- Unraveling The Luxurious Tapestry: A Journey Through The History Of Cashmere
Unraveling The Luxurious Tapestry: A Journey Through The History Of Cashmere By Anushka Sharma Unraveling The Luxurious Tapestry: A Journey Through The History Of Cashmere 27 February 2024 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Nestled high in the Himalayan mountains, there exists a fabric so exquisite, so revered, that it has adorned royalty and captivated fashionistas for centuries. This fabric is none other than cashmere, a material synonymous with luxury, elegance, and unparalleled softness. But what is the story behind this remarkable fiber? Let us embark on a journey through time to uncover the rich history of cashmere. The tale of cashmere goes back to the ancient lands of Kashmir, a region known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. It was here, over a thousand years ago, that the indigenous Kashmiri goats roamed the rugged terrain, their fine undercoat protecting them from the harsh mountain winters. The local artisans discovered the secret hidden within this fleece, and thus, the art of cashmere weaving was born. Intrigued by the remarkable properties of cashmere, merchants from distant lands began to trade for this precious commodity, transporting it along the ancient Silk Road to destinations as far-reaching as Europe and the Middle East. By the 14th century, cashmere had become a coveted luxury, sought after by nobility and aristocracy across the globe. During the Renaissance period, cashmere reached new heights of popularity as the European royalty graced in sumptuous cashmere shawls, often intricately embroidered with elaborate designs. These shawls became symbols of wealth and status, and were considered to be prized possessions which were passed down through generations as cherished heirlooms. The fascination with cashmere continued to flourish into the 19th century, spurred on by the romanticism of the Orientalist movement. European artists and writers depicted the exotic allure of the East, further fueling the demand for all things Kashmiri, including the coveted cashmere shawls. However, as the Industrial Revolution swept across Europe, the production of cashmere underwent a significant transformation. Advancements in technology enabled mass production, making cashmere more accessible to the burgeoning middle class. Yet, despite the increased availability, the allure of authentic, handcrafted Kashmiri cashmere remained unmatched. In the 20th century, cashmere experienced a resurgence in popularity, becoming a staple in high-end fashion houses and designer collections. Celebrities and trendsetters alike coveted the luxurious feel and timeless elegance of cashmere garments, further cementing its status as a symbol of sophistication and refinement. Today, the legacy of cashmere endures, with artisans in Kashmir continuing to uphold centuries-old traditions of craftsmanship and quality. While modern techniques have streamlined production, the essence of true cashmere remains unchanged – a testament to the enduring appeal of this remarkable fiber. Yet, the story of cashmere is not without its challenges. Environmental concerns and ethical considerations surrounding the treatment of cashmere goats have prompted calls for sustainable practices within the industry. As consumers become increasingly conscious of the origins of their garments, there is a growing demand for transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain. Despite these challenges, the allure of cashmere persists, transcending time and trends. Whether draped over the shoulders of royalty or adorning the shelves of luxury boutiques, cashmere continues to captivate and inspire, weaving a timeless tale of luxury, tradition, and enduring beauty. So, the next time you wrap yourself in the soft embrace of a cashmere sweater, take a moment to appreciate the centuries of history and craftsmanship that have gone into creating this truly remarkable fabric. - Emporio Armani SS26 Is What Effortless Actually Looks Like Right Now
Emporio Armani SS26 Is What Effortless Actually Looks Like Right Now By Sakshi Shah Emporio Armani SS26 Is What Effortless Actually Looks Like Right Now 13 April 2026 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement I keep coming back to one thought while going through the Spring Summer 2026 collection from Emporio Armani . What does it actually mean to return to your origins? Because this collection doesn’t feel nostalgic, and it definitely doesn’t pause. If anything, it moves with more ease than before. Titled Origins , it reads less like a reflection of the past and more like a quiet realignment with it, like understanding your foundation so well that you no longer need to hold onto it so tightly. That shift is felt immediately in the clothes. The tailoring is still there, unmistakably Armani, but it’s softened in a way that changes how it sits on the body. Jackets don’t feel stiff or imposed anymore, they fall into place, while trousers stretch longer, slightly undone, almost grazing the ground with an effortlessness that feels intentional but not controlled. There’s a looseness running through the silhouettes that redefines what precision can look like. Not rigid, but assured. Some of the strongest moments come through in the more fluid pieces. Tunic style layers, draped outerwear, and those in between garments that don’t quite belong to one category create a wardrobe that feels open rather than defined. They sit somewhere between structured and relaxed, formal and effortless, and that ambiguity feels very current. It doesn’t tell you how to wear it, it simply allows you to. The collection also opens itself to a broader cultural conversation, but does so with a certain restraint that feels considered. Geometric patterns, textured surfaces, and artisanal nuances hint at African influences, yet nothing feels literal or overstated. The details are absorbed into the collection rather than standing apart from it, becoming part of its language in a way that feels natural. What ties everything together is the sense of movement. Fabrics feel light, responsive, almost weightless at times, shifting with the body instead of holding it in place. Even the more layered looks carry a kind of airiness that makes them feel lived in before they’re even worn. Clothing that moves, rather than performs. The palette follows that same sense of quiet control. Earth tones dominate, sun washed neutrals layered with deeper shades that add dimension without disrupting the calm. It’s not a colour story that demands attention, but one that rewards it the longer you look. There’s a subtle richness to it that feels deeply intentional. What I find most interesting, though, is how the idea of identity is handled throughout the collection. There’s a fluidity not just in silhouette, but in intention, where the lines between masculine and feminine, structured and soft, traditional and modern begin to blur. So what are we actually returning to? Not a specific time or place, but perhaps a way of dressing that feels instinctive again, less about performance and more about awareness. In a moment where fashion often leans into excess, Emporio Armani takes a quieter route. It refines instead of reinvents, softens instead of exaggerates, and in doing so, feels unexpectedly relevant. Because this isn’t a collection that asks for attention. It earns it, slowly. And somewhere between the fluid tailoring, the grounded palette, and that sense of ease, you realise that Origins was never about going back. It was about knowing exactly where you stand, and finally dressing like it. - In An Earnest Colloquy With Patricia Contreras
In An Earnest Colloquy With Patricia Contreras by Anushka Sharma In An Earnest Colloquy With Patricia Contreras 10 April 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement Patricia is most definitely an au naturel when it comes to acing the realm of fashion, art and beauty. Here’s us, encapsulating a bit of her life that she shares with us in much fondness. How are you? How’s life going? I am glad to share my path today with your community, it is an honor to be here to talk about my life. Everything is going very well, I have a lot of meetings, trips, and interesting people to meet. I am grateful with life for all the paths I am living, if I imagine all I am living today is exactly what I dreamt about when I was a child.” Well, it indeed is a rarity to be doing what you’ve always wished to do indeed! When asked about Beauty, fashion, art: If she could pick one and only one of these, what would it be and why? I am an artist, and expressing my creativity everyday is a must for me, I have always dreamed of having big collaboration with big brands like Vuitton, or with brands that align to my vision and moto in life, to reply to your question, I can’t choose one topic is just the way I can express and create something that drives my purpose everyday. We’ve been loving your fashion looks lately. Do you have any unpopular facts you’d want to share with us about the fashion weeks you attend? Style is the most important for me, not only in clothes but in everything I do, since I was a kid I always wanted to add my personal touch to everything I do. I have worked with many stylists and my style has grown through the years, I had experimented every single possible style with clothes, hair and makeup, I think I have tried it all and now I am focusing to develop a street - high fashion style, in my opinion is what is working now, we came to an era that everything is mixed now, we have to adapt everyday, I am open to collaborate with new brands, is part of my job. I love to experiment. If I can give advice, it is to not be afraid to experiment, or to not try to fit in the box, go far away from your comfort zone. If not in this industry, where else would you see yourself? I see myself in the United Nations or inside a laboratory experimenting new ways to improve health, DNA issues, I am a geek inside of me, I just love to learn and study. Well, this definitely brought a smile to our face! How rare is it to see such a bewitching combination! When asked about what inspires her art, she says, “My art is inspired by cinema icons, fashion legends, art movements during the time, everything that make an impact on society, art is the most powerful way to express the evolution of a society, art is power and is the ultimate luxury to manifest a position.” Patricia dons a lot of hats at once. We couldn’t help but ask where she sees herself ten years from now, to which she replied,”I do not make plans that long term, but certainly I would like to have the opportunity to create collaborations with fashion brands, make up brands, having my own talkshow, I will let life to surprise me, maybe life can change dramatically, who knows.” Which designer do you look up to in terms of haute couture? I admire and follow designers who know how to enhance the woman, who can magnify her beauty, I can list my favorite ones lately, Valdrin Sahiti, Georges Hobeika, Rick Owens, Dolce and Gabbana, Zuhair Murad, JeanPaul Gaultier, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, I think all of them know how to catch the true essence of a woman, there are so many out there, but I just love these ones. Have you ever considered exploring the Indian fashion industry? I have always been very curious about the Indian market. I admire and share their millenary culture, I have many Indian friends and it is my dream to explore India one time on a long trip. I love their cinema too and the people, very warm and kind. About fashion I only know Manish Arora that I used to assist at his show in Paris. At what age did you start involving yourself into the world of art? I was born an artist, I think art is a path that either you born with it or not, you can’t learn this, you have to born with it, since I was 3 I was already painting, everything I was doing was creative, I knew since the beginning that I was not like the rest of my class, I always feel different, the only thing I was interested in was drawing, painting, or plastic classes, I even wonder why I didn’t just did that, I need time to find myself too, I guess. What is art to you? Art for me can be everything, is the way you see and follow your life, the biggest artists are people who truly lived their life through it, there is no in between, you have to let it kill you and express from it, it can sound very dramatic but it can be obsessive, when I used to have my atelier I was consumed by it, I didn’t want to leave, I could eat and sleep in front of my paintings, I had dreams about what I should create, was crazy, is like your loose the meaning of time, hours, days, nothing matters anymore but to take out what is inside of you. What does your art revolve around? My art sparkles joy, fashion, sensuality, love and femininity. It is a tribute to women and how we had evolved through history, through the men's vision, and how powerful we are today, because the world now revolves around women. Can we know a little about your new projects? “I would like to crate an apparel brand, that can extend on the years, as I mentioned above to have my talk show, many things can happen, I will update you accordingly.” Well, we’re not sure of being updated about her ongoing and upcoming projects, but this conversation has definitely refreshed our perspective in understanding how one can do it all indeed! - Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob
Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob By Anurag Sen Vivian Dsena: The Fluke Star Who Became Television’s Undying Heartthrob 25 September 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement The first thing Vivian Dsena tells you is that he never wanted to be an actor. “I am the biggest fluke television industry has ever received,” he laughs, recalling how it all started. A modeling career had placed him in front of cameras, but acting was never the plan. Fate, however, had its own script. One day, while accompanying a friend to an audition, he ended up reading lines himself. That audition landed in the hands of Balaji Telefilms , and before he knew it, he was cast as Vicky Valia. What began as a coincidence quickly became destiny, and the boy who never dreamt of acting became one of television’s most enduring names. Over the years, Vivian has carried many characters on his shoulders, each with its own light and shadow. But he is careful about what he takes home with him. “Even if I carry something from a character, it better be a good part,” he says. For him, every role is both a lesson and a mirror, sometimes teaching what to do, and sometimes what never to repeat. This conscious separation between reel and real has kept him both grounded and versatile. Grounded, in fact, is a word that defines Vivian. He guards his privacy fiercely, even as his fame continues to grow. For him, humility is a constant reminder. “No matter what you achieve, no matter what you become, you are still not even a dot compared to the universe,” he reflects. His journey and experiences have taught him not to take himself too seriously, a wisdom that allows him to move through the highs and lows of the entertainment industry with calm assurance. When asked about inspirations, Vivian doesn’t point to a single towering figure. Instead, his perspective is broad and inclusive. “Inspiration is all around,” he says simply. From the people he meets while traveling to the talents he observes across industries, Vivian believes that every encounter offers a spark. Perhaps that is why he remains adaptable, open to growth, and curious about the worlds beyond his own. Fans often wonder which role left the deepest mark on him. Vivian’s answer is thoughtful. For him, there isn’t just one. Every role, he says, carries something valuable. Some characters gift him qualities worth cherishing, while others act as cautionary tales. Either way, his career has been a classroom, each project another lesson in life and craft. Interestingly, if given a blank canvas to design his dream character, Vivian knows exactly what he would choose. “A vampire and a rock star,” he grins. The thought of him exploring such roles excites his imagination, hinting at an actor who is far from done experimenting. As for Bollywood or OTT? Fans have long speculated about his entry into films or web series. Vivian is honest in his response. “I never had a Bollywood dream,” he admits. Content with his television journey, he feels no pressure to chase a bigger screen. But he leaves the door slightly ajar with a teasing hint about OTT platforms: “Very soon.” If there is one driving force behind Vivian’s career, it is his fans. “It is only the fans,” he emphasizes. Their love, he says, doesn’t burden him with pressure; it motivates him to outdo himself each time. Every project, for him, is an offering to the people who have stood by him unwaveringly. “Whatever I am today is because of my fans,” he declares, certain that his next step will not disappoint them. With a twinkle of mischief, he adds that his fans already have an idea about what is coming next. For young dreamers aspiring to enter the chaotic, glittering world of entertainment, Vivian leaves them with one truth: never give up. The industry is unpredictable, success fleeting, but perseverance is the only way through. His own journey, born from a chance audition, is proof that destiny favors the persistent. From fluke to phenomenon, Vivian Dsena ’s story reads like the kind of script you don’t see coming. An actor who stumbled into the spotlight but stayed because of sheer talent, grit, and an army of fans who refuse to let him fade. In a world where stardom often feels manufactured, Vivian remains refreshingly real, reminding everyone that sometimes the best stories are the ones you never planned to tell.
