Feminism #GenderPayGap #Representation #Patriarchy #WorkplaceInclusivity #GenderSensitisation SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
