  • Mannat Singh, the story of an aspiring actress

Mannat Singh, the story of an aspiring actress by Aparajita Jaiswal Mannat Singh, the story of an aspiring actress 28 September 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Mannat Singh is not just a successful model but also an aspiring actress and found a passion for acting through pure serendipity. A young, goofy, introvert whose life changed when she entered the world of modeling through Miss India, moving out of her shell. "I thought that there's so much more that I could do and I'm not just this shy person. I can go out there in the world and try to have big dreams and I can achieve whatever I want if I put my mind to it," Mannat goes on tell us "I am really glad that I took that scary step of coming to a different city from a town where everything was my comfort alongside my my family. Taking that leap of faith, coming here and working for my dreams every day, I feel like that is commendable and that is the reason that I do this. I want to be an actor and I love what I do. I love where my life is going to go and the direction that I'm on. And that's all that I've got." Mannat Singh expresses how as an actor she wishes to bring the character to life and also be true to the character she is playing. As an actor you're always striving and being fearless enough to take chances. "The whole point acting us to bring the character to life. Everybody has a process which is very different and it's a very subjective thing. It differs from person to person, actor to actor. So I don't think there's a set way of performing this art but I feel it depends on the person and the actor." There are several stages of being an actor in a show or a film. There are certain thrilling aspects and there are certain parts where hard work and focus is key. Mannat comments on the same, "I feel that I embrace and enjoy the whole process. From getting the script and reading the script, understanding the writer's point of view to actually bringing the character to life and adding my own personal touch, the whole process is extremely thrilling to me. When you're auditioning and you're going about the scene and performing in front of people, I feel like there comes a point for me where I'm knee deep into the character that I start improvising. So, when I'm improvising, I am really getting under the skin of the character and it's just coming really naturally to me. That is the point where I know that I can do this. That particular point is very exciting and thrilling for me." "Not having explored many genres yet, I would be really excited to do a thriller or mystery film or show but the most difficult genre to perform, in my opinion, is comedy, because I feel like if you can make the audience laugh and you know it all comes with ease to you, is the most difficult thing to do. If ever got a chance, I'm sure that I'll have to work really hard. As a person, I believe I'm funny and have a good sense of humor but while performing a comedic role, I believe it will be one of the most difficult things to do but I’d still like to explore that." Having asked what present day mega director inspires her and she would like to be directed by, Mannat answers with a slight glow in her eye as she talks about her inspiration, "The filmmaker that inspires me the most and that I would love to work with in the future is Sanjay Leela Bhansali as I have just really liked his work since I was a little child. I've been watching him since Devdas and then I absolutely loved guzaarish and Ram Leela, eventually all the series that he's made, all the great films that he's made till date. I like his process, the way that he makes his characters a certain way, the whole direction process and it's just very thrilling to the eye from an audience's point of view. I would like to be directed by him." Mannat believes that as an actor we must pursue and the amount of effort and work one puts in their art will always prove fruitful. As an actor, with all hardships one faces, one must always keep going and pushing their boundaries without a shadow of doubt. She speaks about her father who is a motivational speaker, she says he always said, "Mannat you will be really glad if you give it your all, if you have tried really hard as you’ll never have regrets. Don't give up. This is my dream and this is what I want to work for. That's stuck with me and that's what I tell myself. Even on days when I'm feeling low, I don't get up and I'm not able to do what I want to but there are days that you have to pick yourself up and remind yourself of the purpose that you have aspired to achieve." The filmmaker that inspires me the most and that I would love to work with in the future is Sanjay Leela Bhansali as I have just really liked his work since I was a little child. • A Century Of Precision: Meet The All-New Breitling Navitimer B19

A Century Of Precision: Meet The All-New Breitling Navitimer B19 By Anushka Uniyal A Century Of Precision: Meet The All-New Breitling Navitimer B19 14 March 2025 FASHION Advertisement Some watches are just, well–watches. And then there’s the Breitling Navitimer , a legend in aviation timekeeping that’s been turning heads for over 70 years. It’s the kind of watch that isn’t just about telling time, it’s about heritage, precision and a design that never goes out of style. Now, Breitling is stepping things up with the Navitimer B19 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph—a watch so advanced, you could almost say it keeps time forever. With its ice-blue dial, platinum bezel, and Breitling’s first-ever perpetual calendar chronograph movement, this isn’t just another release—it’s a statement piece, built to stand the test of time. So, What’s New? If you know the Navitimer, you know its signature look: the circular slide rule, the chronograph function, the sleek design that pilots and collectors alike have obsessed over since 1952. But this new edition? It’s something else. For the first time, the Navitimer gets a perpetual calendar chronograph movement—the Caliber B19. What does that mean for you? Well, this watch knows exactly how many days are in each month (even in leap years) and won’t need any major manual adjustments for 100 years. Yes, you read that right. One hundred years. A Cool Classic In Blue Let’s talk about looks. The Navitimer B19 comes dressed in a stunning ice-blue dial that plays with the light in all the right ways! It’s framed by a sleek platinum bezel, tucked into a 43mm stainless steel case that feels just right on the wrist. Flip it over and you get a see-through case back because let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to admire the magic happening inside? It also comes with two strap options: A black alligator leather strap (for that classic, sophisticated feel). A seven-row stainless steel bracelet (for a sleek, modern look). Whether you’re dressing up in a sharp suit or just keeping it casual on the weekend, this watch is going to look straight-up amazing on your wrist! Built To Last (Literally) Let’s get geeky for a second. Breitling’s Caliber B19 movement is COSC-certified, meaning it has passed some of the toughest accuracy tests in the industry. It also has a 96-hour power reserve, so even if you take it off for a few days, it’ll still be ticking when you put it back on. And here’s the real kicker: the movement undergoes an intense 16-year aging simulation before hitting the market. We’re talking 100,000 crown winds, 3.4 million weight turns, and 60,000 shocks at 500G. This thing is built like a tank—but an incredibly stylish one. Breitling’s Take On It Breitling’s CEO, Georges Kern , puts it best, “It takes a lot for us to use the word ‘icon,’ but the Navitimer has earned it. Combined with the perpetual calendar chronograph movement, the B19 is a tour de force, never missing a beat for a full century. It’s a watch that will keep time for generations.” And honestly? He’s spot on. Final Thoughts This isn’t just a watch—it’s a statement. A conversation starter. A piece of history on your wrist! Whether you’re a longtime Breitling fan or just love fine craftsmanship, the Navitimer B19 Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is something special. If you’ve ever wanted a timepiece built to last for generations, one that keeps ticking for a century, this might be the one. Check it out on Breitling’s official website and see for yourself. • The House of Chanel: History

The House of Chanel: History by Aparajita Jaiswal The House of Chanel: History 1 May 2021 FASHION Advertisement Coco Chanel, the artistic genius of a million dollar empire, who was born by the name of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, was a French fashion designer who ruled over Parisian haute couture for almost six decades. Her elegantly casual designs inspired women of fashion to abandon the complicated, uncomfortable clothes like petticoats and corsets that were prevalent in 19th-century dress code. Among her ever so classy innovations were the Chanel suit, the quilted purse, costume jewelry, and the “little black dress”. Although the cosmetics and perfume wing of the French fashion house began many years ago with a little fragrance called No5. It started life back in 1921 when Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel was already reigning over the Paris fashion world. Everyday is a fashion show, the world is our runway Coco Chanel Chanel was born into poverty in the French countryside. After a brief stint as a shop girl, Chanel worked for a few years as a café singer. She later, with financial assistance from Arthur Capel, opened a tiny millinery shop in Deauville, France, where she also sold simple sportswear, such as jersey sweaters. Within the span of mere five years, her use of jersey’s fabric to create a poor girl look had attracted the attention of influential wealthy women seeking relief from the prevalent corseted styles. Faithful to her belief that “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury,” Chanel’s designs stressed simplicity and comfort and revolutionized the fashion industry, changing uncomfortable corsets to leisure suits. Chanel enlisted a lot of financial help from various companies and wealthy gentlemen. The magnificent empire of Chanel no. 5 was first supported financially with the help of Ernst Beaux and introduced to the world in 1921 for the very first time. Ernst Beaux was one of the most-talented perfume creators in France. It is said that from the various samples procured by Ernst Beaux, Chanel chose the fifth sample, giving the perfume its official name. It was a combination of jasmine and several other floral scents that was more complex and mysterious than the single-scented perfumes then on the market. Chanel was the first major fashion designer to introduce a perfume and that she replaced the typical perfume packaging with a simple and sleek bottle also added to the scent’s success. She partnered with businessmen Théophile Bader of the Galeries Lafayette department store and Pierre Wertheimer of the Bourjois cosmetics company, who both agreed to help her produce more of her fragrance and to market it in exchange for a share of the profits. After signing a contract wherein she received only 10 percent of the royalties, Chanel enacted a series of lawsuits in the ensuing decades to regain control of her signature fragrance. Although she was never able to renegotiate the terms of her contract to increase her royalties, Chanel nonetheless made a considerable profit from the perfume. By the late 1920s the Chanel industries were reportedly worth millions and employed more than 2,000 people, not only in her couture house but also in a perfume laboratory, a textile mill, and a jewelry workshop. At the same time, Chanel started to expand and go global launching a cosmetics line in 1924 and a range of skincare products in 1929. Chanel closed her couture house in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II. Her associations with a German diplomat during the Nazi occupation tainted her reputation, and she did not return to fashion until 1954. That year she introduced her highly copied suit design: a collarless, braid-trimmed cardigan jacket with a graceful skirt. She also introduced bell-bottomed pants and other innovations while always retaining a clean classic look. In the 50s, Chanel No5 really was the perfume to be smelt in. In a 1954 interview, Marilyn Monroe famously answered the question “What do you wear to bed?” with the line “Just a few drops of No5”. After her death in 1971, Chanel’s couture house was led by a series of different designers, stabilizing the situation in 1983 when Karl Lagerfeld became chief designer. The popularity of the perfume continued to grow but this wasn’t necessarily a good thing. In the 1970s it was decided that No5 had lost its air of exclusivity so it was reinvented and made less widely available. Huge advertising campaigns were adopted using big name directors and big name stars; a Chanel tradition that lives on to this day. Chanel’s shrewd understanding of women’s fashion needs, her enterprising ambition, and the romantic aspects of her life, her rise from rags to riches and her sensational love affairs, continued to inspire numerous biographical books, films, and plays, including the 1970 Broadway musical Coco starring Katharine Hepburn. Chanel Today Today Chanel is 87 years old and worth $100 Million. Chanel is owned by by Alain Wertheimer and Gérard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of the couturière Coco Chanel. Chanel focuses exclusively on women’s high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods, and accessories. Chanel has a huge range of fancily-priced makeup with seasonal launches and limited edition collections that come thick and fast. In more recent years, something strange happens when Chanel launch a new shade. People get a bit giddy, waiting lists are formed and cheap copycats are produced. It is one of the top luxury brands, a classic understanding of from rags to riches and a desire of every woman across the globe. Overtime they have become exclusive, desired and rare which are the reasons why Chanel’s items are both popular and expensive. #Jasmine #Chanelno5 #Fashionindustry #Fashiondesigner #Corsets #Fashion #InèsdelaFressange #HouseofChanel #Broadwaymusical #Paris #Chanelscouturehouse #Perfume #WorldWarII #Chanel #Nazi #Littleblackdress #KatharineHepburn #Dress #France #KarlLagerfeld #French #Hautecouture #Petticoats #Jewelry #Scent #ErnstBeaux #CocoChanel SEARCH The Rich Heritage of Indian Handloom FASHION Fashion In The 19th Century FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION The Influence Of Kanye West On Fashion FASHION K-Pop Fashion And Its Impact On Global Wardrobe FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape AiSPi Wanderlust Diaries: Marzook, L’Afshar, And A Fashion Bender In Mumbai 25 April 2025 FASHION By Anushka Uniyal Kiyaan Silver: Timeless Jewellery For Every Woman 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra The Shoe Faktory Success Story: Ishpreet Singh Gujral’s Bold Business Leap 27 March 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Batra From Reality TV To Real Success: Nibedita Paal’s Inspiring Story 27 March 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS

  • Love Yourself

SOCIETY by Neha Pande Love Yourself 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement The 21st century has had some of the best inventions, theories, findings and the list goes on and on, but 21st century, especially 2017 and 2018, have also marked the beginning of body positivity for men and women. Now tell me how many times have you felt down thinking about your body? Thinking I’m fat or I’m too skinny or my arms are too long or my thighs need a thigh gap or maybe not. How many times have you looked into the mirror and felt sick of the way you look? But this year is the time when you leave all those worries behind and think positively about yourself and your body. Go to the gym because you want to be healthy, not skinny or eat a lot, not because you want more mass on your body, eat for yourself because it’s healthy for your body. Girls and guys at times get gloomy because of their body weight thinking “I’m getting too fat and I should probably go on a diet,” To them my answer is, No honey! No need to go on a diet! Because you look and are perfect just the way you are and let’s not forget in olden times a little bit of fat or plum was in fashion and now is coming back into fashion. The boys and girls who say “I’m too skinny, ” To them I’d like to say is that god you look beautiful and to my guy friends I’d like to say, you look handsome! I mean look at those collar bones, I want those. Beauty is subjective and it’s us who are making it objective but I’m proud of some high fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle for giving chances to models who do not fit the typical “model” standards that are tall, slim and oval shaped face models with great eyebrows. There has been a significant change in the fashion and makeup world which is embracing body positivity but there is always more scope as we still are hesitant towards it. We all should embrace ourselves and our bodies, go to the gym and exercise because it’s good for the body and eat yummy dishes because you deserve it! The best thing is nowadays we have amazing role models to look up to who talk about body positivity and how to embrace it, like Demi Lovato, Arjun Kapoor, Shane Dawson and many more who talk about how important it is to be body positive and spread body positivity. I mean if Robert Downey Jr. can be short and be the infamous Iron Man who has shaken up the movie industry. Our amazingly talented Adele can be plum and still embracing her body and rocking the stage, then we can also embrace our body and be positive about it. #BodyPositivitySelfloveLoveyourselfPositivityVogueEllePlussizeSkinnyDemiLovatoShaneDawsonRobertDowneyJuniorArjunKapoorAdeleBodylove SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS

  • Pad vs Banana

SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Pad vs Banana 19 April 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement What is Sex-education? I grew-up in a small town, where the people would receive a thrashing for uttering the word SEX. Writing the word SEX on any piece of paper, was no less than penning our own death warrant. Therefore, learning about it from our schoolbooks became impossible, and talking about it in the public was considered offensive. Along with my puberty came the age of 2G internet, and along with downloading video games setup on proxy servers, porn movies became the hot talk. These enabled the boys of my age to watch videos of penetrative sex. Yes, it was porn movies that gave us them first sex lessons. The debate of ban over pornography has always received mixed opinions, and even mine has fluctuated with time. Sex-education is certainly a must for every person in their late teenage and early adulthood. Particularly, for people like me who grow up in small towns with not much provided guidance. Having been a porn addict, I find myself qualified (read and learned) enough to write against pornography. Pornography lacks consent: I have watched many porn movies in which the female actors are seen undressing their male partners without their consent. The male actors are seen groping their female partners without their consent. Basically, pornography, in general promotes (at least supports) molestation in the name of sex. People may have different political, religious, and regional identities, but no one should consider molestation normal. Anyone defending pornography, for any intention, should at least not let this very thought slip away from their mind. Pornography encourages incest: A significant number of porn movies show the male actor having sex with a girl playing the role of his mother, sister, sister-in-law and even daughter. While the religions and cultures have different opinions on incest, research shows that incest is harmful to possible off springs. Majority of sex educators (gynaecologists) strongly oppose incest, and hence incest shouldn’t be encouraged in the name of sex through pornography. Sanitary napkins vs Bananas: A good porn movie (according to my younger version) is incomplete without a girl inserting unconventional items (like a banana) inside her private parts. The availability of such videos on the internet is a matter of disgrace. Sex education should be about spreading knowledge on the healthy menstrual cycle, sanitation of genitals, valuing consent, and so on. It should certainly not be about the ill-treatment of genitals but rather about EXPLORATION of sexuality. P.S.I do not intend to offend anyone. • How Koreans Eat And Drink Their Way To Beautiful Skin

By Anushka Sharma By Anushka Sharma How Koreans Eat And Drink Their Way To Beautiful Skin 20 June 2024 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Koreans are renowned for their glowing, youthful complexions, and it’s no secret that diet plays a significant role in their skincare regimen. While the world often marvels at their intricate beauty routines, the foundation of their enviable skin lies in the foods and drinks they consume daily. From fermented vegetables to soothing teas, Korean cuisine is packed with nutrients that promote healthy, radiant skin. Here’s a closer look at some of the key elements of the Korean diet that contribute to beautiful skin. Kimchi: The Fermented Marvel Kimchi, a staple in Korean households, is a spicy, fermented cabbage dish that offers numerous benefits for the skin. This pungent dish is loaded with garlic, chili, and antioxidants that help fight the aging process and promote an even complexion. Selenium and other nutrients in kimchi enhance skin elasticity and clarity. Eaten with almost every meal, kimchi adds a flavorful punch to dishes while nourishing the skin from within. Despite its strong smell that can dominate your fridge, kimchi is a must-try for anyone looking to improve their skin health naturally. Seaweed Soup (Miyeok Guk): Nutrient-Rich Tradition Seaweed soup, known as Miyeok Guk, is a traditional dish consumed especially during breakfast and on birthdays. This custom stems from the practice of giving new mothers seaweed soup to replenish vital nutrients lost during childbirth. Rich in sulfates, seaweed has a soothing effect on the skin and helps maintain its elasticity. By choosing seaweed soup over sugary birthday treats, Koreans ensure their skin remains youthful and vibrant, even as they celebrate another year. Soybean Soup (Doenjang Jjigae): The Antioxidant Powerhouse Doenjang Jjigae, a beloved soybean soup, is a daily fixture in Korean meals. Made from fermented soybean paste, this soup is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants that protect the skin from UV damage and environmental stressors. The affordability and nutritional benefits of soybeans make this dish a popular choice, proving that effective skincare can also be cost-effective. Incorporating Doenjang Jjigae into your diet can help shield your skin from damage and maintain its natural glow. Barley Tea (Bori Cha): The Circulation Booster Barley tea, or Bori Cha, is a refreshing beverage enjoyed hot in the winter and cold in the summer. Known for its deep, nutty flavor, barley tea is consumed in large quantities by Koreans for its health benefits, particularly for the skin. This tea enhances circulation, which is crucial for keeping the skin firm and promoting cell regeneration. Swapping out your usual coffee for barley tea can significantly benefit your skin, making it a simple yet effective addition to your skincare routine. Fermented Rice Wine (Makgeolli): The Skin Brightener Makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice wine, is more than just a drink; it's a skincare elixir. Unlike other alcoholic beverages, Makgeolli is rich in vitamin B and amino acids, which help brighten the skin and even out the complexion. It's also beneficial for treating acne. The skincare benefits of Makgeolli have inspired a variety of beauty products, including sheet masks and serums. Enjoying Makgeolli not only adds a touch of indulgence to your meals but also contributes to healthier, more radiant skin. The secret to Koreans’ beautiful skin lies in their dietary choices, which are rich in nutrients that support skin health. From the antioxidant-rich kimchi and nutrient-packed seaweed soup to the circulation-boosting barley tea and skin-brightening Makgeolli, these foods and drinks are integral to maintaining a youthful, radiant complexion. By incorporating these elements into your diet, you can harness the power of Korean cuisine to achieve beautiful skin from the inside out.
