  • Changes in Fashion

Changes in Fashion by Neha Pande Changes in Fashion 27 July 2020 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In the start of the 90’s or before no one would have thought that black women or brown could be on the cover of a magazine like Vogue or a plus size woman would be a leading role model or on the cover of 100’s of billboard but in today’s world it is quite common to have a beautiful black lady gracing the cover of huge magazines or a plus size woman on the billboards of Times Square. When someone like Beverly Johnson, the first Black model to come out on the cover of Vogue in the 1970’s, made it, it was a big deal for everyone. When Ashley Graham, the first plus size model, came on the cover of Vogue in 2015, it took the industry by storm. From then till now the fashion industry has been evolving and changing for the better, it has started to be more inclusive of all, be it different races, sizes, genders or people with skin disorders. The barriers of Fashion have been changing since the humans learnt what Fashion is. In Greece and Rome, plus sized women were termed as goddesses in the 18th Century which later changed to slim and fit women termed as gorgeous. From the corseted waists and large ball gowns of the European Empire to the loose and free flowing bohemian fashion of the 1960’s, all were significant landmarks in the fashion Industry. The 1940’s was the era when World War II was at its peak, men were at the War Zone while women were at work. This era was the era of women wearing boxer pants with buttoned up shirts and padded shoulder blazers. This fashion statement was because women wanted to get into the working arena and they wore more male oriented clothes to show it. The 1950’s ended the world war with all men back into the workforce and women being oppressed back into housework. The fashion of the era was ultra-feminine with a lot of fit and flare which was the brainchild of Christian Dior who introduced fit and flare, slim shoulders unlike the 1940’s, narrow waist and full skirt which was inspired by the Victorian era. The 1960’s was a combined era of Hippie and Bohemian fashion with Spacy and futuristic fashion going neck to neck. The 1960’s was the start of the Northern Cali Hippie Movement with freedom to the extreme. This era had narcotics, drugs, alcohol and prostitution at its peak and it showed in their fashion with free-flowing dresses and bright colours. This era also gave birth to the famous singer and fashion icon Bob Marley. The 1970’s was the era of futuristic fashion which was due to NASA and its moon launch. This era introduced latex to the fashion industry and the fashion here was tight latex skirts or fitted bodycons with a futuristic vibe. It was also the era of Rock and Roll which gave birth to famous bands like Sex Pistols, The Ramous and the Clash and stars like Jimmy Hendrix. This era was also the Disco era which had vibrant and glittery colours contrasting to the Dark colours of the Rock and Roll. The 1980’s was the era of female empowerment and women getting into the workforce, the change in workforce demographics was huge as it showed the significant change and increase of women into various male dominated work fields. The working women of the era wore well fitted pants or pencil skirts with blazers and shirts. This era also gave birth to acid washed and ripped denim. The 1990’s was the era of sports wear like track pants, tank tops, platform sneakers and sporty tops which were rocked by famous people like Sporty Spice of the Spice Girls and Britney Spears. The 2000’s or our era is the era of amalgamation of all fashion from fit and flare of the 50’s to the funky fashion of the 70’s we have it all. We also are creating our own fashion like using matte colours in fashion with no makeup drives. Fashion is a reflection of society, it is not just merely looking pretty, it is much more than that. It is our history and our reflection as beings. From long leaves used as clothing by our early ancestors to the matte fashion of today it is all a part of our history and life. #FashionVogueWomenEraIndustrySkirtIcon SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution 19 October 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

Although gift-giving might not be the only way to express your affection towards somebody, it surely is a huge aspect. And while affection can be showered through various other means, gifting adds on that extra sparkle. It is proof of how well you know the other person or simply how good of a listener you are. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, instead of flocking to the internet hurriedly to search “Gifts for Valentine’s Day”, simply take our advice and gift your partner something that tokenizes their essence to you. For Him If you are someone who is tired of their male partners using the same scent for ages or if you’re even just someone who has typed “Gift ideas for men on Valentine’s Day’, then a fragrance that compliments their personality might be an oldie but a goldie. Here are our top 5 suggestions in such a scenario: Davidoff Cool Water As cool, coral and aquatic as it sounds, this fragrance truly stands for its aquatic appeal, with top notes enveloping you in an ocean-like aura, especially for those who love the serenity of surfing the tides. Base notes composed of Cardamom, Patchouli and Musk Melon preserve the essence of both the day and the night. Hugo Boss Energise A fragrance that combines Mint, Pink Pepper, Pineapple Leaf and Lemon for its top notes and makes it work wonderfully well together. It has Kumquat, Mandarin and Juniper forming its heart notes, giving it the proper distinctive palette. It is crafted for the spirit of masculinity that maintains calm and brings about a decisive mark. The undertones give off a balance of Leather, Vanilla and Teak Wood that adds to the richness of the entire concoction. Ora d’oro Perfume After Party As an ode to all those memorable and beautiful moments shared with your special someone, this scent bottles up all the nostalgia and chaos of some late-night shenanigans and presents it on a fragrant platter. It features top notes that are fresh, clean and sensual at the same time to reveal the essence of someone who determines their own story. The base is made from a fresh citrus accord, fused with ambery Cedar notes to give it a flawless blend. Ramson’s Once More It is an impeccable blend of Musk and Vanilla with affluent florals like Jasmine, Mimosa rose and Freesia that give it the pristine balance of soft masculinity. It is sweet and fruity with notes of Amber, Bergamot and Orange to serve you a leathery and woodsy feel. It creates a clashing palette that works wonderfully well in its favour. Now remember, gift-giving is a very intimate and vulnerable activity. It not only shows your affection but also the attention you hold towards the other person. Though material things might still be lower on the list, they are still something that adds a personalised touch to your celebration. And what better way to extend the very celebration than to carry a token of your partner’s appreciation in the form of rich scents to remember them by? • Thiptara At The Peninsula Bangkok: Thai Soul By The River

By Shriniwas Kodape Thiptara At The Peninsula Bangkok: Thai Soul By The River 28 July 2025 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The river had secrets that night. It moved like a living thing—dark, slow, full of stories older than the skyline across it. A longtail boat parted the water gently as it brought me across, the city flickering behind like a dream I hadn’t quite finished. The Peninsula glowed on the far side, all grace and restraint, but I wasn’t headed for its marble hallways. I was following the scent of lemongrass through a garden lit by flame. Thiptara didn’t shout. It waited. You walked a stone path beneath banyan trees that might’ve been here when Ayutthaya was still a capital. The hum of insects, the low sound of the water hitting wood, and then—just past a carved gate—a table set in a private sala, the Chao Phraya unfolding just beyond your reach. It felt like entering someone’s home. Not just any home, but one that remembered you. A woman in a dark green silk blouse greeted me with the kind of smile that made you feel like you’d made a good decision. No script, no fanfare. Just water poured into a crystal glass and a small plate of fresh betel leaves, folded like an offering, filled with slivers of dried shrimp, peanuts, lime. Sweet. Salty. Sharp. Like the first sentence that dares you to keep reading. The sky burned low over the river. Gold turned to indigo. Lanterns blinked to life in the trees. And then the food began to arrive—not rushed, not arranged for effect, but paced like a conversation. A warm pomelo salad, tossed tableside. The prawns are still warm from the grill, the chili heat gentle but steady. The kind of dish that makes you pause and reach for a cold Singha, just to let your tongue catch up. The menu read like a travelogue. Grilled river prawns in red curry. A smoky eggplant dip, laced with minced pork and coriander. Chicken wrapped in pandan leaves—tender, scented like some memory you couldn’t place. There was a tom yum, too. Not the kind you see in neon-lit tourist spots, but the real thing. The broth was so clear it shimmered. Galangal and lime leaf in harmony. Chili enough to wake you, but not offend you. It reminded me of something my grandmother once said: “The best food speaks in low tones. You lean in to listen.” There was nothing showy about Thiptara. No foam, no dry ice, no fusion masquerading as innovation. Just technique and memory. Tradition without apology. It was food cooked by hands that understood time—how long to steep the broth, how to slice mango just ripe enough for the sticky rice finale. And when the coconut cream hit that still-warm rice, I swear, the air went still for a moment. The river kept talking. A barge groaned upstream. Somewhere behind me, the Peninsula’s jazz trio had started to play, faint but soulful. A breeze came off the water, carrying night with it. No one rushed me. No waiter hovered. My empty plates vanished the way old troubles sometimes do—quietly, respectfully. I stayed long past the point I needed to, because Thiptara didn’t ask me to leave. It asked me to feel something. You don’t write reviews about a place like this. You write letters. Or elegies. Or short stories that begin with a boat crossing the river and end with a plate of mango and sticky rice under a sky full of stars. Thiptara is the kind of place you carry with you. Not just because the food was unforgettable—but because, for one night, you were reminded of what hospitality can be when it isn’t trying to sell you anything. Not a meal. A memory. Not a restaurant. A return. And if Bangkok ever feels too loud, too fast, too much—remember this: the river still waits. And so does Thiptara. • Anger and it’s ill effects

Anger and it’s ill effects by Aparajita Jaiswal Anger and it’s ill effects 1 June 2021 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Anger, Setting You and Your Health at War. An insight into the effects of poorly managed anger upon mental and physical health. Anger, warmth, rage, aggression, something every human is acquainted with. People usually have many tales to narrate, either about themselves or about situations that went worse in a fit of anger. Anger is one of the emotions among the ocean of emotions that every human being deals with every single day. The personality of a person depends upon how he responds to his emotions, the way in which anger is managed to play a major part role. Like everything else in the world, anger has both the positives and the negatives, YET THE ILL EFFECTS OF ANGER ARE MORE EVIDENTLY KNOWN AND SEEN. If you are someone prone to losing temper, here’s why you need to stay calm. Anger, to a limited extent, is good and proves to be beneficial. It helps people think rationally and is a source of motivation for some of the people out there. The general fact is, anger can be good for you if addressed quickly and expressed in a healthy way. In reality, more often than not, anger proves to be hazardous and the ill effects of anger weigh a lot more than its positive effects. Anger does not just affect you but adversely affects the people around you as well. The unhealthy episodes of anger, when held for considerably longer periods, usually ends up as an explosion in rage and can wreak havoc on your body. Anger is a powerful emotion and thus has destructive effects when not handled appropriately. The underlying cause of such havoc lies in the fact that anger triggers the body’s “fight or flight” hormone, i.e., adrenal glands flood the blood with stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. The brain consequently shunts blood away from the gut and towards the muscles as preparation for physical exertion. Thus, the heart rate, blood pressure and respiration increase. Skin perspires and body temperature also increases. This creates an image of a person in a fit of rage. An angry person is so rightly animated in cartoons or comics as someone who is grinding teeth, tightening arms with closed fists and fire used symbolizes the rise of temperature within and around the individual. The constant flow of stress hormones and the metabolic changes associated with seven major health issues that arise out of uncontrolled anger that one needs to know: Frequent outbursts put your heart at great risk: In words of Chris Aiken, MD, an instructor in clinical psychiatry at the wake Forest University School of Medicine and director of the Mood Treatment Center in Winston Salem, “In the two hours after an angry outburst, the chance of having a heart attack doubles.” “Repressed anger – where you express it indirectly or go to great lengths to control it, is associated with heart disease” Dr Aiken adds. Increases the stroke risk: If you’re prone to outburst, beware. A study suggests that the risk of a stroke from a blood clot to the brain or bleeding within the brain during the two hours after an outburst. Furthermore, the arteries of the brain are prone to six times higher risk of such bleeding. Weakens the immune system: The state of mind undoubtedly has a behavioral impact. If you are mad all the time, there is an obvious chance that you feel sick always. A fit of anger causes a dip in levels of the antibodies. Anxiety: Anxiety and anger go hand in hand. In a study carried out in 2021, researchers found that anger can exacerbate symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder characterized by an excessive and uncontrolled worry affecting an individual’s daily life. Depression: Anger in its elevated state, becomes a cause of self-destruction and adversely affects your loved ones as well and such destruction obviously becomes a cause of depression. Numerous studies have linked depression with aggression and angry outbursts. Effects on the lungs: Even if you aren’t a smoker, you can still hurt your lungs if you’re perpetually angry and a hostile person. Anger can shorten your life span: Scary, isn’t it? The fact that happy people live longer is really true. With anger, comes stress and stress is in every way harmful. The key to save yourself from such huge havoc and safeguard your health is to learn to appropriately express anger. The key to begin is to try and start calming yourself down. In case you find a difficult to deal with negative emotions or expressing anger, therapy and counseling will always help. Assertive communication, effective problem solving, using humor, or restricting your thoughts to get away from that black-and-white, all-or-nothing thinking are good ways to get over anger. Getting yourself involved in the activities that interest you so much and make you happy proves to be an effective measure as well. • How Do Some People Not Get Acne No Matter What

How Do Some People Not Get Acne No Matter What By Anushka Sharma How Do Some People Not Get Acne No Matter What 15 April 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Hey there! Let's dive into the intriguing world of acne and why some folks seem to dodge it altogether. Acne is like that unwelcome guest who shows up uninvited, but while most people deal with it at some point, others breeze through life with clear skin. What's their secret? Let's find out! Blame It on the Genes: Yep, it's all in the genes! If your parents or close family members battled acne, chances are it might come knocking on your door too. But it's not just about inheriting a single "acne gene." Your genetic makeup decides how sensitive your skin is to hormones and environmental stuff, and how good it is at fighting off acne-causing germs. Hormones, Hormones, Hormones: Now, let's talk about those pesky hormones. During puberty, your body goes into overdrive with hormones like testosterone (yep, even girls have it!). These hormones love to crank up oil production in your skin, leading to clogged pores and zits. Teens often get pimples in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), while adults, especially ladies, might see them pop up around the cheeks and jawline. Sweat and Junk Food: Picture this: you're smashing it at the gym, but then, bam! Acne decides to crash the party. Sweat mixed with tight workout gear can create a cozy environment for acne-causing bacteria. So, wear comfy, breathable clothes and shower right after sweating it out. And when it comes to food, greasy, sugary, and fast food might be tasty, but they can also fuel acne. A balanced diet with lots of good stuff can help keep those pimples at bay. Stress Messes Things Up: Life can get stressful, right? But did you know stress can mess with your skin too? When you're stressed, your body releases a hormone called cortisol, which tells your skin to produce more oil. More oil means more chances for acne to crash the party. So, find ways to chill out, like deep breathing, going for a walk, or chatting with a friend. The Big Finish: So, there you have it! While some lucky ducks seem to breeze through life without a pimple in sight, most of us have to deal with acne at some point. • Sapna Dhanwani's Journey: Balancing The Life Of Stardom And The Corporate

Sapna Dhanwani's Journey: Balancing The Life Of Stardom And The Corporate By Anushka Sharma Sapna Dhanwani's Journey: Balancing The Life Of Stardom And The Corporate 12 August 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Sapna Dhanwani's venture into content creation is a tale of transformation and self-discovery. Her story began in the early days of Instagram, when it was just a platform for sharing personal moments. Balancing a traditional 9-to-5 job, Sapna used Instagram to post pictures of her meals, travel, and fashion . It wasn't long before her unique style and taste attracted attention. As friends and followers began asking about her outfits and where to purchase them, Sapna noticed a growing interest in her content. Despite her desire to pursue content creation full-time, she hesitated. The comfort of a stable income and the uncertainty of a new career path made it challenging to take the leap. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic served as a catalyst for change. With more time at home and a desire for a career shift, Sapna contemplated diving into content creation full-time. The arrival of her baby further intensified her need for a flexible work schedule. Sapna found herself struggling to balance her demanding job with her role as a new mother, leading to feelings of dissatisfaction and burnout. Resigning from her corporate job was a significant decision for Sapna. She acknowledged that it wasn’t just about leaving a steady paycheck but about reclaiming her personal happiness and well-being. After resigning, she set herself a timeline—six months to a year—to see if her content creation career could take off. If not, at least she would be present for her daughter and continue pursuing her passion as a hobby. To her delight, the response was positive. Brands started showing interest in working with her, and Sapna found herself collaborating with some well-known names. The transition from corporate life to content creation allowed her to exercise her creativity fully. Unlike her previous job, where brand guidelines were strict, Sapna now had the freedom to set her own rules and drive her content according to her vision. However, the journey was not without its challenges. The initial months without a regular income were tough. Sapna had to adjust her lifestyle and budget more carefully. Despite these difficulties, she remained optimistic, leveraging her savings to navigate through the lean periods. Her approach to content creation became more aligned with her personal values and interests, leading to a fulfilling career shift. Sapna’s experience highlights a broader narrative about the evolving role of influencers and content creators. In places like Dubai, the influencer market is burgeoning, providing ample opportunities for those who are professional and dedicated. The shift towards influencer marketing reflects a broader trend where brands value authentic content and personal connections over traditional advertising methods. For Sapna, the move from Dubai to Ras al Khaimah—while still working in Dubai—has been a practical choice to balance her family life with her career. Her story is an inspiring example of how embracing change and pursuing one’s passions can lead to a rewarding career shift, even when faced with uncertainty and initial financial challenges. Sapna Dhanwani’s journey from a corporate career to becoming a successful influencer is a testament to the power of following one’s passions and adapting to life’s changes with resilience and creativity. • The Unfiltered Journey Of Chandni Solanki: From Teen Dreamer To Storytelling Icon

The Unfiltered Journey Of Chandni Solanki: From Teen Dreamer To Storytelling Icon By Sakshi Batra The Unfiltered Journey Of Chandni Solanki: From Teen Dreamer To Storytelling Icon 12 February 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Mumbai’s Girl With Big Dreams In the bustling city of Mumbai, where dreams often get lost in the chaos, Chandni Solanki carved her own path. A lover of books, cozy café corners, and solo travel, Chandni’s story started as an ordinary one. But there was nothing ordinary about her dreams. What began as a teenage experiment with TikTok at the age of 15 turned into a career that would not only shape her life but inspire countless others. “I started making videos just for fun,” she shares. “I never thought it would become a full-time job, let alone a part of my identity. From casual entertainment to becoming a recognized influencer in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, Chandni’s journey proves that dreams pursued with passion have the power to shatter every expectation. The Power Of Determination Not all roads to success are smooth, and Chandni’s path was no exception. Like many young dreamers, she faced resistance from her family. “My parents wanted me to focus on studies and pick a stable career,” she recalls. But Chandni’s determination was unshakeable. “I’ve always been a stubborn kid. I knew what I wanted, and I wasn’t going to give up on it.” That stubbornness became her superpower, helping her navigate the unpredictable and ever-changing world of content creation. But even now, despite her success, she keeps her feet firmly on the ground. “I don’t think I’ve made it yet,” Chandni says. “There’s still so much I want to achieve, so much potential I need to showcase.” The Reality Of Influencing: Beyond Glam And Glitter Life as an influencer is often romanticized, but Chandni isn’t afraid to share the truth. “It’s not just about pretty pictures and trending reels. There’s a curveball every single day,” she says. From staying relevant to creating meaningful content, the hustle is real. What sets her apart is her authenticity. Chandni’s content reflects her everyday life, simple yet impactful. She mixes beauty, skincare, and fashion tips with her own experiences, offering advice that’s both practical and relatable. “Skincare is about basics: eat lots of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, and take care of yourself,” she says. As for fashion? “It’s all about mood. Some days, I’m all black and white—classic and chic. Other days, I want bold, vibrant colors. Fashion is about expressing who you are in the moment.” The Bookworm Behind The Screen What makes Chandni truly unique is her love for literature and storytelling. While many influencers focus solely on aesthetics, Chandni finds inspiration in books and authors who resonate with her deeply. Currently, she’s reading The Forest of Enchantments by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. “It’s such a beautiful retelling of the Ramayana, told from Sita’s perspective. It portrays her as a strong, independent woman, and I can’t stop thinking about it,” she shares. Another author who inspires her is Sally Rooney, known for her simple yet captivating narratives. “Her storytelling is raw and relatable,” Chandni says. “It reminds me that sometimes, simplicity can make the deepest impact.” Her love for writing started when she was young, scribbling poems and love stories in school, but now, she dreams of weaving her passion for storytelling into her content. “I want to create narratives that connect with people on a personal level. Stories are what make us human, and I want to tell mine in the most meaningful way.” Changing Perceptions And Shaping The Future Despite her polished Instagram profile and growing influence, Chandni wants to break the stereotypes people have about her. “A lot of people think I’m just sassy and not grounded, but there’s so much more to me than what you see on the surface,” she says. To change that perception, she’s planning exciting new projects. Chandni dreams of creating an Instagram series and short films with relatable characters and heartfelt dialogues. “I want people to see my work and feel connected like they’re watching a piece of their own lives unfold,” she explains. Her Goal? To combine her love for reading and writing with her visual storytelling, creating content that’s not just entertaining but deeply personal and impactful. The Inspiration Behind The Vision When asked who inspires her, Chandni’s face lights up. “ Komal Pandey ,” she says without hesitation. “She’s a true trailblazer in the industry. Her boldness, creativity, and authenticity inspire me to keep pushing boundaries.” Like her idol, Chandni wants to leave a lasting impact. “I want to create a legacy that goes beyond Instagram, a brand that’s authentic, relatable, and inspiring.” A Star In The Making Chandni Solanki’s journey is more than just a success story; it’s a testament to resilience, creativity, and staying true to yourself. From a teenager experimenting with TikTok to a rising digital storyteller, Chandni is rewriting the rulebook on what it means to be an influencer. As she continues to grow and evolve, one thing is clear: Chandni isn’t just here to post pretty pictures; she’s here to tell stories, spark conversations, and inspire change. “I’m not done yet,” Chandni says, her eyes sparkling with ambition. “This is just the beginning, and the best is yet to come.” SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs.

  • Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words

Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words By Ananya Patankar Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words 30 June 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement Anshumaan Pushkar’s screen characters may exude intensity and silence, but off-screen, he’s refreshingly open, often goofy, and endlessly curious. In this honest conversation, he reflects on finding his rhythm—from the small-town chaos of Mokama to monologues that moved the nation. “I wasn't the first choice—but I became the right one.” Anshumaan speaks like someone who knows exactly where he came from, what it took to get here, and why the work—not the noise around it—matters. No performance, no myth-making. Just an actor who started from nowhere, reflected from his past, and built a career by paying attention. To craft. To people. To the stillness in between. From a small town in Bihar, Ashumaan knew he was meant for greater things. He expresses that “The urge to express was always there. I wasn’t a quiet kid—I danced, I performed, I mimicked everyone.” There was no road-map, no exposure, no acting school. What’s astonishing is that nothing about his journey was designed for the life he has now. It was all instinct, all self-taught. And somehow, that’s what makes it all work. As a child, Anshumaan was driven by a restless need to express. He would dance at weddings, mimic actors, and even imitate his school teachers just to entertain those around him. “I used to lock myself in my room and copy Hrithik Roshan or Govinda,” he recalls. His mother would watch from the doorway, often laughing, sometimes amused, sometimes surprised—but never dismissive. “She saw it as silly, maybe even strange, but she never stopped me,” he says. Without formal training or a clear path, he built his early discipline alone—practising monologues during lockdowns, experimenting with gestures and voices, rehearsing in private, like it meant everything. And in many ways, it did. That early, obsessive dedication is what carried him to the sets he stands on today. He describes that coming from a small town, the film industry seems like a fantasy world. Anshuman was following the script everyone around him expected—“study, job, settle down”, this did not stop the spark inside him. Conveniently, when the time to choose where to do his MBA came, he picked Mumbai—not for the degree, but for proximity, at the Ekjute Theatre Group . He says, “Cinema was the only reason I chose Mumbai. I wanted to be near the industry, even if I wasn’t in it yet.” With great resilience Anshumaan sprinted towards his dreams, he expresses that “this was the moment I said to myself—enough of waiting on the sidelines. The stage is there. Now you have to be there. Somehow, anyhow.” His first major break came with Jamtara , a project he auditioned for in 2017. “I felt like this was the kind of character I wanted to do. It felt right,” he says. But the process wasn’t immediate—shooting didn’t begin until 2018, and the release took even longer. “There was a one-and-a-half-year wait after we finished shooting. That confusion, that silence—it was real.” During that gap, he held on to one thing: theatre. “Theatre never let me feel useless,” he says. “Even when nothing else was happening, getting recognized on stage, even by ten people, was enough to keep going.” His passion for the stagecraft just grew stronger no matter the hindrances. The storms Ashumaan weathered strengthened not only his resilience, but also his instincts as an actor. He explains “I like to experience the emotion of a character rather than just map it out intellectually.” He doesn’t separate technique from emotion—he blends them. “You mix your own soul into the words written on paper,” he says, “and somewhere in that process, the performance becomes real.” Anshumaan’s effort as an actor is to embody the soul of every character he plays. He reflects on what a director once advised him, “You’re pretending to feel it, but when you actually feel it, there’ll be no difference between you and the character.” That’s the standard he holds himself to now—an internal honesty that can’t be faked, and shouldn’t be. It’s this depth of commitment to performance that often blurs the line between actor and character—so much so that people assume he’s exactly like the roles he plays. He mentions that the audience often pictures him in reference to his characters, broody, serious, and intense, however on the contrary he is the complete opposite. Anshumaan admits that “In reality, I’m fun-loving, adventurous… sometimes even goofy.” He recalls that his work in Moonwalk gave him the chance to do something entirely different. It gave him a space to express his true self. The character was lighter, more playful, and far from what audiences expected of him. “It was a shift,” he says, “but I relied on instinct, leaned into the rhythm of it.” With little prep time, he improvised freely, found humour in the moment, and surprised even himself. “That set taught me you don’t always need control—sometimes, you just need presence.” That ability to stay present—to read a room, adapt, and react without overthinking—comes from a habit he’s had since childhood. “Observation is my biggest tool now,” he says. Whether it was mimicking teachers or studying how someone walked or spoke, he was always absorbing. “Earlier, it was imitation for fun. Now, it’s about understanding emotion. That’s what helps me build truth into a character.” He didn’t have legacy, training, or access—just sharp observation, relentless patience, and a belief that even a boy from Mokama could belong in cinema. Everything he knows, he’s learned by doing: watching actors with reverence, listening to directors like a student, and trusting the rhythm of his own instinct. “I don’t know how it became reality,” he says, thinking back to the boy who once danced in a locked room while his mother smiled at the door. “But I think he’d be proud.” And maybe that’s the most powerful thing about Anshumaan Pushkar—he doesn’t just honour his craft, he honors the quiet, persistent child who had faith in himself, to craft his dreams into reality.
