- Breaking Stereotypes About Women and Motorcycles
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Breaking Stereotypes About Women and Motorcycles 1 June 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Women shifting gears of their bikes, to shift gears of perspectives of people’s minds! “Life’s not fair; Get used to it”, a renowned quote by Bills Gates and the first rule from his “11 rules you will never learn in school”. Though Bill Gates had quoted these words for everybody in general, women would resonate with the words more effectively than men. Women have been surrounded by and are living in through the innumerable stereotypes since time immemorial. For everyone who is wondering, what a stereotype is, it is an image of how an individual is expected to act based upon factors such as race, nationality, sexual orientation and lot more. From the very beginning, girls come across rigid stereotypes which at times prove to be major barriers on their path of following their heart. The impact of these stereotypes can be bought to light, in two very simple yet thought provoking, statements which are oversimplified and overgeneralized by the society as a whole. “Pink is for girls and blue is for boys”, “Boys don’t cry”, are very common statements. Everyone might have come across one of these two general gender-based stereotypes. What makes everything worse is the fact that, somewhere, each and every person of the society has been, either intentionally or unintentionally been playing a role in building such rigidity. A measure of rigidity is bought to light by the fact that people actually consider that there’s no such thing called stereotyping and usually end up saying “This is how it is meant to be”. One such stereotype being that “motorcycling is not meant for women”. Motorcycling and biking has been always taken as a male oriented niche. Since time immemorable, motorcycling has always been associated with men to pursued as a career, hobby or passion. When talked about “bikers” or “motorcyclists”, the first image that is formed in one’s mind is a strong, masculine figure, wearing helmet and a safety kit and riding a heavy sports bike. Never does the image a woman in the same attire, upon a sports bike occur to people. Moreover, in case of bikers on the racing tracks, women are not even taken in consideration even in the imaginations. For those girls who stand strong and are courageous enough to follow their heart, family restrictions become a barrier. For those who even convince and receive family support, the entire society becomes a major obstacle in their path. Yet as a ray of hope in the midst of this stereotypical hanging rope, there are examples of women who tend to break the stereotypes and follow their passion fighting against all the odds that might cross their path. One such inspiring women is Roshni Misbah. During an interview, she gives us an insight into her journey and how she overcame the set stereotypes to follow her passion and become the only girl in India to own a Ninja H2. “Just because we aren’t allowed to do it, doesn’t mean we can’t do it” Roshni Misbah boldly quotes in favour of all the girls out there who wish to ride. Coming from a family of Islamic scholars and Hafiz’s, and then being a motorcycle enthusiast was odd. Her parents were initially hesitant but she somehow convinced them. The support of her family always which proved to be an ease in the rocky path. Talking about her journey, Roshni mentions that she always received odd looks from people on the road while she rode her bike on the way to college. She specifically mentions the fact that boys usually tried to overtake her, perform some stunts around her and make awkward comments. But nothing could stop her from riding, it was her passion and interest for riding is what kept her going. “As much as we say, we are living in a free world, the fact that there are still places where woman is NOT ALLOWED to do a lot if stuff” she believes. The issue of gender discrimination and stereotypes are very closely interrelated. However, she adds that “I think its all here! In the mind, for you to hold on to and follow your passion.” “You can follow your culture, ethics and yet follow your passion all at a time” she firmly stated. She also puts to light that the stereotypes are just in the mind. Though women today have all the resources and freedom, there is still something that makes their paths so very difficult or becomes a barrier. In most cases its all about the stereotypes and stereotypes are just in the mind. It is the people’s mindset that got to be changed first to bring about the freedom of women in its truest sense. - The City Beneath My Feet: A Night At Lebua State Tower, Bangkok
By Shrinivas Kodape By Shrinivas Kodape The City Beneath My Feet: A Night At Lebua State Tower, Bangkok 16 July 2025 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Bangkok doesn’t knock. It barges in. It sits on your chest, hot and loud, smelling of diesel, grilled meat, and somebody else’s sweat. And yet somehow, you miss it before you even leave. But Lebua — that’s something else entirely.Lebua doesn’t knock either. It pulls you in, wordlessly. Hands you a keycard. Presses a button. And in thirty seconds, you’re no longer in Bangkok. You’re above it. The room was oversized — almost rude in its generosity. A living room with couches I’d never sit on. A bathroom with mirrors that didn’t lie. A minibar that judged me a little. I tossed my bag somewhere near the corner and walked straight to the balcony — because that’s where the real welcome lives. From 64 floors up, Bangkok looks calm. Contained. Like the whole city has been shrink-wrapped for your viewing pleasure. The Chao Phraya River shimmered like it had secrets. Roads below pulsed like veins. And for a moment, it felt like everything I’d been running from couldn’t reach me up here. I lit a cigarette and leaned over the railing, the wind catching my collar like an old friend. And it hit me — not in some dramatic, Instagram-caption way. But quietly. That I was here. Really here . In a city that never cared whether you arrived or not. Lebua’s not pretending to be part of the city. It’s a floating kingdom. A palace for the curious, the hungry, the ones who land in new countries not for the monuments, but for the moments between. And up here, moments hit differently. I wandered upstairs. Not in search of anything — just chasing curiosity through elevators and glowing corridors. Lebua doesn’t just have restaurants. It has experiences disguised as meals . Bridges that feel like dreams. Cocktails with names you won’t remember, but flavors you’ll think about for weeks. I won’t spoil it — there’s another story for that. But let’s just say, I tasted something that reminded me of Saigon. And something else that made me forget where I was completely. Dinner? Not dinner. A ritual . And later, another bar. And another view. Bangkok still down there — snarling, laughing, eating, moving. Unbothered. I came back to the suite at some ungodly hour. Kicked off my shoes. Left the balcony doors open so I could sleep with the city noise filtered through altitude. Not silence. Just distance. I woke up with the sun hitting my face and the skyline whispering things I couldn’t translate. I made coffee in a robe too soft for someone like me, and watched boats slice through the river like time-lapse scars. It was just another Thursday. But also, not. Because for one night, I didn’t just stay in Bangkok. I hovered above it. Drank with it. Listened to it breathe. And let it remind me — without words — why we travel in the first place. Not to escape the noise. But to feel it all , and still find peace somewhere in between. Editor’s Note: Lebua’s food and beverage story — where sky meets plate and cocktails dare you to feel something — will be covered in full in our next issue. From cocktails at Sky Bar to suites perched in the Lebua Hotels experience, the journey floats far above the city’s chaos. This was just the beginning. No frills. No filters. Just the truth, served raw. - Porsche Taycan Turbo GT : Luxury In Overdrive
Porsche Taycan Turbo GT : Luxury In Overdrive By Ananya Patankar Porsche Taycan Turbo GT : Luxury In Overdrive 19 July 2025 LIFESTYLE Advertisement The silhouette of speed, frozen in time. With Yas Marina in its rear-view mirror, Porsche’s electric flagship is rewriting the language of luxury performance. On the cool tarmac of Yas Marina Circuit , beneath the desert stars and surrounded by the hushed intensity of track lights, Porsche made history. The Taycan Turbo GT didn’t just break the record for fastest production electric vehicle around the 5.281-kilometre Formula 1-grade circuit—it shattered it, clocking in a blistering 2:07.247. With GT racing driver Ramez Azzam behind the wheel and FIA observers on watch, it was speed redefined—silent, surging, and steeped in precision. The moment was official. The message was unmistakable: this isn’t just Porsche’s fastest EV. It’s a revolution on rubber. Meet the new, redefined and evermore powerful Taycan Turbo GT. Every surface, every seam of this Porsche is a study in how performance can meet poise. The optional Weissach Package strips away the rear seats in the name of performance purity, while carbon fibre elements and a dramatic fixed rear wing don’t just add character—they subtract drag. Even when parked, it seems ready to pounce. It’s not just streamlined—it’s sculpted, as if every curve has been air-brushed by speed itself. And yet, despite its aggressive silhouette, the Taycan retains Porsche’s design ethos of grace without gimmick. This is not a car you drive. It’s a car that propels you. With up to 1108 PS on tap thanks to Launch Control and Attack Mode—borrowed straight from Porsche’s Formula E bloodline—the Taycan Turbo GT explodes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds. Top speed? 305 km/h. But those are just numbers. What is truly astonishing is how it all feels: the torque isn’t delivered, it’s detonated. Corners don’t resist, they invite. Straightaways feel like warp zones. It’s not brute strength—it’s balletic savagery, every motion engineered with minute attention and unleashed with seamless poise. At the heart of the Taycan Turbo GT lies a pulse inverter derived from Porsche’s 99X Formula E car , boosting current and response time to near-telepathic levels. The Porsche Active Ride suspension, tuned specifically for this GT variant, balances wheel loads like a tightrope walker mid-performance. And those brakes—lightweight ceramics refined with optimized disc chambers—shave kilograms where it counts. Even the weight savings from the Weissach Package are deliberate: 75 kilograms gone, and not a gram wasted. Its performance is measured in milliseconds and engineered in milligrams. The result? A machine that doesn’t just harness electricity—it commands it. As for the driving experience, low-slung and snug, the driver’s seat in the Taycan Turbo GT isn’t a throne—it’s an exoskeleton. You feel it before you even move: the pulse of potential underfoot, the poised anticipation of launch. As Azzam noted, “You sit low in the car so you feel connected.” And connected you are—every flick of the wrist on the steering, every feather of the throttle, met with immediate, almost emotional response. This isn’t merely about performance. It’s about presence. The GT isn’t trying to impress you. It’s trying to include you—in something precise, poised, and unrelentingly Porsche. And yet, despite its circuit credentials, the Taycan Turbo GT is still wrapped in the refined language of everyday Porsche luxury. Inside, it’s all clean interfaces, sculpted surfaces, and tactile satisfaction. It's as practical as it is provocative—offering the driver all the data, comfort, and control needed for daily roads, even as it carries the DNA of a track predator. There's an ease here, a confidence. No shouting. No theatre. Just seamless transitions—from traffic light to track lap, from asphalt to afterglow. There was a time when electric was seen as an alternative. Then, it became inevitable. Now, thanks to machines like the Taycan Turbo GT, it’s aspirational. This is not just Porsche's fastest production EV. It’s one of its most significant. A car that shows how sustainability and sensation can coexist—without compromise. With every lap record it shatters, with every supercar it silently humbles, the Taycan Turbo GT whispers a truth that’s getting louder with every passing year: the future isn’t coming. It’s already at the start line. And it’s wearing a Porsche crest. - If you can dream it, you can achieve it – In conversation with Donal Bisht
If you can dream it, you can achieve it – In conversation with Donal Bisht by Aadhya Venkatesh If you can dream it, you can achieve it – In conversation with Donal Bisht 21 August 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement As a big believer in dreaming big and working hard to achieve your dreams, Donal Bisht was a Journalist and Anchor who pursued her dream of acting and modelling. In college, her seniors pursuing film studies always called her to work in their short films and music videos. Despite being pushed towards being an actor, Donal believed she wanted to pursue the media industry and work as a journalist. She even established herself in the field with a four-year-long career but eventually realised that "the work did not make my heart happy and did not satisfy me". It was then that she dropped everything and came to Mumbai to pursue her passion for acting. "I really believe in destiny". She has been in the show business for five years and has only been climbing the ladder of success. Having started with TV shows, Donal did four years of back-to-back TV with shows like Ek Deewana Tha and Roop . She then realised that to achieve creative satisfaction, she had to do something different. "I did a South bilingual film in Kannada and Telugu. The shift, I would say creatively, is great when you do different things", she said. She never knew Telugu and didn't have any exposure to the language. But after multiple workshops and extra efforts on sets, she managed to get well versed in the dialogues and expressions. "I used to keep the first AD with me to do the lines thoroughly, in and out". She broke through the language barrier and had her proud moment when people asked her if she was a natural Telugu speaker. Now that her film is in the post-production stage, Donal is excited to see herself in the role. Once her film was on the verge of completion, she entered the Big Boss house and became one of the most respected contestants in her two weeks there. "People come to me and say they want to become like me and love my personality". Having done four back to back soap shows, she now wants to venture into the world of web shows, which she is doing through her MX player original Show, Zakhm. Zakhm is a "romantic thriller show where I play Kavya, a healer who heals people's wounds". She is excited about the release of the show. Donal is also a TEDx speaker and always urges her fans to dream. "Dreaming is very important. If you can dream, you can achieve". She says that once a person has an unrelenting dream that they strive to achieve, persistence will take them forward on their journey. Those who dream can achieve whatever they aspire to. The one mantra she follows in life is to leave no stone unturned. She believes that persistence is critical and that a person should never stop. "First try to fly. If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl, but you do the best". Running and Weight Lifting are her preferred modes of workout. She runs on the treadmill for 20 minutes a day and believes that fitness is what you eat, and one must take care of what suits them and what doesn't. Along with exercise, she also recommends her audiences watch their food intake and monitor what they eat because, more often than not, it is a particular fruit, vegetable, or seafood that causes allergies and bloating. "Observe your body and the way it reacts to food". Donal's favourite travel destination is her family home in Delhi, where she goes for all significant occasions. Other than that, one place she hopes to visit soon is Paris, which is her second favourite place. #donalbisht #coverstory #interview #fashion #actress SEARCH A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma COVER STORIES Inner Joy Trails My Inspiration : A Candid Conversation With The Creative Anushka Kaushik COVER STORIES Barkha Singh’s candid candour makes the way to an eye-catching interview COVER STORIES Educate, Empower, Excel: Priyanka Chahar Choudhary's Inspirational Overture COVER STORIES Waluscha De Sousa On Being Her ‘True Self’ And Going On The Dream Journey COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Anurag Sen Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob 25 September 2025 COVER STORIES By Ananya Patankar Unscripted, Unstoppable: The Many Lives Of Christine Gulasatree 22 August 2025 COVER STORIES By Ananya Patankar Off Script, On Truth: Anshumaan Pushkar In His Own Words 30 June 2025 COVER STORIES By Ananya Patankar From Mowgli To Maverick: Why Shaan R Grover Feels Like The Real Deal 13 June 2025 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement

- Simulation Theory: What if we were just illusions?
SOCIETY by Akash Khatri Simulation Theory: What if we were just illusions? 1 November 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement What if our reality was just an illusion? What if our truths about existence are nothing but a myth? The universe is nothing but just a mirror facing another mirror! Like a dream inside a dream! “Simulation theory” is a current trending topic, many tags this as a conspiracy theory. The modern history of this mind-boggling theory started in the year 2003 with one publication by an Oxford Professor named Nick Bostrom and the paper that opened the gates of our curiosity regarding “Simulation theory” was “Are You Living in a Computer Simulation”? As per him, we are already in simulation, and with the possibilities of advances in virtual reality, we will (the simulated creatures) will create our own simulations and gradually the only civilization that will sustain would be simulated one! The three main points from his speech were: Civilization will come to an end before we get to the next level i.e. post-human level where we can create our own designed simulations. We developed the capability of creating “simulation”, but we decided not to use it yet, thinking (perhaps) that it is unethical or against the morality to do so! We are probably living in a simulation. In the recent era, many famous personalities have also become obsessed with the fact that maybe we are nothing but just fabricated or coded by super-human beings or super-coders who are monitoring every move of ours and to some extent controlling the way we are behaving! We are nothing but just a part of the virtual simulations in a mega computer! The Déjà vu we experience is nothing but just a glitch in the matrix or in simpler terms “coding errors”! Perhaps that is why sometimes we feel these uncanny eyes are following us or watching us out of nowhere! We cannot really find who is making us feel watched over, but we get the feeling for sure! Now let us talk about tech visionaries. Do they believe in this theory? The answer is YES! The tech visionaries and futurists do not believe in the old idea of Newton where they said that the creation of the Universe was simply by an accidental natural phenomenon. Most of today’s visionaries try to see the creation of the Universe as a simulation which was aided by super-intelligence. One of the quotes by Elon Musk regarding “Simulation Theory” that went viral was: “Given that we’re clearly on a trajectory to have games that are indistinguishable from reality and those games could be played on any set-top box or any PC, and there would probably be billions of computer or set-top boxes, it would seem to follow that the odds we are in base reality are one in billions.” But there are few scientists and techies who have totally dismissed the idea saying this whole theory is not even scientific in the first place! Why should we be bothered to know whether we are living in a simulation or not? Not only because people are crazily discussing about this topic lately but to know and acknowledge the truth! Why we should find out the real answer to this theory is to find out our realities so that we can survive if the need arises ever in the future! #Oxford #illusion #Simulationtheory #Reality #supercomputers #dejavu #Conspiracytheory #ElonMask SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - Why is being Real underrated?
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Why is being Real underrated? 16 July 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Contemporary times arranged our lives and turned it to be a lot easier, organised and captivated. Many of us have an impeccable life in real life but people leading a different life are expected to always look good on parade which intentionally leads to deceiving their own conscience. Having an engaged and often organised life is charming, in today’s times. Nevertheless, all of us can’t possess the same thing. Neither we need to be pretentious of the reality, we are trying really hard to settle in. Every day when we wake up, we have a gruelling fight to win. Life throws uncountable targets on us either professional, emotional, or may be related to our family or relationships. And the majority of us work hard with both our body and soul to accomplish those targets. At times our own high standards become unreachable. Yet every day teaches us a lesson. Wise men learn, move on and never look back because we are neither competing with others nor are we a part of any race, organised by the society, being its Jury. Remember! When babies are born, they are born with their own blessings and short-comings. And since then, we have been building a life of our own. We succeed, we fail, we learn, we let go but we grow because There are no failures, only outcomes, as long as I learn Something, I am succeeding. We all encounter many hassles in life with respect to mental and physical health, appearances, standards of living, comparative status or more but at the very least we should cherish that we are learning and succeeding. A long life is awaited… Start your journey with the hard work you expose. You shall reap what you ought to sow. Pull off the unreal mask you have on your face. Show to the world, true warriors are you, in the race.! It’s about time when individuals shall learn to embrace the scars they are born with or have earned in the journey to reach where they are right now. My two cents here, we should at the minimum spare a minute to understand the beauty of individuals we are moving along, of the people we vicariously live through and of the people we are inspired from. Potentially then we can see right through their perfect personality, the scars they are embracing to be Strong, Fierce, Smart, Gracious, Live, Empathetic and Charming. Every individual has built a historical personality from their lives which was inevitably arduous and exceptionally perfect. And, we are able to build an exceptionally impeccable life because we never underrated our reality of being perfect in our imperfections, strong in our failures, real in this very unreal underrated world. “Don’t look back to what others have, Build your own unique real self. Perfections are underrated, Impeccable is the journey you live in.” SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? - Changes in Fashion
Changes in Fashion by Neha Pande Changes in Fashion 27 July 2020 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In the start of the 90’s or before no one would have thought that black women or brown could be on the cover of a magazine like Vogue or a plus size woman would be a leading role model or on the cover of 100’s of billboard but in today’s world it is quite common to have a beautiful black lady gracing the cover of huge magazines or a plus size woman on the billboards of Times Square. When someone like Beverly Johnson, the first Black model to come out on the cover of Vogue in the 1970’s, made it, it was a big deal for everyone. When Ashley Graham, the first plus size model, came on the cover of Vogue in 2015, it took the industry by storm. From then till now the fashion industry has been evolving and changing for the better, it has started to be more inclusive of all, be it different races, sizes, genders or people with skin disorders. The barriers of Fashion have been changing since the humans learnt what Fashion is. In Greece and Rome, plus sized women were termed as goddesses in the 18th Century which later changed to slim and fit women termed as gorgeous. From the corseted waists and large ball gowns of the European Empire to the loose and free flowing bohemian fashion of the 1960’s, all were significant landmarks in the fashion Industry. The 1940’s was the era when World War II was at its peak, men were at the War Zone while women were at work. This era was the era of women wearing boxer pants with buttoned up shirts and padded shoulder blazers. This fashion statement was because women wanted to get into the working arena and they wore more male oriented clothes to show it. The 1950’s ended the world war with all men back into the workforce and women being oppressed back into housework. The fashion of the era was ultra-feminine with a lot of fit and flare which was the brainchild of Christian Dior who introduced fit and flare, slim shoulders unlike the 1940’s, narrow waist and full skirt which was inspired by the Victorian era. The 1960’s was a combined era of Hippie and Bohemian fashion with Spacy and futuristic fashion going neck to neck. The 1960’s was the start of the Northern Cali Hippie Movement with freedom to the extreme. This era had narcotics, drugs, alcohol and prostitution at its peak and it showed in their fashion with free-flowing dresses and bright colours. This era also gave birth to the famous singer and fashion icon Bob Marley. The 1970’s was the era of futuristic fashion which was due to NASA and its moon launch. This era introduced latex to the fashion industry and the fashion here was tight latex skirts or fitted bodycons with a futuristic vibe. It was also the era of Rock and Roll which gave birth to famous bands like Sex Pistols, The Ramous and the Clash and stars like Jimmy Hendrix. This era was also the Disco era which had vibrant and glittery colours contrasting to the Dark colours of the Rock and Roll. The 1980’s was the era of female empowerment and women getting into the workforce, the change in workforce demographics was huge as it showed the significant change and increase of women into various male dominated work fields. The working women of the era wore well fitted pants or pencil skirts with blazers and shirts. This era also gave birth to acid washed and ripped denim. The 1990’s was the era of sports wear like track pants, tank tops, platform sneakers and sporty tops which were rocked by famous people like Sporty Spice of the Spice Girls and Britney Spears. The 2000’s or our era is the era of amalgamation of all fashion from fit and flare of the 50’s to the funky fashion of the 70’s we have it all. We also are creating our own fashion like using matte colours in fashion with no makeup drives. Fashion is a reflection of society, it is not just merely looking pretty, it is much more than that. It is our history and our reflection as beings. From long leaves used as clothing by our early ancestors to the matte fashion of today it is all a part of our history and life. #FashionVogueWomenEraIndustrySkirtIcon SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah The Pursuit Of Comfort: Body By Victoria’s Secret Redefines The Everyday Bra 18 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement
