- The House of Chanel: History
The House of Chanel: History by Aparajita Jaiswal The House of Chanel: History 1 May 2021 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Coco Chanel, the artistic genius of a million dollar empire, who was born by the name of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, was a French fashion designer who ruled over Parisian haute couture for almost six decades. Her elegantly casual designs inspired women of fashion to abandon the complicated, uncomfortable clothes like petticoats and corsets that were prevalent in 19th-century dress code. Among her ever so classy innovations were the Chanel suit, the quilted purse, costume jewelry, and the “little black dress”. Although the cosmetics and perfume wing of the French fashion house began many years ago with a little fragrance called No5. It started life back in 1921 when Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel was already reigning over the Paris fashion world. Everyday is a fashion show, the world is our runway Coco Chanel Chanel was born into poverty in the French countryside. After a brief stint as a shop girl, Chanel worked for a few years as a café singer. She later, with financial assistance from Arthur Capel, opened a tiny millinery shop in Deauville, France, where she also sold simple sportswear, such as jersey sweaters. Within the span of mere five years, her use of jersey’s fabric to create a poor girl look had attracted the attention of influential wealthy women seeking relief from the prevalent corseted styles. Faithful to her belief that “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury,” Chanel’s designs stressed simplicity and comfort and revolutionized the fashion industry, changing uncomfortable corsets to leisure suits. Chanel enlisted a lot of financial help from various companies and wealthy gentlemen. The magnificent empire of Chanel no. 5 was first supported financially with the help of Ernst Beaux and introduced to the world in 1921 for the very first time. Ernst Beaux was one of the most-talented perfume creators in France. It is said that from the various samples procured by Ernst Beaux, Chanel chose the fifth sample, giving the perfume its official name. It was a combination of jasmine and several other floral scents that was more complex and mysterious than the single-scented perfumes then on the market. Chanel was the first major fashion designer to introduce a perfume and that she replaced the typical perfume packaging with a simple and sleek bottle also added to the scent’s success. She partnered with businessmen Théophile Bader of the Galeries Lafayette department store and Pierre Wertheimer of the Bourjois cosmetics company, who both agreed to help her produce more of her fragrance and to market it in exchange for a share of the profits. After signing a contract wherein she received only 10 percent of the royalties, Chanel enacted a series of lawsuits in the ensuing decades to regain control of her signature fragrance. Although she was never able to renegotiate the terms of her contract to increase her royalties, Chanel nonetheless made a considerable profit from the perfume. By the late 1920s the Chanel industries were reportedly worth millions and employed more than 2,000 people, not only in her couture house but also in a perfume laboratory, a textile mill, and a jewelry workshop. At the same time, Chanel started to expand and go global launching a cosmetics line in 1924 and a range of skincare products in 1929. Chanel closed her couture house in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II. Her associations with a German diplomat during the Nazi occupation tainted her reputation, and she did not return to fashion until 1954. That year she introduced her highly copied suit design: a collarless, braid-trimmed cardigan jacket with a graceful skirt. She also introduced bell-bottomed pants and other innovations while always retaining a clean classic look. In the 50s, Chanel No5 really was the perfume to be smelt in. In a 1954 interview, Marilyn Monroe famously answered the question “What do you wear to bed?” with the line “Just a few drops of No5”. After her death in 1971, Chanel’s couture house was led by a series of different designers, stabilizing the situation in 1983 when Karl Lagerfeld became chief designer. The popularity of the perfume continued to grow but this wasn’t necessarily a good thing. In the 1970s it was decided that No5 had lost its air of exclusivity so it was reinvented and made less widely available. Huge advertising campaigns were adopted using big name directors and big name stars; a Chanel tradition that lives on to this day. Chanel’s shrewd understanding of women’s fashion needs, her enterprising ambition, and the romantic aspects of her life, her rise from rags to riches and her sensational love affairs, continued to inspire numerous biographical books, films, and plays, including the 1970 Broadway musical Coco starring Katharine Hepburn. Chanel Today Today Chanel is 87 years old and worth $100 Million. Chanel is owned by by Alain Wertheimer and Gérard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of the couturière Coco Chanel. Chanel focuses exclusively on women’s high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods, and accessories. Chanel has a huge range of fancily-priced makeup with seasonal launches and limited edition collections that come thick and fast. In more recent years, something strange happens when Chanel launch a new shade. People get a bit giddy, waiting lists are formed and cheap copycats are produced. It is one of the top luxury brands, a classic understanding of from rags to riches and a desire of every woman across the globe. Overtime they have become exclusive, desired and rare which are the reasons why Chanel’s items are both popular and expensive. #Jasmine #Chanelno5 #Fashionindustry #Fashiondesigner #Corsets #Fashion #InèsdelaFressange #HouseofChanel #Broadwaymusical #Paris #Chanelscouturehouse #Perfume #WorldWarII #Chanel #Nazi #Littleblackdress #KatharineHepburn #Dress #France #KarlLagerfeld #French #Hautecouture #Petticoats #Jewelry #Scent #ErnstBeaux #CocoChanel SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution 19 October 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

- The orientation of career in our country
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal The orientation of career in our country 1 June 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Why does India wish to be a Two faction system? Doctors and engineers. Indian society as is known to most of us shows complete dominance over the personal choices of individuals such as career choice, mental health, marriage decision, what should be done or not, opinions and whatnot. The preliminary infusion of career choice in our country is only limited to two professions. Either be a doctor or become an engineer, only then can a person’s life commemorate a moment of success. Although, in this case, we cannot blame the older generation or our ancestors for instilling us with this faction system. If we go back three decades, we could see that there were no such pressures on children to choose out of such choices. The primary reason was that at that time the financial condition of most people used to be very mediocre. They could barely manage the education and livelihood of their family. Thus noble professions such as being a doctor or engineer were a luxury then. The people chose the profession according to the status of their family. So, this economic issue was one of the barriers in earlier times to go for their dream path. The other reason that crippled people from going towards their dream job is nepotism. The notion that children should follow their parents footpath. These issues still stay in society on the metaphorical level. The point here is to understand that even though society is adamant in pressurizing people to change their choices, initially it had some valid and credible reasons as given above. Nepotism is wrong but anyhow the career path is for betterment. The economic reason however is the fault of the other consequences. These two things, although unfair, seem credible. But the fact that only two professions in the whole herd of it can make life successful is so wrong. The two faction system came into existence a decade back where industrialization seemed to uplift the job scale of engineers. Whereas the recent developments in medical sciences lured students to help save some lives. In the initial phase, it was okay, but then students flooded in for enrolling. This created issues for institutions as they had limited numbers of seats. This prompted the creation of a competitive examination. Some time period went smoothly after this. But later on, there was this race to clear these competitive exams to get admissions, which still prevails to this very day. This created a new Industry for the economy, the industry of coaching classes. The situation is such in the country now that everyone only talks about these two exams which either lead to a career in the medical field or the technical field. This has led to the lynching of other careers. In case anyone doesn’t go ahead on these two so-called noble professions, then they are expected to pursue civil services. These are the frameworks that society has lined up for careers, anyone going beyond this threshold value is stupid according to society. The reason is so uncertain for those activities, was it because earlier times they couldn’t pursue medical or engineering, is it because you want your child to leave their dream to pursue something that would make it socially acceptable, is it because you want to keep your dominion over your child all their lives, the reason is unknown. But one thing is sure that those two professions are not your only choices. it also should be known that those two entrances also work at some places to get a better bachelors college. They are not just tickets to medical or engineering. This hidden thing no one knows. No one knows that our country’s research institute also invite people from higher secondary into a BS-MS program. Everyone just gets dejected and chooses a local college for bachelors, and even after that, this doesn’t end. There is no proper cycling up of information regarding plans, masters entrances, etc. This shows that as a country we are not providing our youth with enough information but subjecting them to a bundle of discretion. Many youtube channels have started speaking about this, but as a society, we need to break out of these two factions. We have to understand the happiness of our children, one can paint, write, talk or dance as a career there should not be any indulgence. Even if people go for other professions equal respect should be paid to everyone. It must be known that diversity is the only thing that holds fast throughout all time, a faction system fails when catastrophe comes from all sides. Thus, be aware and make everyone aware. You have the potential to become whatever you want. SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - This Is What Will Happen If You Stop Using All Skincare Products For Three Months
By Anushka Sharma By Anushka Sharma This Is What Will Happen If You Stop Using All Skincare Products For Three Months 25 June 2024 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Well, to say the least, your skin will literally clear up like never before. Let’s talk about a case study and refer to that person as “X”, as “X” does not wish to disclose her real identity. X has been travelling the world as a digital nomad throughout her life, and definitely suffered from the adverse effects that travelling has on one’s skin. With a combination skin type, X was trying her level best to come up with a solution that would help her combat her skincare troubles. If you don’t know this already, combination skin type is one of the most common skin types around; It is signified as dry and sensitive in some areas such as one’s cheeks, and oily in others such as one’s T-zone. So, X starts on a journey of skincare which involved involved a twice-daily (morning & evening) face wash, followed by toner, hydrating face cream, and eye cream. She also included an exfoliating face wash once or two times a week. X didn’t want to exactly disclose the names of the brands, because the problem wasn’t in the brands, the problem was in the fact that the world told X to lather her skin with useless products. What happened after that? Well, nothing positive. Until no time, X started breaking out into little red bumps and developing high sensitivity around the cheek-region. It resulted in her skin being itchy, irritable, and inflamed. After a while, X realised that there was no point in using so many products on her skin which was already on a downgrade. Hence, she chose to blindly follow her father’s advice and eliminated every skincare product from her skincare routine. So, what was the new routine like? This routine was something that X would’ve never thought of adhering to in her wildest dreams. However, in this new routine, X chose to eliminate all the products and just keep the basics in hand. She ensured to wash her face every morning/evening with a damp warm towel (no products at all), and made it a point to use a natural lip balm for her lips, sunscreen during the day, and treated her skin to natural face masks on Sunday (All you need to do is literally spread aloe vera, yogurt or honey on your face.) What happened with this routine was BEYOND ORDINARY. For the first two days, X experienced inflammation where the cheek area got a tad irritated. After all, the skin was so fatigued. After two good days, the skin calmed down and continued to get calmer and calmer. Within ten days, X could notice that her skin had visibly calmed down and it looked significantly relaxed. The spots weren’t very prominent and the itchiness and sensitivity had faded. Within thirty days, X’s skin had adjusted to her new skin and saw pretty good results. Almost everything had faded and she was left with clear, almost supple, baby-like skin. This article isn’t written to make you hate lab-formulated products. However, it’s always ideal to look out for natural ingredients that are extracted from the goodness of the Earth. The usage of so many products definitely exposes our skin to a whole lot of chemicals and strips it off its essential oils. Why on earth would we ever want that for our skin? - The History Of Heels: Explained
The History Of Heels: Explained by Aishwarya The History Of Heels: Explained 4 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement For the last 3 centuries, high heels are extensively thought to be a women’s vogue. Seen everywhere from the runways to daily work attire, adding several elevations to a woman’s height is often thought of as the key to attachment associate ensemble along. All the same, as addicts of fashion at intervals and out of doors the trade take strides to interrupt the gender binary in attire, multiple men are noticed sporting high heels. By clutches footwear that has become such an associate picture illustration of female fashion, their selection is far dubbed “ground-breaking” or “gender-bending.” Curiously enough, the invention of high heels began specifically for men. The initial notable kind of heels dates back to the 10th- century in Persia. Male warriors riding horseback used heels to secure their feet within the stirrups and provide them additional leverage while fighting. The origin of high-heels is derived back to the fifteenth century in Persia when warriors wore them to secure their legs in stirrups. Persian settlers brought the shoe trend to Europe, where men and nobles wore them to look tall and fearful. Because the high heel came to indicate power and military artistry, it conjointly changed into a show of wealth, as solely those with wealth might afford horses. This symbolism reemerges in France during the 1600s during the reign of King Sun King. The Master of Versailles used footwear to differentiate each category and preference of the military. In 1670, he declared that solely members of the noble category might wear heels, and also he solely allowed his favourite courtiers to wear red( his colour of choice). The most international and perhaps the oldest shoe story considers a righteous woman whose shoes elevate her to a progressive rank- Cinderella. The story of the ‘slipper test’ is derived from the first century in Egypt. This tale and many more like them, advocate the picture of slippers as status and represent the importance, power and magic of shoes. By the end of the French Revolution, though, high heels were thought of as too feminine and customarily forgotten by men in Europe, yet, across the pool, because the yank West began to draw in new settlers, the wrangler, arguably associated and outlined by his attire, was thought of as the epitome of masculinity and masculine pride. Most wrangler kicks featured an associate inverted spherical heel referred to as a Cuban heel( representing the footwear of ancient Flamenco prom) and were a necessity for staying upright while moving long distances on horseback. Despite this, heels outside the wrangler setting were typically still thought to be women’s shoes. It had been not till the 1960s, once the rock group jaded the “ Beatle Boots ” — associated with early replication of Chelsea kicks — that the heel was reinvited into menswear. Rock- n- roll teams of the late-twentieth century like Aerosmith and Mötley Crue embraced such tamed designs in addition, whereas glam gem artists like Kiss and David Bowie selected for alternative ostentatious renditions. Unlike the low Cuban heels of'70s hair bands, Bowie and his stage persona Ziggy romanticism gravitated towards daring platforms, stilettos, or typically improved heels all of that were, at the time, substitutable with women's fashion. Whereas cultures like drag queen communities and theatre culture throughout this point had earlier standardized men carrying heels and alternative historically womanly clothes, Bowie's look brought gender subversive fashion to the thought. In the 2010s, the come of the Chelsea bang in convenience wardrobes was, erstwhile once more, met was respectable attention. Though, as designers still mix menswear and womenswear, the androgynous lines around apparel and accessories have lightened in their harshness. Heels improved and flashier than a straightforward black Chelsea kick square measure additional common for men than in previous decades. Brands have used them as a part of their menswear collections, and they have so established their approach to streetwear. Such as apparel, the step-down of heels as a "woman's shoe" continues to unfold as attire becomes lesser tied to one's personal identity and sex. As men hit red carpets and magazine covers in robes, there's no reason they ought to not have a pleasant few heels to accompany them. The origin of high- heels is derived back to fifteenth century Persia once warriors wore them to assist secure their legs in stirrups. #Heels #HighHeels #Soldiers #Fashion #History #MensWear #FashionHistory SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs.

- Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained
Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained by Aishwarya Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained 9 December 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Colour has a major role in our day-to-day life. Colours influence our mood and perception in life. They are an inevitable and important aspect of our lives. We buy clothes based on our colour liking, but the psychology behind it often goes unnoticed. Colour is the first thing that we notice, whenever consuming something. The concept of colour psychology plays a big role in the fashion design field. Now, you might be thinking what is colour psychology? Colour psychology is the influence of colours on the functioning of a person. It is a study of colours and their shades, to know more about our human behaviour. We get influenced by many things like perception, placebo, moods, nature etc. It is believed that our ancestors also used colour psychology as a therapy. It isn't a modern-day concept but, Egyptians, as well as Chinese people, practised Chromotherapy. This therapy included colour psychology, through which they used to heal people from their ailments. Colours have their own significance and meaning, and this is used in the design field to provoke a certain emotion. For example, red indicates bold and fierce, blue indicates calmness and loyalty and so on. Some colours are also associated with the calendar seasons. In the fall season, we tend towards shades of brown and orange, while in the winters we tend towards bright fun colours. The four primary colours- red, blue, yellow and green, is related to our mind, body and emotions. Let us see a few colours and how it affects our cognitive behaviour. Red colour indicates physical strength, warmth, energy, excitement and stability. In spirituality, it is the colour of the root chakra, the chakra that controls our existence and deep rooted knowledge. It is a dominant colour and is often related to defence, aggression and strain. Red should be preferred when you want to show power and warmth at the same time. Blue colour indicates intellect, communication, trust, logic, loyalty, calm and serenity. It is the colour of the throat chakra, the chakra that rules communication and our truth. It is also associated with coldness, aloofness, and unfriendliness. Blue colour calms the mind unlike red colour, which excites the mind. Blue can be worn for professional endeavours as it represents confidence and reliability. The yellow colour indicates optimism, creativity, self-esteem, extraversion and emotional strength. It is the colour of the Solar Plexus chakra, the chakra that rules the self, and the identity of the person. It is also associated with irrationality, fear, depression and suicide. The yellow colour has a long and emotionally stimulating wavelength to it. Yellow is considered to be the most active colour, psychologically. Violet indicates spiritual awareness, containment, vision, luxury, truth and quality. It is the colour of the Third Eye chakra, the chakra that rules intuition and higher perspective. It also indicates introversion, suppression and inferiority. It is considered that the people who wear purple are creative, insightful, and have an artistic approach. They are often mysterious and dreamy. The Grey colour depicts a lack of confidence, hibernation and depression. Grey is the only colour that has no direct psychological effects. The absence of colour makes it a depressing sight to see. It is a symbol of tranquillity, maturity and neutrality. It is difficult to define the characteristics of a person wearing a grey colour. The most loved colour, black depicts sophistication, glamour, efficiency and security. It also indicates oppression, menace and heaviness. Black is an absorption of all colours and doesnt depict a single characteristic of its own. Black creates an impression of importance and power. It makes the person to be taken seriously and respectfully. The effects of colours on our minds are more than we can ever imagine. So, the next time you choose a dress for yourself, make sure to know what you are looking to represent and then choose the colour. Choose the colours that you want in your life and, don't let the colours choose you instead. Colour psychology is the influence of colours on the functioning of a person. It is a study of colours and their shades, to know more about our human behaviour. - Cancel Culture
Cancel Culture by Akash Khatri Cancel Culture 1 November 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Cancel culture, a social media phenomenon where active social media users seek to remove the clout of a celebrity who says or does something offensive by ‘cancelling’ them. Basically, the ‘cancel’ here means to cancel out or end a person’s career in reaction to his or her unacceptable behaviour or action. For instance, if there is a celebrity or any public figure who makes a misogynistic, racist, casteist, or sexist statement or commits an act of sexual crime, there could be calls to boycott the actor’s films and other works, exile him or her from all public events and disconnect the person from all the social alliances. As a result, the person is ‘cancelled’ culturally, socially, economically and politically. There are two types of cancel culture, first one a call-out culture. Here, the responsible individual is mortified publicly on social media for his or her statements and the resulting outcry hold them accountable for their fallacy. The second variant is more serious. Here, the celebrity is called out on social media and a larger mass boycotts his or her products or services, eventually bringing a full stop to their careers. Most of the times it gets much wider and substantial or controversial but the immense recognition cancel culture enjoys, especially among teenagers and young adults, makes it one of the most controlling movements in recent times. One of the main critiques of cancel culture is that it’s making people more bigoted, quick to judge and banish those who even slightly disagree with them. Cancel culture doesn’t leave any room for constructive discourse because social media users often deliver a quick decision, based on a snap judgment, to a celebrity they view as offensive — leaving no opportunity for them to put forward their explanation on their act and make their case against their own ‘cancellation.’ But people tend to forget — whether a celebrity is canceled or not, it is up to the celebrity themself, not on those wanting to cancel them. Though targeting someone will not just affect them, but their mental health and the livelihood of many related to them, and that’s not just. However, ending someone’s career completely is easier said than done. Not many entities have had their careers completely shut down due to the negative views on the internet. Actor and activist Jameela Jamil, has said that this phenomenon is a “pointless waste of time.” But, then again, the term is utilsed among so many, that to figure out if the phenomenon is negative or positive have been made indistinct. The principal questions are: Has social media simply given another name to something that is going to exist for a lifetime? Does this phenomenon really exist when cancelling someone doesn’t mostly work forever? Does the idea of being cancelled stop awful content? Or is it just another trend that is being followed blindly?
