  • Breakfast – Don’t Miss

By Akash Khatri Breakfast – Don’t Miss 15 June 2025 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement My most favourite meal of the day – BREAKFAST! The first thing out of bed. The fun part: it can include anything, be it fresh orange juice, hot waffles, drooly pancakes with maple syrup, a bowl of cereal with fresh milk, oats garnished with pretty dry fruit, tasty French toast, a warm croissant, crispy bacon, PopTarts, fruits, berries, a slice of perfectly toasted bread, eggs in any form and not forgetting freshly brewed coffee. It sets the mood good for a day. People often skip breakfast in a rush to reach in time, to spend some more time in bed, because they are too tired to bother, they don’t feel hungry, they are bored of the same breakfast every day, or some other excuse, but it’s wrong. It is called the “most important meal of the day” for a reason. Research links eating breakfast to good health. It helps you kick start your metabolism as it is the first meal after you wake up thereby also helping you to burn calories throughout the day. It provides you with the fuel required to get you going through the day and avoids you to binge eat as it controls your appetite. Science has proved that a good breakfast is directly proportional to a better memory. This ‘first meal’ also lowers bad cholesterol levels in our body and prevents a number of other diseases such as diabetes, obesity, etc. A US study that analyzed the health data of 50,000 people over seven years, concluded that those who made breakfast the largest meal of the day had a lower body mass index (BMI) than those who ate a large lunch or dinner. Moreover, it breaks the overnight fasting cycle by replenishing the body with glucose. A healthy breakfast also contains all nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre which are very important for our body. Running late? Don’t worry, we’ll help: Prepare a week’s breakfast over the weekend or the night before such as overnight oats, fruit jars or healthy muffins. A pre-prepared breakfast saves you ample of time in the morning and can be picked up on the way to your destination. Try setting your alarm 10-15 minutes prior to your usual time so that you don’t skip breakfast. Figure out what you want to eat for breakfast the night before and set out dry ingredients or pans and bowls you would require so that you save time in the morning. Stock your cupboard with go-to breakfast foods like protein bars, low sugar cereals, smoothies, etc. Keep some breakfast foods in your car or workplace or handbag. According to nutritionists, one should eat breakfast within two hours of waking and it should be in the range of 25-35% of your guideline daily allowance, also known as GDA. A few quick breakfast ideas: Ø Avocado toast with eggs Top a slice of brown or multigrain bread with smashed avocado and a sunny-side-up/fried/baked egg or two sprinkled with some salt and pepper for taste. Ø Pancakes It can be finished with a handful of berries, chopped bananas, spread of peanut butter or chocolate spread or the old maple syrup. Ø The fruit toast My personal favourite, it’s super easy to make. Add your favourite nut butter with some chopped bananas on a toast with a garnish of chia seeds. Ø Fruit bowl The quickest to make. Precut fruits to make it even quicker, mix seasonal fruits together. The fun part- you can just add anything you like. I like to add some quinoa, honey and lemon too. Delicious! Ø Scrambled Mess Break a few eggs in a pan coated with a spray of oil. Add in your favourite veggies to add some colour like onions, chillies and bell peppers. I like to flavour it with some rosemary, thyme and basil leaves. You can also stick to the simpler version by just adding salt and pepper. Ø The overnight overload Take a jar and mix oats, chia seeds, berries of your choice, a dash of vanilla, almond or coconut milk and maple syrup. Refrigerate overnight. You can have it cold or warm it in the microwave for a minute. Add a banana and top it with some dry fruits. Ø Classic Quinoa Cook Quinoa with any kind of milk. Add sugar, cinnamon and cardamom for taste. This dish is high in protein. Ø Peanut butter oat cookies I like to add some semi-sweet chocolate chips for taste. Ø Banana Zucchini muffins I like to substitute all-purpose flour with wheat and butter with coconut oil to make it healthier. Ø Warm waffles Top it with a spoon of chocolate, peanut butter jelly, simply butter or fruits and maple syrup. Ø Simply Smoothies You can never go wrong with them; they are highly fulfilling and filled with proteins. Banana Dates Smoothie Strawberry Mango Smoothie Blueberry Yoghurt Smoothie Strawberry Spinach Smoothie Chocolate Oatmeal Smoothie Watermelon Mint Smoothie Pumpkin Carrot Smoothie Orange Smoothie Raspberry Peach Chia seeds Smoothie Beetroot Apple Smoothie Banana Honey Oatmeal Smoothie You can make endless more combinations, it just gets healthier. The Shoe Faktory Success Story: Ishpreet Singh Gujral’s Bold Business Leap By Sakshi Batra The Shoe Faktory Success Story: Ishpreet Singh Gujral’s Bold Business Leap 27 March 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement A Twist Of Fate: From Civil Services To Sneaker Culture What happens when a civil service aspirant with dreams of serving the nation takes a sharp turn towards entrepreneurship? You get the fascinating story of Ishpreet Singh. Hailing from a business-oriented family known for their automobile import-export enterprise, Ishpreet’s journey was expected to follow tradition. But driven by curiosity and the desire to create something of his own, he ventured into the world of sneakers and built a brand that is now synonymous with quality and authenticity. His story is one of perseverance, innovation, and passion. The Road Less Taken: From Prelims To Premium Sneakers After completing his MBA from Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai , Ishpreet Singh once aspired to build a career in civil services. For two years, he rigorously prepared in Delhi and even qualified for the prelims. However, failing to progress to the next rounds left him disheartened, especially as he saw his peers successfully securing positions and jobs. The pressure to do something worthwhile was immense. His father, a businessman, suggested he join the family’s automobile business. But Ishpreet’s heart was elsewhere. With determination to create his own path, he explored different avenues. What started as an interest in watches soon evolved into something much bigger, thanks to one fateful internet search that introduced him to the fascinating world of sneaker culture. The Birth Of A Brand: The Shoe Faktory’s Humble Beginnings Realizing the immense potential of sneakers in the market, Ishpreet began researching sneaker trends from the US. He quickly recognized a gap in the Indian market and decided to capitalize on it by importing sneakers and reselling them according to market demand. As he expanded his network, he gained a deep understanding of order shipments and logistics. Thus, in 2016, The Shoe Faktory was born. From fulfilling his first single order to managing hundreds at once, Ishpreet’s journey was nothing short of phenomenal. His family, although cautious, stood by him. His father set a challenge: if Ishpreet could earn a specified amount through his business, he would have the family’s complete support. With sheer dedication, Ishpreet not only met but surpassed those expectations. What’s In A Name? Story Behind The Shoe Faktory Interestingly, the name ‘The Shoe Faktory’ was conceived casually between Ishpreet and his younger brother. Despite being irrelevant to their actual business model, the name grew popular, especially as celebrities started endorsing their brand. By the time they considered changing it, The Shoe Faktory had already become a recognized name with a solid reputation in the market. Battling The Odds: Challenges Along The Way Every success story has its hurdles, and Ishpreet’s journey was no different. One of the biggest challenges he faced was shortly one month before his marriage when a shipment containing lakhs worth of products got stuck at customs. The situation was worsened by heavy rains, and his repeated attempts to resolve the issue initially yielded no results. However, with divine grace and valuable family connections, the problem was eventually sorted out. The Shoe Faktory Edge: What Makes Them Stand Out “The Shoefaktory isn’t just about selling sneakers, it’s about providing a premium experience”. Ishpreet emphasizes quality and customer trust above everything else. Unlike many other sellers who rely on third-party importers, he imports directly, which makes the product more cost-effective, saving them from haywire third-party agents commissions. He acknowledges that while competitors exist, many of them resort to selling replicas or “first copies.” Ishpreet is staunchly against promoting such practices, believing they diminish the value of authentic products. For discerning customers, he shares helpful pointers to differentiate originals from counterfeits, focusing on weight, stitching, insole, shoe box, and overall condition. The Big Break: The Shoe Faktory’s Bollywood Connection The moment Ishpreet truly felt he had “ made it ” was when dancer and producer Remo D'Souza approached him to become the official shoe partner for the movie Street Dancer 3D . Seeing “The Shoefaktory’s name on the big screen before the movie began was an unforgettable moment of pride for him and his family”, Ishpreet mentioned. Looking Ahead: What’s Next For Ishpreet And The Shoefaktory As trends evolve, Ishpreet predicts a colourful and playful palette for sneakers , moving away from the limited options of the past. His message to fellow entrepreneurs is simple yet powerful : Be consistent, know your approach towards clients, and always strive to bring the best out of yourself. The Unstoppable Journey Of Ishpreet Singh With unwavering dedication and an eye for quality, Ishpreet Singh Gujral has redefined sneaker culture in India. The Shoe Faktory stands as a beacon of authenticity, passion, and innovation, proving that success comes to those who dare to dream and work relentlessly to turn those dreams into reality. Whether you’re a sneaker enthusiast or just stepping into the world of premium footwear, The Shoe Faktory promises an unmatched experience. What’s Next? Stay tuned for The Shoefaktory’s upcoming collections, and if there’s something special you’re searching for in India, Ishpreet and his team will make it happen. • Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist

Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist By Anushka Sharma Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist 17 April 2024 LIFESTYLE Advertisement In a world where Instagram filters reign supreme and beauty standards constantly evolve, the concept of pretty privilege has sparked countless debates. But what exactly is pretty privilege, and does it really exist? Let's embark on a journey through the realms of attractiveness and societal advantages to uncover the truth behind this captivating notion. First things first, what is pretty privilege? Simply put, it's the idea that attractive individuals enjoy certain benefits solely based on their appearance. From getting better job opportunities to receiving special treatment in social settings, the notion suggests that being conventionally attractive comes with its set of perks. But hold on a second! Before we jump to conclusions, let's break it down. Is pretty privilege a real phenomenon or just a figment of our imagination? Well, the answer isn't as black and white as we might think. Sure, being attractive might catch the eye of others and open some doors, but does it guarantee success and happiness? Not quite. While a beautiful face might grab attention, it's what lies beneath the surface that truly matters. Personality, skills, and character play a far more significant role in determining one's journey through life. Let's take a closer look at some common scenarios often associated with pretty privilege. Ever heard of the phrase, "Beauty opens doors"? Well, it might hold some truth. Studies have shown that attractive individuals are more likely to land job interviews and receive favorable treatment in certain situations. But does that mean they have it easy all the time? Certainly not. Consider this: A stunning applicant might catch the recruiter's eye, but it's their qualifications and skills that seal the deal. Pretty privilege might get your foot in the door, but it's your capabilities that keep it open. After all, no amount of beauty can compensate for incompetence. In social settings, attractive people might attract more attention and receive compliments more frequently. But does that translate to genuine connections and meaningful relationships? Not necessarily. True friendships and romantic connections are built on mutual respect, shared interests, and emotional compatibility, not just physical appearance. Moreover, beauty standards vary widely across cultures and individuals. What one society deems attractive might be completely different from another's perception. So, who decides what's pretty and what's not? It's all subjective. Now, let's address the elephant in the room: discrimination based on appearance. Yes, unfortunately, it does exist. Studies have shown that less attractive individuals might face prejudice in certain situations, such as hiring processes or social interactions. But does that mean pretty privilege is the flip side of the same coin? Not quite. Rather than focusing on the privileges or disadvantages associated with appearance, perhaps it's time we shift our perspective. Instead of fixating on beauty standards and societal expectations, let's celebrate diversity and individuality. After all, true beauty lies in embracing our uniqueness and loving ourselves for who we are, not how we look. So, does pretty privilege exist? Well, it's complicated. While attractiveness might open some doors, it's what we do once we're inside that truly matters. Let's strive to create a world where everyone is judged based on their character, skills, and contributions rather than their appearance. After all, that's where true privilege lies – in being valued for who we are, not how we look. This is a very important aspect of helping your skin be healthy for long, and with the right approach, you can build an effective skincare routine in less than 10 minutes that will leave your skin looking and feeling its best. Here's How To Do It: Know Your Skin Type: The first thing to know is whether you have dry, oily or combination skin. It’s important to know your undertones as well. Understanding your skin type is crucial for selecting the right products. Whether you have oily, dry, combination, or sensitive skin, tailor your routine to address your specific needs. I’ve worked so much that no work is big or less for me, I loved all my work and every artist should love every work of theirs.” Art is all about nourishing a metaphorical baby that feeds off your talent, after all! Speaking of her upcoming projects, she states, “One of them is Red which is completed with Krishna. It's a thriller. I have started working on "Shaque the doubt" which is also a thriller. The shooting commences in London soon. I’ve many more projects coming up to surprise the Audience and my fans.” When we asked Payal about this one piece of advice for the girls who are keen to join the industry, she tells us, “Be bold, be yourself and don't take the shortcut route. If you work hard enough for your dreams you'll surely make it. There is enough room for talent. Believe in yourself.” However, acting isn’t all that she’s known for. Payal has some slick sense of dressing as well. When asked about her fashion mantra, she tells us the key to knowing it all: Being yourself in whatever you wear, with confidence and happiness, only to never go wrong with it! As the conversation divulged into the topics of mental health, she has a rather interesting take on the entire subject. She states, “Do start with a goal for your mental health content. ... Do use credible sources. ... Do include the details on how to get in touch with professional help. ... Don't limit people's identities to their mental health.” Speaking of her views on body positivity, she tells us, “All body types are beautiful and deserve acceptance. Body positivity is guided by the understanding that feeling positive and accepting of appearance can improve mental health, reduce the risk of eating disorders, and allow someone to function at their best. Needless to say, this interview with Payal Ghosh was indeed a refreshing take on life, Bollywood and perspectives in general. 10 Era-Defining Fashion Icons In Music by Himanshi Sharma 10 Era-Defining Fashion Icons In Music 14 February 2023 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Take a look at the most fashionable artists over the past three decades Most trends start on the edge of a guitar string of one famous musician that every single one of their fans want to be like. Here are some such influential icons in the music industry. The Ramones (70s) The Ramones were the first of many bands that originated the alternate genre of punk music. The musicians didn’t bother to dress the part, which at that period was full of pomp and glamour. They rather that they stuck to their frayed jeans, leather jackets and shaggy hair. Little did they know that they had begun the bad boy rockstar aesthetic. Elvis Presley (70s) The King of Rock ’n’ Roll wasn’t only know for his grooves. Elvis Presley was known for many things starting from his slick pompadour which many guys of that time strived to imitate to wearing eyeliner however it was his rhinestone studded pantsuits which were the epitome of fashion, courtesy of Bill Belew, that has influenced many styles that came about till date. Freddie Mercury and Queen (70s and 80s) The trail of flamboyance continued from Elvis’s time with the coming of the British band Queen and their main man, Freddie Mercury who brought about the prevalence of androgyny in fashion. Starting with bell bottoms and dark bobs, Mercury later went on to experiment more with fashion with more bright tight fitting bodysuits and over the top jackets. His signature moustache was only a welcome addition in his later years. Michael Jackson (70s to 90s) The ‘Thriller’ singer was the one to put fedoras, single handed gloves, studded jackets and many more on the map during the peak of 90s. Jackson acted true to his words as mentioned in his autobiography ‘Moonwalk’ “If fashion says it’s forbidden, I’m going to do it,” And he sure found a way to make it fabulous too. Madonna (80s and 90s) There wasn’t a time in 1900s when Pop Queen Madonna was not totally iconic. She cut the right balance between punk and gorgeous with her lacy corsets paired with messy jumbles of pearls and her frizzy blonde hair. One of her most notable looks comes from her song ‘Material Girl’, embodying Marilyn Monroe perfectly in her own quintessential manner. Spice Girls (late 90s) The Spice Girls represented the fashion trends that were going around in the late 90s. Geri’s Union Jack dress, Mel C original athleisure looks, Emma’s pigtails, Victoria’s black fits and Mel B’s animal prints all perfectly sum up the era and boomed into the early 2000s as well. Britney Spears (late 90s and 2000s) Britney dominated the fashion game in the 2000s. ‘Hit me Baby One More Time’ gave rise to tied up shirts and sports bras. Young pop stars nowadays still try to emulate Britney in any way possible. Really, no one could make a huge yellow Boa python around the neck stylish the way she did, though. Jennifer Lopez (2000s) Jennifer Lopez is still making fashion statements well into 2023 but if we can’t go without mentioning that one dress that made fashion history which is the famous green Versace dress she wore at Grammys which was so iconic it was revived back in 2020. Harry Styles (2010s) Harry Styles joins the ranks of Elvis and Freddie Mercury, having transcended the boundaries of fashion. Shedding his boy band days image, Styles had went on to create a style of his own, which went beyond all gender norms and stereotypes. BTS (2010s) BTS has changed the footnotes of fashion for a whole new generation, not just in one nation but all over the world. They have totally redefined the standards of masculinity, sending shockwaves across current trends. With their popularity, ‘self expression’ has taken new roots in our society. #Musicons #Fashionstars #Rockstar style #Fashioninpop #Genderbender SEARCH Why does Fashion Need Fashion Shows FASHION From Dreams To Crowns: Anuradha Garg’s Inspiring Mrs. India Story FASHION Colour Psychology in Fashion: Explained FASHION Legendary Female Icons Who Made Fashion Statements In The 20th Century FASHION The House of Chanel: History FASHION POPULAR POSTS Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement By Shriniwas Kodape The Snake That Wore Red: Inside The Vision Cultured™ Revolution 19 October 2025 FASHION By Sakshi Shah Francesca Bellettini Ushers In Gucci’s New Dawn 19 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Dibba Studio: Weaving The Future Of Fashion At Thailand Fashion Week AW25-26 2 September 2025 FASHION By Shriniwas Kodape Aksstagga: Threads That Whisper Love, Memory, And Eternity 21 August 2025 FASHION RELATED POSTS Advertisement

  • Do I feel pretty?

SOCIETY by Neha Pande Do I feel pretty? 1 September 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Do I feel pretty? Do I love my looks? Miniskirt or Salwar Suit, which one should I choose? A women’s life is scandalous and decided by the way she dresses or looks, it is the harsh reality of the women beauty standards where aesthetics is everything. A judgmental world where lipsticks are more expensive than books because that’s how the society is, isn’t it? Makeup, surgery and the way I “should” dress, publicised through all social media making young girls think they are to look a certain way. Society has made it a norm for women to dress pretty with makeup done neatly and not to dress tomboyish as it is impolite for a girl to be dressed in men’s clothing. Funny thing is it doesn’t even matter if she’s perfect with beautiful skin and a neatly dressed or if she is tom boyishly dressed with bad skin, it doesn’t matter the amount or makeup she has on or does not because the society still will judge, it will still try to nit-pick on whatever they can. You may think if she’s in a Miniskirt people will drool over her and if she is in a Salwar Suit people might call her a ‘behenji’; to that, yes, that might happen with our society falling into the tracks of western culture people might like the miniskirt and beautifully done makeup better but salwar suit has its own charm and will also invite a lot of spectators. But it doesn’t matter if it’s a Salwar Suit or a Miniskirt as the female behind it will still be criticized, as if her change in size or dressing has let everyone down. Her body is caged in reviews and views with titles on her as if she’s a zoo animal, shouldn’t she be allowed to dress however she wants? Shouldn’t she wear as much makeup as she wants or not? Society may change with feminist movements going around the globe, this mentality might change and till then all we can do is to stop asking the question about which one is better, Miniskirt or Salwar Suit because it doesn’t really matter as we all are passengers of the same ship which is headed by the captain called “Society” and we all are suffering the same from the same judgment as others.
