  • Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing

SOCIETY by Rupashree Ravi Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing 4 August 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Gender equality in the workplace is still a pipe dream for many. Education, discrimination, societal norms, and other factors affect women’s occupational choices and their pay. It is known that women are paid significantly lesser than men for the same work they do, whether it is paid domestic labour or a desk job. This is despite the fact that over the last several decades, millions of women have joined the workforce and have also made huge gains in their educational attainment. All this means that the gender pay gap is real. It also hurts women by suppressing their earnings and making it harder for them to keep a balance between work and family. The gender pay gap is essentially the average difference between the remuneration received by working men and women. But it is more nuanced as the pay gaps can be unadjusted or adjusted. The former is much starker as it simply differentiates between the mean and median wages of the two genders, while the latter takes into account differences in factors such as occupation, education, and job experience. Women are often blamed for not earning more “Worldwide, women only make 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. This results in a lifetime of income inequality between men and women and more women retiring into poverty.” This kind of inequality can be seen in all countries and across all sectors because women’s work is undervalued and they also tend to be concentrated in different jobs than men. Even though the nature of the work may require equal or more effort and skills, it is still valued and remunerated less. The gap widens for women of colour, immigrant women, and mothers, which pushes them into casual and part-time work in the informal economy. This kind of phenomenon is common and much larger in developing countries than in developed countries. It is alarming to know that in a country like India, the reasons for the pay gap are much more complicated. Girl students are forced to drop out of school and are married off, and even if they are educated, many women are not allowed to work by their families. Women who join the workforce often need to take extended leaves for maternity and child care, and even the healthcare of other family members. To top it all, they also take care of household duties like cooking and cleaning. All these factors lead to women’s earnings falling behind men’s over time. Women are forced to micro-manage at their workplace and home We have to understand why the gender wage gap exists and how we can tackle it, without shifting the blame to women for not earning more. Our economy itself provides unequal opportunities for women at every point of their education, training, and career choices. As a result, women tend to choose jobs that pay less, according to a study. They disproportionately enter lower-paid, and female-dominated occupations. However, this decision is shaped by discrimination, societal norms, and other forces beyond their control. Employers also choose to prefer men over women for the same positions and roles due to factors such as motherhood penalties. “Equal pay for work of equal value” The bottom line, however, is that socio-economic disparity and patriarchal power structures expose women to more unpaid care work and land the weight of multi-dimensional work, including primary caretaking on them. Factors like non-inclusivity and sexual harassment in the workplace further pressurise them to opt out of their career prospects. Studies reveal that it will 195 years to overcome the gender pay gap in India This is why we need to expand paid family and medical leave and improve the overall work-life balance. Paid paternity leaves for men are also a great start so that they can help at home as well and lift the burden from women. Implementation of stricter laws like the Equal Pay Act at the state and national levels will help to reduce the widening pay gap. Lastly, gender-sensitive employment practices and measures to reduce sexual harassment in the workplace are the need of the hour all across the world. #Feminism #GenderPayGap #Representation #Patriarchy #WorkplaceInclusivity #GenderSensitisation SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • Breakfast – Don’t miss!

by Akash Khatri Breakfast – Don’t miss! 7 July 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement My most favourite meal of the day – BREAKFAST! The first thing out of bed. The fun part: it can include anything, be it fresh orange juice, hot waffles, drooly pancakes with maple syrup, a bowl of cereal with fresh milk, oats garnished with pretty dry fruit, tasty French toast, a warm croissant, crispy bacon, PopTarts, fruits, berries, a slice of perfectly toasted bread, eggs in any form and not forgetting freshly brewed coffee. It sets the mood good for a day. People often skip breakfast in a rush to reach in time, to spend some more time in bed, because they are too tired to bother, they don’t feel hungry, they are bored of the same breakfast every day, or some other excuse, but it’s wrong. It is called the “most important meal of the day” for a reason. Research links eating breakfast to good health. It helps you kick start your metabolism as it is the first meal after you wake up thereby also helping you to burn calories throughout the day. It provides you with the fuel required to get you going through the day and avoids you to binge eat as it controls your appetite. Science has proved that a good breakfast is directly proportional to a better memory. This ‘first meal’ also lowers bad cholesterol levels in our body and prevents a number of other diseases such as diabetes, obesity, etc. A US study that analyzed the health data of 50,000 people over seven years, concluded that those who made breakfast the largest meal of the day had a lower body mass index (BMI) than those who ate a large lunch or dinner. Moreover, it breaks the overnight fasting cycle by replenishing the body with glucose. A healthy breakfast also contains all nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre which are very important for our body. Running late? Don’t worry, we’ll help: Prepare a week’s breakfast over the weekend or the night before such as overnight oats, fruit jars or healthy muffins. A pre-prepared breakfast saves you ample of time in the morning and can be picked up on the way to your destination. Try setting your alarm 10-15 minutes prior to your usual time so that you don’t skip breakfast. Figure out what you want to eat for breakfast the night before and set out dry ingredients or pans and bowls you would require so that you save time in the morning. Stock your cupboard with go-to breakfast foods like protein bars, low sugar cereals, smoothies, etc. Keep some breakfast foods in your car or workplace or handbag. According to nutritionists, one should eat breakfast within two hours of waking and it should be in the range of 25-35% of your guideline daily allowance, also known as GDA. A few quick breakfast ideas: Ø Avocado toast with eggs Top a slice of brown or multigrain bread with smashed avocado and a sunny-side-up/fried/baked egg or two sprinkled with some salt and pepper for taste. Ø Pancakes It can be finished with a handful of berries, chopped bananas, spread of peanut butter or chocolate spread or the old maple syrup. Ø The fruit toast My personal favourite, it’s super easy to make. Add your favourite nut butter with some chopped bananas on a toast with a garnish of chia seeds. Ø Fruit bowl The quickest to make. Precut fruits to make it even quicker, mix seasonal fruits together. The fun part- you can just add anything you like. I like to add some quinoa, honey and lemon too. Delicious! Ø Scrambled Mess Break a few eggs in a pan coated with a spray of oil. Add in your favourite veggies to add some colour like onions, chillies and bell peppers. I like to flavour it with some rosemary, thyme and basil leaves. You can also stick to the simpler version by just adding salt and pepper. Ø The overnight overload Take a jar and mix oats, chia seeds, berries of your choice, a dash of vanilla, almond or coconut milk and maple syrup. Refrigerate overnight. You can have it cold or warm it in the microwave for a minute. Add a banana and top it with some dry fruits. Ø Classic Quinoa Cook Quinoa with any kind of milk. Add sugar, cinnamon and cardamom for taste. This dish is high in protein. Ø Peanut butter oat cookies I like to add some semi-sweet chocolate chips for taste. Ø Banana Zucchini muffins I like to substitute all-purpose flour with wheat and butter with coconut oil to make it healthier. Ø Warm waffles Top it with a spoon of chocolate, peanut butter jelly, simply butter or fruits and maple syrup. Ø Simply Smoothies You can never go wrong with them; they are highly fulfilling and filled with proteins. • How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe

How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe by Priti Sharma How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe 7 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Despite having a wardrobe full of clothing, do you ever tell yourself, "I have nothing to wear." I know firsthand how irritating it can be to have an overflowing wardrobe full of clothes we may not particularly enjoy wearing. Can you genuinely say that you wear every piece of clothing in your closet? If the answer is no, keep reading to learn how to begin effectively cleaning your closet and creating a wardrobe that you will want to wear every day. But first, what is a capsule wardrobe anyway? A capsule wardrobe is a collection of carefully chosen, classic pieces that never go out of style. (Your closet already has a capsule wardrobe.) The things in a capsule wardrobe are the ones you adore wearing every day. Many minimalists contend that a capsule wardrobe should consist of between 30 and 50 things for the whole year, but I disagree. A capsule wardrobe should be created around your lifestyle and comprise items that you enjoy wearing and that make you happy. How to start a capsule wardrobe? Step 1: Analyze your style and lifestyle: Knowing our style is the first step to creating a wardrobe you will enjoy. You can take a style quiz to gain a general idea of what kind dominates in your life. Step 2: Track what you like to wear for 30 days: There are many ways to do this, either by manually tracking down what you wore every day in a notebook or in the note app on your mobile phone whenever and wherever and whatever comes to your mind while working or walking through the park, or while listening to some music. Step 3: The closet clean-out! You will have a better idea of your existing capsule wardrobe that currently exists in your closet after tracking what you wore effortlessly for 30 days. There is no magic number; creating a capsule wardrobe is about choosing the clothes you want to wear. Of course, you'll have gorgeous formal gowns you wear to weddings once a year, as well as your athletic wear and loungewear. They are not included in your capsule. Think of your capsule as your “go-to” rack of things you love to wear every day based on your lifestyle. The second pile represents the bulk of the job; it is now time to classify the remaining items. Before organizing, examine each thing to ensure that the idea of wearing it in the future makes you joyful. I would just get rid of it if it makes you feel guilty or like you have to wear it for "x reason." Sort your clothing into these categories: all-year fundamentals, Summer and spring, autumn and winter, and sell/donate pile. Keep track of the number of things you have in each category before deciding whether to create an annual or seasonal capsule. Although every one of us has a different lifestyle, it's crucial to continue wearing the clothes we enjoy. I personally enjoy creating seasonal capsule wardrobes because it declutters my closet by putting away the things I won't be using, and it allows me to view everything I have for the current season and think of new ways to style and wear the same items. I find it really energizing and enjoyable that when the seasons change, your old clothing transforms into your "new capsule" without the need to shop! Step 4: Define your colors / create a color palette to guide your future shopping: When creating a capsule wardrobe, a color palette is something optional but highly helpful because it serves as a shopping reference. Following the experiment of wearing 30 different products for 30 days, you will discover which colors you like to wear again. These colors may then be added to your color palette reference guide, giving you a direction for choosing colors when you go shopping in the future. Step 5: Map out your capsule and create a wishlist for missing items: It's time to develop a mental or visual map of your capsule or capsules to assist you to purchase less now that you've chosen your basics and given what you don't enjoy. If, after categorizing your wardrobe, you discovered that many of your "all-year staples" can be worn in the fall and winter, you no longer have an excuse to buy a new sweater. Instead, you should experiment with layering and set a goal for yourself to wear your sweaters throughout the year. Making a checklist of how many additional tops you believe you could need can help you finish your spring capsule wardrobe. You might have discovered during your closet clean-out that you don't have enough new and breathable tops for spring. Step 6: Rewear before you have the urge to buy again: This is the stage when you learn to be more creative, thus I believe it to be my favorite. I try to make myself put on an item from my closet that I haven't worn in a while whenever I feel the want to purchase it. It's acceptable to just get rid of it and donate it to someone who might enjoy and re-wear it more than you if you try to re-wear anything and you don't feel confident or attractive in it. We never have the perfect closet, and occasionally we hang onto things because we are not used to letting go. Step 7: Invest in quality over quantity, your clothes shouldn’t cost as much as your cup of coffee, and here’s why: Learn about the fibers used in the clothing you buy, as well as the implications of tossing away clothing, if you want to become a more deliberate consumer. Did you know that 85% of textile waste in the USA ends up in landfills? Rewearing is the main way to lessen your fashion footprint. If you must purchase anything new, consider buying used items or supporting firms that are ethical, sustainable, and that use natural and organic textiles as well as recycled materials when producing their clothing. Sometimes, environmentally friendly clothing may cost more than conventional clothing, but this is only because environmentally friendly manufacturers pledge to pay their employees a fair salary and to use only premium, natural, or recycled materials. Your clothing shouldn't be as expensive as your morning brew. We must develop the habit of paying reasonable rates for goods. #Fashion #Capsule Wardrobe #Clothing #collection #Style #Colours SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai 25 April 2025 FASHION By Anushka Uniyal Kiyaan Silver: Timeless Jewellery For Every Woman 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra The Shoe Faktory Success Story: Ishpreet Singh Gujral’s Bold Business Leap 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra From Reality TV To Real Success: Nibedita Paal’s Inspiring Story 27 March 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS

  • A Brief History on Alexander McQueen

A Brief History on Alexander McQueen by Akash Khatri A Brief History on Alexander McQueen 1 January 2021 FASHION Advertisement If you are fond of premium fashion labels and well aware of the high-level fashion brands then you must be well acquainted with the Alexander McQueen label. The first genuine curiosity for the ones who are not familiar with this name would be who is Alexander McQueen? Alexander McQueen was a famous British fashion designer who brought a revolution in the fashion industry with his rebellious fashion innovations back in the 1980s. He got himself in the fashion industry quite early in his life but soon his flamboyant and out-of-the-box and bold fashion styles brought him under the spotlight. McQueen’s early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics with trousers aptly named “bumsters” and a collection titled “Highland Rape”. These collections had also made people from the Brit fashion industry cringe, but eventually, his talent prevailed, and he became known for his dramatic and extraordinary fashion shows and cat-walks which were sheer head-turners for everyone. He was also one of the first fashion designers who worked with Indian models in London. Some of McQueen’s accomplishments included being one of the youngest designers to achieve the title “British Designer of the Year”, which he won four times between 1996 and 2003 also he was into a partnership deal with the Gucci group and his own label which he founded in the year 1992. By the end of the year 2007, McQueen had his own fashion house established in the cities of London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, and Las Vegas. Coming to his personal life, he was gay and quite vocal about his sexuality and he never hid anything from the world. But in his later life, he became addicted to drugs and even was depressed. In February 2010 he hanged himself in his home in London and left the entire world in shock and remorse. His psychologists said that he was into depression for three years consecutively and as an escapade, he was into heavy drugs. At the time of Alexander McQueen’s death, he had an eighty percent finished Autumn/Winter collection. 16 pieces of this collection were presented during Paris Fashion Week on 8 March 2010 as a tribute to this great fashion designer. • Reflecting on Our World’s Billionaires Despite Corona

SOCIETY By Aparajita Jaiswal Reflecting on Our World’s Billionaires Despite Corona 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement The coronavirus has hit the global economy hard and that includes even the richest people in the world. Forbes recently published its annual list of billionaires and found that the number of billionaires has dropped significantly because of the pandemic. Even among those still on the list, more than half saw their wealth decrease since the pandemic. There were 2,095 billionaires on the list when it was finalized on March 18, according to the business website. That was 58 fewer billionaires than last year and 226 fewer than at the beginning of the month, Forbes reported. Of course, with the markets in flux because of the coronavirus, each billionaire’s net worth also fluctuates depending on the day. Despite this, Jeff Bezos, 56, still stands to be the richest man in the world, despite transferring a quarter of his Amazon stake to his ex-wife MacKenzie last summer, according to Forbes. He was worth $113 billion on March 18. Coronavirus has led Jeff Bezos to donate $100M to feed hungry Americans. Bezos’ gift was the largest single donation Feeding America has ever received. “Today, I want to support those on the front lines at our nation’s food banks and those who are relying on them for food with a $100 million gift to @FeedingAmerica,” Bezos wrote on Instagram. Despite the plight of the world and the ongoing economic effect of the coronavirus crisis, billionaires in the U.S. have seen their wealth increase by over $406 billion in the past month. Other billionaires who have seen their wealth grow amid the pandemic include Tesla CEO Elon Musk — also by nearly $10 billion since January 1. In that time, Zoom founder Eric Yuan has added $3.5 billion to his net worth at $7.4 billion, thanks to the popularity of his video conferencing software in lockdown. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has added more than $4 billion to his fortune. #JeffBezosBezosCoronavirusInstagramTeslaTeslaCEOElonMuskElonMuskMacKenzieZoomfounderEricYuanFormerMicrosoftCEOSteveBallmerBillionForbesPandemicWealthBillionaireFeedingAmerica SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • Winter – Take Care

Winter – Take Care by Akash Khatri Winter – Take Care 9 January 2021 FASHION Advertisement The chilly season is back and now is the time to take extra care of your skin. Lack of nourishment can lead to dull, pale and dry skin. Winter weather affects all skin types. Some basics to keep your skin radiant and glowing: MOISTURISE Keep your skin hydrated! The cold winter air pulls moisture from your skin leaving it dry and itchy. Protect the natural oils by using a ceramide-rich cream. Try moisturizers with added vitamin C or vitamin E. For added protection, slip on socks or gloves to help the cream soak in better. A thermostat might suck in the hydration causing dry air which is bad for your skin, use a humidifier to add the moisture back. Hydrate We tend to not feel much thirsty during the cold but our body loses water in so many ways. Keep your body stocked with fluids to avoid the dullness. Health experts recommend drinking at least half a gallon a day. Sweater itch Winter skin is fragile, avoid materials that tend to irritate you as they may result in rashes. If you feel itchy, wear a cotton t-shirt underneath or use softer materials such as cashmere or fleece. Prefer lighter fabrics to synthetic ones. Use lukewarm water Hot water leaves our skin dry and flaky as it washes away the natural hydrating oils. Use lukewarm water, it helps loosen the dirt and also avoids the irritation. Try cutting down on shower time and temperature too, avoid the long hot tempting showers. Change your skincare A light moisturizing lotion might have been sufficient during the sunny summer days but it won’t do any good in the harsh winters. Use heavy rich creams with ingredients such as botanical oil, hyaluronic acid, glycerine, niacinamide and bakuchiol . Though the warm winter sun feels good but the UV rays are still harmful, use a good SPF sunscreen with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Avoid products that contain alcohol as they make your skin dry. Try overnight masks. Layer using a toner, serum and facial oils such as virgin coconut oil or grapeseed oil. • Festival of Stones

SOCIETY by Neha Pande Festival of Stones 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Bagwal also known as DevidhuraFair is celebrated at Maa Varahi Devi Temple in Devidhura located at a distance of 45km from Lohaghat in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand. Devidhura also marks the tri-junction of Almora, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts and is famous for its rich cultural fair that is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm. This fair is celebrated every year during Rakshabandhan that falls on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. Thousands of people from Uttarakhand and Nepal come to visit this grand fair. Bagwal is celebrated by dividing four different groups, collectively known as ‘Khams’. The four groups are four different tribes – Gharwal Kham, Chamyal Kham, Lamgriha Kham and Valig Kham. The fair starts out with the worship of Goddess Varahi, after the worship Prasad is distributed and this is when everything gets a bit tricky. The members of each Kham position themselves on the four corners of the field of the temple and the priest commences the festival with the sound of the ‘shankh’/shell. Bagwal is no normal festival with just worship and joy but here the Khams are fighters who carry sticks, stones and a farra/shield for the fight. These fighters throw stones at one another while at the same time protecting themselves with the shield. It does not matter how wounded or injured they get, the fight does not stop till the priest concludes the fight with the sound of the ‘shankh’. While the fight is going on the rest of the attendees cheer their teams with fight drums, folk songs and folk dances. After the fight all the injured are treated with ‘bichchu grass’ ie. Urtica Dioca. The Myth behind the Bagwal festival:- According to the myth, there once was a tradition of sacrificing a man (Narbali) from the Kham each year to Goddess Varahi. On one such year, it was the turn of this old woman to sacrifice her grandson, with a heavy heart and mind full of devotion she prepared her grandson for the sacrifice. This touched the Goddess’s heart and she spared his life under the condition that an equal amount of blood should be offered to her. Since that day, Bagwal fair is celebrated by the people where the members of each Kham throw stones at each other in order to draw sacrificial blood for Goddess Varahi. Reason for taking this Cultural Fair :- The main reason I choose to write upon Bagwal cultural fair is because my hometown is in Uttarakhand and I also wanted to address the issue of ‘Bali’/Sacrifice. Sacrificing animals as well as people have been going on in our religion as well as many other religions since the dawn of time; from Mayan, Pagan, Hinduism, Muslim etc. Sacrifice or ‘Bali’ in Hindu religion has its own significance, it is symbolic of getting rid of 6 evil forces/enemies ie. Kama– Lust Krodha – Anger Lobha–Greed Mada– Pride Moha – Attachments Matsarya – Jealousy By the sacrificial festival of Bagwal the basic idea of sacrificing men or animals was stopped yet the sacrificial blood was spilled by the act of fighting and throwing stones at each other. Our culture and heritage is one of the oldest; yet, I wanted to showcase some of the flaws in it which have changed and evolved but are still there. In August 2019, 100 men got injured under 10 minutes while celebrating Bagwal in Champwant district, Uttarakhand on Thursday. Even though the human sacrifice was stopped yet, hundreds of people got injured which is not a small thing. This is just one small case, there are many more cases tied up to this festival. Even though there is a high court ban on the use of stones during the festival yet the locals seem to sneak in with stones while outsmarting the authorities.Even a lot of local authorities encourage this practice instead of putting a stop on it. I personally believe that the concept behind ‘Bali’ is not bad because every Dussehra we burn Ravan as a sign of victory of good over evil, just like that ‘Bali’ is the concept of sacrificing 6 evils to the goddess yet the literal concept of ‘Bali’ ie. To sacrifice a living breathing creature or to injure one another is completely wrong. God didn’t make us to harm each other therefore the literal concept of ‘Bali’ should be condemned just like the literal practice of Bagwal should be put to an end. The ideology, unlike the festival, should carry on and pass on from generation to generation. Bagwal is a beautiful festival from Kumaon, Uttarakhand which should be celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, without harming each other as the concept of Bagwal is beautiful just like the myth. Bagwal is the story of love and sacrifice therefore it should be practiced with love and sacrifice of our inner demons instead of throwing stones towards each other to draw out blood as a symbol. The festival is a perfect blend of folk songs, folk dances and folklores. And just like Bagwal our country has hundreds of festivals and practices with a beautiful story but an unlikely tragic execution. #MohaAttachments #Myth #6evilforcesenemiesie #Devidhurafair #Tribal #Regionalfestival #IndianMyths #Indianfestival #MaaVarahiDeviTemple #Bagwalfestival #MatsaryaJealousy #Champawatdistrict #KrodhaAnger #Shravan #Sacrifice #Culturalfair #Lohaghat #IndianRitual #Uttarakhand #LobhaGreed #MaaVarahi #KamaLust #Rituals #Bali #Khams #MadaPride #Rakshabandhan SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • Simulation Theory: What if we were just illusions?

SOCIETY by Akash Khatri Simulation Theory: What if we were just illusions? 1 November 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement What if our reality was just an illusion? What if our truths about existence are nothing but a myth? The universe is nothing but just a mirror facing another mirror! Like a dream inside a dream! “Simulation theory” is a current trending topic, many tags this as a conspiracy theory. The modern history of this mind-boggling theory started in the year 2003 with one publication by an Oxford Professor named Nick Bostrom and the paper that opened the gates of our curiosity regarding “Simulation theory” was “Are You Living in a Computer Simulation”? As per him, we are already in simulation, and with the possibilities of advances in virtual reality, we will (the simulated creatures) will create our own simulations and gradually the only civilization that will sustain would be simulated one! The three main points from his speech were: Civilization will come to an end before we get to the next level i.e. post-human level where we can create our own designed simulations. We developed the capability of creating “simulation”, but we decided not to use it yet, thinking (perhaps) that it is unethical or against the morality to do so! We are probably living in a simulation. In the recent era, many famous personalities have also become obsessed with the fact that maybe we are nothing but just fabricated or coded by super-human beings or super-coders who are monitoring every move of ours and to some extent controlling the way we are behaving! We are nothing but just a part of the virtual simulations in a mega computer! The Déjà vu we experience is nothing but just a glitch in the matrix or in simpler terms “coding errors”! Perhaps that is why sometimes we feel these uncanny eyes are following us or watching us out of nowhere! We cannot really find who is making us feel watched over, but we get the feeling for sure! Now let us talk about tech visionaries. Do they believe in this theory? The answer is YES! The tech visionaries and futurists do not believe in the old idea of Newton where they said that the creation of the Universe was simply by an accidental natural phenomenon. Most of today’s visionaries try to see the creation of the Universe as a simulation which was aided by super-intelligence. One of the quotes by Elon Musk regarding “Simulation Theory” that went viral was: “Given that we’re clearly on a trajectory to have games that are indistinguishable from reality and those games could be played on any set-top box or any PC, and there would probably be billions of computer or set-top boxes, it would seem to follow that the odds we are in base reality are one in billions.” But there are few scientists and techies who have totally dismissed the idea saying this whole theory is not even scientific in the first place! Why should we be bothered to know whether we are living in a simulation or not? Not only because people are crazily discussing about this topic lately but to know and acknowledge the truth! Why we should find out the real answer to this theory is to find out our realities so that we can survive if the need arises ever in the future! #Oxford #illusion #Simulationtheory #Reality #supercomputers #dejavu #Conspiracytheory #ElonMask SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • Ways to be kind to yourself

Ways to be kind to yourself by Neha Pande Ways to be kind to yourself 1 September 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Be kind to yourself; your body, your soul and your mind because if you are not kind and loving to yourself then who will be? In today’s fast paced life we at times forget to take care of ourselves and when even a tiny thing doesn’t go according to our plan we start to feel low; beating ourselves over that one tiny mishap. During times like these we must take a step back and be kind to ourselves. Mishaps happen, problems and issues occur but we must stay strong and be kind to ourselves. Keeping that in mind we have made a list of ways which will help you be kinder to yourself. Take some time out for yourself – Take a break, take a time out and call it your day. Everyone needs rest and at times the best way to love yourself and be kind to yourself is to take a break and rest your body, soul and mind. Let yourself recharge and get ready for days to come. Go on a little vacation or if you can’t then take some time out to read your favourite book, watch a movie, cook, bake or go for a spa! Sky’s the limit; but make sure whatever you do, it relaxes you and makes you happy. Call a Friend – At times all we need is to call someone and vent all our troubles out and that’s why, when in doubt you go call your best friend. Friends can always hype you up and make you feel like you are on top of the world. Calling someone also helps you solve a lot of issues and helps you realise your self worth making you feel loved and appreciated. Just pick up your phone and call or in Sam Smith’s words “I’m only one call away, I’ll be there to save the day.” Give yourself a pep talk – “Hey you! You are stunning and beautiful!” Pep talks are essential especially on a low day. Instead of counting all the flaws in you, celebrate the good in yourself. Practice the art of pep talks; go stand in front of the mirror and remind yourself of how beautiful you are and how much of an amazing person you are. Take a nap – Why do you think babies are so happy most of the times? Studies have shown that taking naps can definitely make a person be energised and happy. Naps are like the super tablets that a person needs to be happy and if you are happy and energised you’ll be more kind too yourself. One nap a day will definitely make all you worries go away. Go for a walk or exercise – Go out into the world and breathe in the fresh air letting go of your worries. Walks and working out will not only keep you healthy and active but will also keep you fresh and happy. So pop in your earphones and blast some Beyoncé as you go workout or some Sam Smith for calm peaceful walks.
