  • How To Find And Where To Look For Your Ikigai

How To Find And Where To Look For Your Ikigai by Aarti Singh How To Find And Where To Look For Your Ikigai 29 October 2022 LIFESTYLE Advertisement Ikigai (生き甲斐), a Japanese concept which means purpose of living. To put it simply, a reason of being. The cause for which you wake up every morning. Something that gives you direction in life. Something that moves you and gives you a reason to keep trying, keep going on, no matter what. Your purpose needn’t be as huge as World Peace. Infact the one time you should be truly and genuinely selfish is while looking for the purpose of your life. Your purpose should be yours only. It should be special and personal to you. Afterall it’s yours. It’s yours to build, it’s yours to work upon, it’s yours to wake up to, it’s yours to sleep to, it’s yours to dream, it’s yours to achieve. Your purpose, your calling is the one thing in the world that is completely yours and no one else can take it from you. Your reason does not need to make sense to anyone but you. And you know what, it should not. It makes sense to you, and that’s enough because you’re the only one who gets a say in this matter. You might think that the most critical decisions in your lives are maybe your choice of subject, or your partner, or maybe the college you want to go to. But no, the most important decision of your life is whether you really want to find your purpose or whether you want to lead a life without ever knowing your full-potential. Because your full potential can only be unlocked when you’re doing something you love whole heartedly and believe in. Your Ikigai is something so very personal. Just like that diary you made when you were a teenager. Your purpose consists of all your failures, your hardships, your success, your attempts, your good days, your bad days, your self-doubt, everything. But most importantly, it has seen you try even when you were at your lowest and were considering to give up. But you know what the most tiresome part of this process is? It’s not the numerous failures. It’s definitely not the self-doubt. It is the search. The search for you Ikigai. The search for your purpose. Maybe you haven’t found your purposed yet. Or maybe your purpose hasn’t found you yet. But that, my friend, is the beauty of it. That you can go look for it yourself. You can look for it right now if you want. Look for it in the deepest darkest crevices of those nights where nothing seemed to make sense, look for it in the firs ray of sunshine on the mornings which felt like a new start, look for it in the classes that always felt useless, look for it in the clouds which were too stormy and in the silver rays of hope which shone after it, look for it in the daydreams that you’d rather live in and look for it in the nightmare you never wanna relive. Your reason will start as a dream initially. It will seem like something that you have to achieve one day. Sometimes it may also seem like a hazy wish but you have the power to make it your reality because it isn’t something you achieve, no, it is something that you cherish everyday as you wake up. It is not a pedestal, it is something in you, that makes you, you. Your purpose should be yours only. It should be special and personal to you. Afterall it’s yours. • Victoria’s Secret’s Bombshell Turns 15: A Fragrance That Still Owns The Room

By Shriniwas Kodape By Shriniwas Kodape Victoria’s Secret’s Bombshell Turns 15: A Fragrance That Still Owns The Room 3 June 2025 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Some perfumes fade into the background, and then there are those that define a moment. A decade and a half ago, Victoria’s Secret launched Bombshell—a fragrance that didn’t just sit pretty on a vanity but boldly claimed its space in culture, closets, and memory. Fifteen years later, Bombshell is not simply returning for a nostalgic nod; she’s stepping back into the spotlight with all the elegance, charm, and quiet ferocity that made her a household name. Let’s be honest: the early 2010s were saturated with scents. But Bombshell didn’t just join the party—she threw her own. Crafted by perfumer Adriana Medina, it was a fragrance that didn’t tiptoe into the room. It strode in, heels clicking, leaving behind a trail of fruity-floral intrigue. The formula was feminine but not fragile—think passionfruit, peony, and a whisper of vanilla orchid. It was sweet, yes, but with an undeniable edge. The kind of scent you’d wear on both a first date and a boardroom pitch. It didn’t just smell good; it smelled intentional. Now, as the fragrance marks its fifteenth year, Victoria’s Secret has gifted Bombshell a complete moment. The limited-edition 15th Anniversary bottle gleams like it knows it’s the centerpiece. Sleek, structured, and bathed in high-gloss pink, it pays homage to the original design while upgrading it with a sharper, modern elegance. The signature stripes are still present—like a wink from the past—but the overall silhouette feels grown, grounded, and glamorously minimal. This anniversary isn't just about a new bottle. It’s a global celebration of what the fragrance has meant to millions. From Manhattan’s cobblestoned Gansevoort Plaza to the heart of Kuala Lumpur and even the buzzing fashion energy of Riyadh, the Bombshell pop-ups were not perfume counters—they were immersive experiences. Picture pink-hued florals cascading across archways, scent bars where visitors could discover their perfect match, exclusive merch drops, and branded cafés with rose-tinted lattes. It wasn’t just marketing—it was memory-making. The kind of experience where fragrance and fantasy blur. In each city, women lined up not only for selfies and samples but for something quieter, more personal: a reminder of who they were when they first wore Bombshell. A return to that spark. Fronting the campaign is model Devyn Garcia , who brings an effortless magnetism to the reimagined Bombshell story. Photographed by Lachlan Bailey and styled by Emmanuelle Alt, the visuals are stripped of overproduction and rich with intimacy. Gone are the flashbulbs and maximalism of past eras—replaced instead with softness, natural light, and quiet confidence. Devyn doesn’t shout. She doesn’t need to. She embodies a woman who knows herself—and that’s the point. Bombshell has matured, but she hasn’t lost her spark. She’s simply shifted her power inward. At the center of it all is Adriana Medina, who reflects on what it means to create a fragrance that’s become iconic. “I never imagined how many women this scent would connect with,” she says. “It represents a kind of empowered femininity—sensual, but self-assured. That’s what keeps it alive, even fifteen years later.” And she’s right. Because Bombshell is more than notes and chords—it’s nostalgia. For many, it was the first perfume they saved up for. The one that got them compliments on elevators. The one they wore to graduation, to heartbreak, to new beginnings. It’s the invisible signature that lingered after the goodbye. A spritz of Bombshell isn’t just a scent—it’s a return to self. In an era where the fragrance industry constantly chases the next “clean” or “genderless” formula, there’s something almost rebellious about Bombshell’s steadfast femininity . She never deluded herself. She never tried to be everything for everyone. She’s pink, she’s unapologetic, and she’s timeless—not because she resists change, but because she evolves without losing herself. Fifteen years is no small feat in an industry that often thrives on reinvention. But Bombshell didn’t just survive the trend cycles—she transcended them. She stayed relevant not by shapeshifting, but by growing alongside the women who wore her. So here she is—sharper, sleeker, and as magnetic as ever. Not looking back, but walking forward. A little wiser, just as bold. The 15th Anniversary collection is now available in Victoria’s Secret stores and online. The Eau de Parfum is accompanied by mist, lotion, and even a diffuser—because why should your apartment smell like anything less than your best self? Bombshell at 15 is more than a birthday. It’s a statement: Some icons don’t fade. They just get better with time. • Festival of Stones

SOCIETY by Neha Pande Festival of Stones 27 July 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Bagwal also known as DevidhuraFair is celebrated at Maa Varahi Devi Temple in Devidhura located at a distance of 45km from Lohaghat in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand. Devidhura also marks the tri-junction of Almora, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts and is famous for its rich cultural fair that is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm. This fair is celebrated every year during Rakshabandhan that falls on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. Thousands of people from Uttarakhand and Nepal come to visit this grand fair. Bagwal is celebrated by dividing four different groups, collectively known as ‘Khams’. The four groups are four different tribes – Gharwal Kham, Chamyal Kham, Lamgriha Kham and Valig Kham. The fair starts out with the worship of Goddess Varahi, after the worship Prasad is distributed and this is when everything gets a bit tricky. The members of each Kham position themselves on the four corners of the field of the temple and the priest commences the festival with the sound of the ‘shankh’/shell. Bagwal is no normal festival with just worship and joy but here the Khams are fighters who carry sticks, stones and a farra/shield for the fight. These fighters throw stones at one another while at the same time protecting themselves with the shield. It does not matter how wounded or injured they get, the fight does not stop till the priest concludes the fight with the sound of the ‘shankh’. While the fight is going on the rest of the attendees cheer their teams with fight drums, folk songs and folk dances. After the fight all the injured are treated with ‘bichchu grass’ ie. Urtica Dioca. The Myth behind the Bagwal festival:- According to the myth, there once was a tradition of sacrificing a man (Narbali) from the Kham each year to Goddess Varahi. On one such year, it was the turn of this old woman to sacrifice her grandson, with a heavy heart and mind full of devotion she prepared her grandson for the sacrifice. This touched the Goddess’s heart and she spared his life under the condition that an equal amount of blood should be offered to her. Since that day, Bagwal fair is celebrated by the people where the members of each Kham throw stones at each other in order to draw sacrificial blood for Goddess Varahi. Reason for taking this Cultural Fair :- The main reason I choose to write upon Bagwal cultural fair is because my hometown is in Uttarakhand and I also wanted to address the issue of ‘Bali’/Sacrifice. Sacrificing animals as well as people have been going on in our religion as well as many other religions since the dawn of time; from Mayan, Pagan, Hinduism, Muslim etc. Sacrifice or ‘Bali’ in Hindu religion has its own significance, it is symbolic of getting rid of 6 evil forces/enemies ie. Kama– Lust Krodha – Anger Lobha–Greed Mada– Pride Moha – Attachments Matsarya – Jealousy By the sacrificial festival of Bagwal the basic idea of sacrificing men or animals was stopped yet the sacrificial blood was spilled by the act of fighting and throwing stones at each other. Our culture and heritage is one of the oldest; yet, I wanted to showcase some of the flaws in it which have changed and evolved but are still there. In August 2019, 100 men got injured under 10 minutes while celebrating Bagwal in Champwant district, Uttarakhand on Thursday. Even though the human sacrifice was stopped yet, hundreds of people got injured which is not a small thing. This is just one small case, there are many more cases tied up to this festival. Even though there is a high court ban on the use of stones during the festival yet the locals seem to sneak in with stones while outsmarting the authorities.Even a lot of local authorities encourage this practice instead of putting a stop on it. I personally believe that the concept behind ‘Bali’ is not bad because every Dussehra we burn Ravan as a sign of victory of good over evil, just like that ‘Bali’ is the concept of sacrificing 6 evils to the goddess yet the literal concept of ‘Bali’ ie. To sacrifice a living breathing creature or to injure one another is completely wrong. God didn’t make us to harm each other therefore the literal concept of ‘Bali’ should be condemned just like the literal practice of Bagwal should be put to an end. The ideology, unlike the festival, should carry on and pass on from generation to generation. Bagwal is a beautiful festival from Kumaon, Uttarakhand which should be celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, without harming each other as the concept of Bagwal is beautiful just like the myth. Bagwal is the story of love and sacrifice therefore it should be practiced with love and sacrifice of our inner demons instead of throwing stones towards each other to draw out blood as a symbol. The festival is a perfect blend of folk songs, folk dances and folklores. And just like Bagwal our country has hundreds of festivals and practices with a beautiful story but an unlikely tragic execution. #MohaAttachments #Myth #6evilforcesenemiesie #Devidhurafair #Tribal #Regionalfestival #IndianMyths #Indianfestival #MaaVarahiDeviTemple #Bagwalfestival #MatsaryaJealousy #Champawatdistrict #KrodhaAnger #Shravan #Sacrifice #Culturalfair #Lohaghat #IndianRitual #Uttarakhand #LobhaGreed #MaaVarahi #KamaLust #Rituals #Bali #Khams #MadaPride #Rakshabandhan SEARCH Why India is the most depressed country in the world? • Four Seasons Bangkok: Elegance On The Edge Of Madness

By Shriniwas Kodape By Shriniwas Kodape Four Seasons Bangkok: Elegance On The Edge Of Madness 21 July 2025 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The boy at the ferry terminal had a cigarette tucked behind his ear and a cobra tattoo curling down his neck. He didn’t say a word. Just pointed upriver, where the brown Chao Phraya slid slow and wide, like the city had been bleeding into it for centuries. The boat pulled up—silent, carved teak and polished brass, elegant in a way that felt like a setup. I stepped aboard like a man unsure if he’d packed enough sins to deserve what was coming. Bangkok doesn’t offer warm welcomes. She eats your shoes, kisses your cheek, and leaves her perfume on your collar while she vanishes into traffic. But ride the river long enough—past grilled pork skewers, alleyways that smell like diesel and durian, monks with AirPods—and you’ll hit a lull in the madness. That’s where Four Seasons Bangkok lives. Not stands. Lives. This isn’t a hotel. It’s a whispered confession of what hospitality could be if we all just tried a little harder. You don’t enter. You get absorbed. First by stillness: sheets of water like glass, marble that hums underfoot, ceilings that arch like they’ve been blessed. Art isn’t an afterthought here. It leans toward you like it’s got secrets to tell. And then there’s the scent—jasmine, bergamot, maybe a dash of whatever the ultra-rich wear when they want to feel grounded. Subtle. Addictive. My room overlooked the river. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped the view like a confession. The Chao Phraya didn’t pose for pictures. It moved, muttered, judged. Temples blinked gold across the way, while barges slithered past like half-sunken beasts. I sat on the bed longer than I care to admit, just watching the sky soften into a mango-stained hush, and wondering when I last let myself be still. But stillness in Bangkok is a fragile thing. I headed for Yu Ting Yuan—the kind of name that rolls off the tongue like a lie you want to believe. It’s Michelin-recommended now (once starred, and still proud). The lacquered duck was divine. The dim sum? Heartbreak in a bamboo steamer. The service knew me before I opened my mouth. I didn’t eat. I surrendered. Next came Riva del Fiume, the hotel’s ode to Italy. Think Amalfi with Bangkok’s swagger. Breakfast turned spiritual: buttery croissants, mango like flame, espresso that understood my problems but never judged. By the third morning, I’d stopped checking the menu. The staff knew what I needed better than I did. But it’s after dark that Four Seasons really seduces. BKK Social Club isn’t a bar. It’s a fever dream in velvet and glass. The kind of place where Anthony Bourdain would’ve ordered a negroni and never left. I chugged four. Each one more perfect than the last—Campari, vermouth, gin, ice cold and unapologetically bitter. The kind of bitter that makes you feel seen. I had something called Bananazo too—rum, cacao, banana bitters. It tasted like Havana and burned like Buenos Aires. The bartender didn’t talk much. Just nodded like a priest serving penance. And when I finally stumbled out—high on citrus and sins—I felt more myself than I had in years. The next morning, salvation called from The Urban Wellness Center. 2,500 square meters of forgiveness. Thai massage. Quartz stones. A therapist who cracked my joints with the precision of a surgeon and the tenderness of a monk. I came out smelling like lemongrass and absolution. But the genius of Four Seasons Bangkok isn’t in the duck or the drinks or the divine spa. It’s in the spaces between. The silence before the jazz kicks in. The way the light hits the pool at 5:47 PM. The staff remembering your name like it’s a poem, not a job. The world still spun madly outside. Tuk-tuks screamed. The markets throbbed. Somewhere, a tourist ordered a fishbowl cocktail and made a mistake. But not here. Here, the river slowed. The wind hushed. And for a few stolen days, I didn’t need to run. I was home. However, she just happened to be discovered at that age by the late fashion designer Wendell Rodricks, and felt extremely fortunate to have worked under his guidance. “He held my hand and never let go. I was very very lucky and very very fortunate to have someone like him (Wendell)”, she said. Having achieved milestones early on in her career, Waluscha mentioned how she became the face of Wendell’s clothing brand, got to be on the cover of a Femina magazine at the age of 17, and starred in a Pepsi commercial with Shah Rukh Khan at the same age. She also talked about how she went onto becoming MTV’s fresh face, and walked in the first Lakm é fashion week in India. She expressed immense gratitude towards Wendell Rodricks for all these achievements. “I owe him so much. So much of what I am today wouldn’t have been possible without him. For me, the journey was smooth with a few bumps along the way, but when I look back I’m just very grateful for having somebody like that in my life.” Waluscha comes from a mixed cultural background, being half Goan-Portuguese (from her father’s side) and half German (from her mother’s side). She was asked how this affected her career, and if it hampered it in any way. Her response: “Yes and no. I inherited my mother’s external appearance. This helped me immensely in the glamour industry. Although, I am inherently very much Indian and I’ve inherited this from my father.” She explained how India and Indian culture played a huge role in her life. “I was born and brought up in India, studied in India, and have my friends and family here.“ On the other hand, Waluscha also talked about some hardships she faced in the film industry. “Unfortunately I didn’t see the same embrace in the film industry. There was this preconceived notion in everybody’s heads that I was not Indian and didn’t speak the language, or I’m not desi, when it’s actually quite the contrary.” She said that she knew how to read and write in not only Hindi, but having grown up in Goa, was fluent in Marathi and Konkani just as well. “All the work that I’ve done in web-series and films has helped me break this notion.” Starting her career as a model, Waluscha only later ventured into the film industry. When asked if this was always her goal or if it happened inevitably, she replied that acting was something she always wanted to do. “The arts were something which always attracted me. Goa is a land filled with singers, musicians, and theatre. I was always drawn to the stage, and you would have seen me on the stage much more than you would see me in the classroom. It was a space that I really enjoyed and it was always inherently who I was. “ Waluscha also appeared to be incredibly enlightened by the response that her latest series- Tanaav, has received. “Tanaav has helped me break the notion that I am in some way un-Indian much more than any of my other work done in the past. The response that has come in post Tanaav has been overwhelming. I cannot even describe the feeling. Two days post it’s release, suddenly everyone knew my name, people who matter actually saw and appreciated my work…” Tanaav is a Hindi-language action thriller streaming on Sony Liv, revolving around conflict in the Kashmir Valley. It is a remake of the Israeli TV series Fauda, which is streamed internationally on Netflix. Waluscha plays the role of Zainab Riaz in the show. • Lana Scolaro: Breaking Barriers In The Male-Dominated Music Industry

Lana Scolaro: Breaking Barriers In The Male-Dominated Music Industry by Anushka Sharma Lana Scolaro: Breaking Barriers In The Male-Dominated Music Industry 2 March 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement Lana Scolaro, a rising star in the electronic music scene, has been breaking barriers in the male-dominated industry since she first stepped behind the decks. Hailing from Ibiza, the birthplace of electronic music, Lana's passion for music began at a young age. She played the cello and keyboard and was surrounded by DJs and music every summer. This exposure sparked her interest in pursuing a career as a DJ. In an industry where men dominate the scene, Lana faced some challenges as a female DJ. Some venues and people did not take her seriously due to her ultra-feminine style and look. However, Lana did not let this deter her from achieving her dreams. She persevered, constantly producing music, and releasing at least one song a month. She also participated in podcasts, interviews, and radio shows, always looking for new sounds to keep her relevant in the industry. As an artist, Lana has a unique vision that she balances with the demands of the music industry and her fans. Currently, she is incorporating her creative vision in the digital metaverse, where she has created her own dream house that is already in the NFT Oasis. This way, her music can be displayed, and fans can watch her in concert in the digital world. Lana is continuously evolving, and her creative vision is evident in her work. Throughout her career, Lana has been influenced by several artists, including Solomun, Santiago Garcia, Rami Bedouin, and Luciano, whom she watched perform in Ibiza. However, Gwen Stefani is the artist she looks up to the most. She adores Gwen Stefani's music, and she loves her style. Lana relates to the emotions that go into Gwen Stefani's songs and finds her inspiring. Apart from music, Lana loves painting and producing short animation projects. If not a DJ, she would have chosen to be an actress or a painter. When asked about her advice to aspiring female DJs, she encourages them to keep practicing and mixing on CDJs. She also advises them to put their music out on SoundCloud, YouTube, and every platform possible to be heard. Showcasing your music and getting feedback from fans is crucial to success. Touring and traveling can be challenging, but Lana manages to balance her personal and professional life with four phones. One of her most memorable performances was at the Texas Road to Nowhere Festival. It was her first time in Texas, and she was not supposed to play, but her good friend Chanel West Coast put her on stage and let her perform her single "Rick Ross." Lana envisions the future of the music industry as a digital metaverse, where people can watch her DJ in the virtual world. Her current and future projects include collaborating with brands in the fashion industry, producing a unique track with a male artist, and working on a new collection for her jewelry line LS Diamonds. With her drive, creativity, and passion for music, Lana Scolaro is sure to make waves in the industry and continue breaking barriers for female DJs. • The Icon of Minimalistic Fashion

The Icon of Minimalistic Fashion by Aparajita Jaiswal The Icon of Minimalistic Fashion 16 July 2021 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement From a mediocre hat designer to one of the prime influences on American Fashion, Halston emerged as one of the greatest illustrators of minimalism and luxurious fashion. As halter necks still tend to be one of the greatest trends in fashion today, one shall go back to the 1970s when Halston gave the halter neck an upgrade with his luxurious touch. Surrounded with silk tranquillity, his halter dress which he designed for his closest one, Liza Minnelli gained immense amount of recognition. It was simple, classic, sophisticated in every way with a hint of luxury. In the most momentous fashion shows in the history of American Fashion, The Battle of Versailles, his victory marked the birth of an icon with his magic and gained gigantic fame. He was also notable for the diversity of race and culture in his models which represented his art. His work and closed affiliation with some of the renowned faces like Andy Warhol and Bianca Jagger brought him more recognition. Halston created a water-proof trench coat, expanding his brand across the country. As much as he liked to party at the Studio 54, he gave birth to Disco-Dressing and entered the world of shimmer in the form glitzy glam and sequined outfits. But nothing took take place of the glamour of the Halter, which was popularized across America. His appeal of sophisticated fashion comes from the fantastic choice of materials he used for his designs. From cashmere silk to shimmering satin, Halston had it all. The brand logo itself expressed Halston’s love for minimalism. If one watched the Netflix documentary “ Halston”, they could notice how he surrounded himself with minimalism, through his choice of dark colours in his house and his office furnished with red walls and glass. His day to day black outfits with long coats of mostly beige, expressed his monochromatic lifestyle. Growing a brand by creating vast varieties of products and lines can be very challenging, but Halston loved challenges. Beginning with dresses refining classy appeal, he introduced his monochromatic taste through a line of luxurious luggage, red carpets, aviators, bath robes, and what not. Eventually, He ended up selling his brand and his name to Norton Simon Inc. For which he was offered approximately 11 million dollars. He became the Creative Director of the brand he founded. Side by side, Halston became an addict of cocaine consumption because of his regular visit to Studio 54. He also faced relationship crisis the same time his business was steeply moving towards decline. A dialogue of Halston (Ewan McGregor) from the Netflix documentary, – “ I must be a real artist because I am a terrible businessman” – touches ones heart. Money brings fame, but it can also take away everything. Halston spent his last days driving to San Francisco, soon after he was tested positive for AIDS related lung cancer. After two years in Francisco, the world lost an iconic designer in March 1990. Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded by Aishwarya Is Fragrance in Skincare of Concern: Decoded 3 November 2022 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Fragrances play a huge role in our day-to-day life. They are an important aspect of our life. Often we human beings associate a certain person, food, incident or event, with the fragrance that reminds us of them. They play the role of making us feel nostalgic and associate with the source even more. While we all love a good fragrance, some people seem to have problems with perfume being in skin care. Though unfortunately, there isn’t a clear answer to whether fragrance in skincare is bad or not, still there is a lot of controversies surrounding it. A nice-smelling face mask seems like a perfect match for your me-time routine, but for some, it's the worst thing to do for their skin. The fragrance has become controversial in recent years, and the credit goes to YouTube videos, Subreddit threads, and many other social media platforms. According to a study, the American Academy of Dermatology suggests that fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact dermatitis , which affects roughly 1% of the population. As you can see, the number is quite nominal. So whether your skin could suffer some irritation due to scented skincare or not, is subjective and complex. On top of that, there isn’t a particular way to find out whether your skin will get irritated or not. There are two types of fragrances, that can be used in your skincare; synthetic and natural. Your basic instinct would be to opt for natural fragrances. But is natural always better than chemicals? Generally, the natural scent has a shelf life of around one to two years, while synthetic fragrances has a shelf life of five years. Natural fragrances are derived from a natural source, like lavender or rose. They aren’t created by humans, so they are available in just one form; all-natural. The only problem with natural fragrances is their shelf life, rather than that it serves its purpose. Now, that being said, even natural essential oils can cause severe skin irritation.
