- Five ways to make your commute enjoyable
Five ways to make your commute enjoyable by Aishwarya Five ways to make your commute enjoyable 4 November 2022 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Commuting to work is one of the most universally despised of all the things that give us tension and anxiety — a heavy workload, financial difficulties, and a cluttered home, to mention a few. During the pandemic, millions of people were able to forego long commutes in exchange for a short stroll to their computers. Now that firms are bringing remote workers back to the office, the prospect of dealing with rush-hour traffic or crowded public transportation can leave workers mentally and physically exhausted before they even leave the house. Let’s see five ways to make your daily commute more enjoyable. Discover Something New: Do you have to keep your eyes on the road? Look for audiobooks or podcasts in your field. "When I started a new job, it required some different skills, so I listened to audiobooks about topics like leadership and agile methodology," says Juliya Margolin, a director of product development at Prudential who commutes by car from Brooklyn to the company's headquarters in Newark—a trip that takes at least an hour. Seek advice from coworkers or mentors, and embrace learning on several platforms. "Audio is a terrific method for me to diversify how I consume information," explains Margolin . "I read on a computer most of the time." Listening allows me to immerse myself in a subject in a new and enriching way." Change Your Travel Schedule: Instead of attempting to navigate New York City's peak rush-hour traffic from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Margolin leaves her Brooklyn home at about 8:30 a.m. and arrives at work in less time and with significantly less stress. Despite her later start time, she arrives at a respectable 9:30 AM. "My team is more concerned with getting things done than with face time," Margolin explains. "Some days, I have to come in for 8:30 or 9 a.m. meetings, but I'm flexible when necessary and utilise my judgement as to which meetings are critical." Margolin follows the same technique after the day, departing a little later, after 6 PM, to avoid the 4:30 to 6 PM traffic jam. Make a plan: Experiment with different driving routes and commuting days and hours. Take note of peak traffic times and plan your route accordingly. Plan your commute to the workplace on off-peak days and hours if you have the option of working a flexible remote or hybrid schedule. You can also cut your commute time by avoiding peak hours. After work, run errands, go to the gym or business fitness centre, or join a recreational sports team near your office. You'll get some workouts and maybe even meet some new people! Bring snacks: Don't drive hangry! If you're hungry or thirsty in the afternoon, a traffic standstill is much more annoying. Keep protein snacks or bottles of water in their trunk or your desk drawer at work for a quick pick-me-up before getting behind the wheel. Reduce screen time: Most of us already spend a significant portion of our day staring at a screen. If you take public transportation, try taking a break from your screen. Non-digital material such as a book, magazine, or even an old-fashioned crossword puzzle might help you work other areas of your brain and minimise fatigue. To calm your thoughts, listen to a podcast, music, or relaxing sounds. During the pandemic, millions of people were able to forego long commutes in exchange for a short stroll to their computers. #Commute #Travel #Work #DailyCommute #Audiobooks #Tips #Lifestyle SEARCH Countdown To History: Omega Unveils Paris 2024 Olympics Countdown Clock And Special Edition Timepiece LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE Personal Growth And Relatability: Ishita Khanna's Key To Influencer Success LIFESTYLE 6 Disadvantages Of Being Pretty LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shrinivas Kodape Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025 29 April 2025 LIFESTYLE By Aarti Singh The Audi A6: A Legacy Born From Rebellion And Refined Through Innovation 1 March 2025 LIFESTYLE By Sakshi Batra Glam Extravaganza 2025: Pune And Mumbai’s Influencers Compete For The Ultimate Spotlight 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Uniyal Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement
- Life Changing Trips Everyone Should Experience At Least Once
by Priti Sharma by Priti Sharma Life Changing Trips Everyone Should Experience At Least Once 15 February 2023 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement A vacation is usually an excellent idea. It's never a terrible thing to switch up your surroundings and put work aside for a few days, no matter where you're going. However bizarre it may sound, becoming bored when on vacation is possible. I'll give you an illustration: You're not taking full benefit of travel if your yearly vacation involves going to the same little beach town every summer, where you stay in the same lodgings and dine at the same eateries. It's good to return to a location that seems familiar, but discovering new things is one of the most delicate parts of traveling. It's a chance to venture beyond your comfort zone and experience sights, sounds, and tastes that are unavailable to you at home. If you're ready to try something different the next time you go OOO, let us give you some ideas. We've put up a list of 11 amazing journeys that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. You can cross these off your bucket list when you go on your next journey. 1. Hike in a National Park One of the finest ways to see the natural beauty that can be found right here in the United States is to visit a national park. It's hardly surprising that tourists from all over the world flock to these locations given the abundance of animals, magnificent natural features, and unrivaled stargazing. Make it a point to visit at least one (but ideally many!) of the 63 national parks that are dispersed around the nation during your lifetime. The Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountains, Yellowstone, and Glacier are just a handful of the amazing places that should be on your bucket list. 2. Visit Paris Romance, creativity, fashion, and cuisine. Although Paris sells them throughout the year, the Salon du Chocolat is when they are highlighted. The top chocolatiers, confectioners, and cocoa specialists in the world celebrate unique flavors and innovations every fall. Paris is usually an excellent option because of its iconic architecture, world-class museums, and delectable cuisine, to name a few. It's a city that everyone must see at least once. Visit Paris for the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre; stay for the city's quaint sidewalk cafés, outdoor markets, and stunning parks. 3. Head to a Tropical Beach Nothing screams leisure like sprawling out on a beach with a fruity cocktail in your hand and the crystal blue sea out in front of you. A leisurely trip to the tropics can be exactly what you need if you're used to holidays that are jam-packed with activities. With places like Hawaii, Tahiti, the Maldives, or of countless Caribbean islands, you can't go wrong. 4. Experience an African Safari The experience of viewing lions, giraffes, and elephants in their natural habitats is incomparable to visiting a zoo. One of those once-in-a-lifetime events that you must actually experience is an African safari. You will experience incredible animals and scenery that you won't find anywhere else on the globe while being led by a local expert. Start your vacation in one of the top-rated safari locations, such as Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, or South Africa. 5. Take a Tour of Italy It is impossible to choose just one Italy location to check off your bucket list because of the country's diverse landscapes and rich history, including Rome, Tuscany, and the sparkling Almafi Coast. The greatest way to experience it is as a complete. Italy's train system, fortunately, makes it simple to travel the whole length of the nation. 6. See the Big Apple Nothing compares to New York City. It serves as the famous backdrop for several films and TV series and serves as a representation of a great deal of American culture. Of course, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge are all must-see features, but what will make you fall in love with New York is its different neighborhoods, indie eateries, and hidden-gem boutiques. 7. Spot the Northern Lights A little price to pay for some wind and snow is the chance to view the Northern Lights, which involves enduring Arctic conditions. The stunning light show may be seen in places like northern Canada, Alaska, Iceland, Finland, and Norway, despite the fact that the phenomenon is notoriously hard to spot. 8. Road Trip Across the Country Even though flying is frequently the more convenient choice, a road vacation includes travel as a component of the experience. It provides you the chance to eat quickly in quaint rural towns or take photographs at tacky roadside sights en route to your destination. Additionally, you never know when you'll find a fantastic location that wasn't on your schedule. Therefore, inflate your tires, pack the car, and don't forget to bring a tonne of goodies. 9. Visit One of the Seven World Wonders The seven wonders must be included on each traveler's bucket list. Any one of these wonders is certainly worth the trek across the globe; they are among the most amazing human-built buildings ever made. Choose from the Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum, Chichén Itzá, Christ the Redeemer, Machu Picchu, and Chichén Itzá. 10. Explore Australia Australia is a place that is genuinely unique. It has famous landmarks like the Great Barrier Reef and the Sydney Opera House, as well as a broad range of animals that are unique to this continent (think kangaroos, koalas, and wallabies). Australia provides an experience for everyone, with everything from humming cities and sandy beaches to deep jungles and alpine summits. 11. Eat Your Way Through Southeast Asia Southeast Asia, which includes nations like Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, is unquestionably a culinary lover's dream. The area offers so many mouthwatering delicacies that it would be hard to sample them all, and it boasts some of the greatest street cuisines on the whole globe. In addition, the region is rather affordable for travel (and very well-liked among backpackers! ), making it possible to see several nations in one journey. What's next on your travel list? With so many places worth traveling to, it can be hard to narrow down your top spots to visit. Sometimes what draws us to a place are the well-known sights, delectable cuisine, and luxurious hotels, and other times it's the bragging rights that come with seeing every continent, nation, or state. Whatever your reason, we've compiled a list of 11 extraordinary journeys that include once-in-a-lifetime encounters and renowned sites that are unique to each location. What then qualifies a vacation as really transformative? One thing is certain, though: After reading this list of iconic road trips and African safaris, you'll be itching to start planning your next big journey. - Breaking Stereotypes About Women and Motorcycles
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Breaking Stereotypes About Women and Motorcycles 1 June 2021 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Women shifting gears of their bikes, to shift gears of perspectives of people’s minds! “Life’s not fair; Get used to it”, a renowned quote by Bills Gates and the first rule from his “11 rules you will never learn in school”. Though Bill Gates had quoted these words for everybody in general, women would resonate with the words more effectively than men. Women have been surrounded by and are living in through the innumerable stereotypes since time immemorial. For everyone who is wondering, what a stereotype is, it is an image of how an individual is expected to act based upon factors such as race, nationality, sexual orientation and lot more. From the very beginning, girls come across rigid stereotypes which at times prove to be major barriers on their path of following their heart. The impact of these stereotypes can be bought to light, in two very simple yet thought provoking, statements which are oversimplified and overgeneralized by the society as a whole. “Pink is for girls and blue is for boys”, “Boys don’t cry”, are very common statements. Everyone might have come across one of these two general gender-based stereotypes. What makes everything worse is the fact that, somewhere, each and every person of the society has been, either intentionally or unintentionally been playing a role in building such rigidity. A measure of rigidity is bought to light by the fact that people actually consider that there’s no such thing called stereotyping and usually end up saying “This is how it is meant to be”. One such stereotype being that “motorcycling is not meant for women”. Motorcycling and biking has been always taken as a male oriented niche. Since time immemorable, motorcycling has always been associated with men to pursued as a career, hobby or passion. When talked about “bikers” or “motorcyclists”, the first image that is formed in one’s mind is a strong, masculine figure, wearing helmet and a safety kit and riding a heavy sports bike. Never does the image a woman in the same attire, upon a sports bike occur to people. Moreover, in case of bikers on the racing tracks, women are not even taken in consideration even in the imaginations. For those girls who stand strong and are courageous enough to follow their heart, family restrictions become a barrier. For those who even convince and receive family support, the entire society becomes a major obstacle in their path. Yet as a ray of hope in the midst of this stereotypical hanging rope, there are examples of women who tend to break the stereotypes and follow their passion fighting against all the odds that might cross their path. One such inspiring women is Roshni Misbah. During an interview, she gives us an insight into her journey and how she overcame the set stereotypes to follow her passion and become the only girl in India to own a Ninja H2. “Just because we aren’t allowed to do it, doesn’t mean we can’t do it” Roshni Misbah boldly quotes in favour of all the girls out there who wish to ride. Coming from a family of Islamic scholars and Hafiz’s, and then being a motorcycle enthusiast was odd. Her parents were initially hesitant but she somehow convinced them. The support of her family always which proved to be an ease in the rocky path. Talking about her journey, Roshni mentions that she always received odd looks from people on the road while she rode her bike on the way to college. She specifically mentions the fact that boys usually tried to overtake her, perform some stunts around her and make awkward comments. But nothing could stop her from riding, it was her passion and interest for riding is what kept her going. “As much as we say, we are living in a free world, the fact that there are still places where woman is NOT ALLOWED to do a lot if stuff” she believes. The issue of gender discrimination and stereotypes are very closely interrelated. However, she adds that “I think its all here! In the mind, for you to hold on to and follow your passion.” “You can follow your culture, ethics and yet follow your passion all at a time” she firmly stated. She also puts to light that the stereotypes are just in the mind. Though women today have all the resources and freedom, there is still something that makes their paths so very difficult or becomes a barrier. In most cases its all about the stereotypes and stereotypes are just in the mind. It is the people’s mindset that got to be changed first to bring about the freedom of women in its truest sense. We often feel weak and baffled by those tough complex situations in our lives when we fail to find a way out or at least feel like it. In phases like these, people who practice gratitude usually come up with the reminder that even in the gloomiest moments, there’s always a beam of light shining through the darkness to make you recognize the brighter parts of every situation. There’s always a good hidden in the bad and your choice to uncover it with an open heart and mind is what makes everything worthwhile. The must known fact about practicing gratitude is, you don’t have to reserve it for epochal moments but notice it in the littlest of wins like you managing to witness the sunrise, getting free from your work before-time, a little chit-chat with a stranger on a shared cab or merely a hot cup of tea, it all depends on your perspective. People who are grateful, are the ones who are more stress resistant and know the art of celebrating life by living in the present. Here are 10 elementary steps to building your attitude of gratitude. Keep a gratitude journal ~ The most practiced way is maintaining a Gratitude journal and has resulted to be very effective. All you have to do is make a rough record or list of things that you felt grateful for. You don’t need to prepare a whole long list everyday and feel bounded about it but simply add one or more little things that made you smile and feel grateful, on a daily basis. This practice increases your ability to acknowledge things you usually fail to notice. Express your love and appreciation ~ Expression of what you feel is powerful and gives a sense of satisfaction and bliss. Write notes or letters to people you love, people who made you happy someday or simply the ones who were kind to you and you appreciate their act. Nurture your friendships and embrace what you have by sharing what you feel. This makes the other person happy as well and that reciprocation multiplies your satisfaction. The expression of your positive feelings also help in building good relationships and bridges the communication gap. Avoid negative media and switch to positive ~ Our senses, what we see and hear influences our actions and mood. Watching and listening to negative media brings you closer to negativity which starts reflecting in your behaviour as well. Try on watching positive videos, listening to soothing music, reading good books, all of this will help you notice and appreciate the good in the world and influence your behaviour positively. This helps people giving and attracting positive vibes which are very important to live and lead a healthy life. Observe the beauty of nature ~ A famous known and understood fact of life is, fall in love and find the beauty in things that would always stay along and you’d never need to search for it when you need it. Nature is one such beautiful part of our lives that won’t leave our side once you fall in love with it. The soothing wind, the sound of sea waves, colours of sunset shining through the clouds, the flower blooming as if smiling at you, these things are eternal and always makes you smile once you start understanding its beauty. The sky full of stars and you star-gazing can never feel lonely. Observing the beauty of nature brings happiness to your life by simply existing. Involve yourself in the acts of kindness ~ Join a cause that matters to you or get yourself involved in social work. Enrolling with an NGO can be a good idea but if not something in that large of scale, try doing small acts of kindness daily. Helping old aged people with whatever they need in a situation, feeding stray dogs, donating your old clothes or maybe just giving ten bucks extra to the street vegetable vendor without trying to bargain can be counted as your acts of kindness. The moment you start appreciating what you have by comparing yourself with the ones who have less and not more than you, you’ll understand the importance of having a giving nature and will start helping people out with whatever you can. The humbleness you show while doing such things makes you feel good about yourself subconsciously which later on helps you feel positive about yourself. Avoid criticizing, gossiping and talking negatively ~ You become what you feed your mind, what you believe, what you speak and what you surround yourself with. If you keep criticizing people and notice what their flaws are in your perspective, you’ll end up becoming a gloom-ridden person who fails to find and look at the plus of others and not minus. This gets reflected in our personality easily and we develop a negative vibe. Instead of gossiping around about somebody else’s life or criticizing them, try on appreciating them for what they are good at and notice the same. Nobody is perfect and everybody has flaws, our wisdom lies in accepting them while helping them out of it and not by discussing about their lives. You also must surround yourself with people who have an uplifting nature. Stop complaining ~ Like our happiness multiplies by expressing and sharing, the same happens with every other emotion. If you complain about situations in your life, the more you think and talk about it, the more it strengthens up in your heart and mind. You must understand the fact that there’s always gonna be difficulties and problems throughout your life and you’ll have to deal with it alone. What can be changed is the way you look at it, the way you perceive it. Try on having a positive approach towards your problems. Instead of feeling sad over it, try finding out what you got to learn through it. Try analyzing the whole phase and telling yourself what you’ll take forward about it and what you’ll leave behind. Make sure what you take forward is what helps you grow and not keep you stuck with the past. Start and end your day with gratitude ~ Be thankful for each day you’re gifted and take it as an opportunity to become a better person. Keep in mind that the gratitude you’re practicing is for your own good and your kind actions are just a source that lead you to the peace. Remind yourself that you’re worthy of all the bliss and ready for all the difficulties; for whatever happens, happens for good. Just like you begin your day with gratitude, end it the same way. It can be a little prayer or just a thanks, a text message of appreciation to somebody or a pat on your back while telling yourself that you made the day a good one with no regrets but happiness and peace. Some of the psychological aspects of practicing gratitude are the higher level of positive emotions, alertness and awakeness towards life everyday, more optimism, peace and happiness. Gratitude also assists our health by resulting with balanced blood pressure, good sleep, stronger immune system and makes us less bothered about the pain and aches. The attitude of gratitude not only helps us in multiple ways but the people around us as well. Our life is a sum of both good and bad. We learn and grow through our experiences. The sense of acceptance and gratitude brings us closer to the ultimate meaning of life and helps us live it to the fullest and isn’t that the best return gift to life? - Exposing Skin Care Myths Through A Dermatologist
By Anushka Sharma By Anushka Sharma Exposing Skin Care Myths Through A Dermatologist 18 June 2024 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Are you someone who spends a lot of time on social media, especially looking at skincare trends? I admit I've done that, and sometimes it leads to buying things I don't need. While some trends are good, others might not be so great for your skin. Here are five skincare trends you might have seen online that aren't as helpful as they seem: 1. Flax Seeds for Wrinkles: Have you seen people making masks with flax seeds to tighten their skin? Well, it might make your skin feel nice for a little while, but it's not like getting Botox. Botox actually relaxes certain muscles in your face, while flaxseed masks just hydrate your skin temporarily. 2. Garlic for Pimples: Some folks say eating garlic can clear up acne, but that's not entirely true. Garlic does have some good properties, but it won't magically make your pimples disappear. Using skincare ingredients like salicylic acid and niacinamide is a better bet. 3. Face Flooding for Oily Skin: If you've got oily skin, you might have heard about "face flooding" to give your skin extra moisture. But for some people, it just makes them look sweaty and can even cause more breakouts. It's not a one-size-fits-all solution. 4. Collagen Masks: Those masks that melt into your skin might look cool, but they don't do much for you. Collagen in skincare can't really get absorbed into your skin like that. It might make your skin feel hydrated, but that's about it. 5. SPF Madness: We've all heard that higher SPF means better protection from the sun, right? Well, not necessarily. Too much SPF can make your skin oily, and anything beyond SPF 50 doesn't add much extra protection. Plus, you still need to reapply it often. So, next time you see a skincare trend online, take it with a grain of salt. It's always best to talk to a dermatologist before trying something new on your skin. - Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025
Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025 By Shrinivas Kodape Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025 29 April 2025 LIFESTYLE Advertisement If you anticipated the typical display of corporate logos and rigid panels at SPORTS CON Pune 2025, you were pleasantly surprised. Held at the historic PYC Hindu Gymkhana , this wasn’t your average event. No one was here to hand out polished brochures or talk about things that sounded nice on paper. This was about action, urgency, and a whole lot of raw truth. The first speaker to step up wasn’t some celebrity, polished in a designer suit, but rather Dr. Vipul Lunawat, a man whose eyes had seen enough of India’s sports eco-system to make you question whether we were stuck in a time loop of broken promises. This wasn’t about hope or fluff; it was a hard dose of reality. His message: India’s sports system is crumbling. His words cut through the optimism like a knife, and you could feel the room brace for what was coming next. But Dr. Lunawat wasn’t alone. Madhukar Talwalkar, the fitness guru known for reshaping the health landscape in India, stood beside him. And then there was Dr. Pranati Tilak, calm and composed, like the steady anchor in a storm. These three weren’t there to dance around issues. They were there to tell it like it is—no sugarcoating, no fluff. And you could feel the room start to shift. Their message was clear: if India didn’t fix its sports Eco-system, it was game over for any Olympic dreams. The mood was set, but it didn’t stay calm for long. The next panel, “Decoding the League Culture,” went straight for the jugular. Kailash Kandpal, who made Puneri Paltan the juggernaut it is, didn’t come to chat about sponsorships or TV ratings. He was talking about survival—about making leagues that people actually cared about, not just following trends or chasing foreign dollars. For him, the sport was about something deeper, a bond with the community that’s hard to describe, but you know it when you see it. Then there was Mandar Tamhane, who lives and breathes football through his work with NorthEast United FC . His focus was on one simple, undeniable fact: if India didn’t start embracing football as its true sport, any hope for Olympic success was just that—a dream. A pretty, distant dream. He spoke with such passion you almost felt like the entire country should be shutting down for a football match. Next up was Parvin Dabas, an actor turned advocate for Pro Panja League , a form of arm wrestling that’s slowly making waves in India. His talk wasn’t just about strength; it was about a return to the basics of physicality. Forget the shiny new sports that come and go with trends—Panja wrestling is all about raw, gritty power. Dabas was adamant: it was time to bring back the sports that were built on real physical strength, not the tech-saturated world we’re drowning in. And then Rishi Bhansali, the founder of Pickleball , stepped up, and let’s just say it wasn’t your typical panel. Pickleball? Yes, it’s a thing. But Bhansali wasn’t just here to talk about paddle sports; he was here to talk about building communities around sports. His point was simple: clubs should be as important as schools, as temples, as landmarks. Sports should mean something to the neighborhoods they belong to. By the time the heavy hitters like Pawan Singh from Gun for Glory Academy, Lokesh Suji talking esports, and Rishikesh Joshi weighed in, the message couldn’t have been clearer: India needed more than just flashy banners or half-built stadiums. It needed a complete overhaul. Big changes, and fast. The status quo wasn’t working, and if India wanted to be a real contender on the world stage, the cracks in the foundation needed to be fixed yesterday. As the day wound down, you couldn’t help but feel like something had shifted. These weren’t just dreamers talking theory—they were doers, and they weren’t here to hold your hand. They were here to demand action. But if you weren’t paying attention, you might have missed it. The revolution in Indian sports had quietly begun, and while the path forward was unclear, the momentum was undeniable. So, what does all of this mean? Well, it’s simple: SPORTS CON Pune 2025 wasn’t just a day of panels. It was a wake-up call for a nation that had been dreaming too long and building too little. The people in that room were ready to fight for the kind of sports culture India deserves—not the flashy image, not the Insta-worthy moments, but the real stuff that comes from the grassroots up. No one promised it would be easy, but then again, whoever promised that revolutions were fun? India’s Olympic dreams might still be distant, but they don’t have to be impossible. It all starts with taking action—big, messy, necessary action. If you missed the revolution, don’t worry; there’s always next year. Or maybe, just maybe, there won’t be.
