- Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded
Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded by Aishwarya Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded 3 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Fragrances play a huge role in our day-to-day life. They are an important aspect of our life. Often we human beings associate a certain person, food, incident or event, with the fragrance that reminds us of them. They play the role of making us feel nostalgic and associate with the source even more. While we all love a good fragrance, some people seem to have problems with perfume being in skin care. Though unfortunately, there isn’t a clear answer to whether fragrance in skincare is bad or not, still there is a lot of controversies surrounding it. A nice-smelling face mask seems like a perfect match for your me-time routine, but for some, it's the worst thing to do for their skin. The fragrance has become controversial in recent years, and the credit goes to YouTube videos, Subreddit threads, and many other social media platforms. According to a study, the American Academy of Dermatology suggests that fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact dermatitis , which affects roughly 1% of the population. As you can see, the number is quite nominal. So whether your skin could suffer some irritation due to scented skincare or not, is subjective and complex. On top of that, there isn’t a particular way to find out whether your skin will get irritated or not. There isn’t a single or particular symptom to find out the risk, which makes it difficult for you to decide, whether to use scented skincare or not. There are two types of fragrances, that can be used in your skincare; synthetic and natural. Your basic instinct would be to opt for natural fragrances. But is natural always better than chemicals? According to the experts, not really. Let us first understand what synthetic fragrances are. Synthetic fragrances are the ones, that are created in the lab. Furthermore, synthetic fragrances can be either fully synthetic or semi-synthetic. Semi-synthetics are the ones that are partially created and the rest is natural. Many brands choose synthetic fragrances for their products, as it lasts longer than natural fragrances. Generally, the natural scent has a shelf life of around one to two years, while synthetic fragrances has a shelf life of five years. Natural fragrances are derived from a natural source, like lavender or rose. They aren’t created by humans, so they are available in just one form; all-natural. The only problem with natural fragrances is their shelf life, rather than that it serves its purpose. Now, that being said, even natural essential oils can cause severe skin irritation. So, before you get into investigating the concerns of fragrances in skincare, look for the products that work best for you. Not everyone is allergic to fragrances and you need to know that skincare is subjective. While it is important for us to know what’s there in our skincare. We should also know, how a certain product reacts to our skin. Applying a little bit of the product to the back of your ear can be a great way to start. Fragrances are harmful to some people, but it isn’t toxic chemical you need to be worried about. With that being said, always do what your skin needs. According to a study, the American Academy of Dermatology suggests that fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact dermatitis , which affects roughly 1% of the population. #Skincare #Fragrances #UnscentedSkincare #Fragrancefree #Controversy #SkinTalk #SkinFacts SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai 25 April 2025 FASHION By Anushka Uniyal Kiyaan Silver: Timeless Jewellery For Every Woman 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra The Shoe Faktory Success Story: Ishpreet Singh Gujral’s Bold Business Leap 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra From Reality TV To Real Success: Nibedita Paal’s Inspiring Story 27 March 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS
- The Icon of Minimalistic Fashion
The Icon of Minimalistic Fashion by Aparajita Jaiswal The Icon of Minimalistic Fashion 16 July 2021 FASHION Advertisement From a mediocre hat designer to one of the prime influences on American Fashion, Halston emerged as one of the greatest illustrators of minimalism and luxurious fashion. As halter necks still tend to be one of the greatest trends in fashion today, one shall go back to the 1970s when Halston gave the halter neck an upgrade with his luxurious touch. Surrounded with silk tranquillity, his halter dress which he designed for his closest one, Liza Minnelli gained immense amount of recognition. It was simple, classic, sophisticated in every way with a hint of luxury. In the most momentous fashion shows in the history of American Fashion, The Battle of Versailles, his victory marked the birth of an icon with his magic and gained gigantic fame. He was also notable for the diversity of race and culture in his models which represented his art. His work and closed affiliation with some of the renowned faces like Andy Warhol and Bianca Jagger brought him more recognition. Halston created a water-proof trench coat, expanding his brand across the country. As much as he liked to party at the Studio 54, he gave birth to Disco-Dressing and entered the world of shimmer in the form glitzy glam and sequined outfits. But nothing took take place of the glamour of the Halter, which was popularized across America. His appeal of sophisticated fashion comes from the fantastic choice of materials he used for his designs. From cashmere silk to shimmering satin, Halston had it all. The brand logo itself expressed Halston’s love for minimalism. If one watched the Netflix documentary “ Halston”, they could notice how he surrounded himself with minimalism, through his choice of dark colours in his house and his office furnished with red walls and glass. His day to day black outfits with long coats of mostly beige, expressed his monochromatic lifestyle. Growing a brand by creating vast varieties of products and lines can be very challenging, but Halston loved challenges. Beginning with dresses refining classy appeal, he introduced his monochromatic taste through a line of luxurious luggage, red carpets, aviators, bath robes, and what not. Eventually, He ended up selling his brand and his name to Norton Simon Inc. For which he was offered approximately 11 million dollars. He became the Creative Director of the brand he founded. Side by side, Halston became an addict of cocaine consumption because of his regular visit to Studio 54. He also faced relationship crisis the same time his business was steeply moving towards decline. A dialogue of Halston (Ewan McGregor) from the Netflix documentary, – “ I must be a real artist because I am a terrible businessman” – touches ones heart. Money brings fame, but it can also take away everything. Halston spent his last days driving to San Francisco, soon after he was tested positive for AIDS related lung cancer. After two years in Francisco, the world lost an iconic designer in March 1990. - An Uncontacted Island In India: North Sentinel Island
by Aishwarya by Aishwarya An Uncontacted Island In India: North Sentinel Island 10 February 2023 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement In today’s modern world, we all look out for vacation destinations that are close to nature. Maldives and Mauritius are the two islands that will be there in your travel bucket list. What if we say that, there is an island that is banned for tourists? Well, if you were shocked knowing that, then let us take you through the most isolated island in the world; North Sentinel Island. North Sentinel Island is one of the Andaman Islands, located in the Bay of Bengal. It is the part of the Andaman Islands that is voluntarily isolated by its residential tribe. North Sentinel Island is home to the Sentinelese people, who are indigenous people in voluntary isolation. We all love our solitude, but Sentinelese loves their solitude way too much. They are considered to be the only uncontacted tribe in the world. The island is not known to many and the Government of India has also banned tourism over there. Under the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Protection of Aboriginal Act of 1956, people are prohibited to visit this island. The North Sentinel Island is protected and looked after by the Government of India. Many attempts to visit this island have resulted in violence. There isn’t much information about the island and the government has decided to let them be isolated only. In 2018, the Government of India excluded 29 islands- including North Sentinel- from the Restricted Area Permit region, in an effort of boosting tourism. In November, the government stated that the relaxation of the prohibition was to allow researchers and anthropologists, with pre-approved clearance, to visit North Sentinel. The anthropologists are fascinated by this island as the Sentinelese have not been studied much before. They are violent with the visitors and hence, we don’t even know the exact size of their population. The relaxation of the prohibition was done in the hopes of knowing them and their culture, but the result of it was something different. We humans always have an attraction toward the unknown, and hence, many people traveled to the island illegally. In 2006, the death of two fishermen, Sundar Raj and Pandit Tiwari was reported. It is said that their boats drifted too close to the North Sentinel Island and the Sentinelese attacked them. In a similar incident, an American Christian missionary, John Allen Chau was killed in the year 2018. The case of John Allen Chau took over the news pretty quickly. The 26-year-old, John, invaded the island illegally, with the motive of spreading Christianity. He went there to preach to them about Jesus and was killed by the Sentinelese on November 17th, 2018. The boatmen who took John over there reported that he saw the tribe dragging John’s dead body to the shore. In the same fashion, in 2006, when Sundar and Pandit were killed, they were buried on the shore of North Sentinel Island. The government authorities excavated one body, with great difficulty, and handed it over to his family. The body of John is, however, not found. The officials have opened a murder case but have not arrested anyone yet. John’s diary also reveals that he knew he would die and he has made a statement saying “don’t excavate my body”. One of the most notable events between outsiders and North Sentinel happened in 1981 when the Primrose cargo ship struck a nearby coral reef- north sentinel is covered with coral reef- shipwrecking sailors for nearly two weeks. The sailors were also attacked by the Sentinelese, and it is also known that they used the ship's debris to make metal tools. There have been more than 11 such violent cases that happened on North Sentinel Island. It is believed that they have their language, Sentinelese. It is an undescribed language and due to the lack of contact, nothing is known of their language and its vitality. After the incidents of violence, India ceased visits in 1997. The first peaceful contact with the Sentinelese was on 4th January 1991. Triloknath, a director of the Anthropological Survey of India, and his colleagues were the first ones to have peaceful contact with them. He also says that the contact didn’t bring much of the secrets out, because they weren’t allowing them to reach them. One more miraculous fact about North Sentinel Island is that it survived the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. The Indian government sent some helicopters to see their situation and give them food, but the tribe attacked the helicopter and swayed off the government officials too. While the much-developed cities suffered due to the tsunami, the North Sentinel Island- covered by water on all sides- survived it. Maybe, that is the reason we say that nature protects us when we live with it in alignment. The Sentinelese tribe is known to be the last hunter and gatherer civilization to exist. The government has now banned any tourist visits, respecting their desire to be isolated. It is also said that they are not immune to the pathogens of modern society, which makes them prone to modern-day diseases. While we desire to explore every part of the earth, it is better to leave some of the places on their own; untouched, uncontacted and unknown. BLOB An island that remains uncontacted, unknown till the date. Let’s know about North Sentinel Island, an island that is nonetheless a mystery to the human race. - Labels are to be stuck on goods, not on people
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Labels are to be stuck on goods, not on people 1 June 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Labels, growing up we’ve heard this word for over a thousand times, put the label on chart honey, the price is on the label sir, and many more diverse examples. The thing that we learned the hard way, was that those labels are also stuck on our bodies, our existence, and our whole selves. And the worst part is that these petty labels are stuck by someone else. Human society has an integral concept of putting labels on things they have no say in, things that they should not bother themselves with yet they do engage in this activity. The intrinsic need to have that much control over everything comes out of habit, out of the need to stay with one another in the early stages of human development. But, as time grew, and our bodies evolved and left these inseparable marks in the construct of societies. These labels are put on us right from the minute we are born, the minute our little bodies leave our mother’s safe womb there awaits the band of labels waiting to be stuck on our bodies. This band of labels prolifers into a herd as we grow up. The primary labels are divided into the binary gender system that society believes to be solely existing in this world. Being any of the two genders, there are expectations that our society has from us. A little girl must learn to be polite, silent, and obedient. A teenage girl must be an expert at cooking, staying away from a sparkling social life, and most importantly should be homebound. A woman on the other hand must be fostering every person in her family and should prioritize everyone above her. When they fail to perform even one of these expectations they are suddenly labeled as ungrateful, selfish, and self-centered. Little boys are taught that they should not cry, for crying is the virtue of a girl. Teenage boys are conditioned to choose a career path that could land them tons of money. A man on the other hand should be robust, they should be quick to change a tire at the roadside, they should take care of every financial need whatsoever. Similarly, when they fail to uphold these virtues that society has their tags to hook on you, labels to stick to your existence, and judgments to lay off. Men are called feminine, irresponsible, and a lot of other slangs challenging their manhood if they go against the architecture of societal emotions. The question arises in curious minds that why do these labels exist, why they have been nurtured over centuries, why these things were not removed when we got educated enough? The problem is when we evolved from our biological needs into functioning independent adults, there was always a trace of knowledge that was missing in our minds. All of these attributes that we were subjected to, once used to serve humans as their boat in this sea of life. The glitch is that they didn’t know we could swim through this ocean with our very own hands and legs. That this life is just an act of self-dependence was a very later discovery, until then damage was done. The man had developed an ego, status, and the fact that some people were going against the piece of information they sought was offensive to them. As a result, they started oppression of people they thought could go out of their hands. they specified everyone’s virtues as they pleased and decided labels to ascertain when people don’t obey. Their first target was to suppress women, as they in their sense knew what an epitome of power she is. The one who can create a seed of life can surely rebel against them and show the world the right way. And to stop men from supporting them in any way, they traced a set of tags. Tags so nascent that they will cease the support at once. This seems like a plausible explanation for all these things. Apart from these binary labels, many labels are stuck to our existence in certain specific situations and beliefs. The LGBTQ community is the first slap to their binary understanding. There had and is still prevailing an incessant urge to demolish their community as non-existent, that their orientation is just blurred and that it is against God’s creation that they are living this sinful life. The next is the labels given on the basis of Skin color, the whites are supposed to be the fairer and better race than the darker. Their supremacy has no logical explanation in any terms but these labels still haunt society to this very day. These realms of labels and tags don’t cease, it is present at the vibrance of variants in each specific society. A notion should be held on whether these are required, whether they leave a good impact on one’s mental health, etc. The answers to any of these questions do not go affirmatively. There must be understanding that these labels are downright suicidal to someone, suffocating to others, and mind-numbing to one. We should understand that we are no one to label one person, it’s not a diagram of the nervous system to be labeled but a human being’s mental health that we play along the lines. Thus, it is our duty as a society to be vigilant and responsible to a person. - Best Halloween Destinations In The World
by Priti Sharma by Priti Sharma Best Halloween Destinations In The World 13 February 2023 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement You may be wondering where in the globe to go as Halloween approaches. Here are some of the top locations. So, whether Halloween is one of your favorite holidays or you simply enjoy visiting odd, eerie tourist sites, you'll find some of the top Halloween locations around the globe in this post. We discuss places with a long history of Halloween celebrations, areas that play host to well-known Halloween events, and sites that are just eerie, making them ideal for a Halloween getaway (for those with the necessary level of bravery, that is). Salem, Massachusetts: We cannot forget about Salem when discussing the top places in the world to celebrate Halloween. The entire city goes into "Halloween mode" over the whole month of October, and there are many "haunted events" happening all over the place. Parades, costume contests, Halloween cruises, several visitor-friendly ghost tours, and more are all available. There are also a few more fascinating places to see, such as the Salem Witch Museum and the House of Seven Gables. Savannah, Georgia: In case you weren't aware, Savannah is really regarded as one of the nation's most eerie cities. The city of Savannah is a terrific choice for this list of the greatest Halloween vacation spots since it has a variety of dark tourism attractions that draw visitors all year long. In Savannah, there are several walking ghost tours that are quite popular with tourists, with the ghost & gravestones trolley tour perhaps being the most well-liked one. Reading, Pennsylvania (Shocktoberfest): In addition to being named the poorest small city in America in 2011, Reading is renowned for staging the legendary Shocktoberfest, one of the most fantastic Halloween celebrations in the nation. It began as a lone hayride and eventually expanded into a sizable "horror park" that draws thrill-seekers from all over the world. This is one of the top-rated horror attractions in the US, according to ratings. The festival's primary draws include a zombie safari tour, a massacre fright zone, zombie laser tag, and more. New Orleans, Louisiana: Our list of the greatest Halloween vacation spots in the US would not be complete without New Orleans, which is said to be one of the most haunted towns in the US. It's a terrific idea to spend Halloween in New Orleans, not only because of the city's haunted locations, intriguing parades, and history of voodoo magic (there is even an entire museum dedicated to this), but also because New Orleans is one of the most quaint towns in the nation. Isla de la Munecas, Mexico: El Isla de la Munecas gives the term "scary" a whole new meaning. All of the cities we have discussed in this post so far have a Halloween vibe. One of the spookiest islands in the world, this Mexican island has an interesting past. There was just one person living on this island in the 1950s, and his name was Julian Santana Barrera. He once discovered a young girl's body on the coast. Julian reportedly began hanging dolls from every tree he could locate on the island because the girl's ghost kept bothering him. Visitors to the islands have reportedly reported seeing the dolls move and whisper at night. To add to the dread, Julian drowned himself on the same site where he found the girl's body several years after finding her body. Dublin, Ireland: One of the nicest places in Europe to enjoy Halloween is Dublin. Let's not forget that Ireland is where Halloween first appeared. Samhain, an ancient Celtic feast, was the forerunner of Halloween. Going back to a holiday's origins is usually a pleasant experience since Halloween grew into what we know and love today through time. Halloween creates an exciting atmosphere throughout Ireland every year, with Dublin hosting one of the most vibrant events. Halloween is celebrated with a variety of gatherings and festivities, and the Irish really know how to party (as you already may know). Here are a few suggestions you may utilize to have a good time while being mindful of the environment wherever you go for Halloween: As much as you can, reuse! Create your own costumes instead of purchasing them! I recall our return from Northern Ireland. We didn't have much time to get ready. So, one of my pals just transformed an old bed sheet into a ghost outfit! It was excellent! Skip the plastics: If you're planning a party, just use regular cutlery and glasses. Use bamboo or stainless steel straws if you wish to offer beverages with straws. In lieu of carrying the dishes, search for biodegradable plastic substitutes. - Origin of Pasta: The Ambiguous Kitchen History
by Aparajita Jaiswal Origin of Pasta: The Ambiguous Kitchen History 7 July 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement One of the many wonders of the world happens to be the origin of pasta. Pasta became an increasingly common sight on restaurant menus all across the globe, but the Italians’ love affair with pasta has a long, complex, and passionate history. While we do think of pasta as a culturally Italian food, it is likely the descendent of ancient Asian noodles, or is it? Let’s find out! Nothing says Italy like its food, and nothing says Italian food like pasta. Pasta is integrant part of Italy’s food history and immaculate culture. Wherever Italians immigrated they have brought their pasta. Pasta happens to be the staple food of traditional Italian cuisine. All kinds of pasta is made of milled wheat and water and sometimes enriched with vitamins and minerals. Italian spaghetti is typically made from durum wheat semolina. Unlike other ubiquitous Italian products like pizza and tomato sauce, which have a fairly recent history, pasta may have a much older pedigree, going back hundreds, if not thousands, of years. While unraveling the long and often complex history of this delicious and finger licking dish, we have to look at its origins and some of the myths surrounding it. Very often we come across the enduring myth, based on the writings of the 13th-century explorer Marco Polo, that pasta was brought to Italy from China, rose from being published in the ‘Macaroni Journal’ by the Association of Food Industries. Some may have also learnt that Polo’s was not a discovery, but rather a rediscovery of a product once popular in Italy among the Etruscans and the Romans, a common misconception that Marco Polo introduced pasta to Italy whereas in truth, the dish had already existed in Europe for centuries but there’s little doubt he made Westerners aware of many Chinese inventions. Italian pasta enthusiasts organized a World Pasta Conference in 1995, they celebrate Word Pasta Day every year in October, since 1998. There is also an Italian Pasta Association and a Pasta Museum in Rome. History of pasta: drying pasta toward the beginning of the 1900 There is indeed evidence of an Etrusco-Roman noodle, called lagane, made from the same durum wheat used to produce modern pasta. Lagane is where the modern word lasagna originated from. However this type of food, first mentioned in the 1st century AD, was not boiled, as it is usually done today, but oven baked. Ancient lagane had some similarities with modern pasta, but cannot be considered quite the same. The country will have to wait a few centuries for its most popular dish to make a further culinary leap forward. Like so much of southern Italian life, the Arabic invasions of the 8th century heavily influenced regional cuisine. Today, the presence of Arabic people in the south of the peninsula during the Middle Ages is considered the most likely reason behind the diffusion of pasta. Early pasta making was often a laborious, day-long process. How these early dishes were served is not truly known, but many Sicilian pasta recipes still include typically Middle Eastern ingredients, such as raisins and cinnamon, which may be witness to original, medieval recipes. This early pasta was an ideal staple for Sicily and it easily spread to the mainland since durum wheat thrives in Italy’s climate. Italy is still a major producer of this hard wheat, used to make the all-important semolina flour. By the 1300’s dried pasta was very popular for its nutrition and long shelf life, making it ideal for long ship voyages. Pasta made it around the globe during the voyages of discovery a century later. By that time different shapes of pasta have appeared and new technology made pasta easier to make. With these innovations pasta truly became a part of Italian life. However the next big advancement in the history of pasta would not come until the 19th century when pasta met tomatoes. Although tomatoes were brought back to Europe shortly after their discovery in the New World, it took a long time for the plant to be considered edible. In fact tomatoes are a member of the nightshade family and rumors of tomatoes being poisonous continued in parts of Europe and its colonies until the mid 19th century (check the history of tomato here). Therefore it was not until 1839 that the first pasta recipe with tomatoes was documented. However shortly, thereafter, tomatoes took hold, especially in the south of Italy. The rest of course is delicious history. Pasta was considered a dish for the wealthy, taking pride of place in aristocratic banquets during the Renaissance. Pasta in America Early Spanish settlers were among the first to bring pasta to America. Believe it or not, it was Thomas Jefferson that helped give pasta an initial push into popularity. During an extended stay in Paris from 1784-1789, Jefferson ate what he called macaroni back then, the word could have referred to any shape of pasta. He enjoyed the dish so much that he returned to America with two cases in tow. When his supply ran out, he sent for reinforcements via a friend from Naples. The first industrial pasta factory in the US was built in Brooklyn in 1848 by a Frenchman. Pasta Today Pasta was originally solely a part of Italian and European cuisine. With an increase in popularity on a worldwide scale, pasta has crossed international borders and is now a popular form of fast food and a staple in North America and elsewhere. This is due to the great amount of Italian immigration into Canada and the United States around the beginning of the 20th century. Similarly, the immense immigration of Italians into South Africa ensured that spaghetti with meatballs became an essential part of South African cuisine. The art of pasta making and the devotion to the food as a whole has evolved since pasta was first conceptualized. Several things that have changed drastically over time are the flavorings added to pasta. Sweetness has been replaced by savory, sugar swapped out for vegetables, which helped make pasta a nutritionally complete dish. Pasta is so beloved in Italy that individual consumption exceeds the average production of wheat of the country; thus Italy frequently imports wheat for pasta making. In contemporary society pasta is ubiquitous and individuals can find a variety of types in local supermarkets. With the worldwide demand for this staple food, pasta is now largely mass-produced in factories and only a tiny proportion is crafted by hand. By Anushka Sharma By Anushka Sharma Home Ingredients That Dermatologists Swear By 19 June 2024 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement In the quest for healthy and radiant skin, many individuals turn to home ingredients as a natural, cost-effective alternative to expensive skincare products. However, experts emphasize the importance of understanding the root causes of skin issues before adopting any home remedies. Consulting a dermatologist can provide valuable insights into your skin’s specific needs and help you avoid ingredients that may do more harm than good. Most dermatologists offer a guide on the home ingredients that are safe and beneficial for your skin, and those that should be avoided. Safe and Effective Home Ingredients That Dermatologists Love: Turmeric: Known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Can be used in various forms: mixed with milk or water, as a scrub, or as a face pack. Helps achieve glowing, tan-free, and radiant skin. Aloe Vera Gel: Can be store-bought (check ingredients) or directly extracted from the plant. The latter is always better! Rejuvenates the skin and serves as a natural moisturizer. Effective in treating sunburn, cuts, and occasional pimples. Cucumber: Naturally refreshes the skin and reduces puffiness. Can be applied directly to the skin for a cooling effect. Rose Water: Acts as a toner and can be included in face packs. Cleanses and calms the skin, providing a soothing effect. Honey: Rich in antioxidants and possesses exfoliating, moisturizing, and skin-lightening properties. Can be used alone or mixed with yogurt, turmeric, olive oil, etc., for enhanced benefits. Raw Milk: Prevents wrinkles and hydrates the skin. Can be applied directly to the face for a youthful glow. Olive Oil: Excellent for dry skin due to its moisturizing properties. Can be used as a natural remedy for maintaining skin hydration. Coconut Oil: Repairs the skin’s outer barrier and has antibacterial properties. Effective in calming skin inflammation, promoting healing, and slowing down aging. Best suited for dry skin. Yogurt/Curd: Highly moisturizing and can be used alone or combined with honey, aloe vera, turmeric, or olive oil. Beneficial for hydrating the skin and providing a natural glow. Importance Of Diet In Skincare: Most dermatologists stress that skin care is not only about topical treatments but also about what you consume. A diet rich in certain nutrients can significantly improve skin health. Omega-3 Fatty Acids And Polyphenols: Found in fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, and seeds. These nutrients help maintain skin health and fight inflammation. Beta-Carotene Is Your Best Friend: Consuming beta-carotene-rich foods can eliminate pale complexion and protect against winter skin issues. Found in carrots, sweet potatoes, and other colorful vegetables. Never Forget The Importance Of A Balanced Diet: Incorporate ample servings of vegetables, nuts, fruits, and proteins like beans and legumes. A balanced diet strengthens the gut and combats inflammation, reflecting positively on your skin. While home ingredients can be a boon for skincare, it is crucial to use them wisely and in consultation with a dermatologist. Understanding the causes of your skin issues and knowing which ingredients to use can lead to healthier, more radiant skin. Incorporate these dermatologist-approved ingredients into your skincare routine, and complement them with a nutritious diet to achieve the best results. Remember, skincare starts from the inside out, and a holistic approach will ensure long-lasting benefits for your skin. - Why is childhood obesity becoming so common?
Why is childhood obesity becoming so common? by Rupashree Ravi Why is childhood obesity becoming so common? 15 August 2022 LIFESTYLE Advertisement One in five children between the ages of six and nineteen years in the United States have a body mass index at or above the 95th percentile, which is considered obese. Over forty population of the adult population in the US are also obese. In India, there’s been an alarming rise in childhood obesity all over the country, with over 18 million overweight children. And when the parents are overweight, their kids are eighty per cent more likely to have a weight problem too. Are parents making their children fat? Yes, the reason is that the easy, quick, and cheap food options that parents are providing their children fuel an obesity epidemic. Canned, processed, and packaged foods have become the go-to option for working parents who don’t have the time to prepare fresh home-cooked meals. Instant and ready-to-eat meals have become popular alternatives. Moreover, children regularly binge-eat junk options like fast food, chips, and cookies as snacks. “A typical Indian diet relies heavily on salt and sugar. They eat more convenience food that is high on carbs, instead of balanced meals.” A healthy Indian meal can constitute a combination of pulses, fibres, proteins and carbohydrates During the pandemic, these unhealthy eating habits only kept increasing due to the absence of regulated meals. A study found that the screen time for children aged between ten to fourteen years doubled as lockdowns were imposed globally. With the lack of a routine, there were also increased stress hormones, increased snacking, and emotional eating, which all contributed to increased weight gain in children. Parents and children also began to use food delivery apps more often. The lockdowns made children more obese due to poorer diets Of course, it is a proven fact that childhood obesity is a chronic disease. It has a lot of causal factors like a person’s genetics, individual metabolism, sleeping patterns, eating habits, and how physically active they are. Even other factors like negative childhood experiences, social factors like poverty and race, and environmental factors like financial status play an important role. But there are some other subtle factors as well. When it comes to the packaging of these products, colour plays an important role in children’s choice of food. For example, bright red increases a particular food product’s perceived taste, while green increases its perceived healthiness. Children also easily remember the brand names of junk food. Children should have regulated and balanced diets So what’s the solution? A great way for parents to start is by monitoring children’s screen time and showing consistency with media limits. Get your children to play outdoors more often. Parents should also protect their sleep time, and ensure they eat balanced meals of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, fruits, and vegetables each day. It’s important that they read the entire nutritional label before purchasing a product and encourage healthier food and lifestyle choices. Because obesity is not just medical and physical health-related, but it also impacts the psychological and social well-being of children. With these right steps, we can prevent and fight obesity in children, before it becomes a larger and global issue. #Obesity #ChildhoodObesity #Overweight #HealthyEating #SayNoToJunk SEARCH Countdown To History: Omega Unveils Paris 2024 Olympics Countdown Clock And Special Edition Timepiece LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE Personal Growth And Relatability: Ishita Khanna's Key To Influencer Success LIFESTYLE 6 Disadvantages Of Being Pretty LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shrinivas Kodape Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025 29 April 2025 LIFESTYLE By Aarti Singh The Audi A6: A Legacy Born From Rebellion And Refined Through Innovation 1 March 2025 LIFESTYLE By Sakshi Batra Glam Extravaganza 2025: Pune And Mumbai’s Influencers Compete For The Ultimate Spotlight 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Uniyal Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement
- Glass Slippers And Glittery Masks!
Glass Slippers And Glittery Masks! by Aparajita Jaiswal Glass Slippers And Glittery Masks! 27 July 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Don’t get too comfortable girls! You never know when the other shoe falls off too. Well when Alfred Tennyson said, “‘It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all,” I strongly disagree. Sometimes the best charmers are the ones needed to be kept on lock down. Men would say anything to get the girl. Beware of the dogs! Be with a guy that ruins your lipstick not your mascara! Although, as challenging as atoning can be, the rewards make it worth the time, but most people find it difficult to admit that there was fault to begin with and find it easier to pretend it never happened or that it’s not going to be a bother at all. But the problem with hiding your sins is that they always come back to haunt you. All masks eventually have to come off and with them so do the gloves. We all wear different masks for different reasons. Some masks we put on because it’s truly who we want to be while some masks we wear because we hope to stay hidden. Some we wear because we cannot bear to see what’s underneath or because it is what someone else wants us to be. But that’s the problem with wearing them is that they can be ripped off at any moment. Every journey is fraud with twists and turns. The ultimate challenge is to stay the course, move on from the past and forge your path into the future. Because one false move can spell disaster. #tisbettertohavelovedandlostthantoneverhavelovedatall #AlfredTennyson #MasksGirlUltimatechallengeAlfredTennysonsaid SEARCH Countdown To History: Omega Unveils Paris 2024 Olympics Countdown Clock And Special Edition Timepiece LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE Personal Growth And Relatability: Ishita Khanna's Key To Influencer Success LIFESTYLE 6 Disadvantages Of Being Pretty LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shrinivas Kodape Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025 29 April 2025 LIFESTYLE By Aarti Singh The Audi A6: A Legacy Born From Rebellion And Refined Through Innovation 1 March 2025 LIFESTYLE By Sakshi Batra Glam Extravaganza 2025: Pune And Mumbai’s Influencers Compete For The Ultimate Spotlight 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Uniyal Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement
