On the palate, it is tangy acidic and a silky perlage; and it can be accompanied by mature yellow pear, golden apple and tangerine. #WineRedwineWhiteWineRosewineSparklingwine SEARCH How to keep your skin healthy naturally FOOD Fantasy breakfast FOOD All About Homebrewing: The Art of Making Probiotic Fermented Beverages FOOD Virgin Territory: These non-alcoholic thirst quenchers are mixologist approved FOOD Tasting the sunny side of Christmas: Christmas Cocktails FOOD POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Breeze By Lebua State Tower: Duck Skin, Oolong, And The Distance Between Who You Are And Who You Were 9 September 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape China Table Restaurant At Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok: A Dim Sum Story At Dusk 7 September 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape The Blooming Gallery: A Fever Dream Of Matcha And Moss 15 August 2025 FOOD By Shriniwas Kodape Thiptara At The Peninsula Bangkok: Thai Soul By The River 28 July 2025 FOOD RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • International Men’s Day

SOCIETY by Akash Khatri International Men’s Day 1 December 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Every year on 19 November international men’s day is observed like the women’s Day on 8th march. The only difference is that many people don’t even know this day exists. And questions like ‘In a man’s world why is a MEN’S DAY needed?’ are often asked. The idea of a Men’s Day was first written down by American Journalist, John Harris in 1968. He wrote about how we have a day for women, but not one for men. In 1993 Thomas Oaster, the director of the Missouri centre of men’s studies, invited organisations to host small events for men in the USA, Australia and Malta. This event was held in February for 2 years but then after the second year, due to the poor attendance, he ceased organising an event. Malta still continued to hold an event in February. In 1999, this day was revived by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh. He realised that even though there was a day for fathers, there was no day celebrated for men who aren’t fathers or who areyoung boys and teenagers. He started celebrating this on 19 November; the day of his father’s birthday and the day a local soccer team had United his country with their endeavours to qualify for the world cup. The International Men’s Day aims to promote positive aspects of male identity based on the premise that men might respond more constructively and lead to positive role models that tend to negative gender stereotyping. The day does not intend to compete with the International Women’s Day, but to highlight the importance of men’s physical and mental health and positive masculinity. It is also an opportunity to recognise men who don’t fall into traditional manifestations of masculinity and also gay, bisexual and transgender masculine non-binary people. Malta had still been celebrating Men’s Day in February; but in 2009, they started celebrating the day in November Moreover the objectives are focusing on men’s and boys’ mental health, highlighting positive male roles. Men may also express the discrimination against them at home, workplaces, public places or in general. It is not uncommon that so many men feel pressured to put up a strong and tough front, and not to show any emotions. Because, “men are not emotional”; “men don’t cry.” Just like women, men face discrimination too. The reason we don’t hear so much about men being discriminated against is that most men don’t speak up against it. It can be very serious in some cases. But men are very less likely to discuss their experiences. And most men don’t have an example of someone speaking up; so they don’t know if they can call it discrimination; and even if they can, to speak up or not. The major problem is that men, from a very young age, since they are small boys, are told to “man up” and to deal with their problems “like a man.” Men face discrimination when they don’t fit into stereotypes about their gender. Men who are sensitive, show emotions, or do not act so-called “masculine,” are often criticised, taunted, commented on and asked to behave more “like a man.” While we work to protect women, let’s acknowledge that sexual harassment of men is not a joke either. There are increasing instances of men being on the receiving end — from being a target of comments heavy with sexual innuendo to being stalked — men are supposed to be ‘men’, they are to take all of this in the spirit intended, and not feel uncomfortable and/or complain. The Six Pillars of Men’s Day are: To focus on men’s and boys’ mental and physical health. Enhancing Gender Relations. Promoting Gender Equality and well being. Focusing on discrimination against men. Promoting positive men role models. Helping in creating a safer and better world People fail to understand that men, just like women, are diverse, too. I’m pretty sure when we hear the word MAN, a lot of us imagine a masculine, not too expressive, strongly built… man. And when some guy shares his emotions, is more affectionate and delicate- he is judged? This is what builds up to “toxic masculinity.” And that’s what leads to an unspoken pressure in a boy’s mind; right from a very young age, forcing him to make himself fit into THAT definition of what a man is. • Busting Christmas Myths!

SOCIETY by Akash Khatri Busting Christmas Myths! 1 December 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Christ was born on December 25th The Bible neither gives a specific date nor even a month for the same. It’s highly unlikely that Jesus could have been born on December 25th. The Bible mentions shepherds with their cattle grazing I the field during Jesus’s birth but it’s extremely cold in December in Bethlehem and nothing grows there then. Most scholars agree that Jesus was born sometime near the end of September based on biblical clues. Xmas is sacrilegious Many Christians view the removing have “Christ” out of Christmas as a sacrilege and replacing it with an X. But if you notice the word “Christ” in greek is written as “Χριστός.”. Chi is also written as an X in the roman alphabet so hence it is not wrong either. Santa Claus or Father Christmas and St. Nicholas are synonyms Saint Nicholas of Myra, also known as Nicholas of Bari or Nicholas the WonderWorker, was an early Christian bishop of Greek descent from the maritime city of Myra in Asia Minor during the time of the Roman Empire. He performed many miracles attributed to his intercession. While Santa Claus is a legendary character originating in Western Christian culture who is said to bring gifts to the homes of well-behaved children on the night of Christmas Eve or during the early morning hours of Christmas Day. The little drummer boy There is no Biblical interpretation of any kind of a drummer boy playing the drum as loudly as possible to baby Jesus. Wishing “happy holidays” is wrong If taken literally the word holiday means ‘holy day’. Celebrating the birth of Jesus is certainly holy and saying happy holidays definitely isn’t taking “Christ out of Christmas.” Midnight Mass is at 0:0 The schedule is in fact quite flexible, some churches start the service at midnight while some start by 10 or 11 pm and end it by 12. Since 2009, the Pope has celebrated this Mass at 10:00 pm, and as a result, the official liturgical designation of these texts has been Mass during the Night since 2009. However, when the Mass does occur at midnight, it is still commonly called “Midnight Mass”. Christmas cards are a tradition It was a Victorian businessman who made the Christmas card an American tradition. People did not send Christmas cards before the idle of the 19th century. Boxing day People consider boxing day to be the day to box up all those presents you don’t want and return them to the shops. But actually, it began in the middle ages in the UK where churches would open their collection boxes and distribute money to the poor. The three wise men As per Matthew, “ magi” who are wise men not kings came from the east looking for the King of the Jews to Jerusalem bearing precious gifts for Jesus when he was born but it never mentions the number or names of the men. Also, the bible mentions Jesus being a young child not an infant at that time. Surprisingly there is no mention of Jesus sleeping in a manger in any of the religious literature. People assume it to be “three” in number because there is a mention of three gifts – gold, frankincense and myrrh. Christmas is the most important No, its easter which lasts about two months and commemorates the rising of Jesus from the dead into the eternal life. Easter is so sacred as it celebrates the resurrection of the son of god and triumphs over death. Jingle bells is a Christmas song Though it is now one of the most loved Christmas songs out there it wasn’t initially meant to be. Originally titled One Horse Open Sleigh, It was initially written in the 1850s for American thanksgiving by composer James Lord Pierpont who penned it for his Sunday school class. The lyrics were later modified to fit Christmas. • 10 Must Try Classic Cocktails

by Akash Khatri 10 Must Try Classic Cocktails 7 July 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement You can’t go wrong with a classic cocktail. Whether you’re craving a tried-and-true Dark N Stormy, or a posh Cosmo. Here are 10 must try Classic Cocktails. COSMOPOLITAN: The origin of the Cosmopolitan is disputed. But one popular story is that the Cosmo was created by a college student named Neal Murray. He did not get the job just because of the management’s racism. But once while they were all away for a weekend for an event, the staff snuck him in. In three days, they trained him. And by the time the management returned, his talent and skill made them accept him as the new bartender. One night he was experimenting with the cocktail, Kamikaze. He discovered that adding a splash of cranberry juice to the drink gave it a delightful pink color, and a delicious fruity punch. When someone asked him what it was, he said he didn’t know. The customer responded by calling it “very Cosmopolitan”, which is how it got the name. SCREWDRIVER: Why would one call a drink made of vodka and juice “screwdriver”? The screwdriver originated when American Oil workers in the oil fields of Turkey, started adding vodka to their orange juice, for an extra kick. And since they didn’t have any spoons handy, they stirred it with screwdrivers. That explains the name. And since they weren’t supposed to be drinking on the job, “Screwdriver” was an easy way to refer to it without ginning it away. TOM COLLINS: In 1874, there was a mass prank going around in New York in which people used to tell their friends that a man named Tom Collins had been spreading nasty rumors about him or her in a nearby bar. People would then go to the local pub and ask for Tom Collins. The bartender of the pub heard that joke too many times and got an idea. After that, the next time somebody ran into the bar demanding to see Tom Collins; the bartender gave a refreshing gin cocktail. LONG ISLAND ICED TEA: A consistent theme with classic cocktails- the Long Island Iced Tea also has multiple origin stories. Some claim the drink originated during the prohibition, when an older gentleman with an entrepreneurial spirit created a cocktail to look like iced tea as a way to drink by disguise. Not only did the iced tea look aesthetic, but also having five different alcohols definitely added to the appeal. MARTINI: Martini is a mixture of gin and dry vermouth. In the early 1860s, people used to frequently go to the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco and order bartender Jerry Thomas’s special mixture of gin and dry vermouth. And then they would take an evening ferry to the nearby town of Martinez. The bartender later named his signature cocktail ‘Martini’ in reference to the destination people headed to after consuming the drink. MOJITO: A 16th century in Cuba holds resemblance to the modern-day Mojito. This mixture of mint, rum, sugar, and lime juice was originally made with a harsh liquor called aguardiente. The lime juice and sugar used to cut the hard taste. The name of the drink comes from a Cuban spice made from limes, called mojo. BLOODY MARY: In the 1920s, Fernand Petiot, an American mixed up equal parts tomato juice and vodka. A patron in the bar suggested he call the drink “Bloody Mary.” He said it reminded him of the Bucket of Blood Club in Chicago, and a girl he knew there named Mary. When he took the recipe to New York, the people weren’t too impressed at first. They said the drink tasted a bit bland. He added black pepper, cayenne pepper, Worcestershire sauce, lemon and a splash of tabasco pepper sauce, for those who wanted it. And that’s how an American classic was born. DARK N STORMY: Made of spicy ginger beer and rich Gosling’s Black Seal dark rum, the drink allegedly got its name from an old sailor who compared the drink’s murky hue to the color of storm clouds. An old fisherman commented on how it looked, comparing it to a cloud “only a fool or dead man would sail under.” It’s an unproven legend. But the drink’s connection to the joys and dangers of seafaring is well-established. BELLINI: This delightful wine cocktail is a blend of white peach puree and Prosecco. Giuseppe Cipriani, started mixing up the fruity tipples in 1934 and the pink color of the drink reminded him of a saint’s toga from a painting by Italian Renaissance artist Giovanni Bellini. Thus, he named his cocktail ‘Bellini’ in honor of the painter and his artwork. MARGARITA: There is an old drink which is a mix of brandy, triple sec, and lemon juice; called the Daisy. A bartender in Tijuana, Mexico was making a Daisy and accidentally grabbed a bottle of tequila instead of brandy. The accident became a hit at the bar. And it was then made famous as a new drink called Margarita, the Spanish word for the Daisy. • How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe

How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe by Priti Sharma How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe 7 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Despite having a wardrobe full of clothing, do you ever tell yourself, "I have nothing to wear." I know firsthand how irritating it can be to have an overflowing wardrobe full of clothes we may not particularly enjoy wearing. Can you genuinely say that you wear every piece of clothing in your closet? If the answer is no, keep reading to learn how to begin effectively cleaning your closet and creating a wardrobe that you will want to wear every day. But first, what is a capsule wardrobe anyway? A capsule wardrobe is a collection of carefully chosen, classic pieces that never go out of style. (Your closet already has a capsule wardrobe.) The things in a capsule wardrobe are the ones you adore wearing every day. Many minimalists contend that a capsule wardrobe should consist of between 30 and 50 things for the whole year, but I disagree. A capsule wardrobe should be created around your lifestyle and comprise items that you enjoy wearing and that make you happy. How to start a capsule wardrobe? Step 1: Analyze your style and lifestyle: Knowing our style is the first step to creating a wardrobe you will enjoy. You can take a style quiz to gain a general idea of what kind dominates in your life. Step 2: Track what you like to wear for 30 days: There are many ways to do this, either by manually tracking down what you wore every day in a notebook or in the note app on your mobile phone whenever and wherever and whatever comes to your mind while working or walking through the park, or while listening to some music. Step 3: The closet clean-out! You will have a better idea of your existing capsule wardrobe that currently exists in your closet after tracking what you wore effortlessly for 30 days. There is no magic number; creating a capsule wardrobe is about choosing the clothes you want to wear. Of course, you'll have gorgeous formal gowns you wear to weddings once a year, as well as your athletic wear and loungewear. They are not included in your capsule. Think of your capsule as your “go-to” rack of things you love to wear every day based on your lifestyle. The second pile represents the bulk of the job; it is now time to classify the remaining items. Before organizing, examine each thing to ensure that the idea of wearing it in the future makes you joyful. I would just get rid of it if it makes you feel guilty or like you have to wear it for "x reason." Sort your clothing into these categories: all-year fundamentals, Summer and spring, autumn and winter, and sell/donate pile. Keep track of the number of things you have in each category before deciding whether to create an annual or seasonal capsule. Although every one of us has a different lifestyle, it's crucial to continue wearing the clothes we enjoy. I personally enjoy creating seasonal capsule wardrobes because it declutters my closet by putting away the things I won't be using, and it allows me to view everything I have for the current season and think of new ways to style and wear the same items. I find it really energizing and enjoyable that when the seasons change, your old clothing transforms into your "new capsule" without the need to shop! Step 4: Define your colors / create a color palette to guide your future shopping: When creating a capsule wardrobe, a color palette is something optional but highly helpful because it serves as a shopping reference. Following the experiment of wearing 30 different products for 30 days, you will discover which colors you like to wear again. These colors may then be added to your color palette reference guide, giving you a direction for choosing colors when you go shopping in the future. Step 5: Map out your capsule and create a wishlist for missing items: It's time to develop a mental or visual map of your capsule or capsules to assist you to purchase less now that you've chosen your basics and given what you don't enjoy. If, after categorizing your wardrobe, you discovered that many of your "all-year staples" can be worn in the fall and winter, you no longer have an excuse to buy a new sweater. Instead, you should experiment with layering and set a goal for yourself to wear your sweaters throughout the year. Making a checklist of how many additional tops you believe you could need can help you finish your spring capsule wardrobe. You might have discovered during your closet clean-out that you don't have enough new and breathable tops for spring. Step 6: Rewear before you have the urge to buy again: This is the stage when you learn to be more creative, thus I believe it to be my favorite. I try to make myself put on an item from my closet that I haven't worn in a while whenever I feel the want to purchase it. It's acceptable to just get rid of it and donate it to someone who might enjoy and re-wear it more than you if you try to re-wear anything and you don't feel confident or attractive in it. We never have the perfect closet, and occasionally we hang onto things because we are not used to letting go. Step 7: Invest in quality over quantity, your clothes shouldn’t cost as much as your cup of coffee, and here’s why: Learn about the fibers used in the clothing you buy, as well as the implications of tossing away clothing, if you want to become a more deliberate consumer. Did you know that 85% of textile waste in the USA ends up in landfills? Rewearing is the main way to lessen your fashion footprint. If you must purchase anything new, consider buying used items or supporting firms that are ethical, sustainable, and that use natural and organic textiles as well as recycled materials when producing their clothing. Sometimes, environmentally friendly clothing may cost more than conventional clothing, but this is only because environmentally friendly manufacturers pledge to pay their employees a fair salary and to use only premium, natural, or recycled materials. Your clothing shouldn't be as expensive as your morning brew. We must develop the habit of paying reasonable rates for goods. #Fashion #Capsule Wardrobe #Clothing #collection #Style #Colours SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah The Pursuit Of Comfort: Body By Victoria’s Secret Redefines The Everyday Bra 18 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

Single parenthood if not self chosen could be a disaster for the parent itself ,juggling between kids, work, household and what not as if you’ve to do single handed plank when your core isn’t used to it. However, I fear for self chosen single parenting because the shrinkage from joint families to single parent families are somewhere responsible in the upbringing and personality development of a child as well. How are they supposed to learn actions oriented moral ethics and values if they are not getting various people to observe in their house. In a nutshell, the pursuit of single parenthood must be a big no ,no matter how much it’s covered or layered with positive attributes, it’s hard for both the child and the parent and we as humans don’t opt for harder things by nature, do we ? #family #singleparent #singleparenthood #society SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? • Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern

SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern 16 July 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In India, this socially viable topic catches many eyeballs on discussion forums, political rallies and media galleries. We have often seen philanthropists, social entities or de crème de la crème of the society embellishing their views to fight for the profoundly rooted theories of Gender Equality, Equal participation, democratic decision making and most specifically Women Emancipation. But the recorded statistics provoke us to unleash the peel of these heated discussions which might sound very promising but lack the realistic angle. For instance, in many parts of our country sex ratio has dropped to fewer than 850 females per 1000 males. India is ranked 132 out of 148 countries on Gender Inequality Index as per the 2013 Global Human Development Report. The crimes against women fly directly against orchestrating women empowerment in India. A report on the crime against women by National Crime Records Bureau justifies the statement with some alarming facts and figures: Crime Head – % Variation in 2012 over 2011 Rape (Sec.376 IPC) – 3% Kidnapping & Abduction (Sec.363 to 373 IPC) – 7.6 % Torture (Sec.498-A IPC) – 7.5 % Dowry Death (Sec. 302/304 IPC) – 4.5 % Molestation (Sec.354 IPC) – 5.5 % Sexual Harassment (Sec. 509 IPC) – 7.0% Importation of Girls (Sec 366 – B IPC) – 26.3% This ironical phase of Women Empowerment is the central protagonist of our concern. We have a sense that holistic development cannot be imagined without the vigorous participation of women but like a silent admirer we are calmly supporting the fragmentary concept of Marginalization. No matter what our esteemed leaders said or done. But women have always been marginalized and ostracized as undesirable members of our society. No forum has been constructed to rationalize the Tag of “Second Citizen” which we bestow to this clique of women. Societal prism gives a stereotypical account of Empowerment which defines- “Empowerment” is the mere craftsmanship of an environment where women can make independent decisions on their personal development as well as shine as equals in society. But this definition does not channelize a concrete route which could actually lead women to this illusory environment. In spite of having epic discussion on this topic, this marginalized group is deprived of the mainstay of Empowerment i.e. Pride of Self Accomplishment and Self Supporting. Often Empowerment is seen as a force from the outer world like NGOs, Social groups or Govt. who stretches their hands to this neglected clan, but this disquieting issue cannot be faded without encouraging and developing skills for, Self Sufficiency, with a spotlight on eliminating the future need of any superficial assistance. For instance, instead of equipping them with peripheral aid, this band of victims must be encouraged to create their own non-profits organisation, using the rationale that only these marginalized people, themselves, can know their own people need most, that control of the organization must be centralized in their hands only. If women were empowered to take dynamic partaking in the organized sectors of the society, the possibility for economic growth becomes perceptible. Empowering women in developing countries is critical to curtail global poverty since women represent most of the world’s poor population. Eliminating a significant part of the nation’s workforce on the sole basis of gender can have detrimental effects on the economy of that nation. In addition, female participation in counsels, groups, and businesses is seen to aggrandize competence. For a general idea on how an empowered women can impact a framework monetarily, a study found that of Fortune 500 companies, “those with more women board directors had significantly higher financial returns, including 53% higher returns on equity, 24% higher return on sales and 67% higher returns on invested capital (OECD, 2008).This study shows the impression that women can have all round economic benefits of a Co. If implemented strategically on a global scale, the inclusion of women in the formal workforce can provide an edge to the economic productivity of a nation. But as discussed in the initial episodes of this article, there are several challenges that are currently plaguing the issues of women’s rights in India. The native goal of empowerment can only be achieved by targeting these issues. Studies of this paradigm say – Education is the core element that can either make or mar the authenticity of empowerment. While the country has grown from leaps and bounds since its independence where education is concerned, the gap between women and men is ruthless. While 82.14% of adult men are educated, only 65.46% of adult women are known to be literate in India. Not only is an illiterate woman damsels in distress but aloof from the errands of this cosmetic world. Additionally, the norms of culture that title the man as the alpha and omega of family decisions are gradually spoiling the society of the country. Poverty is considered the greatest threat to peace in the world, and due to hopeless poverty, women are exploited as domestic helps and wives whose incomes are usurped by the man of the house. Even the horrifying reality of sex slaves are a direct outcome of poverty only. The third pal of these two unpromising causes is Health & Safety. The health & safety concern of women are paramount for the wellbeing of a country, and most importantly a vital factor in gauging the empowerment of women in a country. However there are threatening statistics where maternal healthcare is concerned In its 2009 report, UNICEF came up with shocking figures on the status of Indian mothers in India. The maternal mortality report of India stands at 301 per 1000, with as many as 78000 women in India dying of childbirth complications in that year. We can’t deny that there are several series of programmes that have been set into motion by the Govt. and several NGOs in the country to bridge up the dead pan gap between these gender conflicts but these external bodies can only conceal the problem. If we really want to get liberated of this dual world in terms of Gender, then, the strapping pole of Marginalization must be shunned and men oriented fiefdom syndrome must be broken into unbreakable pieces. In short, Empowerment is not an ostentatious or grandiloquence portrayal of outer self but an honest urge to get unshackled from the rotten dogmas of society and earn the power of “Self”. • Divorce - Not A Big Deal

SOCIETY by Mudita Bagla Divorce - Not A Big Deal 24 January 2023 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Marriages happen. Every individual who gets married wishes for a blissful married life. But do all marriages really work out? No, absolutely not. There are many reasons for the same. Just like marriage, divorce too is a chapter of life which starts when the chapter of marriage ends. That's it. When everyone around us supports and accepts our marriages, why should divorce be any different? Why, then, is it treated as a crime or something that one should be ashamed of? Divorce is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a blessing in disguise which takes you out of the worst phase of your life. Divorce is future-centric and gives a new meaning and purpose to our life, a life which may have become meaningless. We have some great examples of men and women in India and around the world doing incredibly well in their lives after they got divorced. Criticising a person's divorce is the easiest thing people can do, but the one who goes through it knows it's the best decision they could have made for themselves. Marriage is definitely an important part of a person's life but life is not only just about marriage; there is so much more to it than just that. Once you are divorced, people may judge you, doubt your character or even think that you have a mental illness, and if by chance they see you happy, then that will raise a huge question for the so-called society. "Look at him/her; how can he/she be happy?" But that's their thinking and we shouldn't bother at all. Being divorced is much better than being a living corpse. People often give up their life due to unhappy marriages. And you know what? Let's talk about divorce as positively and normally as we talk about marriage. Things don’t always happen as we expect them to, and that’s all right. Live and let others live on their own terms. Spread positivity! SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world?
