- Neon, Smoke, And Chili Fire: A Night In Bangkok’s Chinatown
By Shriniwas Kodape By Shriniwas Kodape Neon, Smoke, And Chili Fire: A Night In Bangkok’s Chinatown 2 September 2025 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The night air was thick enough to drink. Heat, smoke, and the smell of a thousand woks clung to your skin like a cheap shirt after a bar fight. Yaowarat Road didn’t ease you in, it pulled you under. Neon dripped down the facades of old shophouses, the glow bouncing off chrome pots, wet pavement, and the eyes of a crab stacked high in a steel tray. A woman in a faded apron stirred a pot the size of a manhole cover, her hands moving like she’d been doing it since before you were born. No smile, no sales pitch, just the quiet rhythm of someone who knows the food will do the talking. And it did. Garlic, soy, ginger sharp enough to wake the dead. Scooters screamed past, brushing the backs of your knees. You took it as the city’s way of reminding you who’s in charge. A kid no older than fifteen shoved a skewer of grilled pork into your hand before you could say no. Charred edges, fat dripping down your wrist, sweet and salty in the way only this part of the world understands. You didn’t bother asking the price. You kept moving. You had to. The crowd here didn’t slow down for anyone, not the tourists with their cameras, not the drunks stumbling out of karaoke bars, not even the monks in saffron robes moving like orange ghosts through the chaos. Dim sum carts hissed like angry cats. Stacks of bamboo baskets opened to reveal shrimp dumplings so fresh they might still have memories of the sea. Down an alley lit by a single bulb, a man with cigarette burns on his forearm poured beer into chipped mugs, the foam spilling over onto the table. You drank it anyway. Chinatown at this hour wasn’t a place, it was a fever. A living, sweating thing that didn’t care who you were, only that you showed up hungry and ready to be swallowed whole. By the time you hit the far end of the street, your shirt stuck to your back, your pockets were lighter, and your mouth burned with the sweet cruelty of chili. You stood there a moment, watching the smoke curl into the neon, knowing you’d come back not because you needed to eat, but because the night here doesn’t let you walk away clean. - Bangkok Under My Skin: The Mantra Etched By Arjan Neng
Bangkok Under My Skin: The Mantra Etched By Arjan Neng By Shriniwas Kodape Bangkok Under My Skin: The Mantra Etched By Arjan Neng 28 July 2025 LIFESTYLE Advertisement It was the kind of Bangkok morning that smells like motorbike oil, incense smoke, and wet concrete—the kind where time slips sideways, and your hangover negotiates with the gods. I took the alley like I was stepping into a fever dream—barefoot monks brushing past neon signs, the street food vendors already yelling, the city already sweating. Somewhere deeper in the maze of On Nut, I found him. Arjan Neng . Not a man. Not quite a myth either. Just a calm force sitting on a tiger pelt, like the morning was waiting for him to speak first. This was my fourteenth tattoo. I didn’t come for the design. I came for the surrender. The ritual. The silence. The Sak Yant . I'd heard stories— Bourdain’s voice lingering in my head like distant thunder. Not for the camera, but for the truth. The raw, old magic of it all. Inside the modest temple room, candles flickered in front of golden effigies. His students moved wordlessly around him, preparing ink, checking offerings, lighting incense that smelled like molasses and rain. No needles buzzing here. Just bamboo. Fire. Breath. A monk's whisper and a master’s hand. I handed over flowers, incense, and cigarettes—standard offerings, but not transactional. You don’t pay for a Sak Yant. You offer. You don’t demand. You accept. You sit still and trust. Arjan Neng didn’t ask what I wanted. He placed his hand on my arm and closed his eyes. I didn’t flinch. I had thirteen tattoos already—some tribal, some absurd, some forgotten. But this one was different. It wasn’t about art. It wasn’t even about pain. It was about letting go. The sak—the sacred ink—is mixed with oils, herbs, even snake venom or bone dust, depending on the lineage. The yant—the yantra—is ancient geometry meets prayer. Not decorative. Protective. Guiding. A spiritual circuit board etched into skin. He began. The bamboo rod moved fast and deliberate, its tip striking with a rhythm older than language. Tap. Tap. Tap. It didn’t hurt like a machine. It hurts like poetry being drilled into your soul. My skin opened and bled under his hands, and he chanted in Pali with a low, looping cadence that made the room feel like it was spinning just slightly off-axis. I didn’t know what he was inscribing. I didn't want to know yet. That was the point. This wasn’t a tattoo you pick off a wall. This was one the master chose for you. A mantra. A map. Through the haze, I caught flashes of his own journey— Arjan Neng had trained under revered monks deep in the countryside, learning the sacred geometry and invocations that stretch back centuries. His lineage traces through old jungle temples and battlefield monks who inked warriors before war. This wasn’t street mysticism. It was scripture written in flesh. He finished without ceremony. Just a nod. My arm throbbed, blood mixed with black ink trailing down my elbow like a signature. One of his disciples cleaned it, then placed a square of gold leaf on the fresh wound. Not for decoration—for blessing. Then came the final chant, the activation. Without that, the Sak Yant is just a tattoo. And then… silence. Not awkward silence. Not temple silence. Just peace. Out in the alley again, the city resumed its riot. Tuk-tuks screeched, dogs barked, the skyline hissed in the heat. But I moved through it differently now—like a line had been drawn between me and the chaos. A mantra lived on my arm. Not a tiger, not a demon, not some Instagrammable charm. A sacred formula Arjan Neng had chosen just for me. For protection, maybe. Or clarity. Or balance. Who knows? You don’t always need to understand the fire to feel its warmth. Later that night, I lit a cigarette on my hotel balcony, Bangkok flickering below me like a faulty neon sign. The tattoo still burned, but it wasn’t painful anymore. It was a memory. It was a presence. It was Bangkok under my skin. And for the first time in a long while, I didn’t need to ask why. Behind The Brushes: How Diksha Sachdev Redefined The Art Of Makeup By Akshra Khandelwal Behind The Brushes: How Diksha Sachdev Redefined The Art Of Makeup 31 August 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Diksha Sachdev has risen as a shining star in the world of beauty and makeup, where artistry meets inspiration. With her vibrant Instagram account and now venturing into the world of YouTube, she has captured the hearts of makeup enthusiasts across the globe. In an exclusive interview with our magazine, Diksha shares her journey, her inspirations, and her dreams for the future. "How's everything going?" I asked, to which she replied with contagious excitement, "Everything's going great. We're finally expanding our business and tapping into YouTube, and I couldn't be more thrilled." It was evident that Diksha's passion for makeup was a creative outlet and a potential career path she was enthusiastically embracing. Her journey began around three years ago when she got her hands on the iconic James Charles X Morphe eyeshadow palette. "I knew then that my first post had to use this eyeshadow palette. So I created a warm, colourful look using it. I was so nervous about the judgement, but I went with my gut, and luckily, it was very well received," Diksha shared with a smile. When asked about her makeup inspiration, she credited the likes of Malvika Sitlani, James Charles, and Nikkie Tutorials. "Through Malvika's content, I learnt to keep up with the Indian beauty industry; James Charles taught me how to step out of the box and create uniqueness; Nikkie taught me patience and precision." Her process of creating a new look is a testament to her dedication. "I have been passionate about makeup since college; since then, I kept trying different looks and products with the help of beauty gurus. After a few months, I decided to show my passion towards makeup to people on Instagram. This happened for the sole reason of showcasing my skills," she revealed. Lockdown allowed her to be more consistent and resilient, even in the face of minimal results. Her perseverance paid off when she joined a makeup school, took on clients, hosted online workshops, and proved to her parents that content creation could lead to a stable career. "Little did I know then that I could make a full-time career out of it. I've learnt, 'If there's a passion within you, the mind finds a way to work things out,'" she expressed with profound wisdom. As we delved into her daily makeup essentials, Diksha shared her must-haves: sunscreen, a concealer of her shade, a cream blush, loose powder, mascara, and lip gloss. And her current favourite product? "Wow, that's quite difficult. If I had to choose one, it'd be the Smashbox halo healthy glow one-tinted moisturiser," she revealed. For aspiring creators, Diksha's advice is empowering. "Be confident in your skill, do not be afraid of judgement, don't be shy to ask for help; I still ask for help/gain knowledge from fellow creators, be humble, do not get disheartened if your content doesn't work well. All you have to do is remind yourself why you started in the first place and up-skill yourself." Looking ahead, her goals for her Instagram account reflect her dedication to her audience. "I intend to create more content and upscale with time. I also love helping my audience with product recommendations and the issues they face in makeup and skincare," she shared. Diksha's journey from a makeup enthusiast to a thriving influencer reflects the power of passion, creativity, and perseverance. She continues to inspire and guide makeup enthusiasts worldwide through her captivating content. - Why is childhood obesity becoming so common?
Why is childhood obesity becoming so common? by Rupashree Ravi Why is childhood obesity becoming so common? 15 August 2022 LIFESTYLE Advertisement One in five children between the ages of six and nineteen years in the United States have a body mass index at or above the 95th percentile, which is considered obese. Over forty population of the adult population in the US are also obese. In India, there’s been an alarming rise in childhood obesity all over the country, with over 18 million overweight children. And when the parents are overweight, their kids are eighty per cent more likely to have a weight problem too. Are parents making their children fat? Yes, the reason is that the easy, quick, and cheap food options that parents are providing their children fuel an obesity epidemic. Canned, processed, and packaged foods have become the go-to option for working parents who don’t have the time to prepare fresh home-cooked meals. Instant and ready-to-eat meals have become popular alternatives. Moreover, children regularly binge-eat junk options like fast food, chips, and cookies as snacks. “A typical Indian diet relies heavily on salt and sugar. They eat more convenience food that is high on carbs, instead of balanced meals.” A healthy Indian meal can constitute a combination of pulses, fibres, proteins and carbohydrates During the pandemic, these unhealthy eating habits only kept increasing due to the absence of regulated meals. A study found that the screen time for children aged between ten to fourteen years doubled as lockdowns were imposed globally. With the lack of a routine, there were also increased stress hormones, increased snacking, and emotional eating, which all contributed to increased weight gain in children. Parents and children also began to use food delivery apps more often. The lockdowns made children more obese due to poorer diets Of course, it is a proven fact that childhood obesity is a chronic disease. It has a lot of causal factors like a person’s genetics, individual metabolism, sleeping patterns, eating habits, and how physically active they are. Even other factors like negative childhood experiences, social factors like poverty and race, and environmental factors like financial status play an important role. But there are some other subtle factors as well. When it comes to the packaging of these products, colour plays an important role in children’s choice of food. For example, bright red increases a particular food product’s perceived taste, while green increases its perceived healthiness. Children also easily remember the brand names of junk food. Children should have regulated and balanced diets So what’s the solution? A great way for parents to start is by monitoring children’s screen time and showing consistency with media limits. Get your children to play outdoors more often. Parents should also protect their sleep time, and ensure they eat balanced meals of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, fruits, and vegetables each day. It’s important that they read the entire nutritional label before purchasing a product and encourage healthier food and lifestyle choices. Because obesity is not just medical and physical health-related, but it also impacts the psychological and social well-being of children. With these right steps, we can prevent and fight obesity in children, before it becomes a larger and global issue. #Obesity #ChildhoodObesity #Overweight #HealthyEating #SayNoToJunk SEARCH Ankita Malik: Empowering Change And Embracing Authenticity LIFESTYLE Juggling Two Worlds: The Inspiring Journey Of Kritika Goel LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Nikita Pawar: From Fashion Design To Digital Stardom LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay’s Iconic Celebration Of December 14 December 2025 LIFESTYLE By Shriniwas Kodape The Spa At The Urban Wellness Centre: Four Seasons Bangkok’s Sanctuary Where The Body Forgets The Noise 4 September 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anurag Sen Porsche Unveils The Next Generation 911 Cup: Precision, Power, And Purpose For 2026 24 August 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anurag Sen Mercedes AMG Petronas Keep The Momentum Rolling After A Podium Scoring Hungarian GP 21 August 2025 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement
- Mental Health: Hush we don’t talk about it out loud
Mental Health: Hush we don’t talk about it out loud by Raunak Singh Hooda Mental Health: Hush we don’t talk about it out loud 1 June 2021 LIFESTYLE Advertisement When people hear the term healthy, they usually focus on physical stuff such as low cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, diabetes. But being healthy is not just being physically fit it also includes if the individual is mentally and emotionally fit. Unfortunately, countless people suffer from mental health problems that are just as deadly as physical problems. To understand the importance of mental health first we need to understand what does it mean. These all affect our mental health to great extents and that is the reason why we need to take help of psychologists, councilors, social helpers or maybe just talk to our loved ones because having bad mental health can not just be harmful to us but for everyone around us too. For example, depression is an ignored but dangerous illness if not cured, long term depression can lead to further mental as well as physical illness, can cause the victim to have maniac episodes, suicidal thoughts urge to self-harm, remove their problems perhaps murdering the ones troubling them sometimes too, destruction, isolation, and much more. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) estimates that 16.2 million U.S. adults had at least one major depressive episode in 2016. This represents 6.7 percent of the U.S. adult population. It is calculated that the ratio of a mental health professional helper to the public is 1 to 40,000 people. So it is high time that we need more people in this field of profession. By all this, we understand that it is very important that we take care of our mental health at an initial stage before it turns out that we r also boarding the train to depression. Staying mentally healthy helps us face challenges, stresses, make better decisions, cope better with sudden changes and setbacks which life throws at us. It also prepares us to be more efficient. To take care of your mental health initially one must know how to control anger, eat and sleep properly, do physical activities, meditate, pursue the hobbies that make them feel happy, socialize, find joy in small things and learn to appreciate life, never shy away to get help if you feel like that you need it because “just because no one can heal or do your inner work for you, does not mean you can, should or need to do it alone” ~ Lisa Olivers SEARCH Ankita Malik: Empowering Change And Embracing Authenticity LIFESTYLE Juggling Two Worlds: The Inspiring Journey Of Kritika Goel LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Nikita Pawar: From Fashion Design To Digital Stardom LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay’s Iconic Celebration Of December 14 December 2025 LIFESTYLE By Shriniwas Kodape The Spa At The Urban Wellness Centre: Four Seasons Bangkok’s Sanctuary Where The Body Forgets The Noise 4 September 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anurag Sen Porsche Unveils The Next Generation 911 Cup: Precision, Power, And Purpose For 2026 24 August 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anurag Sen Mercedes AMG Petronas Keep The Momentum Rolling After A Podium Scoring Hungarian GP 21 August 2025 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement

- Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion
Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion By Anushka Sharma Hebajasmi Unveils Captivating New Collection For SS25: A Masterpiece Of Art And Fashion 10 September 2024 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement As the spotlight shines brightly on Dubai Fashion Week , HEBAJASMI , the Dubai-based couture brand known for its exquisite evening gowns, prepares to unveil its highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2025 collection titled “State of Art.” Set to debut on the 3rd of September at the D3 Stadium, this collection promises to be a striking representation of the brand’s core principles: quality, innovation, and craftsmanship. Since its inception in 2019, HEBAJASMI has captivated the world of couture with its masterful creations that celebrate femininity through structured, elegant designs. With “State of Art”, the brand continues to elevate its identity by exploring the intersection of fashion and art in new and imaginative ways. A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Surrealism: “State of Art” reflects a sophisticated fusion of nature-inspired abstraction and surrealist influences, creating a visual language that is both bold and poetic. The collection is defined by an interplay of structured embroidery, abstract lace, and a contemporary silhouette that pays homage to the female form. This season, HEBAJASMI’s creative team has skillfully juxtaposed precision-cut designs with flowing volumes to craft garments that are at once sculptural and fluid. The result is a collection that celebrates the duality of structure and nature. While the sharp tailoring accentuates the precision and control of the design, the voluminous fabrics and abstract motifs evoke a sense of organic movement. HEBAJASMI has succeeded in creating pieces that don’t just adorn the body but transform it into a canvas for artistic expression. Design Elements: Abstract Elegance Meets Couture Craftsmanship Central to the “State of Art” collection is HEBAJASMI’s impeccable attention to detail. The collection features key elements such as lace, hand embroidery, and abstract embroidery prints, which add layers of complexity to the overall aesthetic. These design elements are meticulously executed to create an intricate balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern abstraction. In keeping with the theme, the color palette for Spring/Summer 2025 reflects a love for vibrant colors, ranging from soft pastels to bold, saturated hues. The combination of bright and muted tones is reminiscent of nature's ever-changing landscape, where the soft hues of dawn give way to the brilliance of the midday sun. This nuanced use of color highlights the brand’s ability to infuse life into each garment, much like the dramatic hues observed in natural and cultural landscapes. One of the signature aspects of the collection is the exaggerated circular volumes, which are designed to evoke the sense of wearable art pieces. These voluminous silhouettes are not only statement-making but also represent a nod to the brand’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of conventional fashion. Each garment becomes a conversation piece, inviting the wearer and onlookers to engage with it as more than just couture but as art. An Artistic Reflection of Nature, Culture, and Humanity In discussing the inspiration behind the collection, HEBAJASMI explains that State of Art was born from an admiration for the vibrant colors and structures observed in daily life. The collection draws inspiration from the natural world, human artifacts, and cultural elements, weaving these themes into a cohesive fashion narrative. The blend of abstraction and surrealism seen in the garments reflects an exploration of how fashion can mirror the complexity and beauty of the world around us. The collection is an ode to artistic expression in its many forms. By translating the intricate details of nature and the boldness of culture into its designs, HEBAJASMI reaffirms its position as a brand that sees fashion not merely as a medium for creating clothing but as a form of artistic storytelling. Event Details and Anticipation for Dubai Fashion Week Dubai Fashion Week will provide the perfect backdrop for the grand debut of “State of Art”. HEBAJASMI’s show on the 3rd of September is expected to be a highlight of the season, as the brand has consistently delivered shows that are not only visually stunning but also thought-provoking. The event will take place at D3 – Stadium, an iconic venue that aligns with HEBAJASMI’s bold, modern aesthetic. As the fashion industry increasingly moves toward sustainable practices, many are curious to see how HEBAJASMI integrates these values into its newest collection. While the specific sustainability efforts for “State of Art”have not yet been announced, the brand’s commitment to thoughtful design suggests a continued dedication to responsible fashion practices.
