- In Conversation And More With Payal Ghosh
In Conversation And More With Payal Ghosh by Anushka Sharma In Conversation And More With Payal Ghosh 11 March 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement Accompanied with a vivacious personality and an appealing charm, Payal Ghosh is a class apart indeed. In a candid take on her life’s trajectory with us, we uncovered a lot that lies under the layers. Speaking of when she got her first break, she said, “I was just 17 when I got my first opportunity. I wasn't even out of college yet, I just went to accompany a friend to an audition and I got a movie Prayanam directed by a National Award winning director Mr. Yeleti. It was a fantastic experience.” Getting an opportunity at the age of 17 is definitely a God’s given bliss! Speaking of how she would describe her experience working in the South as well as Bollywood, she talks to us about how different the overall outlook is. She states, “They both are different. Down south they do a lot of pre-production work. This is not to say that Bollywood doesn't, but it's more abundant there. The shoots are also wrapped sooner down south. Bollywood is a different ballgame. The audience is wide and you are critiqued for everything that you do. As we unfurled a few topics on which one of her works is closest to her heart, she tells us that she cannot choose or pick a single project! “All of them. I can't differentiate between them. They are like my babies. I’ve worked so much that no work is big or less for me, I loved all my work and every artist should love every work of theirs.” Art is all about nourishing a metaphorical baby that feeds off your talent, after all! Speaking of her upcoming projects, she states, “One of them is Red which is completed with Krishna. It's a thriller. I have started working on "Shaque the doubt" which is also a thriller. The shooting commences in London soon. I’ve many more projects coming up to surprise the Audience and my fans.” When we asked Payal about this one piece of advice for the girls who are keen to join the industry, she tells us, “Be bold, be yourself and don't take the shortcut route. If you work hard enough for your dreams you'll surely make it. There is enough room for talent. Believe in yourself.” However, acting isn’t all that she’s known for. Payal has some slick sense of dressing as well. When asked about her fashion mantra, she tells us the key to knowing it all: Being yourself in whatever you wear, with confidence and happiness, only to never go wrong with it! As the conversation divulged into the topics of mental health, she has a rather interesting take on the entire subject. She states, “Do start with a goal for your mental health content. ... Do use credible sources. ... Do include the details on how to get in touch with professional help. ... Don't limit people's identities to their mental health.” Speaking of her views on body positivity, she tells us, “All body types are beautiful and deserve acceptance. Body positivity is guided by the understanding that feeling positive and accepting of appearance can improve mental health, reduce the risk of eating disorders, and allow someone to function at their best. Needless to say, this interview with Payal Ghosh was indeed a refreshing take on life, Bollywood and perspectives in general. - Adah Sharma, Sweetheart Since 1920
Adah Sharma, Sweetheart Since 1920 by Aparajita Jaiswal Adah Sharma, Sweetheart Since 1920 10 November 2021 Advertisement The first person that comes to our mind when we think of the words 'fun', 'spontaneous' and 'multifaceted talent' is Adah Sharma. We had the opportunity to sit down and chat with the outgoing and busy actor, who has many movies in various languages in her kitty. Adah exudes maior 'Girl-next door' energy in her latest interview with Aparajita Jaiswal as they discussed about completing a century in the industry, internet's sensation and beloved Radha Sharma, thoughts on fashion, OTT platforms and more. How and when exactly did you realize your passion for acting? What is the best part about being an actor? Throughout my schooling I truly enjoyed acting. I had taken part in theater and plays every now and then. I always wanted to experiment and try and be something else every other day. Whatever I was wanting to become, I was very serious about it. started practicing acrobatics because I wanted to join the circus, you won't believe me. I was so dedicated and serious about it. I graduated from a Kathak course because I wanted to become a dancer. When I wanted to become an actor, once again, I was very serious about it and if I put it quite plainly, all the skills I learnt along the way have come in handy in my acting career. I can only answer it based on my opinion, to me, it is absolutely the fact that I am allowed to be different people and personalities on-screen. Everybody adores the content you and Radha give us. What do you think of Radha's popularity Everyone adores Radha because she is the star-kid Radha Sharma. She is the first stuffed pillow to have her own Instagram. I am glad people are accepting and giving Radha the attention she deserves, however, it is not because of me. People admire her solely due to her talent and multiple expressions. (laughs) You have recently completed more than a decade since your entry in the industry. How has your experience been so far and how has the industry evolved so far? How would you describe your acting? I have actually completed a century in the industry! I have this hashtag that says #HundredYearsofAdahSharma because I started with the movie 1920 and we are currently in 2021.which makes it a hundred years. So it is safe to say I have been in the field longer than most veteran actors. I don't think I have aged for someone working since 1920 (laughs) it has to be the curious case of Adah. As for how I would describe my acting; I feel very fortunate to have bagged 1920 because I was able to prove that I can perform since our debut movie really makes a huge statement. Media and audience have been very kind and welcoming to me and so was my audience. I am very grateful for all the love and support people have given throughout these years, it really makes me feel very comfortable and more crazy I guess (haha). You have a very strong fashion game. Who would you consider as your style and fashion icon? For me, fashion is something that should be fun. When you start taking it too seriously it gets stressful and then there's no fun. Fashion is a part of my life and a part of me that I truly enjoy. If I am a part of a movie then I like sticking to the essence of the character based on how the character is written. On the other hand, I enjoy experimenting and trying out something | haven't done before in the case of fashion or magazine shoots. I also feel that what attracts my attention to someone else's style is when they have an inherent style of their own. One should be able to pick a style/hair style and make it their own, it would make it fun for themselves and make them look confident. I would say rather than strictly sticking to copying 'trends' one should have and play around with fashion. I would even say, don't be afraid of making mistakes, make mistakes in fashion because what might be a faux pas today might be in vogue tomorrow and vice versa. So you do you and have fun with fashion. Tell us about the toughest part of your work? And why do you think it is tough for you? The toughest part has to be, realizing that I am able to live my dream every single day. I enjoy every part of what I am doing, be it wearing amazing clothes or being a new character. Well, posing for selfies while savoring Bhel Puri….. life is tough! (haha, serious sarcasm intended). If anything you would be asked to change about your work, what would be that one thing? I consider myself at a very good phase in my career. I am being considered for really fun roles so right now I really do not wish to change anything. I am purely grateful for where I stand now. Now that OTT platforms are gaining traction among actors, what do you feel and do you see it as an opportunity to display your work? I have had an unremarkable OTT presence. I've previously been a part of a short-film Tinday, Moh which was released on OTT platforms. I played a bipolar character in Chuha Billi and a role in another OTT release entitled Holiday. I saw that my presence in Holiday drove more attention than most movies I have been a part of did. So, I make it a point to choose series, films or short stories that entertain, because when it is entertaining the medium of release doesn't matter because people would take efforts to watch it. So far as the content is good, people are hardly impacted by the medium. Whether they watch it on their phones or in multiplexes doesn't matter as long as they are enjoying the content. Once again, since I am very experimental and fun with work I want to try it all. Why does your Instagram Bio say "Actor/crow/Cow"? Yes, because when no one is watching I can turn into them. PS: but only when no one is watching. You made your singing debut in Tamil. How did you prepare yourself for singing, that too in an unfamiliar language? I have taken Piano and Carnatic music classes since a very young age So singing came pretty much easily and naturally. Though I enjoy singing and dancing. I really believe that acting is my first love. I would like to dance and sing as well. but WITH the acting. You have worked in different regional industries as well. How has that experience been? How different is it from working in mainstream Bollywood? If there's anything the pandemic has taught us, it is that if the content is good, everybody is going to watch it irrespective of the language and medium. From my experience. realized that it lies in the vision of the director as well. I have made a mark in the South Indian industry. My movies are also dubbed in Malayalam. I've been a part of Punjabi music videos. I see myself working in other regional movies as well. I am a part of an international action film which I am quite excited about. I am excited to try out all Indian languages and I would give foreign languages a chance as well. How do you prepare yourself for a role? What attracts you to a role now? It depends from role to role. Each role has its individual preparation needed. For instance, for my role in Commando, I was expected to speak Hindi with a Telugu tone to it, so I had an accent coach train me and for action movies I train accordingly. As for my South Indian movies, I like to read and reread and go well prepared to set since it is an unknown language. I like to read for my roles beforehand and go to set well prepared. It can be really stressful to receive lines on set. What attracts me to a role is something I haven't done before. What is next for you? Anything you can talk about? Any new movies in the talks? I have finished two Telugu films, one of which is a Girl action movie and the other movie is a sweet love story directed by Telugu actor Nani's sister Deepthi. It is produced by Nani as well. There is Commando 4 where I reprise my role as Bhavna Reddy once again. She is funnier and there's more action. I will also be seen in 'Aisa Waisa Pyaar' where I play the role opposite a dog named Happy. It is a lovestory between a dog and a cynical bitch. I really enjoyed playing it. There is Holiday 2 too. slated for release. There are few more in the works, but I am keeping fingers crossed for everything to work out. If you see yourself working with a celebrity, who would it be? I do not hold dreams because if I do that and it isn't fulfilled then I am bound to be re-born similar to Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om and become an actor once again and fulfill it in that incarnation. I just hope amazing filmmakers wake-up someday and say I wish Adah would sign our films. That's my dream! You recently played the role of a transgender person in "Pati, Patni aur Panga'. How challenging was it to you and what measures did you take to prepare for the role? 'Pati ,Patni aur Panga' is a very sweet love story and I hold it very dear to me. I was attracted to the role and the film because as human beings we tend to jump into conclusions and to make hasty judgements without knowing the entire story. So, it is a film that taught us not to be judgmental, which is a very earnest thought. Could we ever get a chance to see you working in Hollywood? Does that interest you? Like I mentioned earlier, one may never know. I am open with my options and wish to try and pursue acting in different roles and in different languages as long as the role, core, content and message of the film/series/short film are meaningful and something I haven't tried before. “JUST HOPE AMAZING FILMMAKERS WAKE-UP SOMEDAY AND SAY I WISH ADAH WOULD SIGN OUR FILMS. THAT'S MY DREAM!” SEARCH Actor Kangna Sharma gives a sneak peek into the movie of her life COVER STORIES Finding Power In Individuality: In Conversation With The Stunning Alina Rai COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Neon Nights And Yellow Lights: The Sonic World Of Natania Lalwani 30 April 2025 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement
- If you can dream it, you can achieve it – In conversation with Donal Bisht
If you can dream it, you can achieve it – In conversation with Donal Bisht by Aadhya Venkatesh If you can dream it, you can achieve it – In conversation with Donal Bisht 21 August 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement As a big believer in dreaming big and working hard to achieve your dreams, Donal Bisht was a Journalist and Anchor who pursued her dream of acting and modelling. In college, her seniors pursuing film studies always called her to work in their short films and music videos. Despite being pushed towards being an actor, Donal believed she wanted to pursue the media industry and work as a journalist. She even established herself in the field with a four-year-long career but eventually realised that "the work did not make my heart happy and did not satisfy me". It was then that she dropped everything and came to Mumbai to pursue her passion for acting. "I really believe in destiny". She has been in the show business for five years and has only been climbing the ladder of success. Having started with TV shows, Donal did four years of back-to-back TV with shows like Ek Deewana Tha and Roop . She then realised that to achieve creative satisfaction, she had to do something different. "I did a South bilingual film in Kannada and Telugu. The shift, I would say creatively, is great when you do different things", she said. She never knew Telugu and didn't have any exposure to the language. But after multiple workshops and extra efforts on sets, she managed to get well versed in the dialogues and expressions. "I used to keep the first AD with me to do the lines thoroughly, in and out". She broke through the language barrier and had her proud moment when people asked her if she was a natural Telugu speaker. Now that her film is in the post-production stage, Donal is excited to see herself in the role. Once her film was on the verge of completion, she entered the Big Boss house and became one of the most respected contestants in her two weeks there. "People come to me and say they want to become like me and love my personality". Having done four back to back soap shows, she now wants to venture into the world of web shows, which she is doing through her MX player original Show, Zakhm. Zakhm is a "romantic thriller show where I play Kavya, a healer who heals people's wounds". She is excited about the release of the show. Donal is also a TEDx speaker and always urges her fans to dream. "Dreaming is very important. If you can dream, you can achieve". She says that once a person has an unrelenting dream that they strive to achieve, persistence will take them forward on their journey. Those who dream can achieve whatever they aspire to. The one mantra she follows in life is to leave no stone unturned. She believes that persistence is critical and that a person should never stop. "First try to fly. If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl, but you do the best". Running and Weight Lifting are her preferred modes of workout. She runs on the treadmill for 20 minutes a day and believes that fitness is what you eat, and one must take care of what suits them and what doesn't. Along with exercise, she also recommends her audiences watch their food intake and monitor what they eat because, more often than not, it is a particular fruit, vegetable, or seafood that causes allergies and bloating. "Observe your body and the way it reacts to food". Donal's favourite travel destination is her family home in Delhi, where she goes for all significant occasions. Other than that, one place she hopes to visit soon is Paris, which is her second favourite place. #donalbisht #coverstory #interview #fashion #actress SEARCH Actor Kangna Sharma gives a sneak peek into the movie of her life COVER STORIES Finding Power In Individuality: In Conversation With The Stunning Alina Rai COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Neon Nights And Yellow Lights: The Sonic World Of Natania Lalwani 30 April 2025 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement
- Single parenthood and family
SOCIETY by Akash Khatri Single parenthood and family 1 December 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Slowly generalising concept yet feels like a terror to me . I’m not writing it hypothetically rather have seen this. Families emerged from single Parenthood on a positive aspect know struggle and manage to include themselves in the hardy layer of the society whereas on a negative aspect they can just be as jeopardized as possible. Single parenthood if not self chosen could be a disaster for the parent itself ,juggling between kids, work, household and what not as if you’ve to do single handed plank when your core isn’t used to it. However, I fear for self chosen single parenting because the shrinkage from joint families to single parent families are somewhere responsible in the upbringing and personality development of a child as well. How are they supposed to learn actions oriented moral ethics and values if they are not getting various people to observe in their house. In a nutshell, the pursuit of single parenthood must be a big no ,no matter how much it’s covered or layered with positive attributes, it’s hard for both the child and the parent and we as humans don’t opt for harder things by nature, do we ? #family #singleparent #singleparenthood #society SEARCH Women Empowerment A mere concept or a real Concern SOCIETY Looking Through The Excellence Of ‘Jaali’ Architecture SOCIETY Why the Gender Pay Gap is Wide and Disturbing SOCIETY Festival of Stones SOCIETY The Pygmalion Effect SOCIETY POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Anushka Sharma Uniting Voices, Shaping Futures: Dive Into Mun 2.0 At NIT Patna 8 September 2024 SOCIETY By Anushka Sharma These Healthy Habits Can Lower Your Risk Of Depression 31 August 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak A Glance In The Kshitij’23: A Euphoric Escapade 26 January 2024 SOCIETY By Rini Pathak Mithibai Kshitij: Epitome Of Diverse Social Cause Empowerment 24 January 2024 SOCIETY RELATED POSTS
- Meet Ishmeet Kaur, The Winner of Mrs. India World 2024
Meet Ishmeet Kaur, The Winner of Mrs. India World 2024 By Sakshi Batra Meet Ishmeet Kaur, The Winner of Mrs. India World 2024 17 December 2024 FASHION Advertisement Journey of Ishmeet Kaur Ishmeet Kaur - Mrs. India World 2024, For me it was not only a journey of determination, passion and self-belief but also a heart full of gratitude. From a childhood rooted in love and support to challenging societal norms, my journey to becoming Mrs. India World goes beyond the crown. It’s a celebration of inner strength, resilience, and the belief that true beauty comes from within. “I’m not just taking away cherished memories with my sister queens, but also the title that has shaped my journey”. “These 7 days have been more than just an experience, they have been a journey of growth, friendship and empowerment, rather than a competition”. "The lessons learned, the bonds formed, and the unforgettable moments will forever remain with me, serving as a constant reminder of the strength and beauty we all hold within." Source of Inspiration When asked about my biggest source of support, “I credit my mother as my guiding light from being my constant support through thick and thin whenever I felt like giving up, she became my strength and reminded me to keep chasing my dreams until I achieve them”. With her unwavering support, I am who I am today. Her guidance helped me overcome every hurdle that came my way. The crown I wear is not merely a symbol of victory—it embodies my hard work, passion, and self-belief. I didn’t just chase my dreams, I lived them. On the other hand, I often see parents not supporting their child's career choices. To them, my advice is simple: “Never give up on your dreams”. Stay true to your passion and trust your journey. If you remain authentic to yourself and your aspirations, then sky’s the limit. "If you follow your heart with determination, success will undoubtedly find its way to you." The best part of my journey has been the unwavering support of not just my mother, but my entire family and my partner, who stood as my pillars of strength in achieving my dreams. Their only advice to me was simple yet profound: stay true to who you are, and always remain humble and grounded with your fellow contestants. “They mentioned that true beauty comes within and that should reflect through my actions”. The Changing Phase of Pageantry I believe that the world has been undergoing a shift, moving away from the traditional beliefs and stereotypical norms, the days are gone when beauty pageants were just about perfect figures and dazzling smiles but in today’s scenario women with different body shapes and sizes are respected and are being welcomed “Today, the pageants celebrate authenticity and individuality” and the focus has also expanded to inner beauty, confidence, intelligence & social awareness rather than just physical appearance. These days “pageants are embracing diversity in terms of ethnicities, backgrounds, age, sexuality and gender identity”. Pageants now place more emphasis on contestants' intelligence, social awareness and community involvement. Winners are often expected to be role models and advocates for social causes”. This shift reflects a broader, more inclusive vision of beauty. However, the path to success is never easy. “Indian women face many societal restrictions, making it hard to build a career, they must navigate countless obstacles and negotiate at every step to overcome the challenges in their path”. But by participating in Mrs. India World, I feel I have broken stereotypes and shown that no dream is impossible, regardless of marital status. Life Lessons Among the many rounds in the pageant, “My favourite was the personal interview round”. It was a truly special moment that I will cherish for a lifetime, as it gave me the opportunity to connect with each judge one-on-one. “Their humility and inspiring guidance left a lasting impression on me”. Power of confidence & Self-belief What sets me apart from others is not beauty with brains, it was my bolstering confidence, determination and self-belief that got me here and stood me out from everyone else. “I would suggest everyone to follow their heart and not give heat to negative perspectives”. I can't deny that there were moments when I wanted to take a break, do nothing, and just relax. But then I had a self-realisation “I was fortunate enough to be selected among so many talented and brilliant women”. It was a golden opportunity that I couldn’t afford to miss, especially with my dreams so close to being realised. This deep realisation pushed me to stay focused and true to my passion. “It reignited the fire in me to work hard and pursue my dreams with full dedication and honesty”. Favourite Cuisine Even the strict dieters have cravings and for me, it’s Chinese food. "If I had to choose a cheat meal, it would definitely be my favourite Chinese dishes - I just can’t resist them!" Celebrating Talent & Creativity I would be incredibly proud to judge the pageant, and if given the opportunity to create my own round, “I would choose a talent round where all participants could showcase their unique abilities”. Whether it’s singing, dancing, poetry, drama, or any other talent, this round would offer each contestant the chance to express their creativity and passion. “I believe it would provide them with an opportunity to truly shine in something they love, creating a beautiful, personal, and inspiring experience." Redefining Success Ishmeet’s journey is a powerful reminder that success is not just about achievements, but about breaking barriers and staying true to oneself. "Dreams take effort, and sometimes they need a push," but the beauty of the journey lies in overcoming challenges and letting your inner light shine. Her story teaches us that beauty is not just about appearances; it’s about strength, resilience, and the courage to dream big. Ishmeet is living proof that with determination and belief, no dream is ever too far out of reach. Picture Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost – Alankrita Anup Sahai’s Journey by Aparajita Jaiswal Picture Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost – Alankrita Anup Sahai’s Journey 25 January 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement The first Indian to win 7 titles at the Miss Earth pageant held in the Philippines, Alankrita Anup Sahai, gets candid with us and gives us a glimpse of her life journey. We asked her about the responsibilities which surely came along with the 7 titles of Miss Earth to which she said, “ Yes it did come with a lot of responsibility and hard work. Well, diamonds are made under pressure so, I somehow worked well with it and didn’t succumb to the pressure. I had to represent my country, which in itself is the biggest dream that came true and which surely filled me with a lot of pride. A lot of eyes were on me at that time. The pressure was undeniably a lot but I enjoyed every bit of it and turned any dark and dull moment into a humorous one. Presence of mind and being able to have fun, played a very important role in winning the same.” She tells us that acting was never a goal or a dream. However, in school days dancing and dramatics were her best friends and she was always participating in all the cultural activities. Inherently, all of it was a part of her but what she really wanted to become was an IAS officer but the universe had other plans and conspired for her. We asked her about her involvement in all the social work she does and how it personally affected her to which she said, “It has made me and my spectrum of understanding human psychology grow. It’s helped me serve the people who in return made my heart kinder and made me more aware that I should be grateful for what I have. They have taught me never to give up on hope and always strive to help or make someone smile even if takes an ocean or just a drop. Everyone should know that they really matter. I am an empath so I can feel things even more intensely now.” “Joyful, eventful, beautiful, hurtful and extremely delightful” – are the words she describes her journey with. The journey encapsulated a variety of experiences that made her what she is today. She says, “ The city of Mumbai took me in its arms and embraced me. She never let me go and never gave up on me. She gave me wings and I flew and built a life, a name that I would continue to work towards. I will enjoy this journey of a lifetime.” Looking back at her journey, she feels immense gratitude and hopes to be a better version of herself everyday. “My journey has been blissfully easy and difficult yet smooth, filled with joy and tears. An Amalgamation of emotions ! Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.” For the obvious delight of her fans we asked her about her upcoming projects and she told us that her two films, ‘Tippsy’ and ‘Dead girls don’t talk’ are slated to release next year. Her upcoming Amazon series, songs and projects are all there in the pipeline. We asked her to share her mantra with the young girls who aspire to be the pageant queens, to which she said, “ Be true to who you are. Be confident and wear your smile like it’s worth a billion dollars. Do not ever succumb to bullies or bully anyone either. You may be heavily influenced by the world outside and Instagram could make you conscious but the world that’s inside of you is far more beautiful. You have to be mentally, emotionally and spiritually aligned and strong to be in any industry and face the challenges the world will throw at you. The will to rise with grace is the most important part of this journey. Avoid being with people who gossip because great minds talk about visions not people. In the end, attract what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect and mirror what you admire. Life is a journey that has to have its own path but have a little fun along the way and don’t get extremely serious. Your mental health is the top goal, it’s your temple so don’t pollute it. I believe the recipe to finding yourself is to be able to be creative and co-exist with like minded people who see the good and bad in you and show you the light even when you don’t see it . In school we are taught a lesson and then given a test but in life we are given a test from which we learn our lessons . So I believe the only way forward in life is to keep evolving and being your authentic self.” For her story of competing in the Miss Earth, she says that her friends, family and colleagues had played a major role. They pushed her forward and inspired her to follow her calling. “ It was an accidental, universally conspired entry which resulted in the most monumental event of my life. This event is the most special thing for me as it changed my life forever.” “ Attract what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect and mirror what you admire.” SEARCH Actor Kangna Sharma gives a sneak peek into the movie of her life COVER STORIES Finding Power In Individuality: In Conversation With The Stunning Alina Rai COVER STORIES Madhura Naik talks about the Life of an Actress COVER STORIES Kavya Thapar And Her Versatile Acting Career That Cuts Across Regional Lines COVER STORIES Ahsaas Channa Talks About Her Mother Being The Inspiration Behind Her Career COVER STORIES POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape Neon Nights And Yellow Lights: The Sonic World Of Natania Lalwani 30 April 2025 COVER STORIES By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Shaped By Courage, Creativity, And Social Media With Aditi Sharma 19 October 2024 COVER STORIES By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES RELATED POSTS Advertisement

- Kaveri Priyam On Making Her Childhood Dream Come True
Kaveri Priyam On Making Her Childhood Dream Come True by Anushka Sharma Kaveri Priyam On Making Her Childhood Dream Come True 13 March 2023 COVER STORIES Advertisement In a candid interview, Kaveri Priyam tells us that she had absolutely no idea about how to start working in the industry! All she was clear about was getting herself enrolled in an acting institute and continuing her theatres. Afterwards, she came to know about the auditions happening in Aram nagar and without the knowledge of the do’s and don’ts, she simply started giving them! Slowly, she started learning the various things about the industry and as it was a long process, she had the opportunity of experiencing the ups and downs, the rights and wrongs and helping herself when needed which further helped her to sustain in the industry. Kaveri says that it’s all those initial years which are helping her to support herself till date. She tells us that her experience was very good apart from the times when casting directors asked for money or when they tell you that you are not the appropriate shape or size or colour for this industry. She said that for some time she even took these comments on herself and tried to work in accordance with them but eventually she realised what was good for her and what was not. Kaveri says, “Working in the industry has always been very fun. Touchwood, I have been very lucky because I got the opportunity to work with very lovely people who never made me feel that I was a newcomer in the beginning.” As a child, she always wanted to become an actor. She says she was a born drama queen and was always a part of extracurricular activities. She says she has been lucky to have a good support system; good teachers who were very proactive and her mom, who got her enrolled in various classes. Straight after school, cycling daily to her Kathak classes was extremely hectic but she really enjoyed the part where she used to be on the stage. She used to act, direct, write stories and enact them with friends which unknowingly turned out to be street plays and attract a lot of crowd on the spot. She says that as a child you would think that you are just doing all this for your playtime fun but gradually she realised that she really liked doing all of it by heart. That’s when she decided to become an actor. Despite having a studious family and mindset she realised she didn’t really enjoy it all, and acting was actually what she truly wanted to do. The day she got rejected from one of the exams was her turning point. Thus, she started giving auditions, doing theatres in Delhi and finally she got selected for a show and came to Mumbai. The show didn’t work out well but it brought her to the place where she belonged! Talking about her upcoming projects she tells us, “I am super excited for my upcoming show which is going to air on Sony Sab very soon. The name is ‘Dil diyan Gallan’ and as the name suggests, it’s Punjab based story. So I am looking forward to it, playing a new character, getting into someone else’s shoes. I am super excited for it and also for my new music video which is going to be released soon.” Kaveri speaks about what she loves the most about acting and she said, “I love the way it takes you to different places, makes you meet a lot of different people and the way it helps you grow as a person and an artist. When you work with amazing people from different walks of life, you get to know more about life in general, about different people who exist in the society and with each character you get to be in someone else’s shoes. I believe an actor is someone who can live a thousand lives, which is something really attractive and I literally live to do this. I live to live different characters, different lives, visit new places, locations and meet new people and work with amazing directors and producers. So yes, that is what I feel life is, it should be exciting every day.” We asked her where does she see herself in the next 5 years in this ever-changing entertainment industry and she answered, “I know that this industry is ever-changing and I think nothing is permanent and change is the essence of life so I do not fear change, all I expect from myself is that I adapt to the change, adjust and keep entertaining people. In the coming 5 years I see myself as someone who knows all the tricks and trades of my field and then maybe later I can decide on what sort of work I want to do in the industry. I want to progress, that’s for sure.” Apart from being the character, she thinks, to look like the character is a challenging job. If the character is plumpy, extremely thin or ranky, it is something which takes a toll on your health because there is a limited amount of time in which an actor has to look a certain way and if not followed under proper guidance, it might hamper your health. She says that it’s not particularly tough but extremely challenging, and especially for her as she is a big foodie. But, as of now she hasn’t got the chance to completely transform herself and she does look forward to doing such roles in the future. Kaveri speaks candidly about the pressure in her work and what she does to tackle it, to which she simply said that she, personally, never really had to deal with any such thing. “If you enjoy doing something and can feel that it is meant for you then, that’s it. There is pressure in every other sector and I think that it is a part of work and it should be taken lightly. There is this constant thought that should be there in your mind that you are getting to do what you always wanted to, and so, it is a blessing. There are certain schedules you have to adjust yourself in but that is the fun and challenging part of it which makes it exciting.” About her journey and the obstacles, she tells us that, “Wherever I went to take acting classes, I was always told that I am gifted, which I didn’t understand at that time, but, slowly I got to know that some things are actually there within me but they need to be polished. To convert the talent into skills, the theatres and acting classes helped a lot. Talking about the journey, initially it was tough as you are exploring new things but once you cross that phase, get a break, get appreciated, gain the confidence then things become a little easier. Although competition is there, you have to be determined, focused, keep working on your craft and that is how one succeeds in any field. It has not exactly been a roller coaster ride but, I had my own challenges which I overcame. One of the challenges was that I was overweight for this industry but I decided I wanted to look good on camera and I made that transformation for my first show, from being a very plumpy to a very thin and lean girl. I won't call it an obstacle, but just a part of the job.” For our readers who may not be as familiar with her line of work, she says, “ Be it any industry, there are all sorts of people so, telling someone that this or that industry is not good, is baseless. Meeting, approaching and having the right circle of people around you is very important to achieve anything in life because there has got to be someone who shows you the path and the right direction. Maybe you will find it on your own or someone from your near and dear ones will guide you, but that direction is very important otherwise you might just be all over the place.” Be it any industry, move forward, stay focused, go in the right direction and make sure you meet the right people. - Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive
Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive By Sakshi Batra Farhan Khan: Where Poetry Meets Hip-Hop, And Stories Come Alive 10 February 2025 COVER STORIES Advertisement “Main Toh Hoon Shayar, Bata Deta Baatein, Par Kambakht Woh Kaise Sambhalega” This isn’t just a line from Farhan Khan - it’s a glimpse into his soul. A poet who wears his heart on his sleeve, a rapper who turns life’s chaos into a rhythm, and an artist who tells stories with every verse, Farhan Khan isn’t your typical creative. He’s a force of nature, a whirlwind of emotions, ideas, and untamed passion. So, who is Farhan Khan? He’s not just a rapper, poet, or actor. He’s a storyteller who turns heartbreak into poetry, struggles into inspiration, and every experience into a masterpiece. This is the story of the man who refuses to be boxed in who lives to bring something extraordinary to the table every single time. A Life Beyond Boundaries Farhan's father, a ghazal writer and tailor, played a big role in shaping his journey. He also looks up to the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (Nusrat Sahab) for inspiration. While others tried to set limits for him, Farhan never believed in boundaries. For him, art is limitless, a space where he can explore anything, from love and spirituality to deep emotions, both good and bad. A Wall, A Dream, A Turning Point At the age of 16, Farhan made a declaration that changed everything. Scrawled on the wall of his room was a simple yet powerful promise: “I will come on TV & become an actor.” It wasn’t just graffiti; it was a vision. Farhan dove into the world of art and music, fuelled by his relentless desire to express himself. Though his family initially hesitated to support his unconventional dreams, they couldn’t ignore his passion. Farhan recalls his days working at his father’s tailoring shop, where he not only learned the value of hard work but also developed a business mindset that complements his artistic endeavours. The Birth Of “The Last Khan Sahab Show” Farhan’s debut album, “ The Last Khan Sahab Show” , is more than just music- it’s an entire world. Drawing inspiration from his father’s nickname, “Khan Sahab”, the album’s title pays homage to his roots and was appreciated by artists like Badshah and Raftaar . Farhan introduces the iconic Khan Sahab character as a one-time phenomenon, marking the end of its journey with a poignant farewell. Through the track “Rudali” , he performs the metaphorical last rites for the character, signalling the end of an era and paving the way for a fresh chapter with new stories and personas. The album then transitions to the song “Jannat”, where Farhan and a friend share a candid conversation about his love life, setting the stage for the unfolding tale of “Alif and Laila”. What truly sets this album apart is its immersive storytelling. Each song brings a character to life, every lyric unravels a narrative, and every beat pulls you deeper into Farhan’s creative universe. The Stories Behind The Songs Farhan’s albums don’t just feature tracks - they unfold like movies. One of his most intriguing storylines revolves around Alif & Laila, set against the backdrop of the 80s. Take the iconic Jawab de , a track that weaves a tale of heartbreak, longing, and redemption. Farhan’s alter-ego, Alif, questions his love, Laila, with raw, piercing words: “Woh Tujhe Chhoota Hai, Jaise Main Chhoota Tha Waise, Kya Uske Bhi Seene Pe Soti Ho, Zulfein Hatata Hai, Tere Chehre Se?” The album doesn’t just stop at heartbreak. It dives deeper into emotions, exploring betrayal, love, and self-reflection, followed by the most iconic “ Ajnabi.” “Ajnabi Sa Ye Ehsas Hai, Badnasibi Na Tu Sath Hai, Shah Ki Daulat Tu Hi Thi Sanam Ab, Bas Fakeeri Na Kuch Pas Hai” The narrative takes unexpected turns, from Alif’s heartfelt confessions to dramatic confrontations. In “Aankhon Ne Maara”, Laila realizes Alif’s love for her still burns strong, even as the world conspires against them. Farhan’s ability to create entire worlds within his music makes him stand apart in the industry. “For me, rap and poetry are ways to tell stories. They give me freedom and a unique perspective,” he explains. In Cigarette , Farhan masterfully uses the imagery of smoking as a metaphor for loneliness: “Ab toh bas hum dono hi hain, ek main aur ek meri cigarette.” This song, which took weeks to perfect, is Farhan’s personal favourite. It’s a hauntingly beautiful reminder of how art can turn pain into poetry. A Blend Of Old And New Farhan’s artistry is a kaleidoscope of influences. His father’s love for ghazals and the timeless magic of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan laid the foundation. Bollywood legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan ignited his love for cinema, while the directory of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Imtiaz Ali inspired him the most in his storytelling. But Farhan isn’t here to follow trends. “Doing what everyone else does would make me lose my essence,” he says. “I want to bring something new to the table every time.” Passion For Fashion Farhan has personally designed the outfits for his albums, drawing on his experience working in his father’s shop. With this background in tailoring and a keen eye for fashion, he has a natural flair for creating unique ensembles and dreams of designing outfits that reflect his artistic vision. This philosophy extends to his love for fashion. Farhan dreams of collaborating with brands like Raymond, Siyaram and Manyavar , bringing back the charm of kurta-pyjamas with a modern twist. His vision? To revive traditions and merge them with contemporary art forms. The Man Behind The Music Offstage, Farhan is a simple man with a love for good food and heartfelt cinema. His favourite dish? Nalli Nihari is famously known as the warrior’s food. But nothing beats his mother’s tomato gosht, a dish he cherishes deeply. Growing up, Farhan often skipped school to catch Bollywood movies at the nearest cinema. His favourite films, like Devdas and Black Mirror, reflect his love for grand storytelling. What’s Next? Farhan’s journey is far from over. He’s gearing up to expand the Alif Laila saga “I want each album to surprise people, to bring something they’ve never experienced before,” he says with excitement. With every project, Farhan Khan continues to blur the lines between music, poetry, and storytelling. His work is a celebration of art in all its forms, a testament to his belief that creativity knows no boundaries. The Legacy Of Farhan Khan Farhan Khan is not just an artist, he’s a phenomenon. From his heartfelt lyrics to his groundbreaking narratives, he’s redefining what it means to be creative in today’s world. As he continues to surprise us with his artistry, one thing is clear - Farhan Khan is here to leave an indelible mark, not just on the industry but on everyone who experiences his work. Because when Farhan speaks, writes, or raps, the world listens. And as he says, “Dilbar Ko Dur Nhi Karte, Dil Tod Kar Choor Nahi Karte, Sab Kehte Par Main Manta Nai, Tum Humko Bhool Nahi Sakte, Aise Majboor Nahi Karte” Indeed, the world may find it hard to handle the brilliance of Farhan Khan.
