  • I want a chance to play different kinds of roles: Ishita Dutta talks about her career, upcoming projects and being typecast in certain roles

by Rupashree Ravi I want a chance to play different kinds of roles: Ishita Dutta talks about her career, upcoming projects and being typecast in certain roles 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Advertisement Popular actress and model, Ishita Dutta is known for her versatile roles in both films and television shows. In an exclusive interview, the actress, who is currently shooting for Drishyam 2, spoke about her experience in the industry and the kind of roles she wants to explore. In this ever-changing industry where there is immense talent and competition, leaving a mark is often not easy. It needs a lot of hard work and dedication, along with luck, Dutta shared. “In any industry, leaving a mark when you are really good at your job is very hard. But in our industry, there’s also a little bit of luck factor which I feel exists at the right place and at the right time. Sometimes, you may be perfect for a certain role but somebody else might get it. I really do believe in destiny and luck, but that doesn’t take away the fact that you have to work hard, be very talented and do a great job to leave that mark. In the end, the audience needs to love you and your work,” she added. Dutta started her career in 2012, starring in the Telugu film Chanakyudu. The following year, she made her television debut in the Star Plus serial Ek Ghar Banaunga. Since then, she has gone on to star in many television serials, music videos and films. Talking about her experience so far as an actress, she said, “My experience in this industry has been fabulous. I, of course, want to do a lot more projects and there’s a lot to explore. Sometimes I feel I still haven’t gotten certain opportunities that I wish for in terms of roles or certain projects or working with certain people, but I believe that will happen in time. But I have had a very good experience with all the people I have worked with so far. They’ve been very nice and supportive. I have learnt and enjoyed a lot. I love everything about being an actor.” In 2015, Dutta made her Bollywood film debut with Drishyam, alongside Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran. The film was a big success and Dutta received positive reviews for her performance as Anju Salgaonkar, the daughter of Ajay Devgn’s character. “We have started filming for Drishyam 2 and I’m really excited about it. It’s happening after six years and I think people are going to enjoy it. The film is also more interesting than the first part, so I’m really looking forward to it. There’s another film that I’d be working on with my husband, Vatsal. We’re going to be back on screen after a really long time. Apart from these, there are a couple of projects lined up at the end of this year, which I’m excited about,” she said, while talking about her current and upcoming projects. Actresses usually have role models who inspire and influence their careers. They cite great actors as their inspirations. But for Dutta, inspiration is something that comes from anywhere, any platform and language. “I believe there is so much content available and you’re constantly watching so many films, characters, and actors who do such great jobs and you get inspired. There are many people, actors, and characters that have really inspired me and they make me want to do a better job every day,” she shared. When asked where she sees her acting career taking her, she said, “Honestly, I don’t think about where I’m going, where I’m headed, or what’s going to happen after a certain number of years. I look at what’s happening currently, take up good projects that come for me and make the best out of them. I try to live in the present so I’ll be happy wherever my acting career takes me. I will just follow what my destiny has in store for me.” Dutta shared that she is often typecast as a simple girl in films. She wishes to play different roles and characters. “To be very honest, I still feel I haven’t really played a character who is very different. I somehow tend to get very similar characters like the girl next door. I have not really done an outright negative role. I did play a cop in the action film, Blank. I had to do a lot of action in the film and my body language was very different, which I enjoyed. But I think most of my characters have been very positive and simple. This is what I really want to change as an actor. I want a chance to play different kinds of roles and do something that is different from what people normally presume me to be,” she added. The entertainment industry can be a hard place for actresses, who are often body shamed and trolled in social media. Women empowerment and body positivity is much needed in the industry. Dutta shared her views on feminism and said, “I totally support women empowerment and I am absolutely against people who body shame others. Body shaming has been happening for decades and its high time people be sensitive toward others. Let people make decisions about their own bodies. Everyone has a different body type. You can be of any shape and size. I believe people should simply focus on being healthy, eating right, and sleeping on time.” Further, she thanked her fans and viewers for all their love and support. She advised the younger generation not to get influenced by the glamour of social media. “Don’t let negativity and trolls get to you. Try to be grounded and stand up for other people,” she added. Vatnajökull Glacier: Remember the place where Elsa and her sister (from the Disney movie Frozen) lived? Well, if you do then this is one place that will leave you awestruck. Vatnajökull Glacier is a world made of ice. It is best known for its mystical caves that are constantly shifting their existence from one place to another. Thus, it is advisable for the first-time visitors to hire a guide before entering this winter wonderland. This maze-like formation is Europe’s largest glacier and also covers more than 8% of the entire area of the entire country. Soak yourself in the adventurous vibe of this place and do not forget to click pictures! Best time to visit: November to March (during this time, the ice caves are stable and that makes your tour better) Reykjavik : One of the most popular Iceland tourist places, Reykjavik takes the credit for its whale watching tours. Remember Keiko from Free Willy? Well, the killer whale was captured in a camera in a marine site close to Reykjavik. There is a 90% chance that you will get to spot the giant creature during a single tour in the middle of the ocean. The ride to whale watching usually starts from Reykjavik’s Old Harbour and lasts for about an hour or so. Once you see the magnificent creatures, do not forget to capture them in your cameras. Pssst… Here's a tip for you, go for the ringside seat to witness the amazing phenomenon. This place is also flushed with quaint cafes, vibrant bars, and stunning restaurants. Grundarfjordur is located at a distance of 3 hours from Reykjavik and outlines the north coast of Snaefellsnes peninsula . The peninsula has been nicknamed as ‘Iceland in miniature’ and is home to the glorious Snæfellsjökull glacier. This twin-peaked glacier is resplendently surrounded by lava fields and three coastlines as it sits on the peninsular tip of a volcano. Thus, this adds as another reason for visiting the beautiful village. Best time to visit: All year round. Lake Myvatn : Located close to Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland, Lake Myvatn is known for its mystical formation that comprises a treasure of gems and flora of moss balls. Nature lovers find themselves at ease near and around this lake. One can also spot both indigenous and exotic species of birds during summer season as they form various formations in a single flight above the lake area. Another thing that makes this lake quite exclusive is its incredible geology. When looked from a distance, one will notice that the lake is outlined by pseudo volcanic craters that make the water body look quite mysterious. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, then you must know that one of the most famous love scenes in the series was shot in this area. Grjótagjá hot spring is another major attraction found near this lake. It is carefully hidden in a cave in the lava field of Dimmuborgir. • Vitiligo's Representation In Fashion

By Anushka Sharma Vitiligo's Representation In Fashion 15 March 2024 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement In recent years, the fashion industry has made significant strides in embracing diversity and inclusivity, challenging traditional beauty standards and celebrating individuality. One of the most notable shifts has been the increased representation of individuals with vitiligo, a skin condition characterized by the loss of pigment in certain areas of the skin, resulting in white patches. Historically, the fashion industry has been criticized for its narrow portrayal of beauty, often favoring models with flawless, uniform skin tones. However, in a welcome departure from this norm, many fashion brands and designers have begun to cast models with vitiligo, recognizing the unique beauty and strength they bring to the runway. One of the pioneers in promoting vitiligo representation in fashion is the late model Winnie Harlow. Discovered on the hit television show "America's Next Top Model," Harlow has since become a prominent figure in the fashion world, using her platform to raise awareness about vitiligo and advocate for greater inclusivity in the industry. Her success has inspired other models with vitiligo to pursue careers in fashion, breaking down barriers and challenging perceptions along the way. Fashion brands have also played a crucial role in promoting diversity by featuring models with vitiligo in their campaigns and runway shows. From high-end luxury labels to mainstream retailers, brands are increasingly embracing models of all skin types and colors, reflecting the diverse spectrum of beauty in society. Beyond the runway, vitiligo representation in fashion has also extended to advertising and marketing campaigns. Major beauty brands have featured models with vitiligo in their advertisements, sending a powerful message of acceptance and empowerment to consumers around the world. These campaigns not only promote diversity but also help to destigmatize skin conditions like vitiligo, encouraging individuals to embrace their unique characteristics with confidence. In addition to fostering greater representation, the fashion industry has also seen a rise in the creation of clothing lines specifically designed for individuals with vitiligo. These lines often feature garments with innovative designs and color-blocking techniques, helping individuals with vitiligo to feel more comfortable and confident in their clothing choices. Furthermore, the rise of social media has provided a platform for individuals with vitiligo to share their stories and connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges. Through platforms like Instagram and YouTube, influencers and advocates with vitiligo have been able to amplify their voices, raising awareness and promoting acceptance in the fashion community and beyond. While progress has undoubtedly been made, there is still much work to be done to ensure that individuals with vitiligo are fully represented and included in the fashion industry. This includes not only increasing visibility on the runway and in advertising but also advocating for greater accessibility and inclusivity in the design and production of clothing. In conclusion, vitiligo's representation in fashion marks a significant step forward in the ongoing journey towards greater diversity and inclusivity. By celebrating the beauty of individuality and challenging traditional beauty standards, the fashion industry has the power to inspire change and foster a more inclusive society for all. • 5 by 5 Rule

by Akash Khatri 5 by 5 Rule 1 November 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement A very close friend introduced me to this coincidentally 5 years back after I had been ranting about my messy day. Since then life has been a bit simpler, it goes like, “If it’s not going to matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes upset by it.” It didn’t make sense to me the first time too. Sounds pretty simple on paper I know, it’s difficult in reality. You won’t get used to it overnight, it will surely take a while but I promise once you do, things just seem to sort themselves. Things fall apart, they always do. I think it’s the basic law of human living. You will have challenges, changes and trials. It’s a part and parcel of a game called life. You need to accept the ugly bitter pills just like the sweet candies. It’s just the way it is supposed to be maybe. It can’t be flowers and rainbows all the way. There might be days with a little blood, tears and sweat too but it will all be worth it in the end. Sometimes decision fatigue gets overwhelming. When you can’t really think what to do, whether to keep thinking about something or not. At such times the 5 by 5 rule comes to the rescue. You can’t care about everything and anything; you have to choose what to care about. The only way to filter is this. It is highly effective in the long run and this is me talking from personal experience, tried and tested. It can be applied from the tiniest snarky comment someone passed on your dress to your workplace issues. Whenever in doubt, just ask yourself once “will it matter in the next five years?” if yes, work on it, find a solution, leave no stone unturned for it but if you get an answer in the negative, drop it right there. You will soon realize that what anyone else thinks about the colour of your dress or your new hairstyle or your handwriting won’t ever matter, they won’t even remember it after a week or so but you somewhere it might leave a mark on your heart and you would continue pondering over their nasty remarks. My heart always got the better of my brain while making decisions, it’s not bad but equilibrium is necessary. This rule helped me get a perspective around issues. Those gigantic dilemmas weren’t that bad. I realized a lot of issues had very simple solutions. You just had to know the trick to handle. Neil Armstrong once said, “I believe that every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don’t intend to waste any of mine.” We all have limited time. We have to make our choices, they might not always be wise but mistakes are the greatest teachers. This has become my life’s litmus test. It saved me from a lot of futile thinking; I hope it helps you declutter too. #wise #test #accept #limited #dilemma #rule #Reality #decision #issue #finite #litmus #help #Life #sense #time #sort #fivebyfive #thinking #save #overwhelming #simpler #equilibrium SEARCH Countdown To History: Omega Unveils Paris 2024 Olympics Countdown Clock And Special Edition Timepiece LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE Personal Growth And Relatability: Ishita Khanna's Key To Influencer Success LIFESTYLE 6 Disadvantages Of Being Pretty LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist 17 April 2024 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Sharma How Do Some People Not Get Acne No Matter What 15 April 2024 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Sharma Kate Middleton’s Story Has Only Gotten Worse With Time 18 March 2024 LIFESTYLE By Rini Pathak The Skill Of Ageing Gracefully: Secrets From The Land Of Longevity 17 March 2024 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing

by Rupashree Ravi Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing 4 August 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Gender equality in the workplace is still a pipe dream for many. Education, discrimination, societal norms, and other factors affect women’s occupational choices and their pay. It is known that women are paid significantly lesser than men for the same work they do, whether it is paid domestic labour or a desk job. This is despite the fact that over the last several decades, millions of women have joined the workforce and have also made huge gains in their educational attainment. All this means that the gender pay gap is real. It also hurts women by suppressing their earnings and making it harder for them to keep a balance between work and family. The gender pay gap is essentially the average difference between the remuneration received by working men and women. But it is more nuanced as the pay gaps can be unadjusted or adjusted. The former is much starker as it simply differentiates between the mean and median wages of the two genders, while the latter takes into account differences in factors such as occupation, education, and job experience. Women are often blamed for not earning more “Worldwide, women only make 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. This results in a lifetime of income inequality between men and women and more women retiring into poverty.” This kind of inequality can be seen in all countries and across all sectors because women’s work is undervalued and they also tend to be concentrated in different jobs than men. Even though the nature of the work may require equal or more effort and skills, it is still valued and remunerated less. The gap widens for women of colour, immigrant women, and mothers, which pushes them into casual and part-time work in the informal economy. This kind of phenomenon is common and much larger in developing countries than in developed countries. It is alarming to know that in a country like India, the reasons for the pay gap are much more complicated. Girl students are forced to drop out of school and are married off, and even if they are educated, many women are not allowed to work by their families. Women who join the workforce often need to take extended leaves for maternity and child care, and even the healthcare of other family members. To top it all, they also take care of household duties like cooking and cleaning. All these factors lead to women’s earnings falling behind men’s over time. Women are forced to micro-manage at their workplace and home We have to understand why the gender wage gap exists and how we can tackle it, without shifting the blame to women for not earning more. Our economy itself provides unequal opportunities for women at every point of their education, training, and career choices. As a result, women tend to choose jobs that pay less, according to a study. They disproportionately enter lower-paid, and female-dominated occupations. However, this decision is shaped by discrimination, societal norms, and other forces beyond their control. Employers also choose to prefer men over women for the same positions and roles due to factors such as motherhood penalties. “Equal pay for work of equal value” The bottom line, however, is that socio-economic disparity and patriarchal power structures expose women to more unpaid care work and land the weight of multi-dimensional work, including primary caretaking on them. Factors like non-inclusivity and sexual harassment in the workplace further pressurise them to opt out of their career prospects. Studies reveal that it will 195 years to overcome the gender pay gap in India This is why we need to expand paid family and medical leave and improve the overall work-life balance. Paid paternity leaves for men are also a great start so that they can help at home as well and lift the burden from women. Implementation of stricter laws like the Equal Pay Act at the state and national levels will help to reduce the widening pay gap. Lastly, gender-sensitive employment practices and measures to reduce sexual harassment in the workplace are the need of the hour all across the world. #Feminism #GenderPayGap #Representation #Patriarchy #WorkplaceInclusivity #GenderSensitisation SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Breaking Barrier And Redefining Inclusivity Conduct Of Para Events: Shaping Of A Better Future By Mithibai Kshitij 19 January 2024 SOCIETY by Mudita Bagla Divorce - Not A Big Deal 24 January 2023 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • The Lockdown Masks

by Aiyra Baig The Lockdown Masks 1 November 2020 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement During these trying times, skincare seems like a great idea. All these days at home are actually a blessing for our skin; no dust, dirt, travelling, pollution, junk food or the harsh sun. Therefore, no damage and happy skin. With all the extra time at hand, go an extra mile and pamper your face with some homemade face masks made from ingredients you can find in your kitchen cabinet. Grandma’s secret – Besan Face mask Mix besan (split chickpea flour) with a pinch of turmeric, milk and rose water. Scrub it on your face in a circular motion and wait for it to dry. Rinse with close water in 5-10 minutes. Besan helps to absorb excess oil from the skin including impurities while also retaining moisture. Caffeine Hydration Mix one tablespoon each of coffee powder and honey well together. Apply and wash it off after 10 minutes. Coffee is rich in antioxidants, kills cells and removes impurities, making the skin smoother and brighter. It is also an excellent exfoliator and helps in stimulating blood flow, which reduces acne and even cellulite and stretch marks. Honey acts as a moisturizer and diminishes signs of ageing. Bright Banana (*not for oily skin) Mash a ripe banana and mix it with a little bit of honey. Apply it on your face and wash off after 15 minutes. Banana is rich in potassium and helps to moisture and hydrate dry skin, making it soft and supple. It also lightens dark spots. The 101 cure mask Mix freshly prepared aloe vera gel with fresh cucumber paste/juice, yoghurt and honey. Cleanse your face and leave this face mask for 20-30 minutes. Using this twice a week helps to detan your skin. Aloe vera also has antibacterial properties which helps to treat pimples and acne, giving a smooth skin texture. it also lightens your skin and removes blemishes and dark spots, effectively de-pigmenting your skin. Egg peel off Add a few drops of lemon juice to an egg-white mix well. Apply it well over your face and neck, wait for it to dry and peel it off with water. Egg whites shrinks your pores, firms your skin by removing excess dirt, oil and dead cells on your face while also removing blackheads. Lemon juice naturally contains vitamin C, an antioxidant that may help reduce skin damage and premature ageing. Due to its high pH levels, it has astringent qualities; lemon can decrease oil on the skin and reduce inflammation. Oat scrub Make a smooth paste by mixing oatmeal, honey and rosewater. Scrub it well and leave it on for ten minutes before rinsing with water. Oatmeal contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin. This face mask gives you instant radiant-looking skin. #impurities #cells #supple #eggwhite #rosewater #blemishes #honey #moisture #irritated #banana #tumeric #brighter #stimulating #milk #dryskin #clean #lighten #exfoliator #pamper #blackheads #acne #itchy #damage #pores #yoghurt #smoother #skincare #shrink #dark #soft #oatmeal #pimples #oil #kitchen #flow #coffee #ingredients #besan #detan #radiant #antibacterial #lemon #hydrate #spots #skin #cucumber #ageing #inflammation #facemask #blood SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma These Fashion Trends Are Literally Scary For Your Health 1 April 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma India Is Finally Having A Major Fashion Moment 23 March 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Fashion Trends: What's Hot In 2024 22 March 2024 FASHION By Anushka Sharma Is Africa The Next World Leader In Fashion 20 March 2024 FASHION RELATED POSTS

  • Re-Discover The Charm Of Old-School Travel With A Total Digital Detox!

by Yashi Srivastava Re-Discover The Charm Of Old-School Travel With A Total Digital Detox! 21 February 2023 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement What is that one thing we can’t go a day without? No prizes for guessing; it’s the internet! We can’t get enough of this world of the digital vortex. Thus, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that we have become captive of internet technology to the point where we need a digital detox from time to time or let it take the better of us. Let’s accept that traditional ways of paying bills, playing games (we mean outdoors), calling people, clicking photographs, etc., are so old school! While we cannot go back to standing in lines for hours to pay the bills, we can certainly apply some old-school charm to our travels. Back in the day, travelers and explorers only had winds or maps to guide them to a new destination – and they hardly ever faltered! So, we at L’utopia, decided to take you back to the good days when nobody knew the word digital and yet traveled far and around the globe! The article will help you understand why a digital travel detox is an absolute necessity in the current world and how to switch to the old-world travel patterns so that the next time you go on a trip, you can re-discover the charm and beauty; of old-school travel! Why Go for a digital detox? When was the last time you unplugged from your cell phone/laptop/social media for 24 hours? If your answer is, ‘I don’t know,’ you, my friend, need a digital detox. Every time we get out of control with the consumption of complex carbohydrates and gain a few extra pounds, we detoxify our bodies. In the same way, we can rely on the old-school ways to give our eyes some rest and break from the digital hullaballoo to get our minds back in their original shape. We believe that the best way to do the same is while wandering in the hills or enjoying a traditional meal with our family in a hotel away from social media and its charm - that’s when you enjoy your freedom! A vacation or a trip to your favorite destination without the stress of keeping up with social media or receiving urgent calls will make your trip worthwhile when you avoid tapping on your phone’s screen for no reason. It saves your time and energy. Ah! You’ve no idea how amazing this feeling is, and the result is extraordinary - unfiltered freedom! How to Begin with the digital detox? You can always start with limiting your use of social media – start with an hour or so and bring it down to 20 minutes a day or however it deems fit. Cut down the time of using social media with each passing day. Before setting off for your retreat, ensure you have sent all the important emails and messages and informed your friends and colleagues about the same. Also, you can provide a contact number of the hotel you’ll be staying in so that you can be contacted in case there’s an urgency. Next, you can start wearing a watch on your way out so that you break the habit of looking at your phone. Before leaving for the airport or station: Book your hotel. Get your reservations. Write down the hotel’s address. Ask the staff how to reach the hotel from the airport/station. Finally, make your travel itinerary and jot down the necessary details about the place you’re visiting so that it becomes easy for you to enjoy your time off without stressing over issues regarding where to go and how to reach there, etc. Even your hotel staff can help you with places to visit during your stay but be sure that the information you have collected is correct. How to switch from digital/online tools to old school club? Now that you’re ready to take your digital detox vacation, here are a few non-digital tools that can replace the digital ones and turn you to transform you into a total traditional traveler! Use printed maps instead of GPS- Remember that GPS will be gone when you say goodbye to your smartphone and laptops. So, try and get yourself a street map to figure out the directions to reach your hotel + other places you want to visit. It isn’t that a big task to find a map. However, trying to learn the direction on the printed maps sure is. So, if the map doesn’t work well for you, it’s better to ask for directions from locals. Payphone instead of cell phone (or borrow a phone) - As fun as it sounds, finding a working payphone in today’s world can be hectic. If you’re going for full detox, better borrow a phone to make a call. If you want to go off-grid, you’ll have to face a little uneasiness on your way, but it will add to your great memories, and trust us when we tell you that it will all be completely worth it! Browse the wilderness instead of the internet - Keep your mind off of sending a text, making a call, updating your status, or anything that involves using your phone or laptop and taking in the fresh air of the wilderness! Pay your attention to exploring a new area and absorb the beauty of lush green forests brimming with tropical trees, rambling waterfalls, infinite wild, usual bazaar scenes, delicious food, and rich culture. Send postcards to your loved ones - We agreed on no cell phones while on the trip, but if you miss your friends and family, send them some beautiful postcards of the city/place you’re vacationing. Just go to the nearby Post Office, get it stamped, and send it. Let travel agents take care of your business - Free yourself from the stress of booking tickets, hotels, getting reservations, etc., and contact a travel agent to do that job for you. Technology has made us self-sufficient to get our bookings done, but since you’re going off the grid, it is advisable to rely on a good travel agent. Take a lot of books with you - Purposelessly tapping your phone screen is a great time-killer. So, when you don’t have it, you would understand that you need to direct your attention toward something else. It is thus, suggested to bring lots of books/magazines to read while you’re on a total digital blackout. If you like e-books, well, you must re-acquaint yourself with that sweet old smell of printed books, and if you are a reader, you might not want to switch back to e-reading again! Try it! Jot down important contacts - Whatever you do, DO NOT forget to write down a few important contact numbers before leaving your home. You’re visiting a new place and plan to stay in a new environment for quite a while. So, you must keep these numbers with you all the time - it’s even better if you memorize them! Also, don’t forget to include the number of the hotel you’ll be staying in. So, keep that cell phone away, close the lid of your laptop, put that camera down and unplug yourself from the digital world! Now, pack your bags and leave for your next travel destination as an authentic explorer, and soon you’ll find a connection far better than the one you share with the internet! You can never see enough of the world with a smartphone that has a working internet connection. So, the next time you visit a new place, remember to keep it away and soak in the present moment. Blob - The beauty of old-world travel cannot be compared to the digital tours and trips. The charm and beauty of using a map to reach your destination brings tremendous joy to the explorer or wanderer - the same cannot be said in the case of a digital vagabond since there is no actual work done on their part to find that cafe, or that hill, or beach and so on. Maybe, it is time to ditch your digital tools and go on your next trip in the good old-fashioned way, and we will show you how! #DigitalDetoxTravel #TravellerWithoutPhone #DigitalDetox #TravelIsLife #NoPhoneTravel #OldSchoolTravel SEARCH 7 Abandoned Cities In India And Abroad That Are Too Beautiful To Be Forgotten TRAVEL Blue Lagoon – Iceland TRAVEL Palm Islands TRAVEL WORLD PEACE DOME TRAVEL Blood Falls In Antarctica: Explained TRAVEL POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Lakshadweep Is A Heaven In Disguise And Here Is Why 3 April 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma If Uzbekistan Isn’t On Your Travel List, Here Is Exactly Why It Should Be 21 March 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma The Fashion Capitals Of Asia: Exploring Style Beyond Borders 19 March 2024 TRAVEL By Anushka Sharma The Best Countries You Should Visit With A Budget Of Less Than A Lakh Rupees 3 March 2024 TRAVEL RELATED POSTS

  • Breaking Barrier And Redefining Inclusivity Conduct Of Para Events: Shaping Of A Better Future By Mithibai Kshitij

By Rini Pathak Breaking Barrier And Redefining Inclusivity Conduct Of Para Events: Shaping Of A Better Future By Mithibai Kshitij 19 January 2024 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Many people in the world speak a lot about inclusivity and diversity whereas there are only a few amongst them who transform their words into actions and define the real meaning of inclusivity. Fortunately, Mithibai Kshitij , situated in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India is a distinctive example of an organization that believes in action rather than ranting about equality. Mithibai Kshitij has been able to emerge as the pioneer in arranging Para Events within its educational framework among other educational institutions. It has been creating and even rewriting history by being the only college festival to host Para Events. This year too has not been any different and the Mithibai Kshitij has perpetuated its tradition by hosting Para Events for the specially-abled children on the 7th of January. The event was dedicated especially to these children to showcase their caliber in front of all. The organization of the event demonstrated nothing but the college’s devotion towards the provision of a platform that embraced equality and inclusivity where everyone regardless of their physical appearance was welcomed to showcase their unique skills. The respective Para Events consisted of four different genres. Each of which were designed with caution allowing the individuals to celebrate their own unique and diverse talents. These four categories included: Rang Manch, Pitch Perfect, Para Talent Show, and Cascade of Colours. The ‘Rang Manch’ was an event of dance competition that was presided over by the famous dance choreographer, Noorin Sha . The event saw various participants mesmerizing everyone including Sha with their enchanting performances. The event, ‘Pitch Perfect’ was an affair of singing competition where the specially-abled participants’ talent of singing was showcased. The event highlighted the melodic voices of the participants and was judged by the celebrated music expert, Arvinder Singh . The ‘Para Talent Show’ was a platform where each participant was able to impress everyone by flaunting diverse skills. This show was presided over by the distinguished actor, Jay Soni . The last but not the least event, ‘Cascade of Colours’ consisted of a painting competition. Isha Kamal , an expert artist, provided a significant assessment of the talented participants who displayed their artistic caliber. The extremely talented judges’ panel brought along with them an abundance of expertise to provide appraisal and examine the spellbounding performances showcased by the young talents throughout the various events. A cherry on the cake was the enchanting enactment by the Magician who was able to mesmerize everyone and infuse a luminous radiance into the day. The Para Events was a huge success which demonstrated Mithibai Kshitij’s devotion towards the creation of a community that believes in equality and inclusivity of all individual students. The college is certain that this is not their last Para Event and promises to continue the milestone in the upcoming future too. The educational institution has even been able to set an inspiring example for other educational institutions to follow in the pursuit of inclusivity and equal opportunities for all, establishing an optimistic and supporting environment where each individual can thrive. Hence, we too must take an oath to follow the steps of Mithibai Kshitij and do our share of work for the creation of an inclusive society. • Mannat Singh, the story of an aspiring actress

by Aparajita Jaiswal Mannat Singh, the story of an aspiring actress 28 September 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Advertisement Mannat Singh is not just a successful model but also an aspiring actress and found a passion for acting through pure serendipity. A young, goofy, introvert whose life changed when she entered the world of modeling through Miss India, moving out of her shell. "I thought that there's so much more that I could do and I'm not just this shy person. I can go out there in the world and try to have big dreams and I can achieve whatever I want if I put my mind to it," Mannat goes on tell us "I am really glad that I took that scary step of coming to a different city from a town where everything was my comfort alongside my my family. Taking that leap of faith, coming here and working for my dreams every day, I feel like that is commendable and that is the reason that I do this. I want to be an actor and I love what I do. I love where my life is going to go and the direction that I'm on. And that's all that I've got." Mannat Singh expresses how as an actor she wishes to bring the character to life and also be true to the character she is playing. As an actor you're always striving and being fearless enough to take chances. "The whole point acting us to bring the character to life. Everybody has a process which is very different and it's a very subjective thing. It differs from person to person, actor to actor. So I don't think there's a set way of performing this art but I feel it depends on the person and the actor." There are several stages of being an actor in a show or a film. There are certain thrilling aspects and there are certain parts where hard work and focus is key. Mannat comments on the same, "I feel that I embrace and enjoy the whole process. From getting the script and reading the script, understanding the writer's point of view to actually bringing the character to life and adding my own personal touch, the whole process is extremely thrilling to me. When you're auditioning and you're going about the scene and performing in front of people, I feel like there comes a point for me where I'm knee deep into the character that I start improvising. So, when I'm improvising, I am really getting under the skin of the character and it's just coming really naturally to me. That is the point where I know that I can do this. That particular point is very exciting and thrilling for me." "Not having explored many genres yet, I would be really excited to do a thriller or mystery film or show but the most difficult genre to perform, in my opinion, is comedy, because I feel like if you can make the audience laugh and you know it all comes with ease to you, is the most difficult thing to do. If ever got a chance, I'm sure that I'll have to work really hard. As a person, I believe I'm funny and have a good sense of humor but while performing a comedic role, I believe it will be one of the most difficult things to do but I’d still like to explore that." Having asked what present day mega director inspires her and she would like to be directed by, Mannat answers with a slight glow in her eye as she talks about her inspiration, "The filmmaker that inspires me the most and that I would love to work with in the future is Sanjay Leela Bhansali as I have just really liked his work since I was a little child. I've been watching him since Devdas and then I absolutely loved guzaarish and Ram Leela, eventually all the series that he's made, all the great films that he's made till date. I like his process, the way that he makes his characters a certain way, the whole direction process and it's just very thrilling to the eye from an audience's point of view. I would like to be directed by him." Mannat believes that as an actor we must pursue and the amount of effort and work one puts in their art will always prove fruitful. As an actor, with all hardships one faces, one must always keep going and pushing their boundaries without a shadow of doubt. She speaks about her father who is a motivational speaker, she says he always said, "Mannat you will be really glad if you give it your all, if you have tried really hard as you’ll never have regrets. Don't give up. This is my dream and this is what I want to work for. That's stuck with me and that's what I tell myself. Even on days when I'm feeling low, I don't get up and I'm not able to do what I want to but there are days that you have to pick yourself up and remind yourself of the purpose that you have aspired to achieve." The filmmaker that inspires me the most and that I would love to work with in the future is Sanjay Leela Bhansali as I have just really liked his work since I was a little child.
