  • I want a chance to play different kinds of roles: Ishita Dutta talks about her career, upcoming projects and being typecast in certain roles

I want a chance to play different kinds of roles: Ishita Dutta talks about her career, upcoming projects and being typecast in certain roles by Rupashree Ravi I want a chance to play different kinds of roles: Ishita Dutta talks about her career, upcoming projects and being typecast in certain roles 30 June 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Popular actress and model, Ishita Dutta is known for her versatile roles in both films and television shows. In an exclusive interview, the actress, who is currently shooting for Drishyam 2, spoke about her experience in the industry and the kind of roles she wants to explore. In this ever-changing industry where there is immense talent and competition, leaving a mark is often not easy. It needs a lot of hard work and dedication, along with luck, Dutta shared. “In any industry, leaving a mark when you are really good at your job is very hard. But in our industry, there’s also a little bit of luck factor which I feel exists at the right place and at the right time. Sometimes, you may be perfect for a certain role but somebody else might get it. I really do believe in destiny and luck, but that doesn’t take away the fact that you have to work hard, be very talented and do a great job to leave that mark. In the end, the audience needs to love you and your work,” she added. Dutta started her career in 2012, starring in the Telugu film Chanakyudu. The following year, she made her television debut in the Star Plus serial Ek Ghar Banaunga. Since then, she has gone on to star in many television serials, music videos and films. Talking about her experience so far as an actress, she said, “My experience in this industry has been fabulous. I, of course, want to do a lot more projects and there’s a lot to explore. Sometimes I feel I still haven’t gotten certain opportunities that I wish for in terms of roles or certain projects or working with certain people, but I believe that will happen in time. But I have had a very good experience with all the people I have worked with so far. They’ve been very nice and supportive. I have learnt and enjoyed a lot. I love everything about being an actor.” In 2015, Dutta made her Bollywood film debut with Drishyam, alongside Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran. The film was a big success and Dutta received positive reviews for her performance as Anju Salgaonkar, the daughter of Ajay Devgn’s character. “We have started filming for Drishyam 2 and I’m really excited about it. It’s happening after six years and I think people are going to enjoy it. The film is also more interesting than the first part, so I’m really looking forward to it. There’s another film that I’d be working on with my husband, Vatsal. We’re going to be back on screen after a really long time. Apart from these, there are a couple of projects lined up at the end of this year, which I’m excited about,” she said, while talking about her current and upcoming projects. Actresses usually have role models who inspire and influence their careers. They cite great actors as their inspirations. But for Dutta, inspiration is something that comes from anywhere, any platform and language. “I believe there is so much content available and you’re constantly watching so many films, characters, and actors who do such great jobs and you get inspired. There are many people, actors, and characters that have really inspired me and they make me want to do a better job every day,” she shared. When asked where she sees her acting career taking her, she said, “Honestly, I don’t think about where I’m going, where I’m headed, or what’s going to happen after a certain number of years. I look at what’s happening currently, take up good projects that come for me and make the best out of them. I try to live in the present so I’ll be happy wherever my acting career takes me. I will just follow what my destiny has in store for me.” Dutta shared that she is often typecast as a simple girl in films. She wishes to play different roles and characters. “To be very honest, I still feel I haven’t really played a character who is very different. I somehow tend to get very similar characters like the girl next door. I have not really done an outright negative role. I did play a cop in the action film, Blank. I had to do a lot of action in the film and my body language was very different, which I enjoyed. But I think most of my characters have been very positive and simple. This is what I really want to change as an actor. I want a chance to play different kinds of roles and do something that is different from what people normally presume me to be,” she added. The entertainment industry can be a hard place for actresses, who are often body shamed and trolled in social media. Women empowerment and body positivity is much needed in the industry. Dutta shared her views on feminism and said, “I totally support women empowerment and I am absolutely against people who body shame others. Body shaming has been happening for decades and its high time people be sensitive toward others. Let people make decisions about their own bodies. Everyone has a different body type. You can be of any shape and size. I believe people should simply focus on being healthy, eating right, and sleeping on time.” Further, she thanked her fans and viewers for all their love and support. She advised the younger generation not to get influenced by the glamour of social media. “Don’t let negativity and trolls get to you. Try to be grounded and stand up for other people,” she added. • SITTING = DANGER!

SITTING = DANGER! by Akash Khatri SITTING = DANGER! 1 October 2020 LIFESTYLE Advertisement We belong to the “Tech Age” where the magic happens at the tap of a finger. It has made our lives easier but it has led us to a sedentary lifestyle, everything good comes with a hidden bad. You’ll be sitting in a beautiful bubble of procrastination while others will rejoice the finishing prize of the race. “Sitting is the new smoking.” It’s an addiction which develops slowly and silently. While sitting down all day may seem harmless, you may be surprised by the negative impact it has on your health. Especially in the recent decades, the population has become increasingly sedentary, with many adults spending 70% or more of their waking hours sitting. Research suggests that only 21 per cent of adults are meeting the physical activity guidelines, while less than 5 per cent perform 30 minutes of physical activity per day. The American Academy of Pediatrics counsels parents to limit children’s screen time—television, DVDs, and video games—to no more than 2 hours per day. You never realize the presence of the “Sitting disease” unless you have foes disguised as family knocking on your front door. There is Mother Obesity, Father Cholesterol, Brother Stroke and Sister Diabetes; who will eventually tuck you to bed, in a cosy casket for eternity even before you realize. Research published in 2010 proves that there are several adverse effects such as: Low energy expenditure Slower metabolism Cardiovascular diseases Compromised posture Back and spine injuries Reduced social skills Loneliness or depression Metabolic Syndrome Chronic Pain ………. to name a few. Another study analyzed data collected over 15 years and found that sedentary lifestyles were associated with an increased risk of early death regardless of physical activity levels and mental health disorders. Stare at a donkey long enough and it also looks beautiful. Time flies fast but goes by faster while binge-watching three seasons straight of “Friends”, driving across the city, finger-licking the last pack of fiery Cheetos, typing the never-ending presentation your boss asked you, writing those thousand-page assignments, finishing the last bottle of Pinot Noir in the cellar, scrolling through posts of people turned bakers and artists or by simply staring at the whitewashed walls. It doesn’t matter if you sit but whether you get up or not. Fixing this might seem like gargantuan efforts at first but it’s all worth it at the end considering the welfare it gets along. Start with something simple initially. Walk to the grocery store instead of ordering it online, who knows you might meet a school mate along the way. Take the stairs instead of waiting for the stuck lift. Get on those running shoes and watch the beautiful sunrise, I promise it will be worth it. Start gardening – who wouldn’t want to wake up to a beautiful inflorescence. The American Heart Association considers general gardening to be in the category of moderate-intensity physical activity. Get up and walk around during television commercials. Invest in a standing desk at the workplace. Every drop makes an ocean. So go clean your messy rooms, organize your wardrobe, sweep those floors, put the clothes out to dry, hear the cuckoo sing, catch up on your Mom’s gossip, experiment in the kitchen and watch your family turn into food critics, make life long memories with your siblings, call those long-forgotten friends, read something new, learn the unknown, reorganize, experiment, invent – EXPLORE THE NEW “YOU”. #diabetes #stroke #obesity #workplace #walk #cholesterol #fixing #smoking #Sittingdisease #alarm SEARCH Countdown To History: Omega Unveils Paris 2024 Olympics Countdown Clock And Special Edition Timepiece LIFESTYLE Juggling Law And Fashion: The Inspirational Journey Of Riddhi Nahata, A Multifaceted Influencer LIFESTYLE Join Shruti Yogi On Her Enchanting Journey From Kumkum Bhagya To Wanderlust Saga LIFESTYLE Personal Growth And Relatability: Ishita Khanna's Key To Influencer Success LIFESTYLE 6 Disadvantages Of Being Pretty LIFESTYLE POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement By Shrinivas Kodape Fast Times In Pune: Tracksuits, Dreams And A Dash Of Madness At Sports Con 2025 29 April 2025 LIFESTYLE By Aarti Singh The Audi A6: A Legacy Born From Rebellion And Refined Through Innovation 1 March 2025 LIFESTYLE By Sakshi Batra Glam Extravaganza 2025: Pune And Mumbai’s Influencers Compete For The Ultimate Spotlight 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE By Anushka Uniyal Ice, Speed And Records: Porsche Taycan GTS Drifts Into History 27 February 2025 LIFESTYLE RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • From The Silver Screen To Human Rights Advocacy With Award Winning Actress Sheena Chohan

From The Silver Screen To Human Rights Advocacy With Award Winning Actress Sheena Chohan By Anushka Sharma From The Silver Screen To Human Rights Advocacy With Award Winning Actress Sheena Chohan 21 August 2024 COVER STORIES Advertisement L’utopia Magazine recently had the pleasure of speaking with the multi-talented Sheena, who has carved a niche for herself in both the Indian and international film industries. With a Cannes accolade, numerous awards, and an inspiring role as the ambassador for United for Human Rights , Sheena’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. In this conversation, she opens up about her experiences, her upcoming projects, and her passion for human rights. How has the journey been for you lately, Sheena? Sheena:It's been incredibly exciting! Recently, I won three awards for my film Amar Prem, which premiered at Cannes and has already garnered about 15 awards. It’s a beautiful short film, an emotional drama about a love triangle, reminiscent of classic stories like Silsila. My role as a devoted wife who discovers her husband’s illness was deeply challenging yet rewarding, and receiving recognition for it has been a dream come true. Your film’s success at Cannes is incredible! How was your experience at the festival? Sheena: Having my film premiere at the main tent at Cannes was surreal. But this year has been non-stop for me. I recently completed my Hollywood debut in a film called Nomad, directed by Taron Lexton, who's now working on a major project with Tom Cruise. Creating characters with such a talented team was a pure collaboration that pushed me to explore my craft in new ways. The international exposure has been amazing, and I’m eager to continue working with passionate directors and storytellers. How does working in Hollywood compare to Bollywood? Are there significant differences? Sheena: The working styles are different, yes. Hollywood tends to be more organized and professional, while Bollywood, though also organized, has its unique, more spontaneous energy. However, the dedication to making impactful cinema is the same in both industries. I believe the lines between Hollywood and Bollywood are blurring, especially with the rise of OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon, which are bringing diverse stories to global audiences. Speaking of OTT platforms, what do you think the future holds for the industry? Sheena: I’m not a trade analyst, so I can’t predict the future, but I’m excited about the opportunities OTT platforms are creating. This year, I’ll be seen in a web series called Bhayava, where I play a she-devil, a role inspired by characters like Maleficent. OTT has opened up space for strong female leads and character-driven stories, which is fantastic for actors like me who crave diverse roles. You’ve also made significant strides as a UN Human Rights Ambassador. Can you share a bit about that journey? Sheena: Absolutely! I’ve been an ambassador for the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights for nearly a decade now. This year, I was honored with the Presidential Award in America, signed by President Biden, for reaching 170 million people with human rights education. My ultimate goal is to make human rights education mandatory in schools across India, as I believe it’s crucial for creating a positive change in society. It’s a cause that I’m deeply passionate about, and I’m committed to using my platform to further this mission. That’s truly inspiring. On the film front, what can we look forward to from you next? Sheena: I am thrilled about my Bollywood debut in Sant Tukaram, a historic biopic directed by Aditya Om, where I play a powerful lead role. It’s a dream project for me, given the depth and intensity of the character. I’ve always dreamed of being an actor since I was two years old, and now, I’m living that dream. You’ve had an impressive journey, training in theater and working across different film industries. What advice would you give to aspiring actors? Sheena:My advice would be simple: Don’t give up. This industry is full of setbacks, rejections, and challenges, but perseverance is key. Also, be professional and committed to your craft. Dedication and commitment can take you a long way, and you never know when your big break might come. Are there any directors you’re particularly eager to work with in the future? Sheena: I admire the work of directors like Anubhav Sinha, Raju Hirani, Shekhar Kapur, and Rajamouli. Each brings something unique to the table, whether it’s drama, comedy, or epic cinema. I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible filmmakers so far, and I look forward to collaborating with more in the future. You’ve worked in both Bollywood and the South Indian film industry. How do the two compare? Sheena: The Southern film industry is more personalized, with a strong emphasis on relationships and a family-like atmosphere on set. Bollywood, on the other hand, operates more like a corporate entity with agencies and PR's involved. But, as I mentioned earlier, the industry is evolving, and there’s a lot of crossover happening now between Bollywood and South Indian cinema. Finally, what kind of stories do you gravitate towards, and what excites you most about your work? Sheena: I love stories that are character-driven, whether it’s drama, comedy, or epic biopics. One of my all-time favorite films is Avatar by James Cameron. I’m particularly drawn to roles that allow me to explore different facets of human emotions and tell relatable stories that resonate with audiences. Through the conversation, it was evident that Sheena is not just an actor but a passionate advocate for human rights, a dreamer who has turned her childhood aspirations into reality, and an artist who continues to seek out meaningful stories to tell. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many, and we eagerly anticipate the next chapter in her remarkable career. • Most Colorful Cities In The World - why you should visit them?

by Priti Sharma by Priti Sharma Most Colorful Cities In The World - why you should visit them? 16 February 2023 TRAVEL Advertisement Advertisement Color makes life better, and travelers may discover the world's most colorful locations while traveling. The world's most vibrant sites may be found in busy metropolises and unspoiled natural settings. International cities greet tourists with a dash of color, creating fantastic picture opportunities and vistas, from unique mural artwork to the brilliant colors of skyscrapers. What attributes make a city beautiful? It relies on a number of variables, including the environment, architectural style, cleanliness, tranquility, and population. Additionally essential to a city's remarkable beauty are the colors. The eight cities with the most color in the world are listed below. 1. Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada: The oldest incorporated city in Canada dates back to 1785 and is located in the province of New Brunswick. Saint John City is well known for its downtown row houses that are painted in vibrant colors. It is one of the city's most well-liked tourist destinations. Jellybean Row refers to the row of colorful homes in Saint John's downtown. According to legend, residents of Saint John's used to paint their homes in vivid hues to maintain their attractiveness even during foggy conditions. Every house on the street is painted a different color, as you can see. Your trip on the city's walking tour will undoubtedly be one you never forget. 2. Chefchaouen, Morocco: Due to its isolation, the Blue City of Morocco has been cut off from the outside world for over a millennium. But why is it that color? Depending on who you ask, there are several explanations for why the Moroccan town of Chefchaouen is blue. Some claim that it is because of Jewish mysticism, while others assert that the blue tones are a naturally occurring mosquito repellant since they are found in the hills where the town was established. Chefchaouen is one of the world's most colorful towns, regardless of why it is blue. 3. Bo-Kaap, Cape Town, South Africa: Bo-Kaap in Cape Town has a vivid past. The Dutch brought many slaves to Cape Town throughout the 16th and 17th centuries from Malaysia, Indonesia, and various African nations. The enslaved were referred to as "Cape Malays." Several homes were constructed in this region in about 1760 and leased to the slaves. Later, the former slaves acquired the homes and painted them in vivid hues to symbolize their joy and liberation. Cape Town's Bo-Kaap neighborhood is situated at the base of Signal Hill and is rich in history and color. This residential neighborhood is well known for its vividly colored homes and winding pathways made of cobblestones. These residences showcase a fusion of Georgian and Dutch architectural designs. 4. Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India: The second-largest city in Rajasthan, India, is Jodhpur, popularly referred to as "The Blue City." The vibrant blue-washed homes in the old town are the source of the city's name. India was decades ahead of Morocco from one blue town to the next, despite the fact that Jodhpur's blue colors had a less than happy history. Electric blue buildings were historically designated for the "higher classes" and were originally painted as a part of the caste system. The custom, however, gradually spread across the town, turning the ruins of the cobalt buildings into a genuine tourist destination as well as a useful remedy for the oppressive heat. 5. Willemstad, Curacao The capital city of Curacao, Willemstad, is renowned for being a city with a rich cultural legacy. Rich in history, both public and private structures exhibit vibrant and often very beautiful architecture. In fact, the city is home to 750 vibrant structures in all. Historic structures may be found throughout Willemstad, many of which are notable for their use of Dutch architectural design. These beautiful, colorful structures, which date to the 17th century, draw hundreds of visitors each year. 6. Burano, Venice, Italy: Burano's multicoloured mansions have an intriguing truth. In the past, Burano's primary source of revenue was fishing. The fisherman had trouble identifying their cottages throughout the winter due to the dense fog. So they made the decision to paint their homes a variety of hues. The coloring custom in Burano is thought to have begun as a result of this occurrence. Today, you can notice that Burano's houses have a specific color scheme. In Burano, there is a clearly laid out procedure for painting homes. Let's say you live in the village and enjoy painting your house. Sending the government a formal request should be your first step. They will notify you which color you are permitted to paint your home. Interesting right? 7. Busan, South Korea The Gamcheon cultural hamlet is the main reason to place Busan at the top of your bucket list for Korea, despite the fact that it nearly often takes a back seat to Seoul. One of the most "Instagrammable" locations on the Korean peninsula, and maybe the whole globe, is a hillside covered in vibrant dwellings that people frequently compare to stacked legos. If this is on your trip wish list, you must visit it. 8. Santorini, Greece: Two colors are likely to spring to mind when you think of the Greek island of Santorini: white, which is the color of many buildings' walls, and blue, which also serves as the color of the island's dazzling Ionian Sea and many of its roofs. By Sakshi Batra By Sakshi Batra The Power Of Passion – Ria Amin's Rise To Fame 15 February 2025 BEAUTY Advertisement Advertisement Winning Million Of Hearts Ria Amin ’s journey from a college student with a passion for makeup to a beauty influencer with over 1 million followers is a tale of passion, persistence, and purpose. Known for her engaging beauty tutorials, skincare tips, and authentic voice, Ria has taken the digital beauty world by storm. But what sets her apart? Her journey, from humble beginnings in Mumbai to manifesting a flourishing brand, is as inspiring as it is empowering. The Spark: Discovering A Love For Beauty And Content Creation Ria’s journey began at home. In her second year of college, just before the lockdown, she took a chance and stepped into the world of content creation. Her first video, “7 Types of Eyeliners, followed by DIY Ghar ke Nuskhe (home remedies),” was a creative way to share her love for makeup hacks. Little did she know this small step would lead to a viral journey. She started her content career on TikTok, focusing on makeup hacks, foundation techniques, and concealer tricks. Ria soon realized that makeup wasn’t just a pastime for her, it was a calling. The Power Of Family Support Like many influencers, Ria faced challenges when it came to gaining support from her family. Her parents were initially sceptical about her online endeavours. They didn’t understand how content creation could evolve into a career. However, Ria’s dedication spoke volumes. She proved them wrong through hard work, creativity, and an unwavering commitment. Now, her parents are her biggest cheerleaders, and they are proud of her success in the beauty world. The Turning Point: Making A Bold Move For Success Ria’s success didn’t happen overnight. • A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati

A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati By Anushka Sharma A Journey Of Transformation, Empathy, And Unwavering Passion With Jitin Gulati 11 October 2024 COVER STORIES Advertisement We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Jitin Gulati , a dynamic actor who has been making waves with his unique roles and remarkable journey in the entertainment industry. Reflecting on his career, Jitin shares that his evolution as an actor has been as much about personal growth as it has been about his diverse roles. “In one word, if I had to sum up my journey, it would be ‘enriching.’ The characters I've portrayed have taught me not only about the craft but also about myself as a person,” he shares, offering a glimpse into his reflective approach to his work. Jitin emphasizes that, for him, the genre of a project is secondary. What truly excites him is the complexity and depth of the roles he takes on. “I am more drawn to characters that are far removed from my own life. It’s an opportunity to explore new worlds and bring these unfamiliar personas to life with empathy.” He credits the directors and creative teams he works with for making this experience even more profound. One of Jitin’s latest projects, “Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper”, available on Netflix, touches on important societal themes. “While the show is wrapped in a comedic tone, it subtly discusses issues like gender, masculinity, and how professions that are often misunderstood or stigmatized deserve the same respect as any other.” Jitin was particularly drawn to the lack of judgment in the script and was excited to work on a role that presented such important conversations in a lighthearted setting. When asked about his most cherished projects, Jitin couldn’t pick just one. He recalls the camaraderie developed over five years while working on “Bombay Meri Jaan”,particularly as the project spanned several COVID lockdowns. Another significant milestone in his career was playing a transgender character in “Kala”, a role that opened up an entirely new world for him. “From makeup to costume fittings, it was an immersive experience—both nerve-wracking and incredibly rewarding.” Despite his passion for acting, Jitin cherishes his time off with family. As an actor constantly on the move, he values the time spent reconnecting with his roots and his family in Faridabad. “It’s my way to recharge, and it grounds me,” he reflects. As for future plans, Jitin’s focus remains clear: he aims to keep learning and growing. He’s excited about his upcoming projects, including a supernatural horror film and a period fantasy drama. He also shared an inspiring facet of his life: before pursuing acting full-time, Jitin worked for nearly nine years in banking. “It was a big leap, but I’ve always known my dream was to act. Sometimes, you just have to take that chance,” he adds. In closing, Jitin revealed his admiration for industry legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, both of whom he’s had the honor of working with. “People often say you shouldn’t meet your heroes, but in this case, you absolutely should. They are as remarkable in person as they are on screen.” This candid conversation with Jitin provided a deeper look into the man behind the roles—a thoughtful actor continually evolving in his craft and inspiring others with his journey.
